Culture

There exist two entirely separate cultures here on Farquar III. For the most part, Geonosian society here remains indistinguishable from Geonosian society on their home planet. The caste system is as harsh as ever. The only real difference is that Geonosian nobility has been replaced with Skakoan administrators.

The Skakoans are very much the ruthless, landed elite of the planet. They spend as much time as possible in luxury spires that dot the planet; far away from the harsh conditions of the Geonosian hives they own. They disdain the Geonosians and hold them in, more or less, the same esteem as droids.

Technology

Technology on Farquar III rests comfortably at galactic standard. Although it isn't a popular destination, it isn't isolated.

History

The book of Farquar III is short and boring. And written very long ago.

The Farquar System might have been visited by Celestials, Columi, or even Rakata. If they did, they didn’t leave any indication of their being there. It’s of little surprise why: Farquar lacked any discernible features that would be of use to them. It was uninhabited, difficult to establish colonies on, and appeared to lack any immediately interesting strategic resources. By all accounts, it was just another big rock in an excessively big galaxy.

It wasn’t until 13,777 BBY that the Farquar System is first “discovered” by intrepid Duros space explorer Gunterfur Farquar. Being of large ego and little imagination, Gunterfur named every single celestial object in the system, and the system itself, after himself. The sun was designated Gunterfur I, the large gas giant Gunterfur II, and the small, rocky planet that orbited the gas giant Gunterfur III. However, a clerical error resulted in the system being designated Farquar, and its resident formations Farquar I, etc. Due to the inefficient bureaucracy of the Republic, Gunterfur died of old age before the corrections could ever be made. The necessary paperwork is likely still out there, lost in the void.

The Farquar system went undisturbed for much of galactic history. Some mining companies stripped the planet of what few ore veins there were and then promptly left. Things did not really become interesting in this part of space until the early onset of the Separatist Crisis. The Trade Federation was forced to dismantle their droid armies, but did so only begrudgingly. They also did this with the intent of teaming up with their other powerful corporate allies and establishing many battle droid factories on many remote planets.

Farquar III met the prerequisites for one such remote planet.

In secret, several Geonosian hives were transplanted onto the world. The whole operation was financed by wealthy Skakoan industrialists, who also moved onto the planet. While the Geonosians toiled away in gargantuan underground factories, the Skakoan industrialists and their families lived in large, lavish luxury spires: decadent apartment complexes not unlike the ones seen on Metellos.

Ultimately the Skakoans who benefited from this clandestine operation turned their backs on the Confederacy of Independent Systems when it came time to support the war effort. Only one factory, which happened to be the largest and de jure planetary authority, aligned itself with the Separatists and began production of war-related products and droids. Before those Skakoans Confederates could discipline the turncoat neighbors, a Republic task force arrived to quash the Confederate operation. They moved swiftly, destroying the major droid production facility.

In return for their complacency and abandoning their allies, the remaining Skakoans and Geonosians were allowed to remain on the planet and continue their production of electronics and other consumer goods. They continued to do so for centuries, being largely ignored by a multitude of threats. Galactic Empire, Rebel Alliance, Yuuzhan-Vong, Imperial Remnant, Galactic Alliance, Fel Empire, One Sith… The Farquar System was largely ignored, and its inhabitants wouldn’t have it any other way.

There were periods of prosperity and near-collapse, as with most planets. Factories opened and closed with frequency over the years. This endless cycle of boom and bust only came to an end with the Gulag Plague, when bust became the permanent state of affairs. With the exception of one Geonosian hive and a couple Skakoan spires, all life on Farquar III was wiped out.

Since then, Farquar III’s inhabitants have rebuilt. More Geonosian hives migrated to the world after the Selectivst occupation of the Geonosis system. Seeking more opportunities to do business, Skakoans arrived as well and quickly established dominance over those newly immigrated hives. Just as things were beginning to improve, the Netherworld Crisis struck. The Skakoans in their spires behaved far more chaotically than their Geonosian servants. For the most part, the Geonosians carried on as usual, since they required little oversight from the Skakoans who lorded over them. Following the end of the Crisis, most of the missing Geonosians were returned, but most of the elderly Skakoans remained missing. This has resulted in a power vacuum, wherein younger and less experienced Skakoans have taken over the reigns, hampering production on the planet.

Farquar III has great potential as an industrial world, although it presently isn't recognized due to inexperienced leadership.

So I only have two things that need to be addressed as I will outline below:
  • Can you please re-arrange the sub to fit the template? I noticed several of the fields have been moved around and I at first didn't know if they were there.
  • I need you to add mention of what happened to the planet when the Netherworld event occurred, details of which can be found in the Holonet timeline section
