- Warmaster: Armed with a powerful panoply of war, the Epitaph II is designed to spearhead any invasion fleet, armed with an assimilator cannon able to pull the energy from a planetary shield before bombarding it with superheavy composite turbolasers and hypervelocity cannons - able to flip the barrels of said weapons on enemy ships all the same.
- Powerslave: With its onboard droid brain the Gladius can be managed by a largely droid crew, eliminating the need for a star destroyer fully crewed by living manpower.
- TIE Racks: Carrying a hangar load out mean't to accommodate for TIE series vessels which can be compactly stored and rapidly deployed, utilizing this line of starships as the ship's compliment allows for more effective 'hit and slip' tactics meaning a faster starfighter deployment and recovery.
- Crawling Along: In order to compensate for its panoply of war and heavily reinforced hull and shielding systems the Epitaph II suffers in speed and maneuverability, unable to compete with the baseline of its class on the plane of battle.
- Watch Your A*s: Like all ‘wedge’ shaped star destroyers, only an array of point defense cannons protect the Gladius’ aft at all. Leaving its ion drives fully exposed to enemy fire.
- Directional Firepower: The superheavy composite beam turbolasers and assimilation cannon are completely axial mounted meaning the ship has to full face its target to use these weapons to any effect.
DESCRIPTION
Constructed as one of the initial vital instruments to the rebellion force at the head of the New Imperial Order, the Epitaph II is the first and most advanced of the Legatus-class Battlecruisers. The flagship of Irveric Tavlar it is named in homage to the Epitaph Marr II-class Sith Imperial Star Destroyer to which Tavlar manned after his promotion to Major General within the Sith-Imperial Armed Forces. Aboard the vessel it is there from which the groundwork for conspiracy and rebellion were laid for his eventual treason against the Sith Empire.

the Epitaph II is designed to make deployment from orbit to the planetary surface as swift and unimpeded as possible with its 'assimilator' cannon sucking the power from a planetary shield and redirecting it toward its surrounding supporting vessels to allow an entry path for ground forces to subjugate a world. All the while the Epitaph II still possesses an incredible inventory of ship combatting weapons.
