SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • The Nuclear Option -
    • During the deployment of the Landing Castle, it serves as a self contained orbital bombardment; landing with the force of a fleet's firepower to help clear the way for its expansion on a planet. This can level large areas in a span of a few seconds from its pure kinetic force, but more importantly - it can use this to its own benefit on destroying high value targets; with the added benefit of a large scale EMP rolling outwards from Ground Zero.
  • Grey Goo -
    • Once landed, and the droid factory begins expansion; it is able to collect resources of every sort and turn them into the required materials through a variety of factories and self regulations, all before construction droids onboard begin to expand the facilities to develop even more goods; allowing for this FOB to expand near endlessly across the planet, even going as far to turning it into a Fortress World should it be allowed to operate for years unhindered.
  • Fort Knox -
    • At its central drop point, the facility has an exceptional defense and armament; meaning once it is fully deployed, assaulting the facility is extremely dangerous for enemy combatants. From orbital autocannons capable of shooting fleets in orbit, to more localized anti-air measures; the Landing Castle is a planetary siege vehicle in itself.
  • Shields-Be-Gone -
    • Utilizing high tech solutions offered by Jaeger themselves, the FOB is able to breach planetary shields through an electronic disruption that sees itself 'meld' through the barriers. This does not apply to the rounds it can fire, and the shield will cut off connection to central command - meaning it can no longer receive any information or commands for its operation, or even directly report conditions on the planet until connection is reestablished.
WEAKNESSES
  • Get The Ball Rolling -
    • To begin, the facility has a very slow construction rate. Meaning that while, long term, it is a dangerous foe - for the first days to weeks, it can't produce nearly enough droids, weapons, or vehicles to actually ensure its siege status; it is more a slow burn that sees victory through attrition, since it in itself is immune to such.
  • Self Inflicted -
    • While the FOB does have 'extreme' defenses, it should be noted that a grave amount of that defenses is used in its own protection against its landing maneuver. While it certainly can devastate whole areas, in doing so it opens itself up to immediate strikes from waiting ground forces, fleets in orbit, or any other would be hero; since it would take a long while before its defenses come back to full operating power.
  • Green House Gases -
    • Due to the mass industrial output of the FOB, much of the air directly around the facility will become gravely toxic to organics; creating a serious issue when regulation becomes the focus. While most systems are automated, and a connection can be made through long distance means, should the communications ever be stopped - there is little way to make alterations or otherwise stop the expansion of the facility unless connection is reestablished, or enviromentally safe equipment is used to get close - or atmospheric cleansers are constructed.
  • Howl's Not-So-Moving Castle
    • Due to its enormous size, and exceptionally girthy construction; the core of the self replicating FOB must be transported via orbital ships - towed through hyperspace by ships with the power to do so. Because of this, an escort is almost always needed, and more than this - it means that once the facility is placed on a planet, there is no turning back. Until it is complete, stopped, or otherwise destroyed - it is unrecoverable from its landed position, and can not do anything else.

With previous success using the well known PCS-121 “Planet Cracker” Class PAC, and the continued contractual agreements between Jaeger Solutions and the Confederacy of Independent States; a commission was made for Jaeger to create an all too needed siege weapon for planets in the sphere of the Confederacy, without all the essential ‘governance’ required of such a position. To settle the state of rebellion, Jaeger created the concept, and eventual design of the D-1 “Srina” Class Landing Castle.
Designed around the older concepts of Self Constructing Armament factories, the D-1 designed with the sole purpose of being a military fortress that built itself in the first steps of a planetary assault; or to even be used to turn latent planets into massive Fortress Worlds given enough time - capable of pumping out the various droids needed for the CIS war efforts. This, however, would take years of continuous processing - but it is the end game of any D-1.
In the stages of its deployment, the first and foremost is its transport and essential placement on the planet in question. Having to be towed through Hyperspace, the burden these great FOB pose is almost enough to make them less than useful - slowly a fleet to a crawl as a variety of ships are forced to compensate for the mass. The easiest way to transport one, is through the use of 10km ships; as they almost exclusively have the horsepower required to drag one of these behemoths through space.
Deploying to the planet, however, is perhaps the flashiest point of this entire process. Able to bypass planetary shields through disruption technology, the D-1 is sent plummeting to the surface of a planet in a grand display of war and its sins. Landing with the kinetic force of an orbital bombardment, the D-1 sends out a vast EMP field to everything with a few Kilometer radius; itself shutting down for a few careful moments before coming back online. Once more online, the “Srina” begins its last point of deployment.
Consumption.
The last of its phases, the FOB will eventually serve as the command pod for the planet as a whole - but for those first few weeks, it serves as little more than a toxic fumigation factory, constantly stripping the planet of its resources and drawing them into the molecular furnaces - to turn them into necessary metals and materials to create what needs to be created. This can be anything uploaded through the mobile connections to the site; but if connection is lost, it will default to the droids left on its cargo bay; as those are the default standards for construction.
In terms of armament, the forward operating base was given a wide variety of Jaeger branded products; the premiere of these being the HVC-120 “Pit Horror” Hypervelocity Cannons, capable of spreading hyper carnage across great swaths of land around the core. That, and the ‘Gos Karza’ emplacements help to make sure the facility is safe from fighters, bombers, and the various ground forces that would inevitably come to strike the facility down.
Defensively, the FOB is armed with a Jaeger’s branded starship hull - allowing it a vast set of plates that help stop most penetrating rounds; be they from hypervelocity cannons or otherwise. The added addition of the ‘Aegis’ shield allows for the vast majority of damage to stop there; though it should be noted that after deployment, the facility is dangerous low on its shielded defenses by comparison to later on, or even when it floats in space. This is due to the vast kinetic energy of its arrival - meaning that the facility is hardly as strong as it needs to be during the critical moments of its arrival; also making it the most vulnerable time for it.
It should also be noted that should the FOB take enough damage while in space, the deployment of it will actually see the FOB itself destroyed from its arrival; as the strain would be too much for it should it begin to lose too much of its deployment shielding.
Overall, the IMS backed, D-1 is capable of serving as the siege engine of most planetary assaults the CIS requires; and is a dangerous weapon hell bent on securing their dominion amidst their own planets, and those careless few who seek to test their right to the Outer Rim, Mid Rim, or Core.
