  • Weight: Average
  • Ammunition Type: Specialized Blaster Power Packs, consisting of a Diatium and Tricopper Power Cell mated with a Spin-sealed Tibanna Gas Cartridge.
  • Ammunition Capacity: Very Small; 5 shots per cartridge.
  • Effective Range: Average
  • Rate of Fire: Average
  • Damage Output: Extreme
  • Recoil: Low
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Ergonomic design, to aid wielders in intuitively bringing the weapon up to shooting position, properly in-line with the shoulder and eyes for proper recoil control and sighting
  • Holographic sights, with back-up iron sights (factory zeroed at 25 meters); the holographic sights are capable of wirelessly linking with a wielder's heads-up-display, either through a visor or ocular implants that support the connection
  • Advanced miniaturized inertial compensators to handle the recoil output
  • Easily removable trigger guard for operation with winter gloves, generally larger hands, or after some form of nerve damage or cybernetic replacement leading to a loss of dexterity
  • Fine-tuned trigger mechanism, able to be adjusted from a typical military drop-safe pull weight to a highly responsive hair trigger with the turn of a screw
  • Attractive decorations, including chromium and electrum plating, and japor ivory wood grip scales (shaped and carved according to the owners wishes)
  • Top-break action for loading, maintaining a slim, easily-holsterable profile
STRENGTHS
  • Float Like a Butterfly: Built with highly-miniaturized inertial compensators inside its slim frame, the Fragarach model experiences remarkably low recoil for its weight and power output, enabling quick follow-up shots to take advantage of its semi-automatic nature.
  • Sting Like a Bee: Being an exceptionally high-powered disruptor weapon, the Fragarach quite outpaces its small size when it comes to the damage department, putting out energy more on the scale of heavy rifles than that of small pistols, owing to part of Ollis Barran's own personal philosophy: "If I don't want to see it, I'll make sure nobody sees it ever again."
  • Pinpoint Accuracy: Like many disruptor weapons, the charge that is consumed to fire does so in the form of a continuous beam that is emitted for a discreet length of time, rather than a discreet bolt that can be more easily affected by environmental conditions, rendering the Fragarach one of the most accurate weapons found amongst Galidraan's upper class, like a hitscan rifle found in one of their childrens' hologames.
WEAKNESSES
  • Environmentally Unfriendly Fuel Consumption: Massive power comes at a massive cost, and for the Fragarach, that is in the form of resource consumption. With less than one-fourth the ammunition capacity of even the most sparsely loaded heavy pistol widely available on the market, as well as oddly-shaped, annoying to carry, and slower-than-normal to reload charge cartridges, anyone using one of these pistols is under great pressure to make sure every shot they fire counts.
  • Exposed Ammunition Storage: Even compared to most pistols, the ammunition of a Fragarach is quite noticeable, even when fully loaded, such that a highly adept shooter (or, more likely, a lucky shot) can connect with the charge canister. If that happens, well, the one holding it will certainly lose a hand. If they're lucky.
  • Hands Can't Hit What The Eyes Can't See: As with many pinpoint-accurate beam-type weapons, there's no wiggle-room to work with when firing like a blaster bolt or slugthrower round, and wasted shots never helped anybody, did they? You're either on target, or you're not; don't think the wind can help you with this thing.
DESCRIPTION

If it hadn't been for the cruel twist of fate that saw Ollis exiled from Galidraan much like his cousin Erskine, he might have contented himself in his life with the work of being an inventor and tinkerer; however, fate saw fit to turn his life down a more martial path, much like his own father and uncle, and all Ollis's skills with technology were turned towards weapons production and modification in his downtime. Having had tutelage from the greatest weaponsmiths of Clan Barran in his youth, and later gaining aid from those of them who were still with him in his exile, he saw fit to create the perfect tool for gaining his revenge against those who cast him out from his home, while managing to turn his artistic leanings towards it as well.

While outwardly it resembles a simple, albeit extremely handsome and well-made pistol (after all, Ollis would accept nothing less than aesthetic perfection in a work of this type), his greatest inventive breakthrough came in designing the systems of the weapon. While other large, hard-hitting weapon systems had been crammed into such a small frame before, the vast majority of them carried massive recoil and heavy weight alongside their destructive potential. While Ollis and his family were not unfamiliar with the solid weight of a good, practical weapon, the surly weaponsmith desired to create something more refined.

An elegant weapon for a more civilized age, as it were.

It was in his tinkering, with such thoughts forefront in his mind, that he managed to effectively miniaturize the inertial compensators more often found in starships and vehicles, akin to the ancient inertial inhibitors of the Jedi Civil War era, and turn these micro-contraptions towards helping his weapon maintain its place in space and time without relying on overall physical mass to do so instead.

It took multiple iterations—and more money spent than he'd ever admit to his cousin, who received the first completed pistol—but he managed to finally come to a finished product after more than a year of work, though due to the expense he knew he'd never manage to make another run of them, as simply repairing and maintaining those already extent would prove difficult enough. A sleek, elegant, and powerful pistol for himself, his family, and the few allies they deemed worthy of receiving one for their own use. Indeed, the pistol saw distinguished use in the hands of Aron Gowrie and other Galidraani warriors during the final stages of the fall of the Sith Empire—and it is Ollis's great hope that they'll see yet more use in the years to come.

Current recipients of these pistols:
Ollis Barran, Erskine Barran, Michael Barran, Willan Tal, Arcturus Tal, Enedina Tal, Aron Gowrie, Tyrell Lockhart, Eskel Ravenot.

Note: All descriptions of the weapon's effectiveness are merely flavour, or can be chalked up to in-universe marketing, rather than any claim as to its effectiveness against PCs, as per roleplay rule #5.
