Character Creation: New Hybrid Species Rule

http://starwarsrp.net/page/articles.html/_/role-play-rules/character-creation-r12

CREATING YOUR CHARACTER
  • If your character's species is a hybrid of 3 or more species, you must first submit this new "hybrid species" to the Species Creation Codex.
  • Your character is not God, he is not immortal and he is not invincible.
  • Non-Force User characters may not start with the ability to wield a lightsaber.
  • Your character profile sheet does not require approval.
Changes are in orange.

This rule is retroactive.

This rule is effective immediately.

I just don't understand the non force user lightsaber rule. I mean, flooding the forum with lightsabers isn't necessarily a good thing, but if there is an obvious and compelling reason why someone would be capable of lightsaber combat why is it barred with the pre requisite of being a force user. (I understand that lightsabers are a brutally difficult weapon to wield without harming oneself more than doing good and that force users are generally the only ones capable of such mastery without extensive training; however, there are certain fringe cases where pre-existing species would be more than capable of wielding a lightsaber yet have literally no force capability.)

Much for the same reason why force users all start out as a padawan/apprentice. That being said, simply make a thread with of trying out a light saber and you're good. You don't need to spend a month learning how to use one.

[member="MarikWinters"] That's an old standing rule, not new. Also, it's barring NFU's from STARTING with a lightsaber proficiency. An NFU can learn, and it isn't Force User exclusive.

It's kinda like the Force Tier system, you have to start out as a Padawan before you can start chucking x-wings at people, only its this case its a NFU learning how not to chop your head off with a plasma blade.

Athena as the goddess of philosophy became an aspect of the cult in Classical Greece during the late 5th century BC.[24] She is the patroness of various crafts, especially of weaving, as Athena Ergane, and was honored as such at festivals such as Chalceia. The metalwork of weapons also fell under her patronage. She led battles (Athena Promachos or the warrior maiden Athena Parthenos)[25] as the disciplined, strategic side of war, in contrast to her brother Ares, the patron of violence, bloodlust and slaughter—"the raw force of war".[26] Athena is the goddess of knowledge, purity, arts, crafts, learning, justice and wisdom. She represents intelligence, humility, consciousness, cosmic knowledge, creativity, education, enlightenment, the arts, eloquence and power. She stands for Truth, Justice, and Moral values. She plays a tough, clever and independent role. Not only was this version of Athena the opposite of Ares in combat, it was also the polar opposite of the serene earth goddess version of the deity, Athena Polias.[25]

Makes a lot of sense! Though I'm a tad skeptical about that old Non-Force Users can't use Lightsabers rule. Characters with no force ability and formal training have managed to wield them alright. Like everyone's favorite Mandalorian, for example.

Just my opinion! I can see the reasoning for it, I suppose, but the thought has crossed my mind.

This thread has nothing to do with that rule other than the fact that the rule you are referencing is positioned underneath in the example shown in the original post.
