Where's a candidate who wants to take over and openly declare the GA as a Jedi Theocracy (since it already is one)?
Yes, but funny bullshit. There's way too much bullshit in here.
I'll answer serious questions in the voting thread and enjoy the rest of my vacation.
WithKatherine Holt having rescinded their nomination, and
Valery Noble our only serious candidate as of now (Tef I love your enthusiasm but please, don't give me hope because you're actually making some reasonable and good points and making some sense, shitposting aside), I think a vote of confidence should still be held in the event that she is our only viable option to vote on.
Her statement in regards to her stepping down as MFO previously give cause for concern on whether they are still able to dedicate the time needed to maintaining the faction and ensuring that it's lead/operated the way it needs that address the concerns of the members.
With some of the points made throughout the nominations, it is clear that a very heavy overhaul is needed to restructure and reorganize the Galactic Alliance as a whole to make it more appealing and fun to write in again because it's clear with the recent fallout between the faction and some longstanding writers/members that things are in dire need of change.
You brought up valid issues. FWIW it's why I accepted the offer to become staff here. I wanted to try to help out and make it more inclusive for people.I’m sorry if my post came across as bullshit. I was trying to be constructive and honest. I don’t dislike any of the people in this faction, especially Val. She has always tried to roleplay with me and keep me involved and I consider her a friend.
But I do feel this faction has some issues that should be addressed. I do not think it’s any one persons fault. I just think it’s important to talk about.

Regardless of who the next MFO is, there needs to be change. If Val wins the seat back, I want there to be significant change for the faction, it can't just be more of the same. If anyone else wins, think about what you want to do, work with your team (whoever they are) and include your people.
I don't care if I keep my seat or not. This entire week has been hell.
I’d love to hear what plans the nominees have for faction direction and story!
This please. I'd like to know for sure no one has thoughts of taking us Minor.
I didn't realise when I nominated Kat that this would become a Q&A but dare I say I think this has set a precident for how I think MFO nominations should be done in the future?
I do genuinely have two questions though, for bothKatherine Holt and
Valery Noble .
How do you both plan on handling relationships with other factions across the chaos board? Obviously we have the SO and GE but there's also a lot of other factions that want to write with the GA and probably members in the GA who want to write with these other factions. Talk us through your plans folks.
Secondly, thoughts on the new bounty system and do you think it can be used to enhance stories being told within the GA, or are you opposed to it entirely? Why?
Three questions for the candidates:
The GA has had a major civility problem over the last week, to the point where it seemed to me to be genuinely unlikely for the faction to be able to continue together. It seems like there was a generalized license to be rude and in some cases outright abusive due to dissatisfaction around the staff change. There have been reports of innuendo and challenges to the motivations of individuals. My question is: is this something that you have a plan to address in the new administration?
Secondly, my experience with the GA has largely been positive, but one thing I think we struggle with is that the GA seems to function as a Jedi faction, but with other branches to give it the shape of a 'secular' (for lack of a better word) power. There have been efforts to get other branches to come into their own with varying degrees of success, but my perception is that the focus is the NJO because that's what's most iconic in Star Wars and that's what people want to write. Is this a fair perception? What are your plans to strengthen the other groups?
Thirdly, related to the second question, we have talked a lot about the Senate and about how to attract people to it, without empowering a largely un-vetted group of writers fundamentally alter the direction and aesthetic and values of the Galactic Alliance faction. How do you feel we can make writing Senators more attractive while still protecting the faction?
Katherine Holt
Valery Noble

I love Valery, the old staff, the new staff, all as people but we are going in circles here.
My stance on this is that people have been right to ask questions. There's been a lot of confusion, admittedly not helped by the amount of preconceived notions, speculation and the like were getting thrown about. I also completely am of the belief that people's emotions clouded actual judgement, and I was probably guilty of that to some degree.
Self-knowledge is a wonderful thing in a potential leader.
To the GA,
Hope you're well. I said I'd sit down today and answer a lot of the questions that have been asked within this thread. This is likely to be a long one, so I don't know if you fancy getting a brew and getting comfy before we start.
I'm going to try and keep some order to these, and I'll @ the relevant people when I answer their question directly. If I miss any, or you want further clarrification on anything I say please feel free to let me know and I'll more than happily provide any further.
I think a lot of my answers are likely to be similar to those ofKatherine Holt as well. For those who are unaware, myself and Katherine sat down and discussed a lot of their answers together when they were originally nominated and we shared a lot of ideas between ourselves.
Just to add onto this (can you tell I'm putting this off haha), I am dyslexic so please be nice. Words are hard, especially this many of a serious nature.
So, without further ado, I suppose I best put a podcast on and crack on. I think I've put this off long enough.
Corazona von Ascania - I didn't realise you got the first question in here, but hello! You want to know what plans I have for faction direction?
Currently, I have two lines of thought. I'll focus on short term first, and then touch on long term just after.
Short term:
The members of the faction have spoken over the last few days and made it very clear that they want to tell a fight back story in the aftermath of the invasion. People don't want to run and hide if we lose the core, they want to keep fighting and honestly, I'm down for that.
I get on quite well with Logan and the GE and I'm a very big believer in collaborative storylines. In the short term, my intention would be to sit down with Logan and his team and look to tell a "War in the Core" style story with our friends over in the GA.
Long term:
My long term plans are very loose currently, with the intention of the faction driving them (I shall expand on this in my answer to a later question). Currently, I have two vague plans. One of these is a vague plan around what happens if we win the invasion of Courscant and the subsequent core wars and the second vague plan is what happens should we lose.
If we win, we have a story to tell around rebuilding in the aftermath of a war. If we lose, we become an Alliance-in-Exile looking to rebuild from the ashes like a Pheonix. Both have cool plot hooks and both offer unique stories to GA writers, plus both come naturally.
Furthermore, I want to keep telling stories with other factions. People within the wider Chaos community seem to like me, for reasons unknown. There's not a current Major Faction Owner whom I don't get on with and I plan to use that to my advantage to work with these Major Faction Owners and their respective staff teams to tell cool stories.
Within the GA itself, my goal is similar to that ofKatherine Holt . I want to give all of the different GA divisions the love and attention they deserve.
Rann Thress has numerous ideas for the GADF for example. I have numerous ideas for the Senate. I know other members within the GA have ideas for respective divisions and I want to use those ideas to build these divisions back up.
Hope that answers your questionCorazona von Ascania !
Makko Vyres - Hey Makko.
Don't stress. No intentions of going minor. I think there's a lot more stories to tell with the GA first.
Hope that answers your question mate!
(Me from the future after answering this question - This one turned out to be wordy, I'm sorry. I ended up providing a lot of context and general thoughts in this one. None of what was said here was meant in anyway to be rude or a dig at anyone in particular. The people named know I have nothing but respect for them. All friends, despite being enemies in the vote haha)
Nulgath Zardai - Hello! This is probably one of my favourite questions that has been asked and one that I intend to spend some time on.
I originally backedKatherine Holt for Major Faction Owner, and I stand by that decision despite Katherine not wanting the role anymore. I had numerous reasons for doing so, and I'll touch on some of them in my answer to this question.
I never thought I'd agree with Tefka's (Fal Gore ) comments in this thread but I have to admit, he has raised some good points over the last few days.
Valery Noble has been the Major Faction Owner of the GA for the best part of two years, with an exception of the week that Amelia has had control. One of the biggest criticisms of the GA within that time is that it became stale and comfortable. People fell into their routines and patterns and that suited some people and didn't others.
When Valery stepped down, she admitted herself that she was struggling with her muse and admitted that she had been doing this for too long. That was 19 days ago, with Valery officially leaving the role on July 12th.
People were originally excited for the idea of change, and I accept as I think everyone else does that it didn't really work out as expected.
What has come out of the last nine days however is the people of this faction want to see change and don't want the GA to return to it's old routines and patterns and that suited some people and didn't others.
So I backed Katherine. They had experience within the GA staff team and this genuine want to bring about change. They were a fresh face with fresh ideas who was also listening to the community and I genuinely thought that Katherine would be the person to bring about some genuine changes.
Obviously that didn't work out how I expected, and I hold no ill will to Katherine for dropping out. They had their own reasons and that's okay. It did however leave me in a bit of a predicament because it left the only runner as Valery. People's comments on here suggested to me people wanted to see someone else run and they suggested to me that people wanted some more choice.
(Me from the future after answering this question - The relevant answer to your question starts here haha)
So yesterday (20/07/2025 - In the correct format haha) I spent roughly twelve hours weighing up my options. I spoke to other people to see if they wanted to step forward and I also weighed up the pros and cons of putting myself forward. I think we all know which I settled with.
I want to tie all of this back to the original question of why do I want to lead.
I have a lot of ideas floating about in my head, some actually relevant to the future of the GA (for those wondering, the rest are typical ADHD chaos haha). As I've mentioned above and I know has been mentioned multiple times throughout this thread as well, the major concern is that the GA has become extremely state and people have fallen into their comfy routines.
Tefka said it best, and I knowKitter Bitters has said it as well but Valery almost feels like a step backwards and a return to that state and comfort that people are familar with. I'm aware obviously that Valery has refuted this, claiming that she has some fresh ideas and a renewed muse but my concerns are that she publically commented 19 days ago that this wasn't the case and that she has taken the faction as far as she can. Even in this thread, she comments that there is a lot of potential now because of the invasion but that invasion had already been announced prior to her stepping down originally.
I like to think that I would be a fresher head at the top, with fresh ideas. Unlike both Katherine and Valery, I've not been around the GA staff team and I see that as both a strength and a weakness. The strength is that I'm not tied to old discussions or habits, able to come in with a completely clean slate and completely original ideas. The weakness? I'm untested in a GA leadership role.
That doesn't mean I'm untested entirely though. I've been around on Chaos for over ten years, throughout that time I've tested my hand in numerous Major Faction (and Minor Faction) staff teams and I've generated some actually competent ideas throughout that time. I've got untold amounts of experience playing the map game from both a writer and staff perspective and I like to think that I have some vague idea of what makes a good map game thread.
Both Katherine and Valery mentioned muse in their answers to this question. I'm very much like Kat in this sense, I have characters across the board pretty much everywhere. It's pretty much what keeps me going and prevents burnout. I do however always come back to the GA, it's what I enjoy and it's where pretty much all of my "team good" characters have been based since it formed years ago.
We're all getting old.
In much the same vein as Katherine, by having these characters spread out it's allowed me to forge bonds and relationships with other writers within other factions on Chaos. As I stated earlier on in this (at time of writing 1650 word) wall of text, I get on well with all of the other Major Faction Owners and I can use this to ensure the best stories for the GA.
Nulgath Zardai hope that answers your question!
Kaelos Vryn - Hello me! I forgot I put some questions in here. I suppose it's only fair I answer them.
In relation to my firest question, I like to think I've answered it above quite a few times. I want to keep telling stories with other factions. People within the wider Chaos community seem to like me, for reasons unknown. There's not a current Major Faction Owner whom I don't get on with and I plan to use that to my advantage to work with these Major Faction Owners and their respective staff teams to tell cool stories.
In relation to my second question, well that one I can expand on some more.
The bounty board offers quite a lot of really cool ideas, and I for one am pro backing and sponsoring bounty hunters (I technically already can as a Codex Judge but yknow). I think the more bounty hunters there are, the better the system will be.
However, I view using the bounty board akin to GADF arrest warrants. I see no reason why I can't have internal GA members with bounty hunter licenses who are acting on GADF bounties to try and make arrests on GA enemies etc. I think there's some really cool stories there. I accept the idea needs some work, but I think there's a very cool system that we can use to help increase the membership of the GADF.
I'll skip the usual hope that answers your question, it's my question haha.
I was waiting for this oneNatasi Fortan , a three in one special. I'll touch on each individually and we'll see what happens.
I.... kind of agree with you.
I can't change what's happened, I'm not superman. The only thing I can do is be different. Be open, be transparant. My intention is to host a "GA Town Hall" where I block out a few hours, jump in a voice chat and just openly answer people's questions. I'll take questions from people that are present and some prewritten questions from people that can't be there. I'm even looking to record it, so people who can't be present can rewatch it.
In terms of individuals, I'm not the type of person that's going to discuss that on a public forum. Anything relating to individual people gets dealt with directly with that individual person. I think that's more than fair, personally.
I get why.
I've not done the Math on this, so I'm spitballing slightly but I'm going to suggest that 80% plus of the GA writerbase falls into the NJO as a main character. As a consequence, I absolutely get why the GA comes across as a "Jedi" faction.
In much the same was a Katherine said and I've said previously in this wall of text, the intention is to sit down and review where all of the different branches are. The GADF, SIA and Senate are admittedly in need of an overhaul and I think with some work they can be made into pillars of the GA once again.
Katherine again nails it. The intention is to get each one to a point where people actively want to RP in them. Right now, there just doesn't seem to be that incentive. I can't do all of these in one go, but I can definitely do one at a time.
This answer is going to be surprisingly quite short.
SeeKatherine Holt 's answer. Katherine will admit it was an idea that I gave them and it is genuinely what I would do. I'm not going to copy and paste it and make this any longer than it needs to be to be entirely honest.
Natasi Fortan hope all of that helps answer your question!
Just to end this, this right here is why I've thrown my hat in the ring.
We're going in circles. Let's break the circle.
Folks,
That all ended up being 3000 words, but I hope it perfectly answers all of the questions I can find. If I've missed any, genuinely let me know.
Thank you,
Ghost
You missed my question so in return I'm having a robot summarize what you said in 100 words.
