His Father disappeared a year into his life, leaving Starlin behind in the care of one

of Mercuitie, and in doing so Caspian's already small pool of support shrank considerably. The only one of the quads who would even really interact with him was Julian, and even then as the boys grew their time together became more and more secretive as their sisters drove wedge after wedge between them.

He was a very sickly young boy, cursed in more ways than one and bearing the weight of all their parent's wrongdoings on his tiny shoulders. They discovered his hunger when Caspian was just four years old and his anger first peaked. He was so enraged, in that way young children could become when they had not yet learned to regulate their emotions, that he bit his caretaker and drew more than just a little blood. By the time his mother had pulled him from her arm the woman required cybernetic implants to retain its functionality, and in the aftermath very few of the servants his mother hired would come near him.
His was a self-fulling, vicious cycle that was largely out of his control. He would do something strange, or wrong, or twisted, and it would drive those around him further from him, which would cause his emotions to spike until he acted out once more. In the end, Caspian had a very isolated, very lonely upbringing, until even Marcus and Julian would barely see fit to interact with him.
During his Father's few visits, where he would pop in and out of existence as though he had never been gone, only to disappear without a trace just as quickly, Caspian would see a warmer side to his otherwise distant and abusive Mother who chose alcohol over parenting. It seemed directed solely at his Father and their other children, though, with Caspian on the fringes of his Mother's love even so. His Father, however, adored him; his love was the only unconditional one he knew, but it was too sporadic, and Caspian was too resentful of him to ever embrace it fully. Why fall to the temptation of warmth and care when it would be pulled out from under him the moment the man vanished again?
It all reached its climax when Eloise broke free from the grip of the Dinn family, forsaking their perverse upbringing and fleeing Zaathru in search of a better life. He might have expected things to improve after that, after all Persephone and Altrea had mostly parroted her hate, but the damage had already been done and some rifts were too great to ever truly mend. Instead Caspian was left feeling like even more of a reject, an unlovable monster born only to bring about the ruin and downfall of their once great house. Cracks had formed and split, all spanning from the moment of his birth, and try as he might he could never quite push past that.
Ultimately, with his family already scattered and torn, Caspian raided his Father's collection of well-earned artifacts and broke away from Zaathru on his meditation sphere Beholder, though instead of pursuing the light of the thousands of suns the Galaxy had to offer like his sister his path remained one of darkness and ever-persistent hunger.
