The Unknown Regions had been a home to many a rebel in her day. The home of disconnected cells usually unrelated entirely to the Rebel Alliance. And yet, Jonyna wasn't unfamiliar with it herself.

The Reaper had snuck onto the planet entirely unnoticed thanks to it's stealth systems, but she could only keep her own presence so hidden. She was no Allyson Locke Allyson Locke , but she had enough training in Force Stealth to keep herself hidden on the ridgeline that overlooked the newly built Sith Outpost.

She had a target in mind.

Darth Morta.

The Farworlds Alliance had gotten wind of Sith influnece in the area, and Jonyna was never one to wait for orders. She went to investigate herself.

With an old SIA rifle in hand, she laid flat on the edge of the cliff, eye pushed deep into the scope as she looked over the base.

She just needed one shot on the damn Twi'lek.

Darth Morta had plans for Jurio, an Ex-Sith Empire world, just beyond the generally accepted border of the Unknown Regions. Her company had legitimate business reasons to be on Jurio; the Unknown Regions had a vast amount of untapped mineral wealth and were far enough from the front lines of the galaxy's wars, while still close enough to a hypergate to not be completely remote, it could serve as a staging point for further expeditions. More importantly, it could provide cover from the casual observer for Morta's studies into the mysteries of the dark side of the force.

For the moment, Morta sat in meditation on the edge of the small encampment, officially belonging to Eclipse Industries, containing mostly civilians; geologists, engineers, and others meant to assess viable locations for mining and industry. Morta herself had a single squad of her Crimson Oath bodyguards in pursuit of her own goals; all but two of them were riding out to scout various locations that Morta had sensed echoes of the dark side strong enough to be of note.

Morta could also sense a pair of eyes on her while she meditated. She was unsure who or what was watching her; the lack of a detectable force presence implied it was a probe or droid. It was only the slight tingling of a potential threat that gave the observer's presence away. Morta could not tell the observer's location, though she felt confident in her connection to the force that she'd be able to react quickly enough should whatever was observing her turn into a threat.

A slight smirk touched Darth Morta's lips, if someone was willing to leave probes out here to watch for either her specifically or even just Sith in general meant that there must be something out here that was worth hiding.

She couldn't trust it. A single shot wouldn't do it. She'd fought enough sith, fought alongside and against enough battle droids and mandalorians, to know a simple truth.

To kill a Force User, one of skill and power, you need to hit them from multiple angles.

She handed the rifle over to her PROXY Droid, telling it a simple command.

"Initiate Zam Wesel."

<Copy.>

The droid's form shifted to that of a lith woman, and it's aim adjusted.

All the while, Jonyna shifted position.

For a moment, she fell back into old habits. She knew the plan felt eerily similiar to that of her days with Tenacity Squad. For a moment, she wondered what Giran would want her to do. What Zash would be doing high above.

She couldn't risk the Skytiger. Not at the moment.

Instead, she rushed towards her speeder bike, the Cheetah quiet enough it's revving engine couldn't be heard over the ridgeline.

At least, not until it burst over it.

It was in that same moment the droid fired. In the same moment Jonyna burst over the ridgeline, and fired four rockets in sync with the droid.

And came down like a bat out of hell.

Darth Morta felt the spike of danger as the blaster bolt left the barrel of the rifle and used the force to jump to the side from where she was seated, letting the bolt impact into the side of, and blowing a chunk out of, one of the temporary buildings in the camp. The rockets, compared to the blaster bolt, were much slower. As Morta grabbed and lit her lightsabers, eschewing the force-imbued scythe on her back for the moment, she was able to grab the projectiles with the force and slam them into the dirt. The move was a cheap shot that might have gotten an apprentice, though Morta had to admit it was clever.

Sensing the force within the speeder and whoever was piloting it, Morta turned to the two members of her guard who responded, telling them, "Deal with the sniper; the speeder pilot is mine."

The two Crimson Oath took off using jetpacks, flying unpredictably and splitting up so that neither of them could be targeted quickly, while Morta used the force to begin hurling chunks of rock at the approaching speeder. Since she could feel the force within the pilot, she didn't expect they'd do any damage, just keeping them from firing on her or her guards until the distance closed to meet this new opponent, blade to blade.

No point in hiding anymore.

As her PROXY droid fled, heading back to her ship, Jonyna fired off one last salvo from her speeder's blaster cannons, before leaping off the bike, and launching it right at the sith, while she drew her black blade mid-jump, slashing through the air, letting loose a crack of natural lightning from the blade towards the two guards.

All the while, a low rhythm rang through the air.

Morta stood ready to take a strike, only to have to dodge an out-of-control speeder as her assailant leapt free from the craft to strike at her guards. The Crimson Oath were good, but they weren't on par with a Jedi Master; one of them took the full brunt of the lightning and was killed instantly. The other one, thanks to the two of them spreading out to make the sniper's job harder, was caught more on the periphery of the electrical attack and merely had the electronics of his armour fried and slammed into the ground at high speed, unconscious or dying. Darth Morta didn't care beyond the fact that he was no longer an asset in this fight; she could no longer feel the tignling of danger in the force that came along with the sniper, so she assumed that the dead guards' charge had driven it off, so at least they weren't dying as complete failures.

As the Jedi sprang at her, using a sword rather than a lightsaber, ignited suspicions in Morta that there might be some trickery, such as her own force-imbued weapons possessed. Not content to sit and wait for her opponent to come to her, as soon as Morta had her feet from dodging the speeder, she leapt at the Jedi, one lightsaber poised to catch the blade coming at her, the other poised for a low leg strike.

Had it been a duel on the ground, Jonyna would've been worried about such an attack. But as blade binded with saber, her eyes instictively caught the second blade, and her leg shifted to allow the saber to slash across the songsteel plates of her shinguards.

And that's when her feet erupted with flame, pushing the blade back and pushing her body into a sudden blackflip which aimed to kick the sith lord right in the face, while simultaniously pushing Jonyna backwards, as her tail pulled out a hilt hidden in her coat out, igniting the blade and slicing in a final move before she was pushed away at a rapid velocity back towards the cliffside.

She wondered how the sith lord would handle an aerial combat.

After all, this was Jonyna's bread and butter.

Darth Morta didn’t plan on keeping the fight in the air. Numerous back-alley vibroblade fights from before the fateful day she became Sith, leaps and jumps might look good, but they give an opponent too many opportunities if used without reason. Morta let gravity pull her down to the ground until she felt, rather than saw, another attack coming at her and used the force to pull herself to the ground quicker, taking the kick to her armoured chest and seeing as a practically invisible blade slice through her overskirt as it flapped behind her.

"You have some fancy tricks, Cathar." Morta spat the words like a curse, not recognizing the ghostfire blade, but being annoyed at part of her clothing being ruined. "But no one gets to ruin my clothes and get away with it."

Morta
reached out with the force, not for her opponent, but for the rock face her opponent was hurling towards and ripped a storm of stones ranging from small pebbles to rocks the size of her torso directly into the path of her opponent

Jonyna had expected a solid rock face to find her footing. Instead, she found a massive of exploding rock that peppered her and caused her to shift her momentum. The larger rocks were easier to dodge, as Jonyna used her sword to slice through them, but it distracted her long enough that she had to shift her focus.

Luckily for her, the battle droid AI in her armor took effect as she worked through the sudden blast of rock, calling up something that would need a bit of time to take effect.

Darth Morta, seeing that her gambit of pulling the loose rocks from the cliff face appeared to be working, let a small smirk touch her lips, and a ripple of satisfaction pass through her force aura. Perhaps the Jedi wasn't as strong as she had expected.

Not one to let the advantage of an enemy with a turned back go to waste, Morta gritted her teeth and let out a force-enhanced guttural shout, sending powerful shockwaves of sonic energy blasting out in all directions surrounding her. Such an attack would damage her own outpost, but Morta didn't care; it and the people within were pawns to be used and disposed of at her pleasure. In the mess caused by the use of Force Bellow, Darth Morta keyed a small button on her wrist, recalling all the members of the Crimson Oath on this world to her location.

She had only a dozen of her elite, spread out, inspecting sites that resonated with the dark side she had sensed; they wouldn't be here immediately, at least half an hour, but they had been trained as part of the recall order to coordinate before closing in. That would put a definite hard limit on how long this fight could last; they could bring heavy weapons to bear, activate ships, or call for aid, things that would complicate any foe's day.

It was just in time that Jonyna got her bearings that she could find her footing again against the rock face.

That was when the sonic attack was about to hit. In a moment, Jonyna did what she had done several times before. The air in front of her, the air between her and the opponent, suddenly evacuated the space. The sonic bellow found no space to pass through, fizzling out.

That was when Jonyna came blasting forward.

Black Blade in hand, she slashed ahead of her, sending a bolt of white lightning crashing towards Morta, as Jonyna aimed the blade right at Morta's heart, approaching at near mach speed.

Darth Morta was already frustrated by the Jedi's refusal to match her blade to blade in a proper battle, she could feel Crimson Harvest calling out to her, to grab the cruel alchemized blade and use it on her foe.

She didn't, however. In that moment of distraction,
Morta suddenly had to contend with a bolt of force-empowered lightning coming at her. As she caught it on the blade of one of her lightsabers, she could sense that it was the lightside equivalent of her own Force Lightning.

The glare of that was just enough to slow her reaction to the follow-up sword strike.
Morta moved quickly to get out of the way, but not quickly enough, as the blade gouged deep into her armour as she moved and left a nasty cut on the left side of her body.

Howling in pain,
Morta discarded her sabers and pulled Crimson Harvest from her back, charging after the Jedi with the Scythe. By just wielding the weapon Sarrassian Iron that had been forged into the blade was amplifying her connection to the Dark Side.

Dodging blaster bolts was child's play, something Darth Morta could do in her sleep, which was fortunate as Chrimson Harvest was not a weapon that could easily be used defensively against a ranged weapon like a blaster.

Morta heard the quip as she rushed after the Jedi and ignored it. She funnelled that pain from her wound and frustration into the force, the weapon amplifying the strength from the emotions. Morta used that amplified power to push herself forward even faster to close the gap.

Darth Morta swung her scythe, intent on letting her actions speak rather than getting dragged into some distracting conversation. Her attack wasn't some wide fancy swing, but a thrust intent on hooking the Jedi's foot, either slowing her down with a trip, leaving some injury, or taking the foot off entirely if Morta caught the connection between the boot and the armour with the blade.

Jonyna's eyes watched that scythe with a fixation.

With a thought, she activated the repuslor skates in her boots, shifting her foot to allow the songsteel plate to block it, but she winced as an old injury flared up from the impact.

Still, she needed to close that range without risking a slash. Lucky her, that scythe had a hell of a weight to it.

She threw her sword forward, slicing once more at the air in front of her between the two. Rather than risk pushing forward, she let her blade project a shockwave, a sonic blast, right towards Morta's face.

Darth Morta pursued the Jedi relentlessly, enraged at the infuriating and cowardly tactics the Cathar was using rather than just standing and fighting like a proper warrior.

To follow up on her original attack rather than try to pivot the scythe and all the momentum behind it Morta just brought the haft up while closing the distance, underneath the plastiod and Rancor leather for decoration, the entire shaft was just a solid bar of Phrik that would hurt to have it slammed into someone, sharp or not.

As Morta was rushing up and forward, she ran directly into Jonyna's attack, the only luck being that because she moved so aggressively, the sonic attack slammed directly into her chest, the armour not doing much to protect her as the force of the attack broke at least one rib.

Jonyna could see the phrik bar coming, and all she could do was pivot slightly to let it smack into her coat. That would take the brunt of the momentum away, but not all of it. She'd have a bruise on her left side in the morning.

"Not every day I have to deal with a pretty lady trying to kill me. But you're too busy focused on killing me, aren't you?"

Jonyna heard inside of her ear, the sound of her droid's binary.
<Incoming.>

"Good luck with that."

Jonyna suddenly exploded with a rush of flame, sending her several meters back, before the sky opened up.

The Skytiger came down from on high, firing a river of plasma from it's Superfang at Morta.

Darth Morta felt the oldest wound, the sword strike she’d taken earlier in the fight start to knit back together thanks to the effect of her scythe. It wasn’t much as comparatively the glancing blow with the handle of Crimson Harvest wasn’t as damaging in comparison, but at least the wound was no longer leaking fresh blood.

“I wouldn’t have to kill you if you had the sense the force gave an acolyte and left me and mine alone to do our surveys.” Morta spate out disgruntled, but still confident in her her ability to win the fight.

She was getting ready to launch her next strike at
Jonyna, but from the sky Morta heard the scream of engines, and glanced up to see some variant of X-wing screaming down out of the sky at her. She reached out with the force, grabbing the X-Wing in the force was her only option to defend herself, her weapon was useless defencively in this case, and actually taking control of the fighter’s flight path was also next to impossible, but she didn’t need full control. All Morta needed to do was disrupt it so it could not fire accurately at her, she gripped at it with all her might, which wasn’t enough to do more than make the fighter experience some intense turbulence, but that was enough to cause the concentrated stream of weaponsfire to be more of a “to whom it may concern” in the entire general area of the battle and the camp full of civilian contractors working for Eclipse Industries behind them.

The Skytiger couldn't do much to stop the rounds it had already fired, but it didn't need to. As soon as it felt the tug, it's guns went silent and it shifted it's vector thrust upward as to allow it to egress away from the battle.

But it was all the Cathar needed. The moment Morta was distracted, Jonyna rushed forward, drawing her white blade and slashing forward towards Morta's chest.

She didn't need to keep her distance if she could distract her target.
