CAPTAIN CHARLES
MIN Stryker | Mahporeem

Private Development Thread | Captain Charles

The message from Mahporeem could not have come at a worse moment.

“Mahporeem to MIN Stryker, we have ships on the way to Doan. Watch for their arrival.”

Charles sighed. Seriously? As he was well on the way there. He made some quick calculations. If Mahporeem was heading to Doan in force there was no need for Vulke and his little reconnaissance mission. His cruiser would be better off exploring other sectors of space. And so with a slight annoyance Charles ordered the ship out of hyperspace and turned right around to head back to Mahporeem.

The crew was briefed en route back, his officers given their orders. Despite some confusion on the abrupt change of plans the crew was ready to go. If Charles could find another map of course.

Charles had practically run off the ship the moment it landed and made a bee line right for the Cartographer’s shop. He left behind a whirl wind of orders resupply, R&R for the crew, Vulke to be safely escorted off the ship.

He made sure to apologize to Vulke before he left. Giving her a brief explanation. Vulke took it with the composure Charles had now come to expect. He always suspected she had deeper plans.

As he entered the shop a familiar voice asked.

“Back so soon?”

“Change in plans, I’m not sure if you heard but Mahporeem is heading to Doan in force. I thought it would be better for me to explore elsewhere while they do their business.”

“Ah, I did notice more activity around the space port than usual.” Responded the Cartographer. “Well makes no difference to me.”

“I’ll get straight to the point. Do you know of any planets in the Deep Outer Rim worth checking out?”

“Hmm, let me think about it for a second.” came the thoughtful response. The Cartographer turned and activated his display table. He zoomed in on a section at the very edge of the galaxy.

“There is a planet out here that is rumored to be the jewel of the Deep Outer Rim but almost nobody has heard about it. Almost more of a myth really.”

“Go on, I’m interested.” said Charles now leaning in slightly.

“A former Imperial stronghold built on a beauty of a planet. Its surface green, water clear as glass, and plains stretching for miles. It stopped appearing on maps for a long time but.” He paused digging through a box at the back of his shop.

“My grandfather gave me this.” He handed Charles a dusty data pad. “Its been passed down through the family for generations. Don’t ask me why, but I found the planet when I last looked though it. Caught my eye because it was not on any of the maps I had seen until that point.”

Charles cautiously opened up the data pad. There it was Castillon, not much on the description besides what the Cartographer already mentioned. Something just felt right. He decided to take a gamble.

“My friend, I think you just found me a new adventure!” exclaimed Charles.

“Hmph, well don’t be disappointed when there is nothing there son. For all I know this planet is centuries gone.”

“Perhaps so.” replied Charles “But if not, let’s just say I will be a very fortunate man.” And with that he turned and headed back towards the MIN Stryker.
