STRENGTHS
  • Sith Training: Each member of the Cognus Legion receives personal, specialized training at the hands of Darth Abaddon and his Sith Overseers at his domicile of Valkholm upon Dromund Kaas. This training is conducted in the same manner that Sith Warriors, Sith Inquisitors, and Sith Assassins are trained at the academy, and is intended to beat persistence, adaptation, loyalty, wrath, secrecy, and ambition into the soldiers until they emerge as vicious, shadowed warriors who are prepared to do what is necessary for Darth Abaddon and the Empire's further success.
  • Specialized Shock-Infiltration Legion: While the Cognus Legion has been trained for an array of situations that call for adaptation and versatility, they are, all in all, intended for extreme CQC heavy and environmentally hazardous missions. In other words, the Cognus Legion has been conditioned and specialized to drop upon the enemy like a burning hammer and drive them into their graves without remorse or hesitation before slinking back into the shadows. This gives them the advantage of surprise attacks, capable of catching their opponents off guard with sudden, furious charges and breaches before they can prepare for the onslaught.
WEAKNESSES
  • No Vehicles: Not possessing a single, solitary vehicle that is not gifted by the Empire at large gives the Cognus Legion a distinct disadvantage in larger-scale combat. While they do possess some heavy weaponry for such combat, the lack of vehicles means they have limited capabilities against tanks, starfighters, walkers, and the like, and its deployed forces will usually suffer casualties if forced to engage such foes without backup.
  • Without Backup/Heavy Casualties: As the first on the battlefield and the last to leave, alongside their style of combat which grants them no backup until the end of a battle (this itself is not assured), the deployed forces of the Cognus Legion often suffer more casualties than others, although their acknowledgment of this fact is little to none. This perceived disregard for not only their lives but the lives of their fellow legions can lead to some interpersonal conflict on the battlefield and at home. Additionally, as a result of their casualty rate and combat style, the Cognus Legion is forced to be deployed at a lower rate than other legions and thus see less action. At most, two battalions will be deployed to avoid the complete annihilation of their forces.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
When Kascalion Giedfield became Darth Abaddon, Pyramid of Scientific Advancement, he was granted many privileges most Sith do not hold, one of the most notable being the ruling of his own personalized Imperial Legion of 5,000 men and women loyal to the Empire. At first, the Devil Lion ignored this privilege as best he could, likely due to his abhorrence towards ruling anything of the sort, which itself could possibly be a result of his great internal conflict.

However, after a series of dramatic introspective revelations, and upon the onset of the Sith Civil War, Abaddon changed his opinion and chose to create his own military force. Thus came the Cognus Legion, so named after the ancient Sith Lord known for her impeccable ability to predict and shape the future, as well her skills as a hunter. As such, the Cognus Legion, initially numbering only one-thousand men and women personally chosen by Abaddon, were geared towards such tasks, although they were mostly assigned to known traitors to the Empire as the Sith Civil War began to burst into full-scale war.

Before long, once the entirety of the Imperial Forces had recovered from the splintering, the Cognus Legion quickly rose to five-thousand legionnaires trained extensively in the ways of the Sith, Knights and Inquisitors alike. By the end of their training, each soldier is conditioned for shock and awe, stealth and dagger, frontline and shield.

Equipped with uniquely customized gear and powerful weapons, the Cognus Legion was at first unleashed on small-name traitors to test their abilities and efficiency against Apostate Sith and their allies. While casualties were expected and indeed suffered, the soldiers of the Cognus Legion always returned, stronger than before and with more drive and ambition. Now, as the leaders of both Loyalists and Apostate draw closer to combat, the Cognus Legion awaits their orders, ready to strike from the shadows, the frontlines, and anything in between.
