Lightsaber, Refuge
"You lie," she murmured, very obviously disappointed, "Isn't that against Jedi code or something?"

"Lie? About... him being my son?" Jasper frowned. "No, it's the truth. What are you... what are you using to come to that conclusion?"

Jasper let out a sigh, rubbing his chin. He hadn't been alarmed by her burst of speed to approach him. His instincts were well prepared for that.

"I don't look like him because we aren't blood related, if that's what you mean," he explained. "But he's still my son. I have a daughter too that isn't of my own blood. It's like, y'know, how Mandalorians take in foundlings. I am speaking the truth. Of that I can assure you."

"This is a waste of time," a certain disdain plastered across his features, seeing this Sith before them. Disgusting, vile creatures able to only bring about trickery and deceit. "I won't make deals with a Sith, be you the worm's, Solipsis' or otherwise."

He gripped the hilt of the virbosword fastened to his back, not yet unsheathing it. "Tell us where the boy is, or you're of no use to us."

"Looks like a communicator... I'm gonna see if there's anything else stored on here."
There was in fact more stuff on the odd communicator like device.

There was a plethora of images, some of them featured a young one, ( Leos Leos ) and there was a singular, obscured image of an injured individual, Okuma Milogen Okuma Milogen , there were a few pictures of Zee Caromed Zee Caromed where there were some pod racers. The most newest images featured Leos Leos and various snap shots of odd looking light saber components.

It would seem the application with locations was coming up with minor errors in updating information and trying again every ten minutes. There was a silent little buzz from the device as the newest location popped up with coordinates for The Sable Verge.

Among other things saved to device was a plethora of newly saved information titled: Study of the Blade

Scherezade blinked once at Jasper's explanation, then let out a sharp, musical laugh that echoed strangely through the ruins. "Oh. Found family," she purred, as if tasting the words on her tongue. She could smell the blood, but adopting someone into the family was something that bypassed that. There was no blood shared between her sister and the Wolf Queen either, but they were chosen sisters nonetheless.

But he said something else. Something dangerous. And that something was the word Mandalorian. There was a blood feud between the Mando clans and the deWinter family, though she doubted he was old enough to know so, even if he seemed old to the Sithling. Still, they were well past the days where merely hearing the name would send her into a blind rage attack. She was maintaining self-control. For now.

The pebble she'd been toying with zipped away, pinging against a cracked pillar before bouncing back into her palm. With a casual flick, she unwrapped the protein bar Jasper had produced without ever touching it, sending the wrapper fluttering to the floor. She held the bar aloft in the air between them, turning it slowly, lazily, in orbit around his head.

And then Rhyse Calder Rhyse Calder spoke.

Her gaze snapped to him, glowing green eyes flashing as if the shadows in the corners of the library had deepened just a little more. She tilted her head, studying him like a curious child inspecting a bug she might pluck the legs off of. She didn't even want to take his scent.

"Ohhh," she drawled, voice lilting with amusement, "one of those. The ones who shout 'Sith!' and reach for their toys before their brains catch up."

What a silly little boy. He voiced his disdain for the Sith and stated he refused to deal with them, and demanded they deal with her. Most Jedi she had come across weren't great about manners, or maintaining inner logic. Guess that one was no different.

She returned her focus to Jasper, seeing the others remained still in the time that had elapsed.

"Looks like your underlings disagree with you," she pointed out, her tone light, almost cheerful. She'd absolutely taken a wild guess about the hierarchy between the people in front of her. She hoped that unlike with the adoption thing, she was actually right this time, "do you want to take ten to talk it out amongst you and let me know what you decide?"

Now there was the boy thing to consider. She wouldn't be able to use the blood, but it didn't meant she had nothing in her backpack that could be of help. "If the little one starts waving his laser sword or steel I'm going to lose interest. I know things. You want things. That means, for now, I'm more useful than the rest of you put together."

Before they had a moment to actually respond to that, she grabbed the granola bar out of the air with her hand, took a bite, and gave it a few chews.

"It's kind of dry," she admitted, "anyone have some water?"

Saram's Equipment

“They’re looking for Braze I presume. As for if they should be there my answer would be no, they have a war to fight.”

Saram sighed. That left more questions than it answered. Why look for Braze when the order had enough shabla problems was another question entirely. Not to mention, as Okuma just had, there was a war on. One the Alliance wasn't doing all too well in. Word was that the Jetii head, the grandmaster, or whatever the shab they called themselves had left. Doing who the shab knows what, and frankly, she didn't shabla care. Something didn't add up here. Was Braze not telling her something?

“Thank you for bringing this to the attention of us here onboard the Mud Duck. We’ll be taking this new information into consideration.”

That was...an odd way of signing off. Compartmentalization of information perhaps? That was the only explanation that made any sense to her in any event. Information was what she needed, however, and it was the one commodity that she was particularly short on. Maybe it was time to have a pointed conversation with those Jetii about what the shab they were doing here. First, however, there was the small matter of running a public records search on these Jetii, see if there was anything that she could turn up. She was aware that there were a number of bounties on Jedi, but none of that would help the situation at the moment.

Saram did a quick public records search on those Jetii her beskar'gam's systems had managed to identify. At first, nothing of particular note to her came up till she found adoption records with one particular Jetii's name; Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el . Well, shab, this complicated things. What was his buir doing with a team of Jedi? The more she thought about it, she couldn't help but come to the conclusion that this man was Braze's Jetii trainer, his Jetii master, or whatever they called it. The real question however, was he here as Braze's buir or Braze's Jetii master.

Saram used the gunship's various optical systems to get a better look at the Jedi and saw something that she'd seen Braze use before. What would a Jetii want with a makeup mirror? Was he just cherishing old memories? Not likely with a potential threat him and his standing so close by. Saram checked her gunship's comm readout. The device in Braze's buir's hands was receiving comm waves, powerful ones too from the looks of things. Saram could recognize a tracking beacon when she saw one. She was going to have a long talk to Braze about leaving things with tracking signals on them lying around.

She didn't know what his buir wanted to talk to him about, but if he was bringing a shabla Jetii strike team with him it couldn't be good. Thebbr]n again, she couldn't exactly turn the ship's guns on them and call it day. Saram jogged back into the gunship's troop bay, activating her beskar'gam's active camouflage as she did so, bending light, sound and electromagnetic waves around her equipment and herself. As she entered the troop bay, she dropped her AMR's currently loaded magazine and reached for one she had loaded with EMP rounds. She didn't want to hurt Braze's buir, but she had to do something.

Saram hit the switch for the gunship's ramp release and stepped outside. A quick activation of her stealthy rocket repulsor pack and she was on top of her gunship. Not the worst perch to be shooting from, especially because she didn't have to worry about being seen with her active camouflage. She smart linked her rifle's optic to her HUD, essentially turning it into an external sensor pod. She increased the magnification, locking the little device in the hands of Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el with a single guided EMP round before squeezing the trigger in between breaths. A decade of service and training, augments and the technology in her rifle and armor kept it steady as her rifle discharged with a barely audible cough in her hands.

Jand had tired of the dark sider. The Jedi had been respectful, they had offered opportunity to leave her be, and had asked for information.

Information she withheld, to play games.

"Enough," Jand said simply, as he looked to Jasper. Master or no, Jand understood that time was of the essence, and his friend couldn't afford to lose Braze to stalling. "We waste no more time here."

When Rhyse seemed more inclined to aggressive negotiations, Jand stepped over and held out a hand.

"Leave or do not," Jand said again, as he looked to the humanoid female. "How you react to our departure determines your fate."

As a point of fact, the Nagai pulled the wooden handle of a sword from his thigh strap. There was no blade, but the implement looked suited to that task. With a sigh, Jand began to walk--

!!

--and the Force rippled, as some unseen danger was felt by the Nagai warrior. It wasn't from the Sith but from somewhere distant.

Hidden.

"We are being watched."

From the handle in his hand, Jand depressed a concealed button, and a metallic blade unfolded to reveal itself. Jand turned to the Sith, his grey eyes narrowed, his voice low:

"If you or your companions seek to attack us, I warn you not to underestimate our capabilities. Call them off before lines are crossed."

It took all of Jand's willpower to not attack; he cared little for killing or death, it did not affect him like others in the galaxy, he was Nagai.

But he had made a promise to his master, to offer peace first.

That time had passed.

The Sith had maintained a sense of importance since sauntering into view, and continued to present herself as the one in charge, but that perception was soon to be tested by humility if aggression was to follow. Jand glanced to Rhyse and Kellan and then to Jasper. He believed they understood the situation and the knife edge it was now on...
