Every three years there are 339 days in the calendar and this is to help organic calendars synchronize with Dosuun’s orbit around its sun. These years are affectionately called the ‘Ternary’ years. HISTORICAL INFORMATION

When the First Order arrived in the mid 840s the first among their tasks was to create a calendar that synchronized with their new homeworld’s rotation around their new sun. The task was made easier from the recovery of ancient Dosuunian writings which would then be translated into Galactic Basic. From there, the First Order took what they knew from the Core and the Outer Rim and combined that knowledge with the ancient Dosuunian calendar.

The result became a blended calendar that aided in their transition to living in the Wild Space region. As time went on holidays were adjusted, and moved as needed. At least that was until the Fall of the First Order, or the Sacking of Dosuun. From which afterward the Calendar had to be recovered and updated. It no longer reflected knowledge from the Outer Rim, but was simplified to reflect ideas from the Core and the ancient Dosuunian writings.

As the First Order continues to reestablish itself on the galactic stage. It works diligently to ensure that its holidays observe more than just the national marks, but that each planet’s own cultural celebrations are highlighted on their calendars. Recently the First Order began accepting petitions to recognize non-human centric holidays so that it might reflect its diverse population.
