First Annual Galactic Games - Avalonia

The Galactic Alliance woman matched Corvo's pace to walk alongside him. She began with small talk, explaining her tardiness for the games. Corvo didn't care though, but not out of disinterest. It was common knowledge that events didn't usually start until several minutes after the ticket time. The events were well into it, but there was still much to go. Zonia then nonchalantly brought up the source of her trouble: the lack of direct travel routes from Sullust to Avalonia. It was something to be looked into at a later time."

"Your personal involvement in resolving the seating issue is much appreciated. But I hate to bother you with such trivialities... I am sure one of your officers could escort me to my designated seat.", Zonia said. Her tone sounded as if she was looking to evade him. Corvo's curiosity turned into suspicion.

Suddenly halting near one of the seating terminals, Corvo turned to face Kalranoos. There was a stormtrooper on both sides of the terminal, no doubt providing uniformed security for the events taking place.

"So, Miss Kalranoos. Your seat was ticketed out to someone else due to a processing error, and you presume to contact the Director of the Security Bureau?", Corvo said, his courteous tone yielding to a sharper, more inquisitive one. Another stormtrooper walked to join them, standing a couple feet behind the Minister of Security. It may have presented an imposing presence, but Corvo was in the business of security. Calling for one of the highest profile men in the First Order to resolve a trivial seating error was a bit suspect. He turned slightly to whisper in the stormtrooper's audio input system before turning back to Zonia.

"Is that the story we're going to go with?", he asked, placing another piece of popcorn into his mouth, an eyebrow raised.

[member="Zonia Kalranoos"]

Zonia was a bold woman, not easily intimidated. Perhaps this sudden display of paranoia came with the turf. She could, on some very basic level, understand distrust in people. A long-winded sigh escaped her lips when another Stormtrooper joined Santagar's side; she was a defenseless woman clad in First Order crimson, not a wanted terrorist. What was he afraid of?

"Your Excellency, I haven't contacted you or requested to contact you. Your men did so. I merely requested to see a superior, a senior officer would've sufficed." she explained calmly - "And I do agree that the trivialities such as my seating arrangement should not waste the time of Director of Security Bureau."

Kalranoos radiated confidence, with a measured dose of respect. His suspicion was unfounded; she didn't travel all the way to Avalonia to spy. Thus, she wouldn't let him treat her as a suspect, despite the immense authority he commanded.

"Even less did I expect to be taken to a seat by the Director himself." she continued with a half-smile - "Yet, here we are."

The Prakithan glanced towards the Stormtroopers and to their polished blasters which were half-pointed in her direction. Weapons made her feel uneasy.
"Is this really necessary?" she added, motioning towards his armed entourage - "Or am I under arrest?"

[member="Corvo Santagar"]

Her words seemed innocent enough, as did her tone. She didn't seem to be curt or rude. As a matter of fact, his spontaneous display of suspicion almost seemed to frightened her. He admired her composure though, and though confronted with an awkward situation, maintained a professional disposition. Corvo stared at the woman for a couple short moments, before his demeanor shifted completely once more. A smile began to emerge on his face and he let out a light chuckle. "No, you're not under arrest. My officers can sometimes be a bit dim and jump the chain. Please accept a complementary upgrade along with my sincerest apologies.", he said, taking personal responsibility for the hiccup even though he had nothing to do with it. As if on cue, the stormtrooper steeped forward. Corvo pointed to him slightly with an open palm. "This is Sergeant 1474, he'll escort you to your skybox." Corvo wasn't one to be embarrassed, and his officer had placed hin in an uncomfortable position. There would be ramifications to be paid. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a flat metallic rectangle as he sighed. He wasn't totally devoid of courtesy, even if he did just put [member="Zonia Kalranoos"] in the hot seat. "If anything else comes up.", he said, handing her his card.

He didn't tell her that he was giving her his own personal skybox. Truth be told, he didn't enjoy the games as much as he enjoyed the excitement of the people in attendance.

With a slight bow of the head, he stepped backwards and turned around, merging with and disappearing into the crowd. He didn't have a skybox anymore, so perhaps he'd join some of the other First Order government officials in their skybox, or maybe he'd just walk the beat and do some undercover patrols, get some hands-on. Maybe he'd turn his focus to the games themselves, see what all the fuss was about. Regardless of his options, there was still much time to fill.

skin, bone, and arrogance
Decima grunted as she landed. Oddly enough, the fact that she landed on the legs of [member="Jessica Med-Beq"] was a blessing in two ways. First, they blocked part of the impact of the fall, preventing her from having the wind knocked out of her. Second, it gave her something to grab onto as leverage, a fact she mercilessly exploited by clawing her way up Jessica's back, preventing the blonde from getting up, her heavy boots pounding against the woman's armor-clad back and head until she leaped off, using the Force to accelerate her speed. Where was the ball? Where was the goal?

She raced forward, knowing that the ball had gone in that general direction, finally catching sight of it. She drew a breath, pulled in on the Force, and ran until her lungs protested with burning pain.

So they wanted to play dirty eh? It was one thing to shoot at Daxton, that he could take in stride. But to destroy the bike he had spent two hours polishing to a mirror shine before the match? Now all bets were off. Time for the veteran of hundreds of duel and battles to take off the kid gloves and start really hurting people.

Drawing the energy of the Dark Side, Daxton tapped into his knowledge of Force telekinesis forming four 8 foot long prehestile tentacles from his back. Invisible to the naked eye, one wo2uld need to be viewing Daxton with Force Vision into order to see it. To those who could see them, they would appear as muscular tentacles studded with hooks and claws, each tipped with a clawlike mandable capable of cutting and tear as well as carrying and using weapons.

Disengaging the magnetics of his boots with the balls of his feet, he rushed the Hutt on his blind side. Drawing his lightsabers in either hand, he ignited the blue and green blades as each of the Force Tentacles weilded a black alchemical blade. While the lightsabers were set to stun, the ebon blades had no such setting. Not that Daxton was out to kill, not yet anyway. He wanted to spill blood and he did not care whose it was.

With an ancient Sith Battlecry on his lips, he struck like a crazed demon. Perhaps the Hutt was trained to deal with a blade or two, but Daxton had developed a fighting style specific for fighting with three or more blades. Only one person was able to learn this style from Daxton and he doubted that lifeform still counted himself among the living or sane. To embrace the style was to embrace total fighting madness through the Force, a meeting of Zen and Berserk from a much more civilized time. To the naked eye, Daxton would be dual weilding lightsabers while an array of blades circled around and struck like mischevous sattelites. To those with Force Vision it was like seeing the legendary creature Kraken made flesh strike fear and terror in the heart of his foe.

Unless the Hutt had eyes behind his head or one of team mates called out a warning, it was not possible to defend himself against both Sith and his mandalorean team mate at the same time.

"Fear is the mind killer. All men must die." Words to strike terror and doubt into the heart of his foe...

Tyyni looked at [member="Undin Jaii Kryze"] with a confused expression, looking to his training saber. "Kill you? This is a training saber, it does not kill. And this is a game. I will not kill a man for sport. Unlike you." The Hutt looked to Undin's two blades, still feeling the fear present.

Suddenly, he heard screaming behind him, and pressed his body low to the floor as blades went over him. With a sinking feeling, Tyyni turned his head, just in time to see one of [member="Daxton Bane"]'s lightsabers headed for him. Tyyni had no chance of blocking it. The blade zapped his fatty side, leaving a wide scorch mark. The Hutt cried out in pain, sinking to the ground. His vision flickered as he tried to stay conscious. The Padawan rolled onto his back, writhing pain torturing his entire system. Why are they ganging up on me? They're about to be scored on!

As Tyyni wriggled, he heard Bane's words, and felt his fear rise. They're going to kill me. They're actually going to kill me.

The Hutt Jedi tried to get back up, and fell again in pain. His robes had burnt through at the spot Daxton's lightsaber had connected. Under it, blistering skin, exposed flesh. Tyyni tried to find his peace again, to gather his strength to zip out of there, but he couldn't. His mind was clouded by pain, and fear.

It seemed the Hutt didn't pickup the saber that the boy had given him. Well , it was too late now , he had been hit by [member="Daxton Bane"] , but as Undin heard the crowd yell [member="Decima Fortan"]'s name repeatedely , he noticed Daxton didn't have the ball anymore.
He turned towards the First Order's goals , but no sign of it. He then looked behind him , to see the ball headed for the their goal. He yelled towards [member="Titan Kryze"] "I'm coming to give you backup!". With help from the Force and from his Feather Boots , Undin started running towards his goal, hoping that Titan would catch the ball , so he could help him defend.

Titan had zoned out, but the shot at the goal flashed him back to the present. The ball flew pat his head and a second later Titan was chasing it. "What is the Mandalorian goalie doing?" One of the announcers yelled as Titan, realizing he wouldn't be able to get his hands up in time, drove into the balls path. It bounced off his helmet back towards [member="Daxton Bane"].

Hm. Samka was still standing on her elevated perch. She took a moment to absorb what was happening below. A frantic scene indeed. Patience, teamwork and strategy were what was needed to win such a game and thus far the other teams were sorely lacking. All the better for her. A serious fight seemed to have broken out in The Silver Sanctum's part of the arena but it was of no concern of hers when the ball was not involved. It appeared that the ball had been in the possession of the Silver Sanctum but now was flying through the air unclaimed. Now was the time to act.

Sam leaped towards the ball and actually managed to catch it in mid air. It had been bounced off of the helmet of the Mandolorian first but she took hold of it before it reached the other side of the arena. Her first touch of the game. She landed with the ball clutched under her left arm and ignited her training lightsaber in the right. The Manolorian goal was tantalisingly close and the crowd knew it, roaring ever louder. The difficulty was both her teammates seemed distracted by the Silver Sanctum women and she may have to take on the Mando [member="Titan Kryze"] alone and to make matters worse [member="Undin Jaii Kryze"] was heading back this way at a surprising pace as well.

"Isn't this a school night?" She couldn't resist a quick taunt at the 14 year old even if nobody could hear her. Usually she was on the receiving ends of such remarks so it felt good to have a few years on someone else for a change. She unleashed an uncontrolled barrage of Force Lightning at Undin. It was difficult to be precise when holding the ball with one hand and a weapon in the other but precision strikes were unneeded here. All that was required was to slow the boy down so she could focus on Titan alone. If the young one attempted to keep running at full speed he would be ramming into a nasty onslaught of dark side energy so his only option would be to dodge the large, uncontrolled waves costing precious time.

Now she turned her attention to the other Mando on this side of the arena. "Shall we dance?" She said and dashed as quickly as she could. She didn't need to best him, only evade him.

Seeing the woman's burst of Force Lightning, he realised that using the Force was legal and as such, unleashed his own widespread salvo of Force Lightning at the woman's speeder. "I don't dance." Titan replied, "I win." And with that he attempted to use the Force to choke her.

Valae could see the two Mandalorians closing in on [member="Tyyni Oluja"], her eyes were wide with concern for her teammate. There was a sinister force presence around [member="Daxton Bane"], and a way about the man that spoke to a need for blood. What was happening? This was all supposed to be fun, right? She could see the large man advancing towards the Hutt, but she was still fighting her own battle to re-gain control of her body.

“T-t-t-tyyy....” Valae’s lips started moving, her voice not quite cooperating yet. The Jedi Knight closed her eyes and pulled the force in all around her, using it to speed her recovery. She pushed up to all fours, panting with effort, her eyes set on the scene unfolding. Dark eyes rushed about the field – [member="Jessica Med-Beq"] was still near the Madalorian goal, but Valae didn’t even care where the ball was now. “No!” She finally found her voice again and shot forward towards Tyyni. Unfortunately, Valae arrived moments too late. And she hadn’t even a chance to acknowledge [member="Rolf Amsel"], she only hoped that he would not sneak up on her again.

She was relieved that the smaller Mando had gone off towards their goal, his focus pulled back to the matter at hand – the game. Valae’s hand found her saber, her free hand held out in front of her, palm facing out. She bent the force around her and Tyyni, creating a small barrier around them – it would be able to block most small weapons easily, blasters bolts, and perhaps even a hit from a saber... if she could maintain focus, that is.

“It’s just a game,” Valae said in an even tone, “Let’s get back to it, okay?”

She wasn’t trying to provoke the Daxton into attacking, she merely wanted to keep things fair, keep them focused on sportsmanship... not killing. Her eyes flickered towards [member="Samka Derith"], seeing that she jumped into the fray. Things were going to get interesting. If anything, this would proving to be quite a distraction from the fact that the SSC goal was now left undefended.

Undin saw the , whatwasit really? Sith, Knight of Ren? It didn't matter , she was going down. But not before sending a quick barrage of Force Lighting towards Undin. The boy turned left , dodging the lighting and then continued on his pursuit , now aiming for [member="Samka Derith"] . With both of his sabers in hand , if she didn't block it , she would be double speared. Before reaching her , he yelled towards [member="Titan Kryze"]
"Activate the mechanamiri pack , or whatever that shenanigans box is called!".

Undin wouldn't be too affected from the effects of the mechanamiri , what he had in mind was to stop the girl using her Force powers , and coming down to a 1 on 1 lightsaber fight.

Sam couldn't help but smirk as the Lightning fired by [member="Titan Kryze"] was absorbed by her blade. He could use the Dark Side too, how exciting. The problem then came with the choking attack. It was a difficult technique to defend against and she could feel the sides of her throat crushing within itself. The resistance of her own Force sensitivity would prevent such an attack from being deadly but it was on the verge of paralysing her movements. But choking a Force user required an immense amount of concentration on behalf of the attacker so maybe she could still stagger across the line...

However a shout came from close behind forcing Samka to turn around. The brat was even faster than she'd thought. One other thing she'd noticed when turning to face her attacker was that [member="Valae Kitra"] had retreated back for some reason or another, Sam really didn't have time to see but it meant that [member="Rolf Amsel"] should be unmarked. She had seen earlier he was fast, perhaps faster than her, so they were in with a real chance here. She threw the ball at him the moment before her blade connected with [member="Undin Jaii Kryze"]'s attack and attempted to call out his name but the pressure on her throat meant all that escaped but a wheezy breath.

Oh now you've done it, she thought as she glared at Undin. The fool had come for a duel with her. Samka Derith, champion fencer from the age of eight, undefeated at the Academy of Ren when permitted to duel in her chosen fashion and self proclaimed master of Makashi form. She drew back for an attack but her next strike was not aimed at the boy but at Titan Kryze. By keeping them both focused on her, their goal was open.

Rolf's eyes had taken in the field after he'd passed [member="Valae Kitra"], observing many different things happening all at once. To focus on the large picture was to be overloaded with information... so he didn't. The ball. It had made several moves in the last few minutes of the game and he was able to watch as seemingly from nowhere the Mandalorian goalie managed to head the ball back into the air. He grinned as he saw his teammate, [member="Samka Derith"] reach out and grab the ball. He followed her laterally, skirting the left side of the field towards the Mandalorian goal. It seemed no one had really noticed him, he wasn't sure if it was due to his speed or because there was a plethora of other things going on across the field, but he took advantage of it.

As he saw his opponents converge on Samka, he was slightly caught by surprise. The huttball was flying in direction. He hadn't been prepared for it but he did react well to change. He quickly shifted his force pike to his left hand, turning his body to recover the ball. As if it was meant to be, his arm wrapped around the huttball and gripped it close to his body. Quickly he turned back towards the goal. If Samka had been close, Rolf was practically on top of it as he'd been unhampered since he'd delivered a crushing blow to Valae's legs. Everything was a rush. It was suddenly as if he'd received a jolt of energy, surging through his muscles, empowering him to even greater physical peaks. He wasn't a trained force user but when he felt it... it was glorious.

Rolf's body surged towards the goal. His mind processed the situation once more before coming to a conclusion. Violently, he pushed off the ground, legs propelling him into the air as he threw his body towards the undefended Mandalorian Goal. His arm was tightly wrapped around the huttball and he turned his body mid-air towards the opponents, the goal to keep the ball from being exposed to any attempt to knock it loose as his body sailed towards the goal.

Titan had forgotten about his Mecharami pack. Good thing he wasn't alone. Tapping a button on his armour, he popped the pack out of his speeder. It would dampen the power of any force use in the future. Flying in front of the Mandalorian goal he used the speeders lasers to fire at [member="Rolf Amsel"]. Out of the corner of his eye, Titan saw [member="Undin Jaii Kryze"] charge at @Samika Dearth.

She was trampled upon by that very Force-using woman that crash-landed on her ankle but because [member="Decima Fortan"] was using Force-speed with a bowcaster on Jessica's back, Jessica was incapacitated for a few seconds, and in pain she has seen the ball bounce off [member="Titan Kryze"] in the direction of [member="Daxton Bane"], after Decima causing both Decima and Jessica to chase the ball. Unfortunately for Decima, she didn't think that a bowcaster on stun setting, and she didn't think that the ball about-facing would result in other players gaining control of the ball before she did. But Jessica could only do so much as fire a bowcaster in [member="Rolf Amsel"]'s direction. Once, twice, several times green bolts were let loose in his direction, hopefully forcing Rolf to fall like a brick with the ball. Hopefully her opponent being stunned in mid-air would result in him dropping the ball and Jessica catching it as it falls.

Dunames Lopez

Megalomaniac CEO of Star Tours
"That's baffling, to say the least: while the Mandos are busy in the Sanctum's goal zone, without having the ball in their possession, Jessica and Decima were fighting for the ball's possession until the ball slid from Jessica's hands"

"[member="Valae Kitra"] and [member="Tyyni Oluja"] were fighting [member="Undin Jaii Kryze"] and [member="Daxton Bane"]; at the same time [member="Samka Derith"] engaged [member="Titan Kryze"] while the ball bounced off from the latter"

"[member="Rolf Amsel"] rushed for the ball while [member="Jessica Med-Beq"] was lying in wait, firing several bowcaster shots in an attempt to steal the ball from him, hoping to stun him and forcing him to drop the ball in mid-air"

"Decidedly the teams are trying some things that amount to player denial: the player denial tactics seem to be where the most exciting action is"

"Jessica did fall into a trap earlier, but... wait, where did [member="Decima Fortan"] go? Did she set up a trap the same way Titan did earlier?"

"The First Order and the Silver Sanctum are poised to score the first goal of the game"

Player denial means separating teams in an attempt to prevent opposing players from reaching for the ball. Dunames knew that the crowd mostly went with the First Order, and thus booed Jessica when she fired those bowcaster shots. But these boos were mostly limited to those around the Mandalorian goal, and Taking Off on a Star Tour knew that huttball was often watched not so much for the action with or around the ball, but for the player denial fights. But at least on that point they gave a run for their money. Even if none of these teams saw in a huttball game nothing more than yet another excuse to fight, Dunames refused to believe such was the case. She may have podraced, and won the race because of some traitor called QRA-1768, who turned a hotly-contested race against Marianne Kwyjibo into a landslide victory for her. Last Dunames heard about Marianne, she was using a Plug-3 Leviathan and reached silver-level; she seemingly gave up on military flying to hit the professional podracing circuit.

Daxton revelled in seeing the confusion and fear in the eyes of the Hutt. As he swung and slashed with abandoned glee, all the young Jedi would see was the look of his own fear reflected back on the impersonal reflective faceplate. Perhaps to permanently haunt the dreams and memories, leaving him changed from with the experience.

It was eyes that gave the Hutt away, the way they widened in surprise as the pupils dilated when the fear struck, cold, hard and deep. They all asked the same question, why? He always told them, in a raspy hypnotic voice, "It is the nature of the beast......."

With those words, the world will seem to fall away, descending into the mind filled with foul odors, sharp memories and painful experiences. It would be as if the life of the Hutt flashed before him and he had to relive all the worst parts. Fears and nightmares made real due to the presence of Daxton. Through it all, thousands of disembodied voices would urge him to abandon all hope.

Suddenly it lessened as [member="Valae Kitra"] interjected between them. The myriad of blades, alchemical and lightsaber stabbed and prodded against the shield, probing for weakness as if they were alive.

"Foolish child.....I always play the only game worth playing...." the voice was like long finger nails scratching the slate of their minds and souls. ".......which is why I play to win."

Using the Force he lifted the Hutt without warning and slammed him into his companion, leaving them in a tangled heap as he sought out the carrier of the ball.

As he lay there in pain, he felt the Force shift around him, darkening his vision. In his head rung seven words, cold and menacing.

'It is the nature of the beast...'

Tyyni caught the scent of something acrid as visions began to swim in front of his eyes. Visions of... his life. The Hutt saw himself sitting alone in a class of young Padawans. All of the others attempted to get as far away from Tyyni as he looked around in immense sadness. Why don't they like me? What did I do wrong? No one could ever answer him. As the years went by, Tyyni had been singled out, called degrading names, and had looks of fear cast at him as he wandered the halls of the temple. All of these instances played in front of him while a chorus of voices wailed in his mind.

You are different. You are unloved. You cannot be like them. You are hopeless.

The little Hutt couldn't handle it. He wriggled and squirmed, trying to escape the darkness. Suddenly, the visions vanished, the voices dissipating into nothingness. Tyyni opened his eyes, seeing [member="Daxton Bane"] standing over him, but unable to penetrate an invisible barrier. Looking around, Tyyni noticed [member="Valae Kitra"] trying to reason with the monster over him, who quickly ran back to his goal. Tyyni watched him leave, and realized his pain again. It appeared he had been cut up worse than he had previously thought. The Mandalorian's flurry of blows had left Padawan Oluja with three lightsaber burns all across his midsection, and a deep blade cut along his forehead, which spilled brackish blood into his watering eyes.

The rest of the world burned away from Tyyni's mind. He had dealt with training saber burns before. He had also cut himself, those were easy. But the darkness he felt made his wounds hurt that much more. Tyyni righted himself, slowly feeling out his body, trying desperately not to break out into tears.

I am okay, aren't I?

Dark Force energy swirled around Daxton in a lazy spiral as if it were a living thing, as he left [member="Tyyni Oluja"] and his team mate to seek out his next victim.

In his head, the legion of disembodied voices screamed, wailed and moaned. Cut them, stab them, make bleed, bury your blades deep in their guts and bathe in shower of gore and blood.

Silencing them through sheer willpower. The Hutt had a taste of raw naked power and showed much potential. Perhaps he would be of use in the future, more use than blood smear to entertain the mindless masses watching the game.

Making his way to [member="Jessica Med-Beq"], he would deftly dodge and weave his way towards her just in case she turned her weapon against him. Once he was close enough he would try to deflect the shots back to the shooter, before delivering a series of weapon blows aimed at her arms and body with the aim of forcing her to drop the weapon and engage him in melee, which is his forte.
