SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Modularity - The Yammka is highly modular, capable of fitting different optics, grips, and tripod and bipod mounts, in addition to a myriad of other customizations. It can also be fitted on a vehicle or integrated into a heavy power armor.
  • Damage Potential - The Yammka chambers an oversized round for a weapon of its class. As such, it hits hard in most circumstances, with enough damage potential to put down many types of targets, typically up to light vehicles and material.
  • Long Range - The Yammka has a long range for a weapon of its class. To a limited degree, it can function in the capacity of a sniper, though is very limited in this role because of accuracy issues past 600 meters.
  • Capacity - While the ammunition is heavy, the Yammka has a large capacity for a slugthrower. Plenty of firepower is left at the user(s) disposal.
WEAKNESSES
  • Ammunition Weight - Pound for pound, energy weapons are generally more efficient than slugthrowers. Unfortunately, the Yammka is no exception to this. Ammunition pouches and boxes are larger and heavier than power cells, limiting how many can be carried at a time.
  • The Yammka is considered to be man-portable, but in truth, this term really only applies to Wookiees or soldiers clad in some form of strength-enhancing power armor. In most cases, a two-soldier team is recommended to keep the weight down.
  • Long Range Accuracy - Past 600 meters, the Yammka’s accuracy is less than match grade. While it still retains fantastic damage potential over long ranges, hitting a target might hinge on volume of fire over precision and accuracy past the aforementioned range increment.
  • EMP/Ion - A bevy of electronic subsystems are incorporated into the Yammka, including a few to aid in controlling the weapons recoil. EMP/Ion-base assaults can knock out these subsystems, thereby making the weapon marginally more difficult to control, in addition to disabling the electronic targeting aids.
  • Mechu-deru - Like any piece of technology, the Yammka is susceptible to Mechu-deru and other technology-twisting powers. A talented practitioner of such powers could induce a jam or some other mechanical failure that might compromise the weapon entirely or demand precious time to fix, leaving the user(s) vulnerable.
DESCRIPTION
Needing an in-house design for a medium machine slugthrower for its fleet of light vehicles, First United Astral Engineering commissioned the FAE/W-09 “Yammka” Medium Machine Gun to fill this role. While slugthrowers are often considered to be primitive or barbaric in the context of modern warfare, the weapon class has its advantages over blaster and energy weapons, though these also come with a host of disadvantages. Nevertheless, the Yammka was designed to typical First United Astral Engineering standards, including a host of integrated electronics for added utility, a high level of modularity allowing it to be used in a wide range of configurations, and conditions.

All in all, while the Yammka might be considered to be a “primitive” weapon according to conventional standards, it is undeniably embedded in a modern age of warfare, presenting slugthrowers as a viable alternative to energy weapons.
