Goal: Kidnapping

The Matriarch only stared back placidly while the child made emotional demands, even though Lirri's heart did not exude such emotion. She did not believe the little girl capable to enforce anything.

At her demand that she be returned to the planet, Pom replied, "They require no further assistance."

As the girl's attention wandered, and Pom also answered this inquiry. "You have been brought into the Netherworld. It is through which I travel from one side the Galaxy to the other," she revealed, matter-of-factly. The child might have voiced a preference for the Light, but there are aspects of her being seen through her actions, which led the Mistress Malcontent to believe she struggles executing the horribly egregious Dogma of the Jedi.

Pom subtly leaned toward the girl as she spoke, "I should like to teach you some things." After all Lirri did mention immediately upon their meeting, that she has no opposition to being shown the Darkside.

Pom extended her slender, pale hand to the child for the taking. Neither her actions, nor her demeanor mean any threat.

"You are invited," she said. The Padawan would need take the Nightsister's hand so that she does not get lost in the vast surreal existence of the Nether.

If the girl accepted the journey's beginning, Pom shall attempt to open her eyes to a way she obviously knows nothing about, about the ways of the Nightsister.

"It's time that you examine yourself, Councillor Vandiir. There are more ways to improve than just being stronger, smarter, faster -- there is much more to life than reason and power." A sad smile crossed her face. In truth -- it didn't matter. Nothing did. Meaning was a thing she had to build for herself because there were no ultimate answers in the universe. Others had to do the same; and though she might attempt to dissuade someone like Adrian from his 'misguided' views she could never force someone to change. She had no doubts about her morals, her choices, her life. Today she'd attempted to make Adrian question his own.

But just as Auteme was unmoving, he seemed the same. Meeting him in this head-on conversation without truly understanding his worldview would not be enough to change him. Not that understanding was much better; he was twisted and sad.

The Force told her there was little else for her here. She walked forward, stopping in front of the Dark Councillor. "Your laboratory seems to be in working order. Best of luck in your future research," she said, giving him a pat on the shoulder before heading to the exit. She paused only once more at the door. "I hope you improve."

She was whisked away on the wind, disappearing into the night.

Joycelyn’s stuff:

Risen Risen

It was the barest moment when she felt his intent and the whisper.

Sail

Everything exploded around her, and Joycelyn felt herself picked up off her feet. The fires she had summoned screeched as they were extinguished in the blast of wind, turning them white hot, then suddenly dead cold. Had she worn her heavy armour, then Joycelyn would most likely have fallen hard and had to push herself up.

Now, instead, she let the wind carry her into a backwards somersault, then landed heavily on her feet meters back. Her ears were ringing, deafening her to all but their own high-pitched whine. She was dizzy, eyes forced themselves to focus.

There he was, her Jedi opponent.

His weapon darted at her. She first thought he was going for her throat, but the angle was just off: Shoulder, her existing wound.

Her shield didn’t cover and wouldn’t reach in time, and her sword was too far back. Perhaps she could parry, but then he would be out of reach. Her face formed a sneer as she allowed his knife to sink into her shoulder, temporarily disabling her sword arm. The sword still clung to her hand as if holding on by its own might, but with the blade sticking into her shoulder she would not be able to wield it effectively.

But he was within range.

She allowed him within grappling range, pressing the shield against him to give him something to struggle against. He was wrestling her, seeking to wrest her off the cliff, but Joycelyn stood firm with her weight, with her rage.

Then she opened her mouth.

There was no sound as much as there was a ‘pop’ when she let out her yell of the force. Sparks of red electricity crawled over her face as she released a powerful pulse of the Force into Risen at point blank range, seeking to throw him off her and off the cliff. The boulders cracked and snow was pushed to the sides, melting rapidly under the radiant heat. Even the storm that surrounded them seemed to take a moment’s breath.

”You don’t have to decide when they need help and when they don’t!”

The little girl said sympathetically. She wanted to help as much as she could, but that was prevented from doing so. Lirri paused at the mention of Netherworld and looked at the evil aunt in surprise. How was she able to bring them here? Would she have been much stronger than she thought? Based on that, it was possible. The little girl's knowledge of the Netherworld was not too much, she knew that the afterlife, and especially the dead souls who had become one with the Force, and, of course, that evil persons with great knowledge could summon souls from here into the real world, with necromancy.

As Pom offered her the opportunity, the two halves of the little girl's soul clashed. On the one hand, she was there not to accept the offer because of the Jedi teachings. But! But she was also there to hear about things that could help her be a better Jedi and better fight the members of the Dark Side. The other was that she was naive, but she guessed the evil aunt wouldn't let her go. This way you will either be a guest or a prisoner. And then the guest was a better option. Assuming that no one had ever dealt with her and that her disappearance had not been noticed, her absence would not have been striking either.

”I accept the invitation!”

She finally said a little defiantly. And if they left here, since she could do very little else, she set off on Pom's side, wherever they went.

But it wasn’t enough.

New strength hummed in Risen’s body, teased out by this burning thing that took the shape of a woman. He attacked with drunken intensity in the collapsing moments that followed. But the giant stood firm, welcoming the offensive and — in a frozen moment of recognition between fighters — reversing it.

It would take days for Risen to remember everything that happened after that. Her barbaric yawp, which carried force without reason and noise without sound, succeeded in launching Risen from the cliffside. He tumbled, paperlike, into the chasm below.

Only, through a whine of fleeting consciousness, he didn’t feel the earth’s impact. A rescue team of Jedi would recover him some distance from where he was thrown.

And Risen would remember, dimly, a gentle wind which guided him across snowy bluffs to even ground.

And he would remember Sail, sticking blade-first into the ground beside him.

[End.]
