- Agile Rifle - The FAE/W-12 Assault Carbine is a small and light weapon, making it a good choice for close-quarters combat due to its agility. In addition, the weapon finds frequent use in the hands of individuals from smaller species, who may be less able to comfortably handle the recoil force or weight of a full-sized rifle.
- Blistering Fire - While the FAE/W-12 Assault Carbine has an average rate of fire relative to most slugthrower assault rifles, in this regard it outperforms the rate of fire of a blaster rifle, most of which are limited to semi-automatic.
- Mud Shooter - The FAE/W-12 Assault Carbine is designed with an eye towards reliability and ease-of-use. It is an ideal weapon for handling rough field conditions.
- Ammunition Weight - Pound for pound, energy weapons are generally more efficient than slugthrowers. Unfortunately, the FAE/W-12 Assault Carbine is no exception to this. Magazines are larger and heavier than power cells, limiting how many can be carried at a time.
- Reload - The FAE/W-12 Assault Carbine’s 30 round capacity isn’t a lot next to the capacity of a typical blaster rifle’s power cell. Accordingly, it goes without saying that shooters may find themselves needing to reload more often than they otherwise would if using a blaster.
- Mechu-deru - Like any piece of technology, the FAE/W-12 Assault Carbine is susceptible to Mechu-deru and other technology-twisting powers. A talented practitioner of such esoteric sorceries could induce a jam or some other mechanical failure that might compromise the weapon entirely or demand precious time to fix, leaving the shooter vulnerable.
- Surged - A bevy of electronic subsystems are incorporated into the FAE/W-12 Assault Carbine. EMP / Ion-base discharges could knock out these subsystems, thereby depriving the user of electronic targeting aids and imaging systems.
A simple, reliable addition to First United Astral Engineering’s line of personal weapons, the FAE/W-12 Assault Carbine is a light weight, short-barreled assault rifle optimized for reliability, versatility, agility, and lethality in a compact platform. Although not officially contracted for sale towards any Brotherhood of the Maw-aligned organizations, the FAE/W-12 Assault Carbine has been found in the hands of Mawite Marauders in more than a few instances, indicating sale via backroom channels.
Apart from its electronic targeting aids, visual imaging systems, and networking systems housed in the computerized interface scope, the FAE/W-12 Assault Carbine is a relatively simple design. It is an ideal battlefield weapon, lethal enough to challenge most armors, while being based on common technologies for quick maintenance.
All in all, the FAE/W-12 Assault Carbine is outwardly marked as a freedom fighter’s weapon, in spite of the fact that the vast majority of its users have far darker intentions.
