“If we move too much faster, we risk sacrificing stealth.” Phaelissia replied to the acolyte in a whisper. Still, the Cipher agent felt the same sense of urgency and unease. Something was going to occur, soon. And the Aetharian had no idea what it could be.

However, where Phaelissia was blind, Eira had sight.

With her powerful connection to the Force, the acolyte would register an uncomfortable, unholy light amidst the torrential currents of the dark side. Emanating from the Cave of Shadows, it was slowly growing more incandescent, and more painful to behold. So much so that it might soon represent a potential threat to her dark side-aligned nature.

Given the unnatural presence of the light side in such sacred ground, it might not take the acolyte long to recognize the unfolding conspiracy. An occurrence of this nature was exactly what they had been sent to investigate and if necessary, bring to an end.

“We are almost at the center of the camp.” Phaelissia said as she came to a halt behind a nearby brush, before allowing a patrol to pass by. “I will set the charges on the generator, while you cover me.” She added in a reminder.

Eira felt a sickness in her stomach as the growing power in the Light Side of the Force burned in her field of vision. It was something that caused blindness to her vision since it was burning her eyes and brain. She wanted to vomit due to the intensity of the Force Light that was building. Eira, however, pushed forward and swallowed the bile in her throat. Eira couldn't enjoy the momentum forward when it was steps closer to the blinding Light that was only getting stronger as time passed by.

"They are using the Force to build powerful Light Side energy. It is sickening." Eira growled under her breathe to Phaelissia. "We need to work quickly to dismantle this operation otherwise, the stronger it becomes, the weaker I will be in a fight." Eira grumbled. She hated to admit that she would not be her strongest but the energy was already sapping from her.

Eira pulled out a dagger and nodded her head to Phaelissia to go set the charges while she controlled herself to maintain a centred self so that she could get through this ordeal.

Phaelissia’s gaze widened at the revelation, at which point the Cipher agent turned back towards the acolyte, her gaze wide with contemplation. In doing so, her enhanced mind parsed through the implications, causing her eyes to briefly go blank before her synthetic pupils returned to focus. A bloodthirsty, yet focused glint emanated from her eyes then, but her expression remained seemingly unchanged..

“It is our mission to purge it, then.” Phaelissia replied. “Are there ways that we might stem its growth until we engage the nexus directly?” She asked.

From there, Phaelissia proceeded deeper into the camp after the patrol had passed them by. Within moments, they arrived at the generator, at which point the Aetharian began to lay out the charges before quietly setting them on various critical sections of the device.

However, it was then that her long, pointed ears gave a sharp twitch. Footsteps. Two sets.

“Two people are coming.” Phaelissia whispered, before casting a pressing glance towards Eira. She needed the acolyte to create a distraction or neutralize whoever it was, while she continued worked on the charges.

Nodding her head, "killing those causing the nexus are the priority. After that, I will need to corrupt the nexus to purge the Light from it." It was a demand that might be too much for herself but it was something that she couldn't afford to stress about. "It isn't solidified enough as a full nexus, so as long as we stop them pouring more energy into it, then dismantling it should be easier."

She cursed the fact that they were attempting something like this, Eira didn't realise how much this would be affecting her and how devastating it would be to her abilities. However, she swallowed deeply, ripping a bit of fabric from her clothing and tying it over her eyes. This was not perfect but it darkened the Light for her eyes to not be as blinded.

Walking up to the first target once Phaelissia mentioned that there were guards coming, she kicked the back of the knee, forcing the guard to fall into her. Eira's arm wrapped around the throat and then snapped the neck. Killing the first guy. Pulling a dagger out of her pocket, she threw the dagger and imbued it with the Force to give it the accuracy to pierce the second's heart.

Killing him instantly and silently. She then used the Force to retrieve her dagger.

The Force moved darkly around a being engaged in the act of murder. And it was that exact darkness which saw the Light emanating from the nexus briefly overshadowed, allowing Eira to see once more. The slaying of the two Ashlan rebels had stemmed the grotesque incandescence in its all-searing advance, giving space for the shadows to flourish.

However, with time, the Light would soon regain what it had lost, unless more correcting action was taken.

“Charges set!” Phaelissia called back to Eira. Having placed the charges in such a way as to conceal them from immediate view, the Cipher was confident that her work would survive a passing glance while she and the acolyte moved towards the cave. However, the unknown factor that was the gestating Light Side nexus caused one of her eyebrows to twitch with alarm.

And yet, Phaelissia knew that now was the time to let the acolyte take the lead.

“I will detonate them as soon as we get inside the cave.” Phaelissia said, as she moved onto Eira’s left flank.

“Then, we will silence the nexus.”

Watching Phaelissia work in setting the charges, Eira nodded her head approvingly. It was good work and Eira was keen on getting away from this toxic Light Side nexus as fast as possible. She could feel it burning her insides, making her wish to vomit and interfering with her abilities. Even as she works to weaken the power by eliminating the rebel forces. It was something that was not instantaneous and completely curative. But she had to push forward, she had end the nexus with her power. It was just a daunting task that she now faced as she looked at the challenge ahead.

Even attempting the meditative crackling of lightning around her arms was no longer possible. She couldn't muster the rage in that moment to do so.

Looking to Phaelissia, "this nexus. It is more dangerous than I realised..." Eira confessed, she hadn't experienced such a thing before and she had no clue on how it would act. "It is a good thing we're here to destroy... I am just unsure how to. It feels like it is draining my abilities..." Eira admitted, she couldn't hide the fears that she was feeling with this.

Stepping towards the caves, she clutched her weapon tightly in her hand. Swallowing the bile she felt building in her throat as she moved forward silently, clinging to the shadows best she could.

The pair moved quickly and silently through the camp, with Eira taking the lead. And yet, Phaelissia saw that the acolyte was flagging, her body language manifesting signs of what could be construed as frustration and fatigue. Fortunately, she seemed intent on pressing forward, leading the way past the patrols until they arrived at the mouth of the cave.

“If what you said before is true, then for now, the nexus can only be as powerful as the strength of the Jedi putting themselves into it.” Phaelissia replied. “We must stop them before they manifest a feedback loop which will make the phenomena self-sustaining.” She stated. At that point, only the intervention of a Sith sorcerer would be sufficient to cleanse it—a fact which the Cipher agent left unspoken. She knew that Eira was more than informed enough to understand what would ensue should they fail.

“When we interrupt their ritual, the Jedi will be forced to reduce the energy they commit into the nexus in order to effectively fight us.” Phaelissia continued, before pulling out the device she had to control the charges. “The charges and the bombardment should disrupt their focus, as well.” She added.

With that, Phaelissia pressed the switch on the device. And suddenly, a large explosion reverberated out from the center of the camp, causing the ground to shake while dust and rocks fell loose from the roof of the cave. All the while, the Cipher gave a short sigh upon seeing that the energy shield surrounding the camp had shut down, at which point she activated her comms device.

“Bomber element, the energy shield is down and we are inside the cave. Begin your bombardment immediately.” Phaelissia reported.

“Copy that, Cipher 666. We are on station and starting our approach. ETA 25 seconds.” Came a feminine voice at the other end.

Phaelissia turned around and moved to follow the acolyte into the safety of the cave, sticking close to the comfort of the shadows in the process. The missiles came only seconds later. A veritable hail of plasma warheads detonated across the camp, killing a large number of Ashlan rebels in the initial barrages!

Hearing the suggestion from Phaelissia, Eira nodded her head, she agreed that the Jedi conducting the ritual needed to be slaughtered before they could get away with creating a full, proper nexus of light that would be devastating for the Sith on the world. It would be sapping the power that this dark world gave them. Eira would push through her struggles and she was determined to prevent such a crime from succeeding.

"Their deaths will also prevent the nexus getting stronger. Then I can destroy it." Eira growled, a renewed rage was building inside her. There had been an initial struggle with her power but the idea of them corrupting Dromund Kaas, taking away the storms and energies that had been poured into the world by the Sith. That was something Eira would rage and refuse to allow the Jedi scum to get away with.

Standing taller, she nodded to Phaelissia as she gave a determined grin, using the shadows of the cave to move around stealthily. Any guards that crossed Eira's path suffered a slit across their throats. There were going to be no survivors from this conflict. As they approach the main chamber where the ritual was taking place and the nexus was growing stronger, Eira looked to Phaelissia, whispering. "Get in a safe position to fight from a distance, I'll get up close and draw attention."

Eira looked to the other woman, she knew Phaelissia was a capable fighter but she figured this would be the best strategy to fight numbers stacked against them.

Upon seeing Eira grin and stand taller, Phaelissia felt a swell of satisfaction in spite of the growing Light Side nexus. Her synthetic eyes lit up with equal parts relief and adoration, a flicker of a smile briefly gracing her features in the process.

“You have more than enough Dark Side potential to see the nexus cleansed of the incandescent rot, Eira. I believe in you.” Phaelissia hissed, her tone yet carrying an undercurrent of encouragement. In doing so, the Cipher agent suddenly realized that she had used the acolyte’s name, causing her gaze to widen with surprise. Conscious of her involuntary expressions, her cheeks flushed crimson as she shook her head, attempting to reset her focus on the mission.

With that, Phaelissia followed Eira as she pushed deeper into the cave. She allowed the acolyte to take out the majority of the guards, save for the last two who were just outside of the main chamber.

The guards were on edge, yet unsuspecting of immediate danger to their persons. They had no chance of registering the pair of lethal presences in their midst before two of the Freezing Fates came flying out from the shadows one after the other, the disc-shaped implements decapitating the two guards in quick, ruthless succession. The superchilled blades froze the flesh down to absolute zero on contact, so there was virtually no blood as the guards’ severed heads were sent flying from their shoulders, dead as soon as they hit the ground.

The bodies remained standing for several seconds thereafter, before suddenly collapsing to the ground like marionettes with their strings cut.

As they approach the main chamber where the ritual was taking place and the nexus was growing stronger, Eira looked to Phaelissia, whispering. "Get in a safe position to fight from a distance, I'll get up close and draw attention."

“Understood. I will support you.” Phaelissia nodded. “Here,” the Cipher detached her energy shield device from her person and attached it to Eira’s utility belt. “Since you are fighting closer and drawing attention, my energy shield will help. It will activate automatically in response to incoming attacks.” The Aetharian explained.

“I will be right behind you, Eira.” Phaelisia promised, her wide, synthetic orbs meeting Eira’s fiery crimson gaze.

Seeing the blush on Phaelissia's cheek caused her to smirk and take note of that. Eira was not going to tease or distract while on the mission but it was something that she could look into teasing once the mission was over. It was something that she needed time to think about how Eira would approach this since she was still very much knew to the Sith Order. This was a first mission and Eira didn't want to cross a line or break a law without realising it. Being cautious and learning about the situation was something Eira needed to think about.

As they moved forward, Eira watched as Phaelissia demonstrated her technology and the ways that it could be used to execute some of the other guards. Eira knew that was something else she would have to explore. Using technology was never going to compare to how the Force work, and definitely how Eira wanted to be at least.

Feeling Phaelissia placing the shield on her belt, Eira raised an eyebrow to her with a smirk, "getting personal there, huh." A slight tease but the young acolyte could not help that.

Pulling out the saber, she charged forward. Moving to the first target, Eira jumped high and plunged her sword down into the chest of the Jedi. Growling deeply like a demon as she pulled the sword out and looked for who would be next. Taking the nexus down was low on her list but the darkness emanating from Eira was only growing stronger since she was letting out the deep bloodlust that she had.

Twirling her sword ready to take down her next target as a crazed grin was etched on her face.

The doors to the main chamber slid open, allowing Eira to charge through them as Phalissia followed in her wake. As the acolyte set herself upon the Jedi, Phaelissia set her sights on the Ashlan rebels guarding the ritual circle, her synthetic gaze glowing in a promise of frozen death.

Twin beams of ionized CryoBan lanced out from her eyes, instantly flash-freezing two of the guards and rendering their forms as statues before they could squeeze the triggers of the rifles which were now frozen inside their grip.

Blue-hued bolts sped towards Phaelissia. However, the Cipher agent was already in motion, her form distorting into a blur as she skated laterally to evade the incoming fire. Her counterattack came immediately. Electricity surged out from her manicured fingers in a continuous discharge of searing galvanism, catching six guards within its coruscating embrace. The smell of burning ozone, then cooked flesh, filled the air as an acrid miasma while the guards’ bodies were boiled from the inside out, before two of them spontaneously erupted in flames.

Her cue that they were dead.

Six more guards arrived from a side passage, blasters spewing plasma fire. Phaelissia exploded into motion, the acceleration implant propelling her form in blistering, zigzag fashion as the bolts chased after her. One winged the Cipher agent across the shoulder, but her bodysuit was robust enough protection that she merely gritted her teeth, a growl rising on her lips.

Then, came fire.

The guards didn’t get far inside the main chamber before violet-hued flames discharged from Phaelissia’s outstretched palm consumed their forms. Terrible, ear splitting screams sounded out, only to suddenly fall silent as the guards were flash-incinerated in the star-hot inferno, reducing most of their bodies to ash in seconds.

In the wake of the rebels’ violent deaths, the ambient energy of their suffering lingered like a haze in the torrential currents of the Force, forming a font of Dark Side power to draw upon to counter the rising Light Side nexus.

All that remained were the three Jedi who were driving the ritual itself.

Eira poured her energy into the sword as she watched as the other three Jedi looked over to Eira, there was a mixture of fear and determination. They could see that the crazed Sith was here to kill, not capture or torture, she would simply kill them for what they were attempting to do. But she was also going to have to deal with three of them, something they assumed would be in their favour. Rolling her shoulders, the usually quite attractive and traditionally beautiful woman turned more demonic, there was a dark, murderous glint in her eyes. Her lips curled into a wicked, unnaturally large smile and her hair looked more wild and tangled to add a feral-ness to Eira's appearance.

The first Jedi swung at her, Eira reached with her free hand and blasted a strong energy of Force Lightning, guiding the Lightsaber away from her. As she did that, the Sith acolyte sliced the throat of the Jedi as she shifted closer to see the light die in his eyes. Laughing demonically as the other two Jedi remained for her to face.

"What are you?!" The one Jedi screamed in shock and horror at Eira.

Eira tilted her head, "I am what your kind made me." She laughed deeply as she trekked forward, twirling the blade in her hand. Stabbing forward, she studied the way that the Jedi fought. Tactical, predictable, traditional. Using the Lightsaber Form of their choice to spin attack and block in harmony. Trying to stop Eira. But they failed to realise. Eira was not tactical, predictable or traditional. She was an agent of chaos. Victory at all costs. And she would ensure her enemy learned how chaos fought.

When locked in saber lock between her sword and their Lightsaber, Eira used her free hand and sharply threw a punch against the jaw of the Jedi. Stunning them and allowing Eira to then launch forward to bury her blade into the chest. Forcing the Jedi to spurt up blood in a fountain of their death.

Then there was one.

"Phae, if you are done with the guards, get ready to bury this cave room. I don't want their friends to even get to bury their bodies." Eira sneered with a more humanoid smile to Phaelissia before she turned to the final Jedi and roared demonically as she raced forward. Using her speed and the increasing levels of fear from the Jedi, she beheaded the final Jedi in moments. Breathing in deeply of the death and destruction that the pair had conducted, Eira was feeling the Dark Side tingle in her fingertips.

Facing the baby nexus that had not been completed, Eira laughed, "not even their numbers could stop me..." Eira sighed disappointed as she raised both hands and with all the hatred, the death surrounding them, the fear she had inspired, Eira used the strongest Force Lightning she could muster to break and destroy the nexus that had been attempted to be created on Dromund Kaas.
