"Look, there it is," Valery said as the transparent dome of Hologram Fun World appeared up ahead. Perhaps it was a bit silly for them all to travel into the Outer Rim for an amusement park. But with a war about to throw the Galaxy back into chaos, she figured they all needed some time away to laugh and focus on themselves. What better way than a double date at the well-known park? The kids were undoubtedly going to be jealous that they couldn't come along this time, but if today proved fun enough, she was sure they'd come back with the little ones too.

Turning in her chair, she watched Kahlil Noble Kahlil Noble with a smile, while he piloted the group. Her gaze then shifted to Amani Serys Amani Serys and Alicio Organa Alicio Organa and she let out a happy sigh. This wasn't the first time all four of them had gotten together, but this was the first time they'd go on a double date.

"Which attraction do you guys want to start with?" Valery asked before shooting Alicio a smirk, "We should definitely go to the Volcano slide. I'm sure it's not actual lava, but it's the next best thing." It was a little inside joke she wasn't going to explain. Because having to tell Amani that her husband nearly drowned was probably not a good start of the day.

"The Hall of reflections and Nightmare Machine are a must too~"

What do people even do on double dates?

That question had been a constant companion to him ever since Val had suggested the idea. Before Alicio and Amani were together, most of his dating knowledge came from, embarrassingly, romance novels and cheesy holo-dramas. They weren't usually very heavy on group dating, at least not the material he'd enjoyed. Ever since being with Amani, he'd gotten better at single dates, but doubles were a whole other ballgame.

He supposed it was just four people, who happened to be two sets of couples, going out and having fun. Alicio, though he was loathe to admit it, needed to have a little fun right now. And as strange as it was for four adults to be going to an amusement attraction without a child in sight... it did look like a lot of fun.

So he put on his most relaxed face as he sat behind Kahlil and Valery, bumping shoulders with the love of his life. He dressed down from his usual for the occasion, instead wearing a chic suitcoat and black silk shirt. Though he couldn't keep his cool for long, as he saw Hologram Fun World for the first time. It was enormous. Dazzling. His eyes widened in surprise, then in wonder.

"We should definitely go to the Volcano slide. I'm sure it's not actual lava, but it's the next best thing."

Alicio snickered to himself, shaking his head. "Can't wait. I go first, you jump in after me, yeah?" He turned to Amani, bobbing his shoulders once. Inside joke. He didn't know how to feel about a room called the 'Nightmare Machine'... But if the others wanted to do it, he wouldn't be the odd man out.

"I wanted to check out the Anywhere Room, take some notes for the Holographic Gardens in Sanctuary City. But they all look exciting."

A trip to Hologram Fun World was maybe the last Amani would have expected to make in the current day and age, especially without the kids. There was a lot going on back home. Not all of it good. But she came around to accept the idea— It wouldn't be the end of the world for the Nobles and the Organas to treat themselves for just one day, would it? Besides, it had been a while since they'd really gone out together as is.

"We should definitely go to the Volcano slide. I'm sure it's not actual lava, but it's the next best thing."
"Can't wait. I go first, you jump in after me, yeah?"

Amani looked between Val and Alicio suspiciously, clearly not picking up on their apparent inside joke. She scanned over the HFW pamphlet once more, reading through the suggestions they both offered, "A room where your brain is scanned to discover your worst nightmares? That's a must?" She scoffed incredulously, "Well, I was thinking the Enchanted Lagoon sounded nice. You don't see many holograms that you can also feel and smell," Such was part of the amusement parks charm. They pulled out all the stop when it came to entertainment. Dazzling lights and attractions already blinded Amani as they approached the station, in stark contrast to the blackness of space around them.

Also in stark contrast was Amani to her husband. While he had come in his usual dark (albeit now dressed-down) style, she was rocking a vivid pink romper that made her look like a watermelon, "We'll have time for plenty of things. I'm down to start with the Volcano thingy."

Kahlil_Div2.png

"We're checking out everything. Except for the nightmare room, of course. We all know the sort of things are our worst nightmares. We don't have to see those." Valery and Kahlil had already lived through one variation when Vera had been taken. He had no desire to experience that again. Everything else? He was all smiles, looking over the top of Valery's head as he rested his chin there to read. Leaned on her, just a little.

Vacation was always a good idea in his mind.

It wasn't often he wasn't in his Jedi robes as of late, but now he certainly was. He was in the most normal looking vacation threads he could find. Well, Epicanthix style at least. He very much at least matched his wife.

"Volcano slide first, though. that looks like a lot of fun."

Valery snickered at Alicio's comment about the slide, and looked over to catch Amani's suspicious glare — it made the inside joke even better to her. "I think I'm going down the slide with Kahlil at the same time," Valery said, as she felt his chin settle on her head and his body lean into her. She wrapped his arms around her waist, and held his hands in front of her stomach while they were on auto-pilot to land at the station.

Tractor beams guided them in, and they were greeted by bright lights, holograms, and a huge crowd of people running off to their first attractions as well.

"I didn't think the Nightmare Machine would actually show our greatest fears? I thought it was just a haunted house showing creepy spiders, ghosts and whatnot." If that wasn't the case, she wouldn't even come close. She had gone through her greatest fears when Kahlil was taken from her, and then again when Vera had been abducted. There was no doubt in her mind what she'd see inside, and it was far too uncomfortable.

"But right! Slide first~" she stepped away from her husband, and took his hand so they could start walking towards the Volcano Slide, a huge attraction that had people slide into and around a massive, man-made volcano. Holograms were used to show a realistic eruption, lava flow and all kinds of brutal effects to make it a spectacle.

Most importantly, to Valery at least, it went fast.

"Just imagine how fast we'll go if we slide down together, huh?" she grinned with that dangerous sparkle in her eye, and squeezed her husband's hand.

"You two ready as well? We'll head up and see who makes it down first."

Alicio's grin became sharper as Amani gave him and Val a dubious look. It would be a bit of a journey to explain it to her. How they'd gotten that inside joke perhaps wasn't as dangerous as one might fear without context... but it wasn't much better. "I'd be happy to jump into the fire with Amani, then," he returned, gently lacing his fingers with hers alongside a genuine, if cheesy smile.

Continued talk of the Nightmare Machine turned his good mood sour, if only for a moment. He nodded to Kahlil in agreement, his eyes settling on Amani, if only for a moment. It wouldn't take a genius to guess what the Count figured his worst fear was. He would be fine to skip the ride, especially since there were so many to parse already.

Stepping out of the ship, it was comical how different the Organas had dressed from each other. They shared a hand between them, one looking like a mourner at a funeral, the other looking like a tasty fruit. Alicio trailed a step behind Amani, glancing around with a touch of whimsy, a reserved sort of happiness in the twinkle of his eye.

He still didn't enjoy crowds. But the company was more than worth it.

After a few minutes, they made it to their first destination; a massive volcano. Alicio's eyebrows shot up in surprise. It looked, felt, real. The heat was present, but not unbearable. The flowing lava glowed like molten gold, and brimstone fell from the sky. It all looked so real.

"You two ready as well? We'll head up and see who makes it down first."

"Are you saying Amani and I are going to team up for a date?" He looked to his wife, feigning shock. Them being on the same team was unprecedented. He bumped her shoulder with his. "Is that... even allowed?"

"I didn't think the Nightmare Machine would actually show our greatest fears? I thought it was just a haunted house showing creepy spiders, ghosts and whatnot."

Amani shrugged, "That's what it says. Dunno how much of it is just embellishment. Would a theme park actually have that level of technology?" It seemed far-fetched (and certainly controversial), but clearly HFW wasn't behind on cutting-edge technology for the sake of a theme park. Perhaps they'd have to check with an employee or something. In any case, they still had loads of other options to explore.

The Volcano slide left little to the imagination. It was, indeed, a slide in a big volcano. One that almost felt as real as it looked. Despite knowing it was fake, just taking it all in made Amani hesitate for a brief moment, "Wow. That's… impressive." Intense, but impressive. Valery suggested they make it into a duo race of sorts, and the Organas looked at each other simultaneously.

"Are you saying Amani and I are going to team up for a date? Is that... even allowed?"

"First time for everything, I guess," Amani chuckled, "At least black and pink is a stylish team color." She took Alicio's hand, and joined the Nobles in their ascent. Ironically as they got closer, the attraction became less intimidating. The stimuli were there, but clearly not on the level of a real volcano. This close to the flowing lava, and they'd be scorched already. Instead Amani could just take in the dedication and craftsmanship that went into constructing a holographic ride this complex. Once they reached the top, they could gaze down into the bubbling and broiling magma chamber.

"Ready?" Amani challenged the Nobles.

Kahlil_Div2.png

Kahlil grimaced a little at the heat. It was enough to sell the effect, at least. Not that he particularly enjoyed the memories of the lava world Mustafaar from the couple of times he'd been there. They were supposed to go down a slide in this? Water slide? The irony wasn't lost on him, but he did smile a little as he saw just how excited Valery was. Smile, and creased his brow a little in nervousness. He cleared his throat as he glanced to the other pair.

They were going to go really fast.

"As we'll ever be, I suppose. See you two at the bottom."

<It's not a water slide, babe,>

She had caught him getting stuck in his own head with nervous thoughts, and shot him quite the teasing smirk for it. But she also knew about his past, and reached for his hand to squeeze it. While the slide was able to go very fast, it wasn't dangerous or too scary. Kids loved going down it as well, so they could do it too!

They'd just... go a lot faster.

"Come on, time to go!" Valery grabbed his hand, interlaced fingers, and pulled him up towards the top of the slide. She expected Amani and Alicio to do the same, and waited for them to be ready. To accomodate a huge crowd, it wasn't just a single slide going down, but several. Some faster than others, and to make that clear, they were divided into 5 different levels of speed and severity. Naturally, Valery went for lvl 5.

After waiting for Kahlil to sit down first, she lowered herself between his legs and leaned back into him. "Hold on tight, love," she said with a grin. "First one to make it down gets to decide the next ride!" She called out to Amani and Alicio, before blasting off down the slide.

And boy, it was fast.

Even Valery's eyes widened as she felt it in her stomach. But there was no such thing as going too fast for the Jedi Master. She laughed, held onto her partner, and tried her best to squeeze out even more speed.

Right as they were approaching a tight bend around the volcano.

"At least black and pink is a stylish team color."

"Got that right," the Count agreed, happily taking Amani's hand. If the Organas didn't beat the Nobles at anything else today, they would beat the Jedi Masters in fashion.

After ascending the 'mountain', Alicio studied the slide down, watching not without a little trepidation as Kahlil straddled Val for maximum speed. The Alderaanian nobleman wasn't used to that level of PDA quite yet. Pushing past a mild discomfort, Alicio sat down beside them, looking to Amani with a bit of pink on his cheekbones. "Um... All aboard?"

Assuming she did so, he wrapped his arms around her waist, and whispered low, so close that his lips brushed her ear. "So... no way we're going to win this without cheating, right?"

Before he could expound on that thought, Valery started the race. With a smirk, Alicio pushed off.

Their one advantage, perhaps was that Alicio and Amani were much lither than the muscular Kahlil and Valery. Maybe that would put them ahead? Until the Nobles started using those muscles. A sharp turn was coming up, and the Count held onto his Countess tight, to keep them both from flying over the edge. He found an exhilarated smile. It was a lot of fun.

Unsurprisingly, Valery was quick to turn the slide into a competition, which she doubled down on by picking the fastest of the ride paths. Amani didn't really care about winning or losing, but she would entertain the face-off all the same.

"Um... All aboard?"

If Alicio was embarrassed by the notion of positioning themselves in such a way, he chose perhaps the cheesiest way to address it. Amani snorted loudly, and settled in in front of her husband, "Aye aye, Captain." She held onto his arms tightly as they wrapped around her, already feeling a bit of a knot in her stomach as she looked down. Amani smirked when Alicio whispered in her ear, then shook her head, "Doubtful. Let's just enjoy the—"

Valery initiated the race before she could finish the thought. Alicio pushed them off, and they entered a deep descent that turned the knot in Amani's stomach into a pit. She gasped, tightening her grip on Alicio's arms as they took a sharp turn. There was no way they'd actually be at risk of flying off the slide, but it sure felt that way. Even still, Amani could held but laugh in exhilaration when they hit the next stretch.

<Not a- what?>

But.. That's what a slide like this was, right? Kahlil tilted his head in complete confusion. This was, in actuality, the first time he'd ever been to a park like this. He never thought much on actually going, though Vera and Aris were both at an age where they could start taking them to these kinds of places. It was part of why he'd agreed to come here. So he could know what it was like and at least be able to help guide their kids through the park.

What kind of slide didn't have water, though? Those were the types he read up on.

Kahlil let out a sigh regardless. So that's the kind of slide. And speed V, no less. He chuckled as he sat down with Valery, wrapped his arms around her waist. He knew where this was going. To his credit, his expression didn't change from the calm smile as they rocketed their way towards the base. He was, however, very much tense. He wasn't expecting to go this damn fast down the slide. It was supposed to be a normal slide, right?

So he sat with the same calm smile he always did, trying not to panic that they might end up flying off the edge at a wrong turn. Naturally, Valery was just edging them on to go faster. Of course she was, she made it a competition. There was little that'd stop her from winning, he imagined.

Hopefully they wouldn't die in the process.

"I know you love me, but you don't have to squeeze so hard!" Valery called out in laughter. She was well aware that he wasn't quite as comfortable going down the slide this fast. His calm, little smiles would never fool her. So after all his relentless teasing and all the lost battles that backfired on her when she tried to mess with him, this finally felt like an opportunity for her to come out on top. It was almost more important to her than making it down quicker than the Organa's.

No, it was more important, though she wasn't gifting the Organas a win either.

Closer to the edge than any sane person would enjoy, Valery took them down tight bends, before coming down to the center of the slide to go fast down the more straight parts. All around them, the show was playing out magnificently, with holographic lava, smoke and other effects to create an immersive experience. But Valery was oblivious to it all — her need was just about speed.

"Come on babe, keep yourself flat for the last stretch!" She leaned back, forcing him down on his back while she laid partially on top of him. She never had problems with public displays of affection, so the position hardly bothered her. Nobody could see them anyway. Speaking of which — in this position, they couldn't see what was ahead of them anymore either.

She knew that'd get a kick out of him.

What it did accomplish was minimal air resistance, allowing them to go much faster with their combined weights being pulled along by gravity.

"There's the finish line, say cheese!" she grinned, and smiled brightly as a bright flash took a picture of the Nobles reaching the finish line.

Amani's willingness to go along with the bit helped alleviate Alicio's embarrassment, if only a little. He chuckled at the ridiculousness of it all, reminding himself that he could stand to loosen up a little.

All his self-conscious thoughts were quick to escape him, however, as they started down the volcano slide, replaced by terrified sort of joy. Holding his wife close to him, Alicio nearly forgot about any notions of a race, instead enjoying the moment, and trying to keep them from wiping out at high speeds.

They were neck and neck with the Nobles, up until Valery laid down to get the last burst of speed. What he and Amani were doing now was a bit much for him already. If that was what it took to win, Val and Kahlil could have their victory. Well, unless the Chief Healer had anything to say about it.

Nonetheless, they neared the end of the slide, and barely dipping into the Future to perfect his timing, Alicio gave Amani a sweet peck on the cheek just as the camera flashed.

- Amani Serys Amani Serys - Kahlil Noble Kahlil Noble - Valery Noble Valery Noble -

Alicio and Amani put up a valiant fight, but when Val fully committed to maximizing her aerodynamics, it was over. The Organas weren't that committed to a victory. Amani just laughed watching them speed up ahead, before gasping as the final stretch almost tried to pull them down through g-force alone. While Alicio had the foresight to plant a kiss on her cheek as they reached the finish, Amani was too distracted. Her expression was more a surprised grimace. A result which would no doubt make for a humorous photo op.

They finally slowed to a stop, the heat of the ride dissipating behind them. Amani stumbled off as quick as she could, "Whew. That was… quite the start to our day." She looked at the Nobles and bowed, "Congratulations on your victory." At the end of the ride was a souvenir stand, and a kiosk with a roll of newly taken photos crossing the screen. Amani spotted theirs, and promptly covered her eyes in comical embarrassment, a shaky grin nonetheless forming on her face. Alicio had gone for the cutesy finish, but Amani looked almost frightened as he gave her a smooch.

Kahlil_Div2.png

This was it.

Kahlil had accepted his fate, following Valery's lead to assist but truly, he had simply accepted his fate. He was going to die. They were going to fly off this slide and simply meet a rather unceremonious end. He wasn't panicked or frightened, just at peace with it. Calm. Even the picture that was taken as they practically blurred by had the tranquil smile clear as day. And the empty eyes of a man who had accepted death.

He didn't die, though. Neither of them did. He wasn't quick to stand, either, more rolled off to lay on his back and stare at the holographic sky through the thick, fake clouds born from the volcano.

This was an amusement park.

He stood after a moment, wandering after the others in that sort of daze as he looked up to the pictures. Smiled the same exact smile again.

"That's right. There's a whole day of this."

"Woo! That was fun huh, love?" Valery had gotten up and looked at her soulless husband, who was still on his back, staring up at the holographic sky. She just grinned, walked over, and helped pull him up to his feet again. "Yes, we're going to have fun here all day," Valery said as she took his hand and started pulling him along. "You know who you married. You could have expected this, you know." She bumped her hip into his side and started walking over to the Organas. Winning this little race wasn't too important to her - not after seeing her husband this way.

That was her biggest win of the day, and she would have to cherish it. Because one way or another, he was going to take revenge.

"Oh I'm totally taking the picture. The kids have to see this," Valery said with a dangerous sparkle in her eyes before she put down the credits for it at the kiosk. "Awwe. You guys' picture looks so cute!" She then exclaimed as the one with Alicio and Amani popped up on screen a moment later. Of course, she saw the frightened look in Amani's eyes on it, and there was definitely a slightly teasing smirk targeting her best friend, but the kiss was still very adorable.

She'd have to get a cute picture like that with Kahlil to remember today as well.

"So, unless you all want to go again..." She winked at her husband, "...I say we try something new. You two can pick because I kind of dragged you all into the high speed part of the slide." She squeezed Kahlil's hand and looked at the Organas to see what they were going for next.

"Whew. That was… quite the start to our day."
"That's right. There's a whole day of this."

Alicio nodded happily as Amani spoke, then chuckled at Kahlil's nearly-shellshocked face. It was hard to tell with the tall Jedi, but he swore he could see fear in those hollow eyes of his. "What? I thought we were going to go down all five levels. We have to get the full Fun World experience." His mouth ticked up, only briefly, before they all traveled to the souvenir stand.

And Alicio full-on laughed. He'd never paid for something so quickly in his life.

"This is perfect." Alicio studied the glossy up close, letting Amani judge the masterpiece, before carefully placing it in a bag. "I shall put it everywhere."

In the end, Valery gave up her right to choose to the younger couple. Alicio didn't have to think much before voicing his suggestion. "Well, perhaps something a little calmer. The Enchanted Lagoon?" He nodded his head across the station, through dazzling displays and depth-defying rides. He could see it from here, a large grotto of multicolored greenery, it's name advertised on floating letters in the sky. Even from this distance, it looked...

Enchanted.

"Awwe. You guys' picture looks so cute!"

"That's a word for it," Amani whined. Despite her embarrassment, she did also think it was adorable, which is why her protest to Alicio buying the photo was minimal, "As long as I don't see it on national news tonight, I won't make you sleep on the couch." Amani chuckled, her attention then quickly turning to the Lagoon as it was mentioned. Something a bit more low-key would be nice, between all the high-adrenaline rides.

"I think Kahlil needs some time to get the color back in his face," Amani joked, "So yes. Let's try the Lagoon. I wanna see just how much they have there." The holographic garden could be seen from here, a comparatively subdued attraction to all the other dazzling displays surrounding them. That was more than alright with her.

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Not going again."

He had no intention of running that circuit again, not at that speed at least. And, well, he knew for a fact that Valery would only want to go faster. That was a hard pass, not with how tense he felt after the first. The only change in his expression was a more genuine smile of thanks to Amani's joke. He really could use a break, even after just the first ride. "The Lagoon. That sounds nice. Slow. Very slow."
