Drink, Ya Nerf Herders! [The Iron Empire]

Isamu Baelor

Protector of The Iron Realm

For years, the Iron Empire had strived to unite the Unknown Region under one banner. To bring peace, and prosperity, to lands largely forgotten by the galaxy as a whole. During its endeavour, the Empire had fought the Sith, and expelled them from the region. They had united the Chiss, and restored the Ascendancy. But now, it was time to return from whence they came: Arondight.

For many, it would be the first time they lay eyes upon the Iron Imperial Capitol. To visit the many Kingdoms that formed the heart of the Empire. For others however, it would be a return to home.

To celebrate the victories of the Iron Empire, a great banquet, unlike any other, was to be held. In the boundless, beautiful gardens of Galatine; countless large, sturdy wooden tables stretched as far as the eye could see. Adorned with the most succulent of meats, and finest of Iron Imperial brews, the guests of the Crown would feast like never before.

From far across the Empire, droves of Iron Imperials flocked to the capitol, eager to break bread with their brethren. A Noble or commoner, a force user or not, they were Iron Imperials all the same. Brothers of the two-headed wolf. Together, it was time to rejoice!

Too weird to live, too rare to die!
And not just members of the Empire were in attendance, for the Empire had reached out to allies near and far, and so Solari, the Iron Knight - the last Iron Knight, if you discounted her twisted and fallen fellow shard, had come to attend the feast.

It might seem a little odd, to send a few hundred year old crystal inside a droid to feast, but much like the HRD that had been developed in parallel with the prototype S series Iron Knight bodies, she could actually taste and in her existance, she'd come to very much enjoy beer.

So Solari walked though the feast, dressed in the formal robes of a Jedi Consular and diplomat, lightstaff hanging by a peace cord from her belt, with a tankard of something dark, bitter and otherwise completely out of keeping with her image in hand, admiring both the gardens and the architecture.

The Iron Empire had never been in existance in her original life, and the name... appealed to her. This should be an interesting evening.

Drew had spent what felt like years in that blasted Office, keeping an eye on every soldier in active duty, it was the only way he felt close to the people he was charged with commanding. His trips to the Barracks and Hangars of the Imperial Army had grown few and far between with the Iron Empire's recent spike in activity. With his youth spent under his father's strict lessons and his formative years given to the Garages of the Arondight Armed Forces, Drew didn't develope relationships well. But his heart always lied with the souls who fell in service of the Two-Headed Wolf.

These thoughts haunted him as he walked through the Garden's of Galatine. General Mech soon found himself in dire need of a drink. Hunting down a seat near a pitcher of Arondight Ale and the largest goblet he could get his hands on Drew combated the grief trying to plague his mind with a fire in his belly. Half a pitcher later General Mech felt his mood brighten just in time for the long tables to start filling up.

It was not everyday - certainly not in these days of his Jedi retirement - that the former Grandmaster of the Silver Jedi would receive a personal invite to attend such a grand and lavish banquet. From the Iron Emperor himself, at that! How said invite found its way to such a remote world as Midvinter he will likely never know, however refusing such an honour was not becoming of the Warden of the West, who thought he might as well show up if only to catch up with [member="Isamu Baelor"] and eat his food. He had asked [member="Coci Heavenshield"] weather she would like to accompany him to the event, but she smirked and told him she'd had enough of grand social gatherings for one lifetime. Besides, someone has to look after their youngest cub - a responsibility Thurion was only glad to be parted from, however briefly!

He'd decided not to arrive in full regalia befitting his station on Midvinter; this was a party after all, not some political conclave where looking your best is half the battle. Thus he'd settled for a pragmatic dark leather coat with few distinguishing features, along with matching leather boots and a pair of brown pants. Only a finely-crafted dagger clinging to his belt accompanied him on this occasion, just as a precaution.

With the Oathkeeper parked within the space port Thurion hailed a speeder to take him to the festivities. It was his first visit to planet Arondight, so he entrusted the droid chauffeur to navigate the sprawling city to hurry things along. By the time he arrived the banquet was already in full swing with people arriving by the dozens, which made finding his way around a trivial matter as he just went with the flow of the crowd. As he strode through the entrance, a loud voice rang over the festivities.

"Lord Thurion Heavenshield of Midvinter," a gentleman shouted to his immediate left, startling the Jedi Master and making his ears ring. Disoriented he stumbled into a rather portly lady, making her spill her wine all over her elderly date. Rather than stay and apologise, Thurion quickly got himself lost in a nearby group of people, none of whom he'd ever met before. Regaining his composure, his shoulders slumped and his gaze sank to the rich fabrics of the carpet running the length of the entrance. "Remind me to follow your lead next time, my love..."

[member="Solari"] | [member="Drew Benneck"]

“Alright, guys…” Valae started, grinning. “This is going to be fun, really!”

Somehow, she guessed that the two gentlemen in her company might beg to differ. She had persuaded [member="Jake Daniels"] to come along as her date. Of course, he hadn’t turned down her order invitation to attend. The couple was accompanied by Colonel [member="Valkren Calderon"]; Valae had also managed to convince him to come along. Though their friendship had been strained as of late, she was hoping to mend things between them. She did hope that he didn’t mind coming along as the third wheel, but she’d made a silent vow not to make things awkward. At least Jake would have another guy to pal around with. All that aside, this would be a good chance for the Colonel to do some networking as well.

It had been quite some time since Valae had set foot in Iron Empire space, but she was glad to be back.

This would also be a good opportunity to re-connect with one of their allies; she was pleased to see that they were doing well. As they neared the venue, Valae smoothed out the front of her dress. Tonight she’d gone with a little blue number that had a pretty drape. As they joined the queue that stood at the grand entrance, she took hold of Jake’s arm and glanced over her shoulder at Valkren standing behind them. She offered an enthusiastic smile before turning forward once more.

It didn’t take long for her to realize that her Master was already present. The calming aura of [member="Thurion Heavenshield"] was already inside. Shifting a glance up at Jake, Valae blinked a couple of times. She supposed that he would like to meet her Master; this would be a good chance to introduce the two. Well, this was certainly bound to be an interesting night.

“Grandmaster Valae Kitra of the Silver Jedi and Jake Daniels.” A voice called out as the pair entered, making a nervous smile find Valae’s face.
As they stepped inside, she looked to Valkren.

“C’mon!” She called, “You know… I think [member="Jyoti Nooran"] was going to come tonight as well.”

Her eyes scanned the area; no doubt the Echani would be here soon, too.

Meanwhile,
In The Orbit,

The very fabric of reality seem to shake as a boom would be registered by nearby ships, an ominous droning sound that accompanied ships whenever they left hyperspace. With a flash of light two ships would phase into the reality within Iron Empire's space, one a large and opulent Commerce-class Space Hulk, and one sleeker much smaller matte-black Eclipse-class Stealth Corvette. The Space Hulk powered its engines down, staying passive in the edge of the planet's gravitational pull while the Stealth Corvette still moved closer, its shields and weapons powered off. It would not take long for the ships to address the Iron Empire's agents on the planet, sending out,

"The Metal Lord delegation has arrived, requesting permission to land transports."

Letting their hosts know that another major faction invited by them has arrived to celebrate with them. Assuming that the permission was indeed given to the Metal Lords, transports would start to leave from the Stealth Corvette, pushing off from the docking bay tubes hidden within its underbelly, big enough to hold starfighters, dropships, small enough shuttles. One of these transports was a large metallic winged shape, with engines attached to its back and two large stabilizator foils extending from its shoulders, adjusting to correct its flight pattern subtle, and a cloaked being hunched on the droid-starfighter's back, clinging to a magnetic saddle, without a cockpit to protect them. As the starfighter mount pushed further and further towards the planet, flames would light up around them, licking at the beast and its rider as they broke through the barrier of atmosphere and its friction, energy shields lighting up both around the drake and its rider, absorbing the heat safely.

Little did [member="Solari"] knew, she may have been one of the last Shards who practiced the way of the Iron Knights, but she was not exactly the last one who remembered or made allegiance to that particular order.

Perhaps some people gathered in the hall would hear the engines nearing their place of celebration high above, maybe those looking out the window would see a large dark winged shape flying across the sky in between the clouds, or turning against the backdrop of moon shining behind it high in the sky, moonlight illuminating it in pale glow and mixing with the light of its thrusters as the droid starfighter circled the capitol of Iron Empire, no weapons on the craft, as it sought the designated landing pad or bay and lowering down to land upon it, touching down with a small thud as its heavy metal body hit the ground and it slowed down in a slight trot.

Few minutes later heavy metal footsteps would be heard approaching the entrance to the capitol hall where the Iron Empire and their friends celebrated, moving in steady almost calculated march, the sound of armored feet against the floor clear to those near the entrance. The approach of the being would grow louder until finally the announcer by the door would below out,

"Lord Protector Above Denon, The Iron Knight!"

And the door would swing open as the tall slender being shifted itself into the room. HK's body was humanoid in shape, but clearly not modeled after humans, his limbs were longer, legs digitigrade and just like his hands, they were larger with six digits upon them, assembled in a symmetrical design. Although the skeletal appearance of his body was hidden underneath a layer of darkened organic armor, that looked like charred gooey flesh covered with a layer of thick armored plates arranged over key portions of his body, it still looked somewhat stretched out, almost sickly and fragile. The droid clutched in his hands, covered in silver-gray Phrik gauntlets, what looked like a gold-plated rifle, with a computerized scope mounted on its railing, half of his body was hidden underneath a heavy black cloak that cascaded off of his shoulders and wrapped around him, measured just so to hover barely above the ground, what was revealed of his waist showed a lightsaber hilt and a holstered ceremonial old looking pistol hanging by his hip.

The droid looked right and left, scanning over the room as plates arranged over his head, forming a chitinous looking featureless black helmet, moved and pulled back, the black flesh of his armor peeling off as well. Those who knew of such things could tell the armor that covered HK was one shaped by the Vong, something that was rarely, if ever, seen on a droid, considering the fact that Vong thought all machines to be an abomination. As his head was uncovered it revealed a faceplate forged out of Phrik, smooth and pale like polished bone with fluid curves, made to resemble a weird cross between the traditional HK head design and Kaleesh war mask. Looking around the droid's cold glowing crimson eyes would wash their light over the Silver Jedi Order representatives, Thurion and Valae, the people of the Iron Empire, and any others within the chamber.

Moving down further into the room his armored metal feet would clang slightly upon the floor, with his sound dampeners deactivated, as the machine finally spoke up to address anyone who was nearby or looking in his direction,

"Hey, guys, how are things going?"

Too weird to live, too rare to die!
Solari's head snaps around at the announcement, I mean, certainly the Iron Empire might well have Iron Knights, but it's still enough to focus the old photoceptors. What makes it more remarkable is, as she spots that the identified individual is a droid, how lifelike her features become - Shards are odd creatures by galactic standards and their interface with their host droid chassis is equally odd, but it's reasonably common for them to get more fluid, more lifelike the more engaged they are in a task - the more they 'forget' the body exists at all.

She pauses for a long moment, watching [member="HK-36"]'s arrival with a look of astonishment, beer halfway to her lips, then hurries through the crowded garden to reach the bottom of the stairs. She had limited access to detailed scans in this body, but she was reasonably certain from differential analysis that this was not a shard, unless someone had dug up an ancient droid model, put a shard from her original era into it, then plated in one of the galaxies most valuable metals.

Well, she did literally have a shiny metal ass of ultrachrome, so...

"I am quite well, Lord Protector." She replied to the question, emerging from the crowd and smiling, while brushing back her oddly natural hair - frankly, that was the one design feature she really hadn't understood until she had migrated from a standard model body to the custom ones. Wigs would have been a pain, and people looked really oddly at things that were close, but not quite droids or not quite human, and the lack of hair seemed to really bug humans. Completely irrational, it must be species psychology. "Forgive me for being completely crass, but I am going to entirely abandon all manners. I am Solari, Knight of Iron. Are you... a Knight of Iron?"

Arriving at the celebration on the arms of Daemon, Crown Prince of Caliburn, a faked smile adorned Aster's face and a floor length peach dress with a lace bodice hung from her small frame. Not particularly fond of the man, she had chosen to accompany him out of all her suitors for political reasons. Concerned about the bad blood between the Kingdom of Caliburn and her uncle, she had taken it upon herself to assist in easing the tension through befriending the next in line to the Kingdom's throne.

A loud voice announced the pair's arrival as they made their entrance into the gardens.

"Iron Imperial Crown Princess, Aster Rose Baelor and Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Caliburn, Daemon."

Eyes of the curious turned on the pair and the buzzing of whispers could be heard causing Aster's heart to race. She was not fond of the attention her title attracted.

Rumours will have probably spread by the night's end, she thought a little annoyed. Gossip was unavoidable and rumours were sure to spread from the mouths of those with nothing better to do.

"Let the rumors spread, there's nothing we can do to stop them," Daemon whispered almost as if he had read Aster's mind. If this was his attempt at comforting the teenager, he was not very good at it.

"That's true," Aster replied after a short pause as she led him towards a crowd of people hoping that they might disappear in it.

Busy would have been the best way to describe Jake Daniel's recent weeks. Though he was the significant other of Valae Kitra, she was also his tutor when it came to the aspects of the light side. She helped him work on finding and maintaining balance. Balance, as it turns out, was not so easy for reformed Jedi to adhere too when things got a bit chaotic. Jake had been doing more to make himself more visible within the Silver Jedi on Kashyyyk. As one of the more skilled sabersman, though by far not nearly the best, Jake did what he could to teach what Padawans were around. Jake also made an attempt to get to know the Wookie's of the planet. He even formed a comradery with one wookie that he called Ole' Grey Hair.

Jake also had some off world work he had to tend too. There was a job he had that no one knew about. Though not illegal, Jake didn't want people to know what he was doing. If they, or even Valae, found out he had a job they'd probably tail him and find his other little secret. The last thing taking up his time was a special project on Midvinter. Now that was a tough thing to keep secret. Jake knew her Master called it home. Valae had expressed such in the past. The problem? Jake hadn't met her Master and he was building just some distance from the general area her Master resided. The Knight walked a fine line of secrecy. So far it was working. Hopefully his gift for Valae wouldn't be spoiled before it was ready.

Valae had asked Jake to escort her to an event in the real of a group called the Iron Empire. Of course Jake wouldn't have said no. He'd be at her side for anything. The issue? Jake didn't know anyone of the Iron Empire and even the name Iron Empire caused the reformed Knights guard to rise. Why wasn't Jake's mind working overdrive on safety precautions? Because of who was with he and Valae.

Colonel Valkren Calderon. Jake wasn't a stupid man. He did his homework. He may not have known the Colonel as well as others but he knew the type of man he was. He was a natural born leader. What did that mean? Colonel Calderon wouldn't just send grunts into battle. Colonel Calderon would lead those grunts into battle himself. He had an awe inspiring military record and held himself, and his troops, to a conduct befitting any and all that served. If there was any trouble, Jake knew The Colonel would have his and Valae's back just as Jake would have his.

With Valae's arm wrapped around his own, Jake and Valae waited to enter. The reformed Knight took the moment to get a sense of the aura of those already there, or better, a feel for the overall atmosphere. Nothing as of it cause an alarm to be raised within the semi-paranoid psyche of the aged Knight.

“Grandmaster Valae Kitra of the Silver Jedi and Jake Daniels.” The introduction snapped Jake to attention.

Valae ordered urged Valkren to enter with them. As she took a moment to look for Jyoti Nooran, Jake took the time to compliment his date.

"Just like the Ball on Kashyyyk, you'll be the envy of all the ladies here with your radiance, Mon Cheri'." Jake whispered.

"Now, I know I promised to be on my best behavior but if Valkren finds himself in an uncomfortable situation can I cause a scene and get him out of it? Or no scene causing?" He added quickly with a beaming grin.

Walking the terraces, courtyards, and halls was a lone naval officer, one unfamiliar with such gatherings despite their open nature. The Ensign was clothed in his formal military dress, designed for these occasions, that almost betrayed his awkward stance. Drifting from table to table the officer kept a close eye on those partaking in the affair, creating a mental checklist of who he might have to converse with in the future if he was to advance himself. The man was careful to avoid the groups of nobles, keen to save any interaction with them for the future, and instead found himself with those similar to himself, military officers.

Here he could relax, he was among familiar faces or at least familiar personalities. Thane need not worry about stepping on the toes of those of comparable rank. Edward was never much of a drinker, choosing to merely partake in small amounts of wine as he resided towards the edges of the group, remaining perceptive of the other gatherings and the individuals that wander between them.

If that announcer said a thing about who she was, Caelag was going to...

"High Colonel Caelag Vass of the Iron Empire."

Eyes locked on her.

Caelag could feel them leveled against her, and she knew for some it would be beyond incredible to see her not only outside of military uniform (a certain private was assigned latrine cleaning duties for quite a while after a recent incident) but dressed in what could be considered a dress. Long, flowing, and dark, the actual outfit was more akin to a robe, complete with the hooded cape, but was ornate enough to be worn to such an event. Add in her eye covering, and the closed off way she stood almost immediately as her name was bellowed out, she briefly looked more an 'exotic beauty' than hardened military officer.

Could you blame her, she stuck out in more than a few ways. Still, she regained her composure quickly, straightening out and making her way across the floor. She sensed people she wished to speak with, namely [member="Aster Rose Baelor"], the only girl she felt comfortable calling a friend, and the figure of [member="HK-36"], who she also knew well enough, though he seemed busy. So she would leave him to his business, for now, and speak with the metal lord later when the, odd droid, wasn't busy. So, for now she would start things off on a better foot, and made a direct line for the princess.

IF only she could wink at the man, who would likely notice her first at the angle she approached. Hopefully he wouldn't ruin her surprise...

Which, naturally, was Caelag lifting her hand and placing it on Aster's shoulder, with an abnromally bright smile on her face. "Oh my dearest friend, if you needed an escort you know where I live!"

The Iron Lord Protector (Neutral Good)
[member="Solari"], [member="Caelag Vass"], [member="Jake Daniels"],

HK was just greeting some of the officials and nobles who would have approached him, or were just most accessible, by the bottom of the stairs he went down on, shaking some hands, bumping some fists, probably even handing out some high fives in an attempt to appear casual and blend in when Solari approached him, pushing one of the more opulent men in her path relatively easily, forcing the probably trader or politician away from HK,

"I am glad that you are well, Solari, Knight of Iron,"

HK begun with a greeting towards Solari as he did finger-pistol gesture towards one of the nearby Iron Empire nobles or delegates, causing a rather perplexed look on the man's face before the machine turned to look upon the Shard,

"And yes, I realize what you are, I noticed."

HK equipped, motioning towards her torso, or body in general, supposedly where the crystal, her real form, was kept,

"I am and I am not at the same time. If you are asking whether I am part of your order, then yes I am, I predate it. I used to be the Knight of Iron, the first Knight of Iron, before Shards were discovered, the teachings and practices you follow were most likely detailed by machines I served the Jedi with, and by such, I follow as well. But if you ask whether I am a being like you,"

The droid begun to explain before shaking his head, offering his hand to Solari so that she could take it and walk with the Iron Knight deeper into the hall,

"I am not. I am purely a droid, and I do not wield the Force; however I serve it, wield a lightsaber, and know the philosophies of the Jedi and the Iron Knights."

HK continued as through the crowds the droid spotted [member="Aster Rose Baelor"], remembering the princess from the battle for Csilla during which HK came to aid of the Iron Empire, or was forced into it by Firemane more likely, and the battle against the Contigency when droids allied with organic kind fought off the evil Shard invaders, probably one of the reasons why Solari considers herself to be one of the last of her kind.

"If you think of yourself as a Jedi, I suppose that would make the Knights of Iron I represent the Je'daii order in this analogy."

The droid added before motioning for Aster to come and approach him. All this time he was still holding that electrum plated rifle by the way.

Valkren had taken his merry time strolling behind the Grandmaster and Jake, certainly feeling on the misplaced-side being the third wheel of this trio. However, Valkren was somewhat happy to be away from the combat deployments for a moment.

He was not happy though being in his dress blues once again. The young officer wasn't one for showing off medals and commendations, just as the Antarian Ranger's dress uniform does. He'd take his armor over the suit any day. Eventually, the trio approached the entrance to the festivities, also obvious to the colonel was the man chivalrously announcing every member of this gathering as they entered. The Grandmaster and Daniels were both announced before him as they entered together, Jake escorting Valae. Before Valkren entered behind the pair, a rather stubby figure of a man made his way out, prompting Valkren to have some fun in attempt to raise his spirits before the festivities.

He patted the short man, causing him to turn around and look to Valkren.

"Hey there, pal. Wanna' make a girl's night and be my escort to this shindig, no?"

The man gave Valk' a horrified look, before scoffing and walking off even faster than before. Valkren waved the stubby figure off and turned back to the entrance, where he winced in hearing his name and rank said aloud next to him. He'd offer the man a confused nod before making his way deeper into the festivities.

Eventually, he'd catch up with the couple.

"Fun crowd..So, I'm going to head over in that direction and get some drinks. Would the two of you like anything before I wander off? I'm sure Jyoti will be here by the time I get back with the refreshments." Colonel Calderon stated this, kicking himself in the imaginary ass after the statement.

You sound like a Karkin' babysitter. Loosen up, you're off duty.

Surprised by [member="Caelag Vass"]' sudden touch, Aster almost let out a small scream and her fake smile turned into a genuine one when she recognized the owner of the voice that had addressed her. She was pleased to see her friend again.

"Hello," she greeted the miraluka with a small chuckle. "Oh, and that dress looks lovely on you," she added after taking a look at Caelag's attire.

"Care to introduce your friend to me?" Daemon inquired. The sound of his voice had caused Aster's expression to stiffen a little.

"Excuse me," Aster said and gestured towards her friend. "This is High Colonel Caelag Vass of the Iron Imperial Army - an excellent soldier and my friend."

Turning to Caelag, she gestured to Daemon. "And this is Crown Prince Daemon of Caliburn and my escort for today's festivities."

"A pleasure to make your acquaintance High Colonel," the Caliburn Prince said and nodded at the miraluka.

As the prince greeted Caelag, Aster noticed [member="HK-36"] who seemed to be directing a few words at her.

"It is nice to see you again, Knight of Iron," she nodded the droid with a slightly uncomfortable expression on her face and waited for Daemon and Caelag to finished.

What's with the gun? she wondered as she approached the droid, her hand wrapped around Daemon's arm.

Having fought on the same side as the droid and even saved by him, she trusted that he meant no harm.

As more and more high-profile people streamed into the party Thurion began to feel lost in the swelling sea of socializers, drifting around aimlessly feeling more and more unsure why he'd been summoned to begin with. There was a time when his name carried weight across many systems, but those days he figured were long gone; Midvinter was his one and only home, and where to his only duty lay in these troubled times. Doubtless the vast majority of these people have ever heard the name before, much less able to place it on a galactic map. Insignificant in the grand scheme of things, which suited him just fine.

He was hanging around one of the back pillars, casually sipping on a glass of blue milk he'd ordered at the bar, much to the bartender's disbelief, when he heard [member="Valae Kitra"]'s entrance being announced. Finally, someone he knew in this crowd of strange faces. Downing the remainder of his drink and finding a waiter to tend to the empty glass, Thurion embarked on the cumbersome chore of making his way through the bulk of the festivities, heading towards the entrance to hopefully meet up with his old apprentice. Now that he knew she was here he could sense her presence, growing stronger as they slowly closed in on one another.

"Pardon me, 'scuse me," he weaved through the sea of people too caught up in socializing to notice him anyway. He was eventually waylaid by a lady wearing way too much make-up, her fingers digging into his sleeve. "Hey there, stud! Where do ya think yer goin'?" came her slurred words oozing from her lips. She was clearly more than a little inebriated, and so Thurion kindly declined her 'request'. When she wouldn't let go of him, a wave of his hand had the woman suddenly lose interest and she staggered off in search of some other poor guy.

Once she'd gone away he looked down his sleeve only to find she'd smeared her purple nail polish all over his forearm, though this proved easy enough to remove by hand. Only now he had a purple thumb. So he did what anyone would do were they in his stead - smeared it onto a nearby piece of wall, leaving a big purple thumb print for the world to see!

Caelag smiled back at [member="Aster Rose Baelor"], even giggling at her compliments. "Dresses, really aren't my thing though. Had one of my privates a little more control I would have a proper uniform... though I had figured this better than my other outfit." Again, that being the outfit of a school teacher. Though her pleasant words were interrupted somewhat by the escort, now known as a prince. Caelag offered a small half bow to the man, more out of formality than respect of course, but polite. "And in kind, Prince."

As she was drawn over to [member="HK-36"], the Colonel took the opportunity to join her. No doubt the machine would be having difficulty recognizing her, or not if he was actually paying any attention, without her uniform. Then again, perhaps the droid had been too attentive during her care after tending to the Contingency, and she had yet to give the droid a force-empowered slap for such. Irregardless, she found the droid intriguing, and the polite welcome of 'sir droid' as she had called him then came with a nod of her head. However, her head was turned elsewhere, 'staring' directly at @Solari. Not the droid body, but at her. The shard part of her. Though, of course, it looked like she was staring at her body, considering it was her whole head, not her eyes.

Placing her hand on Aster's shoulder to excuse herself a moment, she slipped around to the Shard's side, and whispered quietly to her. "If I am being rude, forgive me, but what are you? I can.. 'see' you. And you don't look like a droid, despite whatever is around you looking like that."

Kiran wasn't usually in the social circle as much as other people. While his time with the Iron Empire had indeed warped his heart and mind into something completely different and he wasn't troubled with the things of the past. Well, not as much as he used to be in time. The young man was recently absent for the Empire for a time, as he went on his own journey to figure certain things out and while it was a nuisance to him to be gone and away from the Empire lands. The young man knew that it would just as good when he returned from that journey and returned to a place that he loved. Donned in a tuxedo, something he hadn't worn in quite some time as he didn't often attend events such as these.

Upon his return there spread word of a banquet to be held in the honor of current and past deeds of the Iron Empire. While Kiran was no part to any of those, at least no recently. He opted to join in just to see if there were any friendly faces that he might recognize. Heavenshield being one of them, who had began training him for a time. It was familiar and nice to be back among this world again, and there was that feeling of home that was returning to him. As he entered the banquet hall and much more so kept to himself for the time being. Perhaps he would obtain a beverage of sorts to at least break the ice so he could at least somewhat enjoy these festivities.

At the sound of Jake’s compliment, Valae touched her palm to the side of her face, where there was already a faint blush forming. She shook her head playfully, “You sure do know how to flatter me.”

“Best behavior.” She echoed Jake, “Valkren can handle himself, I’m sure. But… I guess if things take a turn for awkward, you’re free to go bail him out.” Valae said with a chuckle.

As Valkren joined them, Valae let her eyes roam the crowd. There were a number of rowdy folks, but everyone seemed to be having a very good time. She spotted some that walked past with rosy cheeks and mugs of ale in both hands. When Valkren asked if they wanted anything drinks, Valae shook her head. “No thanks, I’m good.”

Turning back to Jake, she blinked. “I’ll be right back!” She chirped.

Moving off through the crowd, she honed in on Thurion’s presence. She spotted him over by a wall, and her brows lofted slightly. Quickly making her way over, she would greet her Master with a big hug. “I was hoping you’d be here tonight.” She smiled, “But what are you doing over here by yourself?” She asked, grinning. Nearby, there was a rather loud woman on the arm of a man, but still making fluttery eyes at Thurion.

After greetings had been exchanged, she looked up at her Master. There was a small pang of nerves.

“So,” She started, taking Thurion’s arm. “There’s someone I want you to meet tonight…”

A smile grew on her face as she gazed through the crowd at Jake, and she pointed at him. It would be apparent from her expression that this man was quite special to her.

Dress

Not too far behind the trio of Valae, Jake, and Valkren was Jyoti. Ahead, she could feel Valkren's glumness being in the awkward company of the couple. If she had known he was going to arrive that way, then she would have offered to be his date for the night, but he still seemed uncomfortable by her presence.

She paused at the entrance of the great gardens for a formal introduction.

"Master Nooran of the Silver Order."

After smiling and nodding to the announcer, she was on her way again, gliding over the well manicured lawns of the gardens with graceful steps. With the hem of her dress reaching over her heels, the Echani really did look like she was just hovering along.

The whole space was packed with all sorts of characters from within the Iron Empire and beyond, the banquet meant to be an inclusive event to celebrate the IE's collective efforts in bringing stability and prosperity to their slice of space.

Even with all the crowds present, she could still make out some familiar faces, like Valae. Off in the corner of her vision, she had spotted Valkren splitting off to do his thing.

She gave Valae a gentle mental ping while waving her from a distance, then set her sights on catching up to Valkren. That seemed like a good start for the night.

Mirra Voss

Too weird to live, too rare to die!
Solari listens to [member="HK-36"]'s explaination with an expression of polite and growing interest, she took the offered hand as if it were entirely natural for a quicksilver skinned droid in Jedi robes to be walking next to an armoured droid with a very fancy rifle.

"I see, that is fascinating. We are... well, not a young species. But comparative to the existance of the Jedi Order we have indeed not been aware of the Force for very long. I would be interested in talking to you further, when we are not at a party - no matter how informal. I am, somewhat... time lost, I suppose. I spent the last seven hundred to eight hundred years in stasis in a Sith tomb, it is... complex."

She gave many of the people polite, informal nods - she knew very few of them, and was somewhat preoccupied by meeting what might be described as a precursor to her Order.

"You must be fortunate - or skilled - to have survived so many years, you don't strike me as someone who shirks from activity, Master Knight."

There was no irony in her voice as she bestowed the formality upon the droid, nor any falsehood - Solari had long ago decided that use of the Force - like self-awareness - was not a topic she was prepared to make prejudgement upon.

As [member="Caelag Vass"] approached, she gently brought HK-36 to a halt, turning the pair to face the woman approaching them.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, ma'am. I am known as Solari, a Knight of Iron. I am known to galactic society as a Shard, natives of Orax, although in our own language we prosaically refer to ourselves as 'the People' and well... 'the world' - it doesn't translate from the electroimpulse very well, I'm afraid. I am a self aware silicon based lifeform, this... body is a droid, I use as a..." Solari trails off, looking for words. "... it is complicated, more than a prosthesis, less than the sum of my being. You can see 'me' - my crystal-silicate form."
