GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Organization Name: Cult Of The Brain Demon

  • Classification: Religious Cult

  • Affiliation: None. (Operates in secret on multiple worlds)

  • Organization Symbol: See Spoiler above

  • Description: A foul and murderous cult made up primarily of shape shifting Dark Side Witches and the occasional male Warlock, the Cult seeks to spread misery and suffering to the innocent no matter who they are, often picking scattered colonies or villages where entire families are rounded up, butchered, and sacrificed to their venerated "Unholy Spirit", an entity known as The Brain Demon, or having their minds and life forces digested to sustain their alchemized flesh. The Cult seeks to create or strengthen Dark Side Nexuses where they travel, to corrupt any Force Adept they encounter through persuasion and preaching of the Dark Side's glories, and to make as many citizens think like Dark Siders as much as possible, as The Cult views this as imparting a quasi-enlightenment on a social inferior, and for exceptional individuals in this category, they are sometimes given Force Sensitivity and basic Dark Side instruction, with a purely optional invitation to join the Cult. All members are required to be murderous and sadistically cruel in the extreme to all others, including adepts who refuse to embrace the Dark Side.
GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: There is no single headquarters, to avoid the vulnerability of placing big, obvious temples as targets. Training is conducted in small, disguised chapterhouses whose presence in the Force is concealed by Blood Magic or on the ground in various "Fly or Die" scenarios, each test becoming increasingly crueler until the trainee must be crueler still to survive.

  • Domain: In ancient years they had a temple on Ryloth dedicated to The Brain Demon, which has now been destroyed and an Ancient Lake of Black Fire on Atrisia from which they held a Dark Side Mass now sealed off by The Resistors of Darkness. Darth Phyre's tomb was recently uncovered, but that is under strict guard by The Silver Jedi. Other than that, their presence is scattered, training conducted on the go or in hidden chapterhouses. Members often have unassuming, civilian identities, using blood magic to keep their true nature hidden in the Force. Only the most experienced and trusted are allowed to moonlight in major factions without The Matriarch's direct approval (Player Characters are exempt from this stipulation) When they go and do their black magic they are heinous, barbaric opponents without honor that will butcher and sacrifice entire communities to the Dark Side for the sheer pleasure of it. They delight in spreading misery and suffering to the innocent and will subject them to the most painful uses of the Dark Side, all while keeping their identities hidden. Due to their decentralized, ground level nature, their stealth capability, horrific cruelty and penchant for murdering people while assuming the appearance of their loved ones, people were terrified of the Cult during the Zenith of their effect on the Galactic Landscape during the worst of the Gulag Plague, and many Jedi were hunted down by the cult and slaughtered like animals, or had their knowledge and personality absorbed by a witch to later use as part their disguise to murder the Jedi's friends, allies, or loved ones. They are careful to keep their civil and sorcery identities seperate where necessary.

SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Hierarchy:
The Cult's hierarchy is primarily that of shape shifting witches and occasional warlocks, multiple minds working together in conjunction inside a single alchemized Shi'ido body to increase their collective power in the Darkness. Their hierarchy is based on how many minds currently inhabit a single witch or warlock, though singular individuals demonstrating exceptional power and skill will be allowed to advance without bias, as the Cult understands the Will of The Dark Side is a complicated thing, and its aims may be better accomplished occasionally by singular entities. However, to advance to each level, they are forced to slay powerful witches or warlocks of their choice in ritual combat. The Matriarch of the Cult often takes an apprentice without any persona except their own in a body, both to have a reliable bodyguard and agent of their will without multiple conflicting urges in their own head, and to symbolize that even the most singular of entities can ascend the cult and stand at the side of the Matriarch herself without prejudice, so long as their power and devotion to the Bogan is without question.

Covens

These witches and warlocks having begun their path of ascent in the Cult with only two dozen or so personalities in a single body, all equally homicidal, sadistic, and devoted to the Dark Side, making even an average cultist a deadly threat to the innocent, padawans, and a great challenge to Jedi Knights. Covens advance in the cult by successfully defeating and absorbing the minds of other Covens, their blood thirst and sadism growing with each absorbed mind.

Covens other duties include regularly engaging in ritualized murder and sacrifice to the Brain Demon, regular preaching to any Adept who is curious, even if they do not join the cult. Covens only need to drain life from others once every sixteen weeks

Convents

The witches whose absorbed collection of minds number at over four dozen are named Convents. These are the crueler, more vicious witches and warlocks, trusted with more complicated operations, such as the corruption of Force Nexuses. These witches and warlocks must engage in ritualized murder more often to feed their bodies the required amount of Dark Side energy they need to sustain themselves. Convents are the first to engage in battle against Jedi Knights much more regularly and with greater success. These need to Force Drain once every twelve weeks to sustain themselves

Collectives

Witches and Warlocks whose bodies are inhabited by more than eight dozen personalities are termed Collectives. These handle the most sensitive rites and operations of the cult, blessing Force Adepts who submit to being inhabited by multiple people, all horribly evil, as well as Non-Adepts who sincerely seek to aid the cult. They are responsible for planning and enacting atrocity after atrocity to spread the Dark Side, as well as serving the will of the Matriarch directly. These are a deadly threat to Jedi Master and Darth Alike. These require Force Drain every eight weeks to sustain themselves.

Communities

Witches or Warlocks who absorb dozens and dozens of personalities are often the most powerful members chosen to lead the Cult. No more than one Community can exist at a time, and whoever is the Community is effectively Matriarch of the Cult. These can pose a threat to the brightest Jedi or Darkest Sith, and usually require Force Drain every four weeks to sustain themselves, though due to to having the greatest concentration of the Dark in their body. The Amalgam is this rank.

Membership: Approximately Four thousand members scattered in secret all over the Galaxy, practicing heinous rituals. The Cult usually spies an adept they want and believes would join and approaches accordingly, trying to convince them of the benefits of the Darkness. They will even accept those who approach them and simply ask to be shown the Dark Side, and it is a standing mandate that each cult member must demonstrate a power of the Dark Side to any curious adept on the spot should it be requested. The initiates are blessed by the second highest ranking witches or warlocks, or even the Matriarch herself if a candidate proves exceptional. Candidates must simply be a Force Adept to be considered, with a willingness to engage in exceptional savagery other Dark Adepts might balk at. Members, once accepted, are required to bring suffering and mutilation to the innocent wherever they travel regularly while not being caught, must kill or corrupt Jedi whenever possible, and corrupt ordinary people to Dark Philosophy.

  • Climate: As with all Dark Side Organizations treachery is abound. You are required to absorb the minds of or kill your rivals for advancement. Unlike other Dark Side Organizations this is treated as a sport between athletes as opposed to knuckle dragging fights for one's life. Rivals, even as they scheme to absorb the minds of their rivals, kill their rivals, or both, have a healthy respect for each others capability. Comraderie and frendliness is encouraged, even as both parties engaged in such know it will nearly always end in death or absorption for one or the other. Members have been known to infamously fixate on adepts they see a great destiny in the Darkness for, and seek to bring them to the Dark by any means necessary. In the end they are all sadists to the core, and while they can respect a rival, even become pseudo friends or even actual friends with a rival, when the rivals destruction occurs, it occurs with immense relish on the part of the destroyer.

  • Reputation: During The Gulag Era the Cult inspired fear in any area they were known to operate, due to their violent, depraved rituals that involved mutilation and other torments simply too horrific to describe. They eventually inspired fear in millions during the height of their power, which only took a dive when Darth Phyre was "slain". These days, almost no one alive remembers the Cult of The Brain Demon...almost all of their most powerful members were slain eventually, until for a time, it was just The Amalgam. But as more of her power and skill have recovered due to intense Hibernation in another persona for a prolonged period of time, Both the Amalgam and the evil spirit she worships have begun visiting people in their sleep to promise them great power and diety-ship in exchange for having nearly no line they are unwilling to cross.

  • Curios: Many of the cults most important relics are in other hands. Efforts are being made to recover them.

  • Rules:
  • 1: The Darkness must spread
  • 2: Do whatever you have to to spread it
  • 3: Kill for power
  • 4: Make others want to kill for power
  • 5: Kill to prove superiority
  • 6: The Unholy Spirit is a manifestation of the Bogan, and must be worshipped
  • 007: All who use the light are week and must be enlightened or killed

  • Goals: The Cult seeks to spread the Dark Side for its own sake, on both a galactic scale and domestic level, irregardless of armies or governments to back them up (though they utilize them all the same when acquired). They also seek to create a "Super-Community" of Dark Siders in the body of one. This creature will be known as The Mind Binder to spread

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The Cult of The Brain Demon is an ancient cult dating back officially to the first century of The Gulag Virus, however it has its roots in a much smaller sect that formed on Ryloth to worship a Force Using Abomination that visited them in their sleep, promising they could be come Gods by listening to it. The Sect was purged by The Mandragora, though not before a single survivor managed to kickstart the creation of Darth Phyre by recovering the magical remains of a Jedi known as The Specialist from Atrisia who had been killed by trying to use forbidden magic to conjure from the Future a Jedi Warrior she could barely see in her vision but was deeply convinced she had a Force Bond to. Corrupting The Specialist's bones with the Dark Side, the surviving witch sacrificed herself to give the Brain Demon the power to enter the minds of multiple, incredibly powerful Sith, who she would mentally torture until they agreed to use their magic to create a deadly creature who would harbor all their skills and power combined. This resulted in the creation of Darth Phyre, who would officially found the Cult of The Brain Demon, which would kill or attempt to kill thousands or even millions of innocents to create Dark Side Force Echoes in addition to the ravages of The Gulag Plague for the near entirety of its duration. Their first opposition were a faction of Peace Keeping Mandalorians known as The Crime Hunters, who violently opposed them at every turn until they were annihilated at Kar Shiin a siege led personally by Darth Phyre, who skinned alive all the survivors and sacrificed their organs to the Dark Side. The death of the Crime Hunters outraged members of the Force Sensitive De Lifte Family, who resolved to form a Jedi Order to oppose The Cult. When no master could be found due to the galactic pandemic, Darth Phyre's relentless hunting of Jedi survivors, and wide spread mistrust of Force Users, the Whill Guardian Adrian De Lifte convinced his wife Emma to allow him to release a Sith War Criminal that once preached a heretical Light Side Philosophy alien to Jedi Morals in desperation. Convincing the Light Side Sith Darth Themis to pose as a Jedi Master named Moya De Lifte, she was inducted into the family and immediately set about training Jedi as per the agreement of her release. Though The De Lifte Family did indeed create a Jedi Order, and heroically opposed the cult time after time, destroying significant portions of their assets that weakened them for later enemies, eventually they too suffered the fate of The Crime Hunters, again personally at Phyre's hands. The Cult's luck changed once they encountered an Alkahest using faction of Jedi called The Resistors of Darkness, whose Leader, the mysterious individual known as The Man in White, captured and personally executed Phyre, using her remains which had been torn off her skeleton by magic to craft the Jedi Weapon that later became known as Syd Celsius. The Cult's fortunes suffered a rapid decline, with her being used to occasionally hunt down and kill the leaders that had replaced Phyre. As more and more were killed off as galactic order reestablished itself, the Cult's power, and the power of its unholy Spirit were reduced to just The Congregation and The Amalgam for many years, until the Amalgam's return. After establishing a power base, The Amalgam has begun a mass recruitment drive.

Feared and despised for their deep viciousness towards the innocent during The Plague, The Cult is a murderous and inhumane organization, filled with mostly shapeshifters inhabited by dozens, or (in The Amalgam's case) hundreds of evil minds acquired through knowledge tearing...all devoted to the Darkness. There are very, very few lines they won't cross, to the point that even a good number of Sith are disgusted by their callousness. A fanatical group, the best solutions when encountering the Cult if you are a civilian, is, to paraphrase a certain radio jockey, run, hide, or fight if you have the guts (Huge Guts) and the blasters but Force's sake don't go waving the white flag...they'll just use it as part of the ritual to devour your soul...
