PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Core rotating tool belt features a variety of tools and equipment for repair, construction, and maintenance.
  • Droid brain includes extensive databanks on a variety of star charts, information, starship schematics, etc.
  • Droid brain includes a holonet uplink with access to all non-classified Roble Manufacturing and subsidy technology schematics to assist in repair.
  • Bacta spray and stim injectant to serve as brief medic and field support.
  • Extensive medical databank.
  • Resistance to damage, particularly from Ion/EMP sources.
  • A miniaturized tractor beam allows the droid to 'grab' objects.
  • Magnetic lock anchors droid to a position in low/zero-gravity environments.
  • Capable of slicing and accessing terminals.
  • Well-developed personality matrix.
STRENGTHS
  • Astromech: The DB-series is a small and helpful astromech, able to float around and fix various mechanisms on starships and vehicles, even technology. It has a wide array of different equipment for a variety of tasks, and its magnetic lock allows the DB-series to attach itself to objects in low or zero-g environments.
  • Slicer: A DB-series droid has a variety of slicing capabilities and can slice a terminal, computer, or holonet database, given enough time.
  • Medical Droid: With bacta-spray (nominally using green bacta, but can use any type of biopharmaceutical) and stim-injections, a DB-series can give medical assistance on the fly when access to more comprehensive care is unavailable.
WEAKNESSES
  • Non-Combatant: The droid does not feature any sort of armament and is not suited for a combat role.
  • Magnetic Lock: The magnetic lock only functions on metallic objects, limiting its functionality to a short range of materials.
  • Limited Stock: Because of the droid's small frame, it can only contain a limited amount of bacta and stim. Frequent use will require constant replenishment of stores.
DESCRIPTION
The DB-Series Astromech is the latest model to come out of the partnership between Fondor giant Roble Manufacturing and the historic droid foundries of Industrial Automaton. A next-generation Astromech droid, the DB-series is lighter, better, faster, stronger, and an overall improvement on the base design that astromechs have to offer.

Like any Astromech, the DB-series primary role is to serve as a mechanical and navigational aide for starpilots. Equipped with a vast array of tools to repair and operate starship technology, the unique repulsorlift movement system of the DB-series allows it to access locations that are hard to navigate for wheeled and treaded astromechs, such as the R-series and BB-series. It also gives the DB-series a unique advantage in low and zero-gravity environments, its repulsorlifts granting it free movement with magnetic locks that ensure it will not stray too far from a position. However, the astromech portions of the DB-series are the only tip of the iceberg when it comes to what the droid is capable of.

The DB-series advanced processing systems and heuristic learning facilities make it an adept slicer, miles ahead of its contemporaries in the astromech field and putting it in league with dedicated sabotage and slicing droids. Although its vocalization is limited to binary to conserve processor space, it has the capability to understand millions of forms of communication on par with a standard protocol droid model. The advanced integrated comlink, optical sensors, and droid brain all work to improve the droid's capabilities and functionality, turning the DB-series into the true 'next-generation' astromech that Roble and Industrial Automaton bill it to be.

But perhaps what stands out most about the DB-series is its capability to serve in a medical role. Although it does not have the same facilities or capabilities as a dedicated medical droid, its medical database and diagnosis protocols paired with a bacta spray and stim injector allow it to perform quick medical aid in dire situations, or as directed by the droid's owner. Altogether, the DB-series is a highly advanced and very useful astromech droid, whether the owner is a gunslinger, spacer, or a mix of both.

Changes Made: Fixed broken source.
