SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Comprehensive Treatment - Owing to its comprehensive systems, the FAE/MT-01 is quite versatile. The suite can be used by droids serving across a wide range of specialist medical roles, including nurses, surgical assistants, med-techs, and more.
  • Diagnosis - Provided the host unit has a droid brain with enough processing power, the FAE/MT-01 can run a full gamut of diagnostic tests, thereby expediting treatment.
WEAKNESSES
  • Prerequisite Classes - By itself, the FAE/MT-01 is not enough to immediately turn a droid into a full-fledged medical doctor or surgeon (unless the droid was already such prior to installation of the suite). Generally, the droid requires an advanced, sentient-capable droid brain to reach this stage, along with many hours of practice. Without the necessary droid brain, the suite will render the droid as little more than an extremely capable medical assistant or med-tech. Without the necessary experience, a droid (presuming that the droid possesses the requisite cognitive unit) with this suite freshly installed might be more equivalent to a resident doctor or physician assistant.
  • Short Range - Most of the medical sensors and diagnostic systems in the suite have a very short range, generally no more than 5 meters. This can limits its efficacy in cases where patients may be trapped or in dangerous situations (i.e., a patient under the rubble of a collapsed building).
DESCRIPTION
The FAE/MT-01 Droid Medical-Surgical Suite is a comprehensive package of systems designed to equip a droid with the necessary skills and programming to serve across a wide range of medical roles. In this regarding, it is capable of turning most droids into medical specialists (i.e., turning an astromech into an astromedic). In particular, the suite contains a litany of medical sensors which are typically used for diagnostic and assessment purposes. For treatment purposes, the suite has a collection of medical instruments, allowing the droid to perform tasks ranging from drug administration to surgery (provided the droid has the necessary prerequisites).

However, while the FAE/MT-01 is comprehensive, it can not instantly turn any droid into a capable doctor or surgeon. This requires both an advanced, sentient-capable droid brain and practice experience (real or simulated) to achieve. The medical sensors also have a short range, limiting their utility in dangerous situations.

Nevertheless, the FAE/MT-01 Droid Medical-Surgical Suite is hoped to push the limits of autonomous medicine and treatment options, while easing care gaps to make medical treatment more affordable to wider segments of the galactic populace.
