Faction Calling All Jedi - A Shared History (Open to All Jedi)

Dyke-Marsh.jpg

There had been a lot of in-fighting with the Jedi Order of the Galaxy of late, and Coren Starchaser, the self-declared Unifier of the Jedi had been at point, a part of it, but also was going to stand his ground on the Anti-Sith stance that was solidly his approach to the dark side. But one thing he wanted, was to show the Jedi what they had come from, and what they had been in times of strife past. The Starchaser, a renowned crusader had taken his losses in the past to awaken his need for the knowledge of the past.

And that was why he was here. His freighter had landed on Tython, and the invitation had gone out to other Jedi, all who were willing to take on some… less than typical training. A thought exercise, a history lesson. A student of many different schools of the Force, Coren was guilty of picking and choosing that which he used in his own paradigm. However, through a few processes, he knew of many different skills, and one in particular he was calling on today.

Word had gone out to the Silvers, the New Jedi Order, and all of those in between, a history lesson, a guided meditation was going to occur on Tython. The world itself had a strong connection to the Force and was the site of the original Jedi Order, following the work done on Ahch-To.

The landing zone was set as was the classroom, that which it was. Coren had pulled one of the head Masters of Kattada to come with him to serve as an anchor and eyes and ears. Flow-walking was not something to be taken lightly, and in order to assist, Coren had set up a ring of kyber crystals, ones that would resonate with the Light Side, to keep the Jedi grounded and together.

As Jedi arrived, Coren would greet them, looking very much the role of a Jedi Master today, he would greet the beings who arrived at the small estuary. He chose this location as it was one of those areas of birth, many creatures used estuaries to house their young.

“I know that the Jedi Order has been having trouble seeing eye to eye as of late. There have been some issues with the Jedi and their host nations, and I, regrettably have been partly to blame. But I thank you for attending this lesson. As you may know, I have traveled far and wide to the galaxy, learning of the Force, and of the Jedi. Today, I’d like to show you some of what I have learned, of what unifies us. When you are ready, please join me in the kyber circle I’ve laid out.”

With that, the Jedi Master stepped up to the circle, exuding calm, as his sand cat, Navi, circled his feet. Finding himself sitting in a cross-legged pose, he waited for the others to join him.

He'd heard Starchaser's calls before. Most Jedi had. His name carried an immense weight in the Order. Thraz had been too deep in his studies to answer any calls that came before, but this one intrigued him. Thraz had been itching for some time to return to Tython. Such history was there to be found, and a history lesson was being taught by one of the galaxy's premier Jedi. It was hardly a trip he could avoid to miss.

As his shuttle set down not far from Starchaser's freighter, he felt a wave of serene energy pass over him. Just as he had remembered feeling the first time he'd been brought here. Along with a few other padawans who had decided to make this trip, he stepped onto the soft, grassy ground and looked out across the water.

He approached the circle of kyber crystal, passing through their resonant energy that gave a faint hum in the force, and sat down at the behest of Master Starchaser. He sat with cross-legged posture and closed his eyes, trying to focus on the running water of the nearby river rather than the sounds of the more energetic padawans arriving behind him.

Be careful what you wish for.

The site in question was not far from Kalikori village, this was a Twi’Lek colony that originally settled on the planet unlawfully in regards to Old Republic Law. Caltin, in his time, frequented the planet a lot as he was very much a student of history. The massive Jedi Master made a purpose to always stop by and visit them, not just to see their achievements but to really just see how they were doing as a whole.

Have you been to Tython?

Caltin’s question was a simple one, simple enough. She had been to a lot of places, but not everyone had. It was a trip that he knew his Padawan would enjoy either way. This whole “invitation” was a trip that the big guy wanted to make, mainly out of the fact that he found it “cute” that he was about to get a history lesson. Maybe there was something that the former Grandmaster of the Silvers was going to tell them about that happened in the time that the big guy was on-ice. Upon the “Starlight Sentinel”’s landing, Caltin left his robe, the frelling thing itched, and just grabbed “Conservator”, his lightsaber as well as his pack. Once Desbre was ready, they were off.

I love this place. I remember when we rebuilt that overlook right there.

Walking through the pathways he reminisced and told her stories of days past of how a team of Jedi helped restore the planet to a level of beauty it had not seen in a long time. Sure many of the places had been horribly weathered and father time was not kind to many of them but it was still a great experience. Walking to within eyesight of the old Temple grounds and past Kalikori village brought a lot of memories back to the Jedi and he actually exhibited a true smile. Caltin always enjoyed this planet, for the history, the sites, all of it. Sure, he was here for another reason but this was definitely turning out to be a good idea, if only for his sinuses. They were still congested from Ilum.

Right there is where we actually had a lot of swimming contests.

He really felt like he was visiting an old friend, and enjoyed telling Desbre the details of each story to the point where he hadn’t noticed that they were there. In fact, the duo were only steps from the actual Kyber circle. Stepping in and taking a seat he nodded to all that was already there.

Greetings. Master Vanagor and Desbre Gensan.

No, he did not tell them that she was a Padawan, that was her business, the big guy only used his honorific because he was of the old ways.

After all the times she had declined to become a Jedi; all the times she simply walked away from them without a word, the woman had finally given in. An offering was extended to her, a Master by the name of Starchaser had extended an open lesson to teach some of the things the traveling Jedi had learned. While she still did not see herself as a Jedi, Nik was still under Jedi jurisdiction. It was their hope that something Coren Starchaser Coren Starchaser had to offer would click within her, and bring her closer to the Light of the Force.

Tython was admittedly a beautiful planet, the green was as far as the eye could see with nothing but beautiful skies. Vastly different in scenery compared to the likes of Dromunnd Kass. The man spoke to those before him, including her, something about his voice eased her tension as she stood among those who did call themselves Defenders of the Light. She smirked, she liked the sound of that. Given their first command, the Jedi (and her) stepped within the circle of Kyber.

It did just strike her, the Jedi were having some issues with certain planets, and the way things were being handle. It was a problem she did not see within the Sith, at least not without violence being used. For her, it was odd to see people bicker without being choked to death through the Force, to see people sigh; laugh, shake hands, and leave on good terms, or at the very least okay terms. It made her nervous, anxiety would hit her like a boulder falling on her chest.

If she tried hard enough, she could feel the tug of gentle Light surrounding her. Without knowing, a soft smile appeared on her face.

Have you been to Tython?

Desbre shook her head as she took in the sights. Her lenses had been situatated over her gaze, filtering the more intense solar radiation to something more manageable for her Arkanian eyes. Ilum had been comfortable. Well, somewhat. This was warmer and more than she really wanted to deal with. But like most Jedi attire, it was reactive to the wearer and environment, keeping her cooler. "No. I hadn't even heard of it until I started doing some research,, but as soon as I did I knew I would have to come here eventually."

"I love this place. I remember when we rebuilt that overlook right there."

"Right there is where we actually had a lot of swimming contests."

He really felt like he was visiting an old friend, and enjoyed telling Desbre the details of each story to the point where he hadn’t noticed that they were there. In fact, the duo were only steps from the actual Kyber circle. Stepping in and taking a seat he nodded to all that was already there.

"Greetings. Master Vanagor and Desbre Gensan."

It was good to see the big guy with less of a burden on his shoulders. That alone helped. She listened to the stories he told of centuries gone by and while she'd never been one for small talk, this was no such thing. There were a lot of really good memories for him. That alone was worth the trip, she supposed. Some day she would have more of her own. Or so she hoped.

The young Arkanian let him chatter on, occasionally asking a question, if nothing else just keeping him going, but without interrupting. Until they were almost to the circle from the short hike. Following him in, she assumed the seat next to him with nary a word. It seemed some energy had returend to her, though for now she was reserved in her demeanor. This was new territory, and she'd never been to such a congregation. Part of her wondered if this wasn't a vulnerable tactical position. How easy would it be for a capital ship to pop into orbit and drop a torpedo strike that would slag the area for a solid kilometer radius? Then again, this was a gathering of Jedi. They would likely sense the attack long before it happened. And this was Tython. If it were a mistake to attack Jedi anywhere it would be here.

Putting the thought out of her mind she folded her hands in her lap, leaving the hood of her snowy cloak and cowl up, shielding her face from the bright light. Even sitting there, she could feel a hum in the air, and through the Force. One way or another today would be a day of days.

Alpha-Zed streamed coreward, it wasn't a long trip from Coruscant to Tython, but Cassus nevertheless took the care necessary when traveling into the deep core. When they dropped out of hyperspace and floated in the outer spheres of the planet, Cassus calculating their descent, Persephone was taken with the wonderful green-blue hues of the globe, white clouds swirling about. A gentle hum in the Force reached out to her from it and surprisingly didn't overwhelm her.

Onward and downward they descended towards the surface, a canopy of trees and breaches of watered basins divided most of what she could discern from above, sitting in the passenger seat behind her keeper. Cassus circled a landing zone once before setting the starship down. Persephone unbuckled herself and went to fetch something to cover the simple silk dress she wore. She went to the little coat hanger cabinet near the landing ramp of the ship and felt the soft zephyr come in through its opening gape as it descended. She had, to the vexation of the ships' owner, Cassus, flooded his previously sparse closet with all of her spare robes and jackets.

She resolved on a pale pink hooded chiffon cape. Med, the Medical droid that shadowed her every footstep, shook his mechanical head disapprovingly, suggesting she wear something warmer as he took her vitals. But she was 16, and there was little hope in influencing her decisions at this point in her life.

The trio soon exited the ship and made their way towards the clearing where things had been set up. Persephone was thoroughly enamored with all the green and nature around her. Growing up on Coruscant one didn't encounter anything like this, even at Trophill Gardens. Nevertheless, the native fauna, which seemed charming to Cassus, terrified Persephone as she quickly rushed behind him on the opposite side of the trail any time the grass shook or leaves crunched, or something appeared no matter how small and harmless it seemed.

"Forever a city girl, I suspect." Med chimed in as Cassus rolled his eyes.

Looking around here on the short hike between where they landed and where they were set to meet this Jedi Master who she had only known in the way anyone knew of a famous Jedi Master, they passed beaches, flowing grasses, marshes, creeks and streams. She could tell Cassus was nervous about bringing her, but he was instructed to do so by the Masters, which Cassus dared not question. Persephone was nervous too, she didn't blame him. But she was surprisingly calm today.

As they drew closer they could see several padawans had already began to assemble before a man she suspected was Master Starchaser. Persephone felt a pang of anxiety to be around strangers, but looked up at Cassus who towered beside her and was reassured by the sparkle in his eyes. Maybe for once she could have a good experience?

Phalsi was here on the heels of her master. She hadn't thought to come here for a lesson, but then again Starchaser had a funny idea about the force and learning from it. She appeared as he moved on, her quiet presence never terrifically far away it seemed as she moved inside the kyber circle. There was little thought given to questioning the circle. Save for the fact that she stopped once inside, moved away from where everyone would be gathering to poke and prod at the edge of the ring.

There were no words from her, a curious head tilt as she poked a particular crystal once, then twice after a long moment before frowning and moving to stand near Coren Starchaser Coren Starchaser . She shared nothing, keeping her thoughts to herself as she felt the presence of the light around her. She stood somewhere in the gray among the jedi, her own presence hard to measure at first until she stood inside the circle.

She was clearly marked out in presence inside the circle now, her seemingly formless disposition given form against the stark lightside that surrounded them all. If this was a masters only event, Phalsi had clearly ignored the words on the invite.

Coren Starchaser Coren Starchaser

Dair was staunchly of the opinion that no one knew everything, and always considered himself a student. When the call had gone out from Coren Starchaser Coren Starchaser for an unusual sort of lesson, Dair's curiosity had been piqued. The space near Tython was soon split by Dair's Starlit Hope coming out of hyperspace and angling to follow Coren's freighter down to the planet. Dair gave a clearance of several hundred meters between his ship and any others on the ground. Dair was in his traditional robes of white and tan, with his lightsaber hanging from his belt.

When he arrived at the circle, he found the other Jedi Master seated, Dair offered a silent nod, and sat roughly a quarter of the way around the circle from Coren. He folded his hands into his lap and watched the world around them as he thought.

The planet around them had come under fire many times in the decades of Dair's life. At one point it had been entirely devastated by the Sith, the air having been scorched to a harshness that required anyone on the surface to wear supplemental air. Long years of dedicated healing by masters of planet, plant, and animals had been required to begin bringing the planet back to life. That had been some decades ago, and this was the first time since then that Dair had visited the planet. The message in that was quite powerful for Dair.

No matter what evil befell the galaxy, the Light would always remain and bring the balance of Life back.

"Time to ruin the party, right Chief?"

An X-Wing descended towards the planet's surface as the others slowly gathered. Rather than travel to one of the nearby ports or landing zones, Ryv Karis opted for a more direct approach. It wasn't uncommon. Truthfully, he expected others to similarly plant their ships adjacent to the agreed-upon meeting area. This also allowed him to avoid the usual crowd whenever he traveled to Tython. His work and place within the Core this past half a decade netted him a bit of fame on the planet. Add that to his former master's place within the Ashlan Order; the Jedi Knight rarely could enjoy what the planet had to offer.

This trip wasn't about responsibilities to his Order or the strain of being a Jedi Knight. He just wanted to make use of his free time and show some support for Coren.

A small droid beeped up at the Jedi Knight as he carefully guided the starfighter to the ground. Ryv looked down at his BD unit and perked a brow.

"What do you mean I'm not allowed to cause trouble?" he released the sticks and cracked open the cockpit. The droid remained on his lap and danced around in a circle, aggressively beeping at the kiffar the entire time. "Look, Chieftain, I'm just here to help out and maybe meet some new Jedi. After a while, it gets old saying goodbye to the ones you know. Time to change up the story, alright?"

The Chieftain paused, nodded once, and hopped aside. Ryv winked while climbing out of the cockpit. He dropped down, knees bent as he made contact with the verdant grass beneath his feet, and straightened. He looked back up at the small droid and smiled.

"Make sure nothing crawls inside while I'm gone, little dude," he turned away from his fighter and waltzed off towards the kyber circle. He slipped his hands into his jacket and eyed the crowd as he grew closer. Aside from Starchaser, Ryv wasn't familiar with any of the gathered Jedi. He furrowed his brow and sighed weakly. "Gotta be Silvers. Dammit, Starchaser, why do you gotta do this to me every time you host a party?"

He said nothing as he crossed the crystal circle, opting for a quick nod to anyone who looked his way. Though he knew nothing of the Silvers, he wagered at least one of them could place him. And in the chaotic state of the galaxy, being the Sword of the Jedi often meant being on the front line of battle. Peace was a life he'd never know. Some took advantage of that fact. Those who aimed him at their enemy and fired without remorse, treating Ryv and his allies as nothing more than a tool for warring nations. Others berated the kiffar and his kinfolk. What kind of Jedi Order fought side-by-side with Imperials to annihilate the Sith once and for all?

Tired Jedi, mostly. Those who wanted peace more than anything in their lives. The kind who'd give up everything, whether it be their lives or their future, for something meaningful. Something lasting.

The Sword sighed and kept on his feet. He felt antsy just being there, with nothing at his fingertips to keep him busy. His time could've been spent in preparation for the next fight, be it for himself or his Order, but he'd chosen to take time off instead.

"How odd," he muttered. "This isn't like me at all."

The low hum of the Thunderstruck's engines always had a soothing effect on him. It was something about the feeling of flying where he wanted, just to get away. To see the world. And today, he was getting to see Tython.

As his X-Wing touched down on the landing pad, he looked out and saw more figures moving to the small circling forming. No other people were around, so that must be where they are meeting at. Grandmaster Starchaser had sent out an invite to him, asking if he would like to join today's lesson. Though there were supposed to be other Jedi here, ones possible pro alliance, he decided to not make a big deal out of it,

Save it for the battlefield.

Hopping out of the ship he landed softly onto the ground, the grass reaching up to around his ankles. Rubbing both hands down his new robe he flattened out any wrinkles, trying to look at least somewhat presentable. Thanks to Mathieu Brion Mathieu Brion 's handiwork on his robotic arm, his lightsaber sat nicely inside. He more than likely wouldn't need it, but no reason to risk it.

Walking over to the group he noted how they pretty much all looked different. Some human, some alien, some male, some female, some of everything. And that was the great thing about the Jedi. We were all different. Once he made it to them he decided to greet the group.

"Hey y'all, hope I can join in on this, and get to know the ones of you I haven't met before."

Jedi really did come from all walks of life. But what was certain was they all ended up fighting for the same purpose, just from differing points of view. Some were stronger at combat, others stronger at healing, and yet others more research or education or mediator focused. But one could not really exist without the others. The Silver Jedi and the New Jedi Order, and the Jedi in between, they were all different facets of a larger organization, the Jedi Order. Today, Coren hoped to impart some of his wisdom, both in a skill and in a shared flow walk.

Seeing the Jedi begin to arrive, he was greeting them as he could, and had left it open ended for when people could join him. Part of the history he learned from Skywalker and the Jedi’s Praxeum, there wasn’t a set time for schedule to keep. People came and worked at their own, especially when it came to learning.

The world of Tython was open to the other Jedi. Perhaps after they entertained Coren for a bit they could explore one of the hallmark worlds of their Order. Stepping into his meditation circle, he reached out from where he was sitting to the other Jedi.

When you are readyThey’d hear in the Force.

As they gathered and took their places, the Jedi Master continued from before. “Before our current era, the Jedi were more aligned to one Order. Of course, that was following the Old Republic’s Order, which itself wasn’t without small other sects of the Jedi. When Skywalker came into the forefront, there were so few Forcers that the Jedi Order was where it was, one Order.

“But now, the number of people who can use the Force has grown, there can only be a differing of opinion. And that’s fine. But we can’t forget we come from a common ancestor.”
He took a second as he looked around. “How many of you are familiar with flow-walking?”

Dair watched, attentive, as people continued to arrive. He noticed Ryv, the Sword of the Jedi, and offered a nod. He knew that it hadn't yet been time enough since his return from what had essentially been a self-imposed exile on Midvinter for people to be familiar with him. The lack of familiarity in the greetings he received confirmed this, though he was not bothered. Notoriety had significant down sides, and he was quite comfortable in his current anonymity.

When you are ready

Dair swiveled his head to look at Coren, listening as the man spoke.

“Before our current era, the Jedi were more aligned to one Order. Of course, that was following the Old Republic’s Order, which itself wasn’t without small other sects of the Jedi. When Skywalker came into the forefront, there were so few Forcers that the Jedi Order was where it was, one Order.

“How many of you are familiar with flow-walking?”

Dair lifted his hand in the air and made it roll from side to side. He'd heard of it, but hadn't experienced it before. He remained silent, though, as stating such wasn't a useful addition to the conversation.

“How many of you are familiar with flow-walking?”

Tom raised his hand as he entered the “classroom”. Always fashionably late.

It’s time travel,” Tom muttered to himself. “A very useful ability that’s been woefully underutilized.” Just because you can’t change the past doesn’t mean firsthand knowledge of the past wasn’t an equally powerful tool. Why, you could use it to determine who had committed a crime, not to mention any other number of events. It was every historian’s dream.

”Flow-walking” huh? So that’s what this is about. Yes, Caltin knew what it was, and even raised his hand, as Dair did. The big guy though, unlike the others probably, had a working knowledge of the ability. No, he was not a Master of it, in fact, one might say that he was barely considered “proficient”, but he knew the skill. Frankly, he did not like it. Keeping his Padawan up to speed, Caltin spoke to her through the Force so as not to interrupt.

~” Flow-walking is a rare ability that is used and taught by Aing-Tii Monks, the belief is that if you use it, you can view and eventually alter the past inevitably altering the present. The belief is you could do this in the future as well. The problem is it’s an “empty promise”, the allure of changing the past when that is a part of what makes you who you are, or altering a future that hasn’t been written yet. I don’t fear much, but I don’t like the thought of it.”-

The honesty in his tone and face told the story, Darth Balthazaar, a Sith Lord he had once faced (along with four others) really did a number on his mind when he was a “newly minted Knight”. It’s affected him ever since, though less each day. In a recent conversation, he had told the Arkanian about this, about how he had been touched by darkness and it was still there. It was not meant to make her fear him, but that there were no secrets and that she could understand him better and maybe, in turn, understand herself.

Getting back to the gathering, it was time he actually spoke up briefly.

Not necessarily "Time Travel", but close, you can view the past and the future. Though what of the metaphor "When you drop a pebble into a river, what happens? There's a splash, and then the splash disappears. The splash is real, but the river doesn't change. It continues on just the same."?

The metaphor he quoted was from a Sith, but it still held credence in his mind to the state of the ability. This was not to bring negativity but to at least make the conversation interesting.
...YOU JUST HAVE TO REACH FOR IT.

Hardly paying attention, Nik was lost in the Force at this moment. She could not hear the question, or the new people showing up, nor did she hear the padawan rudely answer without being called on. If she had, the reply he got would have made her laugh. No, instead she found herself in a bright Light, all consuming warmth feeling of peace, and serenity. Her smile grew, and she found this to probably the very thing the Jedi were always talking about. Finally she opened her eyes, hearing the end of the master's explanation of Flow Walking.

"Sounds like a dance move." She whispered to herself.

She realized even more people had shown up, now surrounded by Jedi. The anxiety she felt with what she used to call the enemy all around her made her feel uneasy, but the lulling call of the Light continued on, eventually putting her back at ease.

Thraztin opened his eyes as the lesson began, taking in a view of the Jedi gathered all around.

"So it's viewing the past or future, but remaining here?" He said looking between Masters Starchaser and Vanagor as they discussed flow-walking. He'd never heard of it, but his few short years with the Jedi had mostly been spent covering the basics that he was never taught by the Chiss. "Is it some sort of controlled vision through the force?"

This subject intrigued him greatly. As an Ozyly-esehembo, precognition had been an integral part of his training and remained his strongest ability in the force. It was rare for Chiss to keep the ability this late in life, but Thraz was a rare Chiss.

A familiar face cropped up for Phalsi, giving a small there and gone smile at Tom Kovack before she settled in to the listen on the in depth discussion of the ability in question today. There was back and forth banter about the true intention, or execution of the ability. Some thinking it was stepping through time in a physical sense maybe? Another corrected them, and another added to the discourse.

A metaphor was given by someone( Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor ) , and she followed the train of thought briefly.

"The splash may disappear, but the ripples will continue even to the fringes of the pond. A way of viewing a past event to track the aftermath? Or at the least a beginning of such." She piped up from beside Coren Starchaser Coren Starchaser with a glance his way. It wasn't often she liked to speak up at these things, as she had a tendency to rile people up rather than be helpful, but this seemed like a pertinent thought.

Persephone was just getting oriented within the ring of crystals, which had a serene and calming effect on her mind. She had good experiences with Jedi crystals in the past and was pleased to see these splayed out around them, glowing with the force. Med waited just outside the boundaries of stones, keeping a close mechanical eye on her, both mechanical eyes in fact.

She and Cassus had decided to take a seat, kneeling in the back of the group assembled. Persephone didn't recognize many faces, but then again she didn't expect to. She didn't know much of the differences between a Silver Jedi or a Jedi from the Temple at Coruscant, but from the meeting at Tribunal Station, she had come to understand there were deep disagreements in philosophy. From that assembly she recognized one or two faces at least, she remembered Ryv Ryv being at the center of the discussion there. She eyed him quickly then turned over the Master Starchaser who began his opening monologue.

Persephone hadn't known the number of Force users in the galaxy had changed nor did she know they were as unified as described by the Master. She soaked up the information as best she could, eager to know more about the Order she'd been entrusted to.

Then the discussion came up on flow-walking. She had no idea what it was, as she was woefully bereft on most topics pertaining to the monastic order, but it sounded interesting enough. As hands began to raise, insights were opened and Persephone grew more curious. She had no idea anyone was capable of such a power, much less the Jedi who she assumed would shy away from something so easily abused. But then again maybe that's why they kept it in their repertoire of abilities.

The metaphor offered by another Master in the group was puzzling and cryptic. Persephone was more one to get to the heart of things. When there was a moment she raised her hand from the back of the group, Cassus glowering at her scared she would embarrass herself and he'd have to hear about it later no doubt. But Persephone's need to settle her misunderstanding was too great.

When the Coren Starchaser Coren Starchaser looked to her she spoke timidly, the melody of her soft voice barely reaching him.

"By peering into the future, doesn't that inevitably mean that you can alter it?"

Persephone liked that idea but knew as a budding Jedi she shouldn't.
