A SECOND GREAT HYPERSPACE WAR STORY
THE ERA OF RECLAMATION
Janara III
div-orange.png

Despite the war with the Empire escalating greatly with the Battle on Ilum, the Era of Reclamation remains a priority to the Galactic Alliance. New plans have been set in motion to not only prepare for the liberation of lost core worlds, but for what comes after as well. But as these parts of a much larger puzzle begin to come together, expansion along the southern border continues as well, now with Alliance eyes turned to Janara III.

Once considered a beautiful planet, covered in rolling hills and vast fields of green, Janara III's exposure to disasters has ruined much of its landscapes. But with Jedi, soldiers, and volunteers converging on the planet, a far better future awaits its inhabitants.

Will you take part in its recovery, or is your focus required on preparations for the next steps in the Second Great Hyperspace War?

I — Unlight of Janara III

Struck by catastrophe, part of Janara III's surface has turned into a corrupted wasteland — a wound in the Force created by the sudden deaths of many. Valery Noble Valery Noble returns to the planet to cleanse it of darkness and help those affected by it to resettle. She has called on other Jedi to assist, and patrol the created wasteland and ghost towns for creatures and people corrupted by the dark void.

Extreme caution is advised.

II — A Way through Darkness

After the Battle of Coruscant, agents of the SIA recovered a Sith Wayfinder from a derelict Maw Battlecruiser that allows ships to traverse the dangerous regions of space the Maw have infested with their darkness. For the Era of Reclamation to become a great success, it's crucial that Alliance fleets are able to maneuver safely through Maw Space.

For this reason, IVI IVI has offered the artifact back to the Jedi — with SIA oversight — so it can be deciphered and integrated into Alliance ships.

III — GEHINNOM II

During the Battle for Empress Teta, the Alliance managed to not only liberate the planet but also retrieve a powerful Maw battle station. With new plans in motion, resources are desperately needed, and so the order has been given to strip the station down, reverse engineer some of its horrible technology, and repurpose it for entirely new Alliance projects.

Jedi of the NJO are tasked to board the station and purify corrupted Kyber crystals or other Force artifacts, while SIA agents and mechanics take a deeper look into the technology the Maw once turned against the Alliance.

There was a joke to be had, the blind leading the blind. The physically blind leading the spiritually blind. Again another piece of evidence that the universe did have a wicked sense of humour about these things. To be perfectly honest, he wasn't a fan of the SIA deciding to hoard Sith artefacts, even something as relatively harmless as a wayfinder.

There was too high a risk of spiritual contamination, even if their agents could not feel the Force, they could still be warped by more subtle influences. Just a nudge towards anger, a poke towards more spiteful behaviour. Tiny, imperceptible influences over a period of time until the affected individual found themselves doing things they normally would never conceive.

The Force was not a toy, not a resource to be exploited and certainly not a tool. It was the fire of creation, the breath of God and the heartbeat of the universe itself. And it was aware enough to not take kindly to those who thought themselves better than it.

"If any of the attendees start feeling uncomfortable or start feeling anxious, say so immediately. You're probably being influenced by a horrible evil artefact." He said, holding up a finger, head craning to look at those who would be giving oversight to this whole debacle. He trusted that any of his fellow Jedi who were around were either as prepared as he was, or wise enough to keep their own spiritual defences up.

He didn't know how this particular wayfinder would work. If there were traps, hidden secrets or some other such nasty surprises. His more mystical and occult senses just told him that the object in front of him was a bad idea to play around with.

"Does anyone have any questions before we begin?" He asked, sparing a glance at those who had come in today.

"Does anyone have any questions before we begin?" He asked, sparing a glance at those who had come in today.

"Yeah." a voice spoke through the gathered, the door sliding close behind the man's back.

"Why are the SIA here?" the raven-haired Jedi stepped from the shadows, a faint limp in Dagon Kaze's right foot.

"And why is that in their possession?" he frowned.

Janara III

It had been quite some time since she last visited this planet, but she was never going to forget the experience. It happened during the time that some lab-fabricated parasite was slowly killing her from within — she had traveled to this world to address what looked like a cult taking control. But what she discovered was much darker, and led up to her being captured and tortured for days on end.

While she had managed to escape and reduce some of the damage done to the planet, the sudden death of many poor souls had created a wound in the Force that corrupted the landscape. Ghost towns were left behind, animals were affected by sudden insanity and people were changing.

It was an awful place to be and created a sickening feeling in the Force, but it was a Jedi's duty to cleanse these wounds and help those altered by it. But Valery was also here for another reason — one currently only known to IVI IVI and Arage Bao Arage Bao and soon the Council, but this would be an important step in that process.

"Alright, here goes," Valery let out a soft sigh and stepped into the Unlight of Janara III

"If any of the attendees start feeling uncomfortable or start feeling anxious, say so immediately. You're probably being influenced by a horrible evil artefact."

Jasper frowned. That didn’t sound right at all. He was supposed to be going to purify crystals, not hunt down artifacts with… the SIA? Of course, it didn’t take long for the realization to hit the young duelist that he had, indeed, gotten on the wrong shuttle entirely. How he had taken this long to realize this was a completely different question in and of itself, but he was here now. Jasper was roped into it.

"Any other questions?"

He tried to recall what the briefing has said about the various missions. The artifact was supposed to be a wayfinder of some kind. The question of the hour was pretty obvious: Where did it lead?

“This thing is a Sith Wayfinder, right?” Jasper asked, trying to play it off like he had intended to be on this mission. “Do we have any clue where it points to?”

But a Jedi's responsibilities never ceased. She had been privileged enough to at least get a modicum of closure alongside Jos Krayt Jos Krayt as they had returned to Ilum to at least try and make peace with the heartache that had happened.

She was at least more at peace once more.

Today, she was travelling with a master Yenna Yenna across the scarred landscape of Janara III to at least try and heal what they could within the Unlight as they were briefed by the Sword of the Jedi.

As the dropship touched down, the two masters hopped down onto the desolate ground. The stain of the Bogan ran deep within the area, sending the hair on Zhea's arms on end. They had their work cut out for them.

She drew a heavy breath before turning to the little Jedi. "Let's start in that town - see what we can find and who can still be helped. What do you think, Master Yenna?" she suggested, pointing toward the husk of a town closeby. They had to move quickly, despite the corruption from the Wound weighing heavy on them.

They would surely face nightmares beyond their comprehension before long.

"With any luck, right to the heart of the Maw's operation," Bernard answered the Padawan's Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el question.

The vagueness there bothered him. The Maw had hit the heart of the Alliance before, Coruscant. Since then, Bernard had been witness to untold instances of Brotherhood destruction wrought upon the Core, and he was itching to get back at them.

Right now, there was a different set of problems, however. One intellectual, or spiritual, depending on your views. Another a matter of security.

He moved next to Dagon and Aaran, rubbing shoulders to get a better look at the Wayfinder.

"We can't let them keep this," he whispered. "Sith artefacts outside Jedi hands? Dangerous."

It took a long bath in a bacta tank, coupled with some skilled healing from the Mandokarla after her fight on Rothana against Dimitri, not to mention a few long talks with Runi about what happened, but the little green Jedi was able once again by the time she reached Coruscant. Sadly she couldn’t stay for long, as the Alliance requested that she and other Jedi aided in the healing of a planet.

It was a disappointing situation. After such an extended time away, she was looking forward to a few good lessons with her new padawans. But it was her duty to answer the call. She wanted to bring them along, though she had a suspicion that it would be risky for them, causing some hesitation in her decision. Especially Kyell. He was very susceptible to the dark side in his current condition. Upon arriving on the planet, she was glad about her decision.

The weight of the darkness hung heavily around it. It was saturated with destruction and corruption, challenging even her resistance to the temptation. Though she held her head high. With a simple wooden cane, Yenna disembarked from the dropship alongside her fellow Jedi near a desolate town.

"Alright, here goes,"

"Let's start in that town - see what we can find and who can still be helped. What do you think, Master Yenna?"

”Like a drink, you both need. So glum, you both sound!” She quipped as she took a swig of her flask. ”Of healing this planet, we have the honour! A very good day, this is. From the darkness, we can save it.” She commented as she walked towards the nearby town. Despite the new limp in her step, her speed wasn’t affected all that much. Though she was still slower than her two companions simply due to her stature.

She looked at the two of them. Apart from occasional greetings in the halls or lessons with younglings, she did not have the chance to get to know her fellow Masters. ”A good start, I think the town is, Master Nox.” She finally agreed, though a chuckle soon followed as she turned to her and gestured to her shoulder with her cane. ”A ride, could I perhaps hitch?” She asked with a guilty smile.

Crystal retrieval? this was going to be something way more different from what he was used to.

In most cases, Silas was down on the ground alongside Valery Noble Valery Noble and the rest of the Jedi, but this time she had tasked him to find and retrieve crystals for the order. It was a surprise at first when she assigned it to him, a punishment for the way he had been acting recently against fellow peers and the enemy. Yet, in hindsight, it was only to help him cool down from the harsh reality of combat. It was a wise choice from his master all things considered, something Silas hadn't realized yet.

Alongside him on the trip was Iris, who had also recently had her own fair share of troubles. He didn't know the full story and he doubted it was any of his business in the first place. If she wanted to tell her about it, that would be Iris's decision and hers alone. For now, the ship was pulling into the dock where they were going to be dropped off. They weren't going to stay together, but they were sure to be by each other's side if things went wrong.

"You ready Iris?" he asked over to her as he unhooked his belt and got up from his seat "It will be probably one of the few times we'll be able to openly explore a station of such significance, so I'd make it count" it was true, it wasn't every day the alliance managed to get there hands on such a thing. With a sigh, he moved to the ramp and waited for the doors to open.

"Master Valery put us here for a reason, right?"

"If any of the attendees start feeling uncomfortable or start feeling anxious, say so immediately. You're probably being influenced by a horrible evil artefact."

Aeson grunted, shifting from one boot to the other.

"I think it's just the drink friend," He ignored the raven-haired pretty boy and stepped forward. He wasn't sure why he kept getting assigned to anything that had to do with the Outer Rim. Literally anything. It seemed as if the MIssus wanted Aeson as far away from the Core as possible. To be fair to her though, he wasn't exactly a model agent. Sure he got the job done, most of the time, but Aeson was a drunk, a bit of a fool, and downright insubordinate.

But it was either this or the slammer, and with what he knew about M and the alliance would land him in the darkest cell on SunSpot prison.

“Do we have any clue where it points to?”
"With any luck, right to the heart of the Maw's operation,"

"Through the Red Honeycomb," Aeson said, his words slurring just a bit making him sound more like an adventurous sailor rather than the Agent he was supposed to be. He laid a hand on the lad's shoulder and reached out with his other as if mapping out the stars with his hand. "Past all the nasty beasties, destructive hyperstorms, and into the deepest pit of the Chaos," He paused, "That's what the Chiss call the Unknown Regions. Chaos. Apt name I think."

He stepped up to the glowing pyramid, arms folded.

"At least that's what we hope. We just need to figure out how we can get the data out and into our ships." And hope to the Stormfather that they don't need Path Engines to get there.

Gehinnom.

She had called this place home for several months as Tempest. The Council hadn't approved her for solo missions yet and still she did not have a new master. As one of the older padawans, despite her background, she was given more and more autonomy so long as one of the Council's padawans was near. But this?

She shivered as she stepped on board the station. Frozen in place she stood still as a stone as the rest of the crew assigned to this mission flowed around her. They were mostly marines set to security detail but a few black-suited SIA agents and wide-eyed mechanics had joined them as well, ready to take the station apart if they needed to find all of the secrets of Maw technology. She wondered if it was a good idea to have her this close to the SIA agents. As far as she knew, the Council was keeping her re-defection a secret.

One of the marines bumped her as he moved past holding a large plastoid container of some sort.

"Watch it, Jedi."

Jedi. That's right. She had come here for a reason. To help atone for her sins. She swallowed hard and moved forward to join SIlas and Iris, two other Padawans who had come to the station.

Iris let out a breath.

And smiled. For the first time in what felt like forever, the panic in her heart had been quelled. No, not quelled. Confronted. Beaten. The trip to Voss with Valery Noble Valery Noble had been everything she needed, and more. The weight on her shoulders, gone. Some of the weight. Her gaze shifted to the BD unit on her shoulder, her smile growing. "You ready?" Domxite nodded their head, letting out the faintest, happy trill.

"You ready Iris?"

Her gaze turned to Silas as she nodded her head. She'd never been more ready to just.. Be. Do what she always did best. "We're not here to explore. The Maw has all too many twisted machines I'd rather not see in person if I can avoid it. We'll find the crystals." That was their mission. Find the crystals, heal them. Bring them home. Most probably thought it was a weird idea to treat them like they were alive.

Iris didn't care. They were alive, in their own way.

".. Yeah. She did." Her gaze continued. Following through the colors. Thalia. She offered the other girl a brief, sad smile. She didn't like the idea of watching Thalia, even now. But she did tell Thalia if she was asked to, she would.

"You ready, Thalia?"

The wound in the Force here was palpable. Arms crossed and clad in his typical white military-cut suit Dhalinar stood behind Valery Noble, Sword of the Jedi, and watched her disembark. Somehow he felt just walking into the air of the planet would dirty his cape but he stepped out anyways, leaving his worries behind in the shuttle. His Padawan was still missing. She hadn't reached out to the Order and the Mandalorians had not given any demands. They hadn't had much time together, but he knew somehow that she still lived.

That weight needed to be dropped though, at least for now. He could already feel the Dark Side tugging and pulling on his emotions, enhancing the feeling of despair and worry while tamping down hope and inner peace. Had he been the boy he was when he first joined the ranks of the Jedi he knew that a storm would be roiling inside him. But that was the difference between a Padawan and a Master. The young ones like Dagon so often thought it was "experience". They'd fought in war so of course they knew better as a Jedi while ignoring the emotional maturity that comes with age confusing the callous, cold, calculus of war against the Dark with a true connection to their emotions. Spiritual maturity, mastery of the saber, mastery of the self, a universal empathy. These separated the Padawans from the true Knights of the Jedi Order.

At least that's what he told himself as his boot hit the dirt.

"What happened here Master Noble?"

After Ilum, Kara was glad to be on a mission that was going to be considerably more calm. Whether it was going to be less dangerous was up in the air. Sure, there was likely not going to be any Imperials trying to scalp them. But they were apparently dealing with a ‘Wound in the Force’.

It was supposedly caused by some big bad Sith, who opened the wound by sacrificing the lives of many all in one fell swoop. At least, that was how Valery had explained it. But it was a brief description, and Kara felt like something was off but didn’t push it. She was just excited to be back on a mission again.

Once she had landed, the blonde Padawan stepped down the ramp and onto the planet’s surface proper. Almost immediately, she felt a cold chill run up her spine.

Geez, is this what a Wound in the Force does?

She could feel death across the surface. Not just in the loss of life that had happened, but the decaying effect it had on the local flora too.

The Force was capable of doing this?

Alright, I hope this village is close.” Kara said, tugging on the collar of her jumpsuit. “Because the longer I’m standing here, the more chilling this feels.

With one last sigh, Kara began her trek forwards. As she walked, the Padawan pulled out her commlink and updated her fellow Jedi.

This is Padawan Jade, I’ve landed at the designated spot. Heading towards the village now.

As a group of NJO padawans exited their shuttle, the heavily armored form of Zoar walked forward, practically drooling with excitement. He was like a mechanically-gifted kid in an engineering marvel of a candy store.

If that candy store were also titanically large, monumentally spooky, and tainted with dark power.

That being said, even the Miln's fear was unable to completely eclipse his wonder at the great and terrible battlestation that was the Gehinnom II. He almost completely ignored the other padawans and Alliance personnel, his giant mech suit plodding single-mindedly towards the nearest terminal, and plugging it's scomp link in.

Their mission was to find the Kyber crystals. But jumping into such an impressive machine as this one was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

//Woa-ho-ho-hoah~...// the Miln barked out to no one in particular, as he tried to plunge his consciousness into the Gehinnom's systems through his cybernetics, and did the slicing equivalent of bonking his head on the firewall. //Gnarly encryption network... And PTP encryption? Without the codes, this could take hours to break through everything.//

Which he would have gladly done, were they not on a more important mission. The suit turned it's head around to watch the other Jedi in the area, ready to follow their lead. Looking mostly to Iris, as he knew her to be a fearless leader.

Gotto was sitting in the back of a local's speeder, hitching a ride to a nearby town. Five years trapped undergrounds hadn't been kind to his sense of direction. It was fortunate that there seemed to always be at least one person who was willing to take him where he heeded to go. Where wasn't a question. The dark nexus dug at the life force of the planet, corrupting it in ways that were hard to miss. As a lover of the natural world and defender of posterity, Gotto could not let such a wound fester.

It didn't take long for the village to come into sight. The Kage Jedi thanked the civilian, picking up his staff and hopping out of the back of the vehicle, letting his bare feet hit the soil. The dirt was dry, course... Deprived of the nutrients they would need to sustain life. The actions of a Sith had done this, a wound brought force by the sacrifice of many beings. to an extent, one could still feel the suffering they felt in their final moments. For a naturalist like Gotto, it was a difficult site. Yet, he still had a duty to fulfil. As he approached the town the rest of the way on foot, a shuttle came into view, along with a handful of individuals. They were Jedi, no doubt, though after five years of isolation he was unfamiliar with who anyone was. The Kage didn't mind this. He enjoyed meeting new people, and there was no time like the present to do just that.

"Hello there!" Gotto shouted to the party, his free left hand raised lazily. "Am I in the right place? I'm afraid I'm no good with directions."

As he approached the group, one individual stood out to him. Valery Noble, the Sword of the Jedi. Upon his return, she seemed to stand out as a notable individual, even amongst the council. Now he finally had the chance to meet the Master in the flesh.

"Gotto Sorendu, Jedi Knight," he greeted the other Jedi with a relaxed grin. "Pleasure to make your acquaintances, though its unfortunate that our meeting be in such a dire setting."

For a long moment, even as more Jedi gathered near the edge of tainted soil, Valery found herself lost in darker thoughts. Echoes of what happened here still lingered in deeper parts of her mind, threatening to resurface with the pain it had once caused both physically and mentally. But the sound of a voice helped her snap out of it and drew her fiery eyes to the small, green Jedi Master who tried her best to keep the mood bright.

"I have some... history with this planet," she said to explain her somber mood. But quickly enough, another approached to ask more about what happened here, finally forcing her to bring back everything she had buried away.

"Master Greystar," she said with a respectful dip of her head, "Quite a long time ago, I came here to stop a ritual but I was caught in a trap set up by Darth Carnifex Darth Carnifex . While some civilians and I were rescued by SIA agents, many of them were killed very abruptly in the ritual, which created this void you feel." She paused as Gotto Sorendu Gotto Sorendu joined them, and nodded to tell him he was in the right place.

"There should be one Ghost town at the center of it all, which is where it happened. That's where I'll be going to start something larger that can help cleanse this place. But there are other towns, and people in need of help as well. Wherever you go, Jedi help is needed but be careful — a Wound in the Force weakens your ability to tap into the Force, and it can... change those who can't shield themselves."

With that warning given, Valery flashed a faint and somber smile before she stepped into the corrupted lands and began to move towards the center, towards where she had been captured and tortured, and towards where so many had lost their lives.

Since she was now Yenna’s Padawan, Miri found herself dragged along on a mission to Janara III. The planet had a wound in the Force, and they were going to heal it.

Beyond that, Miri was thrown into things largely blind. She didn’t recognize any of the other Jedi accompanying them, nor was she familiar with the world. Sticking close to her master, she tried to stay focused on their objective—but Yenna, as usual, was not taking things very seriously.

The little green gobliness was hobbling along, drinking from her flask. She turned to them and tapped her shoulder with her cane, asking for a ride. Miri glanced uncertainly at the others, not sure who she wanted to hitch a ride on.

Please don’t let it be me…
