Mira had her back turned – but her focus was there.
She sensed the incoming onslaught but apparently the monstrosity was a bit faster than she anticipated. As she spun around to her left, pivoting on the balls of her feet – Yinep would pass by her and the knife he was intent on impaling her with would graze the side of her armor. Mira hissed more out of aggression than actual pain as the man – no, creature passed by her. With a quick horizontal slash, her right hand extending as she completed her spin, the head of Yinep would be lopped clean off his shoulders and his body would tumble lifelessly into the stone pillar a meter behind them. Mira took a moment to re-position herself, turning to face [member="Soeht"] and the forsaken ritual occurring before her.
It was bad enough that life was caving in all around her emotionally – now to bear witness to the rebirth of a monstrosity like Vornskr, was just too much. Mira could feel the energy radiating through the air, a thick, choking energy that was neither wanted nor welcoming. Despite her overwhelming urge to engage and defeat Soeht, there was the mission at hand – and overdue compensation for the loss of her left eye. Mira disengaged her sabers – clipping them to her sides quickly. There wasn’t much time, as it was with all things. Action was required, so action would be taken.
She would close her eyes and concentrate, feel the moment and the Force around her. She would pull the traces of Light from the ebbs of dark flowing around her, threatening to snuff out her very essence. Her hands rose up from her sides as she saw the very faint traces of stone and chipped earth in the shape of the pillars and columns. Her breathing would become more balanced and focused as outstretched hands clenched into fists. The rumbling sounds of the earth would begin to erupt around the area, small cracks would appear at the base of the structures. The reverberation of rocks tumbling to the ground and shattering into pieces filled the air over the sound of the chanting. A new sensation would begin to settle in with the joy that the acolytes held for the sight of Vornskr’s rebirth. Teeth would clench, jaw muscles would tighten and heels would dig in.
If she could not stop it, then she would delay it by all means possible and give Gabriel more time – if there was such a thing. She knew the cost and the death of the acolytes would pale in comparison to the travesties that Vornskr could unleash upon the Galaxy – yet again. The notion drove her towards that line, further away from everything she fought so hard to keep. Everything her mother engrained in her mind during her training as a Padawan. Everything that Aaralyn would have wanted to see her keep regardless of all the temptations in the Galaxy.
She had to try, even if it meant sacrificing a little bit more of herself.
