CHRONICLE INFORMATION
The Sith Triumvirate established in 815 ABY has ruled the growing Sith Empire for nearly thirteen years, each of the three ruling Lords of the Sith guiding the Imperial state towards an age of expansion and enrichment.
However, as it so often happened, greed plagued the hearts of those in power.
Darth Moridin, Triumvir of the Pillar of Strength, had bid his time over the past decade, laying the groundwork for his inevitable ascension as sole ruler of the Sith Empire. He had dissuaded the idea of an Emperor early on in the Triumvirate's existence, professing that the Empire was too weak to bear the weight that the title would impose upon it. This was a ruse, Lord Moridin had always harbored intentions of claiming the throne for himself when the opportunity presented itself.
And in the autumn of 828 ABY it came.
With his power base solidified and the loyalties of the Ministry of Intelligence all but assured, Moridin set his coup into motion by ordering his most ardent followers to disperse across Kaas City and eliminate any potential rivals or obstacles to his ascension. What followed was one of the most thorough massacres in the history of the modern Sith Empire, with hundreds of Sith, military officers, and civil servants being slaughtered as they slept or cut down in short, but brutal, conflict.
Moridin himself stormed into the Imperial Citadel, breaking into the Dark Council's chamber and single-handedly slaying the eight Dark Councilors present. The four survivors had already pledged their support to Moridin and had not been in attendance as the coup unfurled. With none left to challenge him, Moridin declared himself the First Sith Emperor of the Sith Empire and appointed the Minister of Intelligence, Kaine Zambrano, as his Grand Vizier.
Vizier Zambrano then spread the message of Moridin's ascension across the Empire, delivering an impassioned speech on the glory and wealth that Emperor Moridin would bestow on the Empire now that he was its true ruler.
The Dark Council was officially disbanded in the aftermath of the coup, and legislative power was transferred to a body of regional governors led by the Emperor and his inner cabinet.
Emperor Moridin's reign had begun.
