Feng was feeling good, she was nervous yes, but instead of the anxiety she had felt in the past she felt excitement. Feng had learned after years of struggle her search for calmness as the response to anxiety had been flawed, it was much easier to turn that feeling of anxiety into excitement. It was a positive change of emotions, still a little heightened but only a flutter instead of the overwhelming experience that anxiety could induce.

The reason for her excitement, was today was the day she was going to be knighted! Feng could hardly believe it. One day Master Wu had just bluntly asked what she was waiting for? Feng had hesitated that she wasn't ready, that she still had more experience to go through, perhaps a mission with the military.

Master Wu had wryly asked if she thought a Jedi's purpose was to be a soldier. Feng had been forced to admit that it wasn't. So the question remained what had she been waiting for? Feng didn't have an answer other than her own lingering insecurities which she decided she was sick of holding her back.

Sometimes the only thing to do was to take that brave next step forward. Feng had still insisted on going through the Jedi Temple Trials of course, she hadn't wanted to feel like she had cheated her way to her position. The trials had been challenging but surprisingly Feng found herself relishing them even found some of them fun and the rest insightful. It was tranquil to be applying her skills in an arena that didn't hold life or death in the balance.

Once she had passed her trials Feng organised a date, an invitation list and an open invitation to anyone in the Jedi Order or The High Republic to attend. That in it's own way had been nerve wracking. Feng was a social creature, but she was a little socially awkward and she worried sending out an open invitation or even some of the people on the list would come off a little… over eager.

Nevertheless she decided that the worst thing that could happen was people declining, which would hurt, but she was determined not to let it ruin her day. It also meant Feng got a chance to wear the dress Ayumi had made for her. Feng loved that dress.

Feng approached the garden where the ceremony and reception was taking place. The atmosphere was very Aakaashian, delicate fabric, biodegradable lanterns for the guest to light once the ceremony was completed, and of course the cuisine. Feng mouth watered at the smell of it.

Feng bowed to Master Wu who beamed at her while he eyed some of the delicacies on display, while they waited for the guests to arrive.

"Now now Master Wu no eating till after the ceremony." Feng admonished.

WHen she had gotten the news well she had been rather excited. She had to come out in support and there was a great many things she wanted to see. So when Ayumi arrived as an unmistakable silhouette as she enters the event, her six-foot-two-inch frame carrying an upright, composed posture that commands the immediate space without demanding it. Her form is lean, the subtle outline of her collarbones and the taper of her waist visible even beneath the layered fabrics. Her smooth, lightly bronzed copper skin offers a healthy, sun-warmed glow, appearing smooth and firm across the bones of her face, a texture that hints at a life spent under Denon's light.

A single, small nick marks the pale skin beneath her lower lip, a thin, white scar that only becomes visible when the corners of her mouth pull upwards into a rare, reserved smile. Her eyes are deep honey, saturated with amber flecks that catch the ambient illumination of the hall, shifting from a soft, warm gold to a richer, deeper umber as the light source varies. The sheer length of her frame is softened by the gentle, fluid movement of her shoulders as she breathes, an unhurried rhythm that counters the formal stiffness of the environment. Her straight, dark-honey hair falls neatly over her shoulders, the silken mass extending past her shoulder blades to brush against the small of her back.

The smooth strands hang without significant wave, a glossy surface that absorbs and reflects light in equal measure. Running through this deep, warm base color are fine, pale golden threads, natural highlights that glisten brightly under the overhead lighting, pulling points of illumination from the crown of her head down to the blunt-cut ends. She wears a crisp, heavy-cotton white button-down shirt beneath her vest, the collar stiff and high enough to frame the column of her neck. Knotted snugly beneath this collar is a formal tie, patterned in bold vertical bands of off-white and metallic gold, lying flat and symmetrical against her chest. Over the shirt, she wears a structured, sleeveless white tunic of thick, durable weave.

The edges and seams of this tunic bear elaborate, raised embroidery in gold thread, featuring tightly coiled swirls, geometric star points, and slender crescent moons that run along the chest and down the length of the bodice. Securing the tunic and shirt at her waist is a wide, white leather belt, its surface smooth and slightly matte, fastened with a thick, rectangular gold buckle that gleams with a polished finish. Suspended from the left side of this belt is a small, functional pouch, crafted from matching white leather and trimmed with a line of gold piping, secured firmly by a magnetic snap clasp. Ayumi was looking at more with a small grin though when she moved.

The sleeves of her white shirt are fitted, ending in crisp, clean cuffs that are banded with thin strips of flat gold, a subtle continuation of the outfit's metallic accents. Below the belt lies a white, heavily pleated skirt, cut to fall to the middle of her thighs, its hem clean and sharp, the individual folds casting narrow, shadowed lines that give the fabric a rigid, structural quality. The starkness of her white and gold attire frames her dark-bronze complexion beautifully, the high contrast drawing the observer's eye immediately to the fine details of her face and the geometric precision of her outfit. The clothing is immaculately pressed, with not a single wrinkle or stray thread visible, suggesting careful preparation for a formal political or diplomatic occasion.

Her posture remains relaxed yet attentive, the weight of her height and the rigid lines of her garments projecting a subtle authority appropriate for a Senator representing Denon. The combination of the scholastic tie and the tactical utility belt creates an interesting duality, blending the formal expectations of a legislative position with the practical readiness required of what is needed. Ayumi stands with a quiet, measured patience, the clean lines and pale tones of her ensemble offering a clear and consistent aesthetic of order, discipline, and understated capability. Her presence fills the immediate threshold, a calm counter to the bustling atmosphere around her.

Jedi Knight Balun Dashiell had welcomed the invitation to attend Feng Huang's Knighting Ceremony. He had not known the young woman for very long, only having met her since he himself had entered the ranks of the mentor body of the Jedi Order, yet first impressions had impressed upon the young Knight that Feng was a student of great promise.

They had first shared in some Lightsaber sparring, where he had offered some friendly critique, and she had embraced the feedback, turning it into a learning opportunity to improve her skill. Their second meeting had been during a meditation class Balun had led, where she again proved herself well capable in her connection to the Force.

What Balun liked about all of his class students, like Feng, was that they acknowledged their doubts but did not let those insecurities lead them astray. So it was that, upon receiving the invitation, Balun had gladly squared off time in his schedule to attend, in a show of support and pride for her achievements.

The young Jedi Knight arrived in the Gardens where the ceremony was to be held, wearing the formal white-and-gold Jedi robes of the Order, reserved for occasions such as this. A time of celebration and welcoming the accomplished Padawan Learner into Knighthood. The white cloak swayed around his black leather boots with each step, his eyes taking in the beauty of the gardens, appreciating the outdoors and the choice of location for Feng's ascension, surrounded by life and the Force, felt like serene perfection in Balun's mind and spiritual connection.

Positive vibrations all around.

Balun looked to his peers, searching for any familiar faces. It was easy to assume that Oryn Selvar Oryn Selvar might pop up, given he was certain he had heard rumours of the two sharing a Padawan Clan together. Balun heard a great deal among his fellow Jedi, rarely alone in a place such as Shiraya's Sanctuary, the Order, a place of unity and collaboration within their congregation. With Feng's Knighting, he was certain her friends and peers would look to the completion of her student training with feelings of warmth, pride for her, and a sense of a turning point in their own paths to aspire to.

Aileni had been surprised by the invitation to a knighting ceremony since he had only really interacted with the other Padawans once so he didn't think he would have left enough of an impression to really be remembered. Instead, he accepted the invitation and found himself trying to find some more formal robes. Ever since he reached his full height, the clothing that he wore was of a better quality. Less homeless Jedi look but that was because he knew everything would remain fitting as long as he remained in the current physical shape he was. The formal robes was something he hadn't really considered since Aileni preferred being active and on mission far more than being based on Naboo.

Probably why the Shadow struggled to retain a Master since he never stuck around to really bond with one.

The Dathomiri Zorren went with something sleeveless, green and probably too many layers but he liked the look and it was comfortable enough that Aileni was happy to wear it. He shaped his hair in the style he always had it in nowadays and made sure that he looked good when taking a moment to look at himself in the mirror. Nodding his head approvingly as he gave a slight smirk on his lips. It was still strange to see himself in such formal Jedi attire but it was never going to be something that would happen for any length of time. Just the rare occasion.

Arriving at the knighting ceremony, Aileni took a look around, seeing if there were any familiar faces currently but didn't note anyone as of yet. It was still early enough that he didn't fret about being surrounded by strangers. For now, he stood at the back, letting others go about and talk to people as Aileni stood there watching. Observing.

There were few things that had felt as real to Colette as the day that become a Knight of the Order. It was a measure of recognition for what she had done more than it was a means of telling others who she was. All the little victories and the defeats measured into a single word that — while worthless in and of itself — provided her with something concrete to let herself know that she had accomplished good.

Today it was Feng's turn to feel that pride, as well as the true weight of Jedi's responsibility. There would no longer be any 'master' to hide behind or repercussions to be shielded from. A dire way to look at it, a wholly pragmatic look in Colette's eyes, and undoubtedly something that she knew that the soon-to-be-former Padawan would be capable of.

And while Colette might have been a tad bit underdressed given the presence of actual literal dresses and other finery, she knew that there was just as much weight in the presence of robes. This one styled in the fashion of something the Knights of the Old (old old old old old old) Republic might have worn.

She waited for the procession to begin while doing her best to provide a calm presence for those in attendance.

One of the aspects of the New Jedi Order that Connel missed was the open Knighting Ceremonies. Normally, historically it was a private affair, but the New Jedi Order had changed that, believing that other Jedi should witness the ascension of a new Knight. It was a way to strengthen the bonds within the Order, Connel liked that aspect of it and Father had always told him that the Jedi were like a family. True, it did not seem that way with this current Order as much, but that was probably more on him than on others.

As he walked in and looked around, he saw a few familiar faces. Colette Colette was there, of course, and so was Balun Dashiell Balun Dashiell . He had not seen @Alieni Ifor Xeriac in a while but the Zorren was there as well. It was good to see him making an effort, it was good to see everyone there, it meant that Feng was making a better impression than she had no doubt thought.

Hopefully her personal invitation hadn't gotten lost in the holonet. If it had, Dominique wouldn't had heeded its absence; even if there hadn't been an open invitation. While the Chancellor hadn't much time spent with the young Feng Huang Feng Huang -- not nearly so much as Ayumi -- they had bumped into one another now and then. Which only meant this delightful occasion demanded attendance. It didn't change the shape of the galaxy, but events that did were predicated on little moments like these. Celebrations of achievement and growth that came not only with time, but dedication.

The Chancellor of the High Republic strode through the garden with a smile perched on her lips. She wore her customary and fashionable white uniform with cuts of royal purple. It was a formal event, after all. Feng deserved a show of respect. And the Jedi Order, of course, wouldn't eschew a little show of respect for them and their ways by the Chancellor either.

"Preening like a mother hen?" Dominique said softly as she stopped along side Ayumi Pallopides Ayumi Pallopides . Unlike the Jedi, her friend and Senator didn't need to feign modesty. Not that Ayumi often held back. Feng was a close associate of Ayumi, however, so Dominique fully expected her to feel quite proud of this Knighting.

Meri Vale still was not entirely convinced the invitation had been intended for her.

She had checked it twice after receiving it, then a third time several days later simply to make certain she had not misunderstood something. Knighting ceremonies were important occasions. The sort of events attended by Masters, Knights, senators, diplomats, and people who generally seemed far more significant than archaeology students who spent most of their time buried in ruins. Yet the invitation had remained stubbornly genuine no matter how many times she examined it. Feng had invited her, and declining had never seriously occurred to her.

The gardens were already beginning to fill when she arrived. Lanterns hung among the greenery, soft light catching on white fabrics and formal attire. The atmosphere felt warm, celebratory, and far more elegant than most places Meri usually found herself. She paused briefly near the entrance, quietly taking it all in. Feng was easy enough to spot near Master Wu, while Connel stood among several gathered Jedi. Most of the others were strangers. Some she recognized by reputation alone, though she doubted any of them would recognize her in return.

Which, frankly, suited her perfectly.

Her gray eyes drifted across the gathering until they settled on a figure standing somewhat apart from the growing crowd. Aileni appeared to have adopted a strategy remarkably similar to her own. He stood near the back, observing rather than participating, looking entirely comfortable as the event unfolded around him. Meri found the sight oddly reassuring. At least she was not the only person present who seemed uncertain about where exactly they were supposed to stand.

Rather than approaching immediately, she quietly made her way toward a position near the edge of the gathering where she could observe without drawing attention to herself. It offered a clear view of the ceremony while minimizing the likelihood of becoming involved in conversations with distinguished Jedi she had never met. From there, she folded her hands behind her back and allowed herself a small smile.

Feng looked happy.

That, more than the decorations, the guests, or the formality of the occasion, made the entire journey worthwhile. Whatever lingering doubts Feng might still carry about herself, she had earned this day. Meri knew enough about her to be certain of that. So she settled comfortably into the background, content to watch, support her friend, and avoid becoming noticeable if at all possible.

Which, she suspected, was exactly the sort of thing that guaranteed someone would notice her.

Verity entered the venue with a kind of uncharacteristic uncertainty.

She was not typically struck with feeling out of place. As a member of Druckenwell's nobility, there were limited doors that would not open for her. And since her election to the High Republic Senate things had gone much the same. But the Jedi Order was a peculiar thing. Part of the Republic and yet apart from it, their ceremonies and traditions were somewhat opaque to the Senator. To observe a Knighting Ceremony, which her Chief of Staff Lucien Varencourt suggested may be akin to some sort of graduation or confirmation, was a rare treat, but she still felt like a fish out of water.

She wanted to ensure she didn't abuse the privilege, or somehow increase the tensions between the Senate and the Jedi Order by putting her foot in it.

She had dressed appropriately, she hoped, in a pale blue skirt suit and ivory blouse. Senatorial without being matronly, and certainly not flashy enough to pull focus from the main event. Minimal jewelry and a nude leather handbag rounded out her ensemble, and inside the handbag she carried a small, sleek velvet jeweler's gift box, within which the custom gold-and-enamel cloak clasp sat. A gold pen, she had replied to Varencourt's suggestion, seemed impractical for a Jedi Knight.

Verity caught site of Ayumi and Dominique across the space and, lifting her chin, began working her way through the attendees to greet them. "Chancellor," she said, lowering her chin deferentially to Dominique. "Senator." She smiled fondly and took them in before switching to a less formal tone now that the niceties had been observed. "Dominique, Ayumi. You both look sensational, as always. Little Feng Huang Feng Huang all grown up. I have a handkerchief in my bag if you feel the need to weep," Verity said confidentially to Ayumi. Ayumi had known Feng longest, but the truth was all three of the women had reason to be grateful to the Jedi. They benefited from the attentive care toward security and safety that Feng provided to Ayumi almost as much as Ayumi herself did.

"Do we think there are going to be snacks after?" Verity murmured quietly to the two women. "I have some pistachios in my purse just in case, but we must be discreet. I didn't bring enough for the whole Jedi Order."

Wu was proud of Feng he was proud of the young woman she had become, rproud of the growth she had gone through, she had gone from a padawan eager to prove herself even contemplating joining the Lightsworn. That had been a terrifying time for Wu, he did not think the Lightsworn or any similar path was the path for Feng, it was not the life of righteous adventure she had thought it to be. Still he had done his best to guide her away from that path by relying on the High Republic and it's Jedi hoping Feng would find a community judging by the assembled crowd she had.

Wu was a somewhat solitary Jedi by comparison, as Feng had found her place amongst the High Republic he had taken a step back. Trusting in Feng to make the right decisions. Wu hadn't told Feng this but it was her courage in standing up to the formation of the Vanguard that had suggested to Wu she might be ready for Knighthood. It had been an important moment for Feng. To stand up to her superiors and hold fast to her beliefs of redemption. It showed fortitude.

Feng had realistically had the skills for the beginning of the responsibility of the Jedi Knights for awhile now, her missions with @Aiden and @Connel proved that. It was her only herself that was holding her back. Once she had demonstrated her convictions and her principles Wu had taken the initiative to ask Feng what she was waiting for.

It had been the gentle push she had needed, and now they were here. Wu gave Feng a few moments to absorb the presence of those gathered in celebration of her achievement.

"Feng it is time." Wu said laying a gentle hand on her shoulder.

Feng smiled and nodded.

Wu turned to the assembled guests.

"Before we begin I would like to thank you all for coming, in celebration of Feng's achievement of Knighthood. It has been a long tough journey but she is finally ready, more than ready, to accept the burdens and responsibilities of Knighthood. Thank you for sharing that moment with us."

Wu turned to Feng

"Please kneel"

Feng did so.

Wu laid his bo staff on her shoulder, moving it over her head from right to left.

"By the right of the Ancient Orders, by the will of the Force, I dub thee Jedi"

Feng waited still feeling butterflies as the seats filled up. It was a good selection of the people she'd invited and she recognised a couple of others from the Order. It was strange, exciting almost terrifying to think she would soon be of equal rank to many of them. It felt like only a few days ago that she was taking lessons from Balun or being guided on a mission by Connel. From now on those decisions would be entirely up to her, in more ways than one.

Despite her nerves, Feng was excited to take the next step in her journey in life. She realised she was tired of being a padawan held back as much by her fears as her rank. Taking this step on her path was an important step not just for her progression as a Jedi but for her development as a person. It was time to move forward in life. She was grateful she could do so with the support of those who had come.

Feng looked out at the gathered crowd. Ayumi Pallopides Ayumi Pallopides looked beautiful and elegant as ever, Feng had expected a stunning gown, but the simple elegance of her outfit spoke volumes. Feng was glad she could make it, it meant a lot that Feng could count on her support. In fact Feng was grateful and glad they could all make it.

Balun Dashiell Balun Dashiell with his calm wisdom, Connel Vanagor Connel Vanagor with his stoic forthrightness, Aileni Ifor Xeraic Aileni Ifor Xeraic with his slightly brooding stare, she recognised the Jedi Colette Colette , she didn't know her well but was nonetheless pleased that someone from the Jedi Order had attended. She was glad Meri Vale Meri Vale could make it the woman's precision positivity would be a welcome addition.

"Feng it is time." Master Wu said softly.

Feng smiled and nodded.

Wu made a brief gesture of thanks to those in attendance, Feng kneeled, when she rose it would be as a knight. It was in a daze. Was it that simple? Now she was a knight. It seemed surreal that it could be that succinct. The moment she'd been waiting for her entire life, and she'd been worried about her dress getting dirty.

Then Feng looked up into Wu's eyes shining with tears of pride and a big goofy smile on his face, Feng felt tears in her eyes as well she beamed. Feng rose a knight. She turned to the crowd unsure of what to say.

"Thank you all for coming. It means a lot." Feng caught Ayumi's eye and winked. It seemed inadequate to express her gratitude, but it was all Feng could think of.

"Now let's eat!" Feng said with a laugh.

SHe looked at the ones who were coming and only adjusted her robe briefly. Modified from the old design she had and listening to Feng's master as he spoke the words. SHe gave a nod and waited. Seeing her in that moment prepared for any number of things. She returned the wink to Feng who was speaking and offering food as she saw Verity and Dominique. "It is nice to see the two of you came in support. These ceremonies can be so... interesting depending which order does them." She offered a more gentle laugh before she was looking at Feng while she walked with a moment. "Well don't you look all fancy as a jedi knight now Jedi Feng."

Meri had remained comfortably near the edge of the gathering throughout the ceremony, content to observe rather than participate. The entire affair had been surprisingly brief. Years of training, growth, doubt, success, failure, and perseverance distilled into a handful of words and a simple gesture. Yet watching Feng rise afterward, seeing the expression on both her face and Master Wu's, made it clear that the significance of the moment had very little to do with how long it took.

As the crowd began to shift toward the food, Meri allowed herself a small smile. She had suspected Feng would make an excellent Knight long before today. If anything, she had spent more time convincing herself she was not ready than anyone else had. Seeing her standing there now, surrounded by friends, mentors, senators, and fellow Jedi, felt less like a promotion and more like the formal acknowledgment of something that had already become true.

Drifting closer to the growing cluster around Feng, Meri arrived just in time to hear Ayumi's greeting. The corner of her mouth twitched upward. "I admit I was expecting at least three additional rituals, a lengthy recitation of ancient Jedi history, and perhaps a ceremonial puzzle involving obscure philosophy." Her gray eyes shifted briefly toward Feng. "Instead it appears becoming a Jedi Knight is surprisingly efficient."

There was a warmth in her expression that rarely appeared outside conversations about ruins or discoveries. "Congratulations, Feng." The words were simple, sincere, and entirely free of embellishment. "Everyone else seems relieved that you finally stopped finding reasons to postpone it."

A faint hint of dry amusement followed the observation before she glanced toward the food tables beginning to attract attention. "Also, I feel obligated to point out that your announcement appears to have increased the velocity of several guests moving toward the refreshments. Which suggests your first official act as a Knight has been met with widespread approval."

Walking over to Feng, he offered a short curt bow to her and her former Master. He genuinely wanted to stay, but having received a serious message from a scumbag on Darvannis, other side of the hyperlane, he had to move and move now. He looked at the both of them and said simply: My former Master once told me “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full Armor of the Force, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand” He looked at the both of them. I have to go, but know that you are well deserving of my respect, and if you ever need me, call.

Without another word, he turned and strode out of the room.

Aiden stood near the back, making no effort to draw attention to himself or become too involved in the proceedings. The Jedi Knight had worked alongside Feng on several occasions, and he had always admired the grace, strength, and dedication with which she carried out her duties. Seeing all that she had accomplished on this day filled him with a quiet sense of pride.

As their eyes met across the gathering, a small smile touched his features. He offered her a warm, respectful nod, accompanied by a gentle smile that spoke more clearly than words ever could. It was a simple gesture, but one that conveyed his admiration and congratulations for a moment well earned.

Ivy arrived just in time to hear Master Wu's knighting speech.

She slipped quietly into the gardens, relieved she hadn't missed the ceremony entirely. The lanterns, fabrics, and warm atmosphere gave the entire event a dreamlike quality, and for a moment she simply stood near the back of the gathering, taking it all in.

Part of that was intentional. Many of the people present had known Feng Huang Feng Huang far longer than Ivy had. Masters, Knights, senators, close friends, and fellow Padawans who had shared years of experiences together. Ivy felt a little shy among them all. She didn't want to push her way to the front or accidentally take space meant for those closest to Feng. So she remained respectfully toward the rear of the crowd, content to watch.

She had borrowed a slightly more elegant set of Temple robes for the occasion, layered in soft ivory and sand-colored fabrics. Ivy had spent far longer than she cared to admit trying to figure out what one was supposed to wear to a Jedi Knighting Ceremony before eventually deciding that formal Temple robes were probably the safest option.

For once, she had left her hair down. Her dark brown waves, threaded with their distinctive silver streaks, had been carefully brushed, styled, and tamed with an unreasonable amount of hair cream and mousse. The polished curls reached nearly to the middle of her back, swaying gently whenever she moved.

Even so, Ivy barely thought about her own appearance once she saw Feng. The white-and-gold dress was beautiful. No, Feng was beautiful. Ivy couldn't help smiling as she admired her friend from afar. There was something radiant about the way Feng carried herself today. The dress certainly helped, but more than that, there was a confidence in Feng that Ivy hadn't seen before. Like a bride at her own wedding, Feng deserved to shine and stand out.

The ceremony itself proved pleasantly brief. A few words, a simple gesture, and suddenly Feng Huang was no longer Padawan Feng Huang. She was Jedi Knight Feng Huang. That was it? Ivy blinked in surprise. Years of training and growth condensed into a single moment. Despite the swell of pride she had for her friend, Ivy couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy at her own lack of Knighthood. Quickly though, Ivy shooed away those insecurities.

As guests began moving toward the food and congratulations, Ivy eagerly made her way forward, as politely as she could, holding the wrapped parcel in her hands carefully against her chest as she shuffled forward little by little through the gathering.

Hopefully she had saved the best for last.

Finally, an opening in the crowd appeared. Ivy immediately seized it. "Hi Feng! You did it!" Ivy's face lit up with delight as she hurried over, giving an excited little bounce on her toes before wrapping Feng in a quick hug, excited for Feng's success. Pulling back, Ivy grinned brightly. "I got a present for you." She offered the parcel with both hands.

Inside were several packets of tea herbs and incense nestled as protective stuffing around the true gift: A handcrafted candle holder. Its frame combined polished wood and metal etched with tropical motifs. Small artificial waves curled around a miniature shoreline, surrounding the central candle chamber. When a candle was lit inside, the heat generated subtle currents that caused the translucent blue water within to gently swirl and flow, creating the illusion of an endlessly moving ocean.

Resting inside the holder was a scented, pastel ombre teal-and-beige candle carrying the aroma of Kattada's tropical beaches. Salty air, ocean breezes, sun-warmed sand, a hint of native fruit. The world where both Feng's and Ivy's Jedi journeys had begun at the Kattadan Jedi Enclave.

Ivy had thought the candle might be useful during meditation sessions. Or perhaps on difficult days when Feng simply wanted a reminder of home, a reminder of where she started and how far she'd come.

Ivy rocked lightly on her heels, suddenly feeling a little nervous now that the gift was actually being presented. "Happy Knight Day!" She beamed with a smile. The declaration was delivered with sincerity despite having invented the holiday less than three seconds ago. "I don't think that's a real holiday yet," Ivy admitted. "But it should be," she teased.

Balun Dashiell stood patiently with his hands behind his back, watching and listening to the words of Master Wuxia Wukong Wuxia Wukong as he proceeded with the short yet nonetheless sweet ceremony of Knighthood for Feng Huang Feng Huang . Master Wukong was not someone whom the younger Jedi Knight had previously met, yet when the Shifala Jedi started by thanking everyone who attended for his apprentice's benefit, Balun offered a grateful smile and nodded in return.

To see ones Padawan reach the rank of Jedi Knight wasn't a reflection on the student alone, but also the teachings and wisdom of the mentor; not something that Balun had previously considered during his own ceremony, and he imagined Feng's nerves were heightened much the same as his were on the given day, yet seeing Master and soon-to-be Knight standing at the forefront of the ceremony today, Balun silently congratulated the two and wished them both all the best for where the future would take them, particularly Feng who would undergo a period of adapting from the life of an Apprentice to the role and responsibilities of a Jedi Knight.

As Feng took a knee, and Master Wukong lowered his bo staff to touch upon the young woman's shoulders, Balun's smile remained. 'Now your journey truly begins', Balun thought as he watched from a short distance. Still in the pursuit of learning who he was as a member of the mentor body of the Order, Balun felt proud to see Feng rise as the newest addition to their roster. Every Jedi was unique in what they could offer the Order and the wider Galaxy, whether through skill or personal bearing; no two Jedi were the same, just as no two people were entirely similar. What Feng would bring to the table, the Jedi Knight greatly looked forward to seeing in the coming months ahead.

Thanking everyone, then suggesting they enjoy the spread of food prepared for the occasion, Feng elicited a quiet chuckle from Balun. Before turning away, however, he bent at the waist, lowering his head and bowed in formal recognition of her new rank and title. Whether she saw the gesture or not mattered less than the purpose and respect behind the act, for there were others seeking to congratulate Feng, yet Balun felt it would've been improper not to adhere to the formality. Once upon a time, tradition and formalities were the least of his concerns, yet as she would discover, a Jedi Knight was also a role model to the student roster.

It was time to eat, time to let Feng breathe easier and enjoy the shared company of the day.

"Speech"

'Thought'

Feng blushed at Ayumi Pallopides Ayumi Pallopides words. Though for once it wasn't with embarrassment but with pride. It felt good to take this next step. Feng had requested and Wu had agreed to keep the ceremony short and sweet. Mostly because Feng just wanted to get it over with.

"So, think you can survive the political scandal of conflicting interests of dating a Jedi Knight?" Feng asked a twinkle in her eye.

Feng laughed at Meri's analytical assessment, it was very in tune with who she was as a person precise, clean with just that hint of warmth. Feng wasn't sure how she did it, but listening to Meri speak had a certain poetry, lilt, cadence and rhythm.

"Thank You Meri, and thank you for coming. It means a lot that you would. I hope the ceremony wasn't too much of a dissatisfaction for you. I requested it be short, sweet and to the point. Please enjoy the food, mingle enjoy yourself as well."

"Thank you for coming Mast-
Connel Vanagor Connel Vanagor ." Feng amended her address after a moment. It felt odd. She was sorry to see him go so soon, but duty waited for no one. Feng understood that, no doubt she'd have to forego several social occasions in the course of her duties going forward.

Feng beamed at Aiden Porte Aiden Porte from across the gathering, she met his gaze with warmth and inclined her head deeply in response to his nod.

"Ivy! You made it! I'm so glad!" Feng exclaimed eagerly. "A present? You didn't have to."

Nonetheless Feng took the present with gratitude. Feng admired the artistry of the candle holder for a few moments turning it so she could examine it thoroughly, as for the candle she sniffed cautiously, gasped, closed her eyes and took a deep breath in through her nose. The smell of home.

"Thank you. I look forward to being able to meditate with the immersing of home even whilst I'm far away from it. I'll save it for when I need it most." Feng accepted and promised

Feng laughed at Ivy Maro Ivy Maro declaring it Feng's Knight Day.

"I'll do my best to attend yours when the time comes. It doesn't have to be as short as mine, it's a very personal choice as to what yours would entail. Sometimes there are speeches, other times a whole mess of Masters stand around the padawan with their lightsabers held in salute, theirs lots of variations to it."

Feng rushed to reassure her.

"I just wanted it simple, get it over with. Besides the real celebration is with those who came out in support." Feng explained.

Feng looked around at the others gathered making note of those she had yet to greet, promising herself that she would at least try to express her gratitude before the day was done. Aileni Ifor Xeraic Aileni Ifor Xeraic , Dominique Vexx Dominique Vexx , Verity Stuyveris Verity Stuyveris , Balun Dashiell Balun Dashiell and Colette Colette

"Now let's eat!" Feng made a grab for Ayumi's hand and led her over to the table of food she started piling on some vegetarian fried rice.

She looked at her and gave it a moment to let her talk to the others while walking. "Scandal... Oh Knight Feng." Ayumi gave a low, warm laugh more breath than sound escapes her as Feng's question hangs in the air a moment longer. Ayumi's hand lifts, not to touch, but to hover a hairsbreadth from under Feng's jaw, feeling the heat of her skin without making contact. "I told you, no scandal. I happily let things be known. Her thumb finally brushes the corner of Feng's mouth and Ayumi's eyes track the motion with an intensity that has nothing to do with the crowd behind them. She steps forward, just one step, close enough that the hem of her robe brushes against Feng's boots.

The air between them thickening, charged with the particular electricity of a moment that she focused on with the force. The blood remaining in her ears as a heartbeat stretched to an eternity. "A good reward for such an achievement." she murmurs, and the words sounding different in her mouth less like a rank and more like a promise. Her eyes glint with something wicked and then she leans in, quick and deliberate, pressing her lips to Feng's mouth in a kiss that is perfectly serene. Her fingers find Feng's jaw as she traces a finger along it. Her words coming out as she smiles and raises an eyebrow. "I think I can handle dating a beautiful woman with a lightsaber."

Ivy’s smile softened as Feng Huang Feng Huang admired the candle holder, and a warm little swell of relief settled in her chest. She was glad Feng seemed to enjoy it, glad the gift had landed the way she’d hoped it would.

“Ah, like a wedding,” Ivy commented, nodding in understanding when Feng explained how personalized and varied knighting ceremonies could be, and that she had wanted hers to be short and to the point. The comparison made sense to Ivy; a ceremony that mattered this much ought to feel personal, not like a performance. Her face brightened again when Feng said she would try to attend Ivy’s own knighting ceremony someday. If that ever happened. Ivy could hardly picture that far ahead; the thought was too big and distant, almost mythical for now. “Aw, thanks,” she said, her tone bright with appreciation and a sheepish little tilt of her head when Feng added that the real celebration was for the people who had come to support her.

No need to ask her twice. The moment Feng invited everyone to eat, Ivy happily let herself be swept into the flow of the gathering and headed for the buffet line at last, her appetite catching up with her after all the excitement. She reached the table and zeroed in on the spring rolls, piling a few on her plate and savoring the crispy crunchiness of the flour wrappers. For a moment Ivy felt wonderfully content, standing with a plate in her hands, surrounded by warmth and celebration.
