Building Foundations - Embassy Construction on Coruscul

j-c-park-cliff-temple.jpg

|| Coruscul ||
Coruscul, a little known Galactic Core world. Small and circumspect. it lay hidden within a nebula, shrouding it with natural protection unless one was able to navigate its path. Here, among the jagged peaks and ragged cliffsides, lay a bountiful world that the New Jedi Order hoped would bridge the many schisms all Jedi had seen in the past.

Corsuscul held a hidden stronghold of the ancient Order of the Silver Jedi: the only stronghold not destroyed by Tel Angor. It was this stronghold that Grand Marshal Omai Rhen had decreed to present back to the current Silver Jedi Order as a token of good faith. Among the rest of surrounding grounds, a vast network of locations and areas were also to be given to the many Jedi Organizations that were scattered among the galaxy.

The congregation on Coruscant and the word brought back by Jedi Marshal Aela Talith and Master Taeli Raaf troubled the Grand Marshal. While it was true that they could not participate in a three front war, it did not mean that they were unwilling to assist the Silver Jedi Order or the other Enclaves who desired aide.

After much meditation on the Force, the Grand Marshal determined that the schism that had torn the Jedi apart was much like an open wound. Steps needed to be taken in order to heal it properly. Time, attention, and care. Above all, a willingness to let the Force heal it at the pace it should. The steps may take time, but this was a step towards progress.

Perhaps, one day, for unity.

Grand Marshal Omai Rhen stood upon a balcony, overseeing the thick mist that lay heavy across the slate gorges and cliffs. Invitations had been sent along with navigation instructions.

He could only hope that they would be accepted.

Coruscul was a planet with an amazing history. If the stories were to be believed, some sort of force vampire thing was apparently created. There was no way to be one hundred percent sure, it waa just a legend like everything else that happened eight hundred years ago. There was a good four hundred years of mess and death and disappearing and whatever else that happened between the time of the legends and present day.

Kei had done basic research on the way to Coruscul. The invitation had been recieved to The Jedi Order. [member="Romi Jade"] had dispatched Kei and another fine Jedi Knight in [member="Solidor Slane"] to investigate and perhaps represent The Jedi Order. It was true that the Jedi was fractured and cracked and that they needed unity at a time when the galaxy was struggling. The Jedi all needed to band together in someway and this was the best way to do it.

Kei admitted that he wasn't the best person to represent The Jedi Order. He held his own opinions on different Jedi groups. He held his own opinions on what was going on in the galaxy and he wasn't sure that his opinions were exactly popular. Not that he ever really voiced his opinions these days, but he knew that they weren't the most popular. He never cared about being popular though, which was good.

He walked towards the meeting point, patient.

Objective | Meet with the other Jedi enclaves to discuss the embassy

The aged figure of Solidor Slane would be seen seated within the transport ship that held both him and Kei who had been sent to represent The Jedi Order in constructing an embassy on Coruscul alongside the other Jedi factions and those who called the Light their ally. Both of his hands would rest lightly atop his cane, his palms resting on a spherical, emerald crystal that seemed to shine even in the dark. It was a dark time indeed for the Galaxy. Many imperial powers had claimed hold over large portions of space, and those that sought peace were but a scattered and broken people under many different flags.

Solidor would open his eyes as he felt the subtle shift of the transport as it was arriving on Coruscul, drawing a deep breath through his nose before exhaling to focus his center. He would slowly rise to his feet alongside Kei as he lifted his cane up, tucking it under one of his arms as he began to slowly walk down the ramp, his posture solid and upright despite his age. He would glance around the area, seeing that they looked to be the first to arrive. He would glance over to Kei as he walked beside him to the assigned area before turning his gaze upfront, speaking in a clear voice " It appears we are the first to arrive. We should greet our fellow Jedi and properly introduce ourselves. "

Solidor's appearance was not typical of most Jedi that sported robes, but he still carried himself with the air of one. His voice was firm yet gentle, and he carried the air of a respectable individual who was still humble. Twas promises of peace and unity that had drawn his attention to take up the responsibility of representing the enclave in which he served, with hopes of bringing together those that followed the light. It would take one step at a time, but through persistence and conviction, that vision may someday be realized.

Invitation accepted.

Jessica Matthews and [member="Ronin Wendigo"] stepped off their starship and into another perfect day on Coruscul. Which, was kinda awesome.

"Well. This should be fun." Jessica smiled from ear to ear. Turning her gaze towards Ronin, "Next stop, shopping spree! Hehe."

Or, maybe not. ...Rather, Jessica and Ronin turned to accept the GA welcoming committee. Which hopefully included a handshake from one [member="Rhen Qel-Droma"]

Coruscul
It was only after landing the ship onto Corscul hangar that Ronin sort breath a sigh of relief as for one he didn't have to doge nor engage any hostile entities on this current mission run. Although there was a bit of hesitation on his part during the flight and initial contact with the control tower here on Coruscul. For if anything was to be said about it come to a neutral invitation on a somewhat armed ship was not quite the ideal way to go. But he didn't have much choice in the matter as after having just come back from a supply run to one the forward active camp engage in a face-off with the more recent sith threat. He'd barely had time to disembark let alone be able to change ships before he received the orders. As it came down the line to him that after a long while Coruscul was extending a peaceful invitation to all willing parties to meet on the planet surface.

116999811_star_wars_ghtroc_light_freighter_by_adamkopd787bah.jpg

That as much was to be said about it the talk of possible negotiation or establishment of a consulate there was on the line. Which was something most in the order viewed as something that would be mutually beneficial to both parties as such a delegation was chosen. Of which one the Jedi Master named [member="Jessica Matthews"] was appointed to lead and he was instructed to accompany as soon possible. So with barely time to spare the ship was slightly loaded with supplies and few if any available Jedi were given the choice to join.

Sometime late....

It was then no sooner had the ship landed and he just about power down the ship that the Jedi Master turned to him and spoke.

"Well. This should be fun."

To which with slight jest he replied back.

" Yeah, I reckon so...would be a nice change of pace from having to have ferry supplies to the front and not get shot at for one. Which reminds me.... So you got any place as to where to go next after here ?"

At which time seemed no sooner had he said this that she turns to gaze at him with a smile on her face.

"Next stop, shopping spree! Hehe."

In which time shake his head slightly he jest.

"Yeah, riggght.... had to ask but anyway figured we might as well get this show on the road then first. By maybe Rendevous with who else came and then meet up with our host so. After you then Master...."

As he then motion to gesture her out of the cockpit and lead both them to the side ramp to exit the ship. Whereas expected the local welcoming committee was waiting and glance off to the side he takes note of another ship that also landed across from the hangar where they were. And near it stood two other Jedi....other guest perhaps from one the other faction or orders he wonders. Seeing as best he could fathom he didn't recognize either one and could only faintly tell thru the force that they were force user as well.

It was with some measure of apprehension that Mathias found himself aboard the TCV Bail Organa. Though officially a Mara-Parlemian Trade Council vessel, it had been on loan to the Provisional Trade Council Order for some time - at least a few weeks as he understood it. The ship was dated, rumors circulating that it had been around nearly 500 years ago, though the Knight doubted any of the original components remained. Everything had been refitted, at least the systems within the vessels when they were purchased from various shipyards and junkyards around the galaxy. Many of the ships had hardly seen use, or been salvaged from battlefields, their hulls significantly older than the systems within. It wasn't optimal, but small governments had to make the money stretch - and so they did. Having purchased a number of older vessels the Trade Council had done fairly well for themselves, and even though the vessels weren't anywhere near equipped to go toe to toe with any of the other superpowers in the galaxy, they were capable of protecting against the most common of raiders and pirates stalking the space lanes.

The Bail Organa though was unarmed, its hull painted a bright red in an effort to identify it as a diplomatic vessel. Unarmed as it was, it had only its engines and hyperdrive to escape any who might attempt to apprehend them with malicious intent. The vessel itself was devoid of armament, like all diplomatic vessels, and the Jedi within carried no more than the lightsaber at his hip. Mathias knew there was little potential for conflict on this endeavor but he couldn't help shake his uneasy feeling. Was it something to do with the vastness of space? Was it something to do with the fact he hadn't traveled much farther than the Centares System? With a quiet sigh he went back to gazing out of the viewport of the bridge - they would be arriving soon.

In the wake of the Silver Jedi Order withdrawal from their space, much had been thrown into the realm of the unknown - in fact the effort to even establish themselves as an independent order had been an effort, nearly snuffed out by the politicians of the Mara-Parlemian Trade Council. Though the Council frowned upon any direct control, they did see the value of the Jedi as diplomats and peacekeepers - it was that respect between the official body of the Council and the Order that found them now collectively attending this summoning of sorts. It was by no means required, and the Order was nearly autonomous from the Trade Council, but the invitation had been extended and accepted by none other than the Executor, Eris Volcata. Both a Councilor, and Head of all military matters pertaining to the Trade Council, she was a retired General. Mathias knew little about her, and truth be told he was still trying to fit into the boots he'd been so rapidly shoved into. It felt as if just last week he'd been a mere padawan, and now thrust into the role of a Knight of the Order he felt wholly out of place.

Mathias took a deep breath, eyes glancing over to the elder woman to his right.

"We should arrive soon - let us hope this trip bears fruit."

It wasn't that Eris Volcata didn't trust [member="Mathias Zaren"].

It was that she didn't trust Jedi, generally. Her experience with the Silver Jedi had left a sour taste in her mouth, and watching their failures endangering not just Jedi themselves, but the countless systems they had influenced, had led Eris to promise that she would never, ever trust them. Yet and still, she had been overriden by the Council, who had declared that those Jedi who wished to stand for the Mara-Perlemian Trade Council and in defense of its citizens, should be encouraged to do. On their own heads be it, Eris had thought while casting the single 'no' vote. With her objections on record and her vote cast, it was time to put aside the differences they had and work together.

Building a nation was going to be difficult enough without squabbling and infighting.

"Diplomacy isn't typically my forte, but when the President says jump, I say How high?," she told the Jedi with a sardonic smirk, smoothing the front of her belted tunic before tugging the aubergine blast vest she wore. If the object was to help build an embassy, no one could accuse Eris Volcata of coming unprepared to work. "If the Jedi truly value life, neither they nor we have reason to fear." She straightened and clasped her hands behind her back, surveying the mottle of hyperspace calmly as she waited.

This was, strictly speaking, not exactly true, but she kept her concerns to herself as the ship lurched out of hypespace and began broadcasting its clearances.

Look what they've done to my dream
The visit back to her home world of Hapes, mostly for business, was also perfect timing to visit the collective Jedi at Coruscul.

In some ways, the planet reminded her of Voss; brimming with nature, expansive horizons and colours as far as the eye could see. A meeting point had been arranged for those wanting to attend, and she had sent word to [member="Jessica Matthews"] and [member="Ronin Wendigo"] of her arrival, two allies of the Order who she had learnt of this place from.

Maybe her experience was slim in the presence of others, Masters and Knights alike, but she was here to do one thing – unite the Light and support the Jedi in their stand against the Dark, but also in the exciting adventure that lay ahead for them all.

Space exploration, research and development of new technologies to help the galaxy thrive and to expand in order to protect the star systems from dark forces lurking in the shadows.

The Ranger transport that had taken her to Hapes now touched down on the moist grass with a gentle bounce and she was escorted out, in her cream Hapan gowns, shawl, braided hair and lightsaber. A Force Spinner span in-between her fingers to help quell the anxiety she felt and nervousness being away from her Master [member="Valae Kitra"] on her own.

But it would be what her Master wanted – to be out there and to learn, to observe, to be knowledgeable and be proud.

She saw a small group in the distance and walked straight for them, nodding and smiling to those who walked past, equally as responsive with a smile and small hello here and there.

As the woman beside him spoke, he cracked a smile. Mathias hadn't known much about the woman the Council had sent with him towards Coruscul, and he still wasn't sure what to think. She seemed nice enough, but there was something lurking beneath her relatively calm demeanor. He'd heard through the grapevine that Executor Volcata hadn't been exactly pleased with the formation of the Trade Council Order - no doubt suspicion on her mind after the recent secession from Silver Jedi Order rule. Could he blame her? His mind wandered for a moment, but he drew himself back from the edge by responding.

"Have you ever been to Coruscul Councilor?"
A genuine question. Mathias had hardly been out of the Centares System, much less this deep towards the Core. His eyes were glued to the viewports, the clouds in the atmosphere of the planet swirling what appeared to be gently across the sea of blue and swathes of green. It looked beautiful from here, set against the dark backdrop of space, unbroken by naught but the subtle twinkle of the stars. He was a dreamer at heart, it's why he found his newly minted position as a Knight of the Trade Council Order almost overwhelming. It seemed just yesterday he'd been just another initiate, trying so desperately to learn about the Force and who he was and what his purpose in life would be - the latter was as elusive as trying to grasp at fog. As communication between the bridge officers began to pick up, Mathias tore his gaze from the rapidly expanding view of the surface to meet Eris'.

"I suppose we should prepare to disembark, are you ready to go now?"
Mathias raised a questioning eyebrow, motioning towards the airlock that would take them to the boarding ramp - the pilots were certainly capable of getting to the coordinates they'd been transmitted with the original message. The Jedi lived a near Spartan existence, the clothes upon his back and the lightsaber at his hip the only things he typically carried. *The Force and the wisdom imparted onto me is all I need.* he thought as he wondered if Executor Volcata had need to gather anything before they left. As he prepared to head down to the lower decks, he could feel the vessel bank gently - soon they would arrive at the coordinates. He was ready. Anxious, but ready.

Ancient Silver Jedi Stronghold
Coruscul, The Core

Careful, Padawans, be most careful, the Celegian Jedi Master projected fretful thoughts into the minds of the New Jedi Service Corps personnel all around his crystalline life support chamber, Recall that this equipment is quite delicate.

His helpers were all trained and qualified professionals, but Oros could not help but feel an unusual sense of anxiety whenever the gaze of the Grand Marshal fell upon him. Omai Rhen had never been anything less than kind to him in their brief interactions on temple grounds, but many in the order saw him as an embodiment the the ideals the rest of them strove to live by. While those around him relied on physical strength to carry supplies into the facility designated for Knights of the Alliance, due to the invertebrate's limitations in type I atmospheres he utilized the power of his mind to lift crates off the ground next to the U-Wing transport and guide them slowly through the air until they were just outside the nearest entrance.

Given his long lived background across a variety of fields both scientific and theological, Master Oros was an authority figure for both MedCorps and EduCorps personnel at the freshly established facility. It had been partially his influence that had allowed for the transport of copies of a variety of the Order's more mundane materials from the Coruscant archives for perusal by the Jedi to be stationed here long term, and he was eagerly looking forward to the arrival of the Silver Jedi representatives, for he had heard rumors through independent visitors that they sponsored an organization modeled after the same Service Corps of old.

Reminded suddenly of the impending scheduled arrival of representatives from this new Jedi concordat's other participating orders, Oros sensed the presence of the descending transports overhead through his species' innate form of telepathic sensory perception. Floating suspended in a pocket of cyanogen atmosphere within a repulsorlift powered and mostly transparent chassis, the Celegian communicated to the device's mind interface commands necessary to set him on a course for the landing pad to meet their newly arrived company.

I must welcome our guests, he communicated to the technicians as he left them behind, A junior knight will be along shortly to supervise you further. Chaos, yet harmony.

"Never," Eris responded crisply. She allowed her hands to clasp before her, and began to twist her wedding band. The ancient ring of gold was her worry stone. She touched it, twisted it, tugged at it when she felt anxious or lonely. It was the one physical reminder of her dead husband that she allowed herself to keep after all these years, a reminder of his presence and a reminder to Eris to think of things from a different perspective when things got rough. In this case, she felt a little anxious about meeting a large group of Jedi. She wondered if they could read the distrust in her soul off the back of her eyeballs or the inside of her head. One way to find out, she mused to herself, dark eyes narrowing slightly.

She half-turned towards [member="Mathias Zaren"] and offered a shallow nod. "I'm as ready as I will be," she replied and gave her wedding band a few last twists as she headed for the door. "Let's go show ourselves to the others." Eris followed the Jedi Knight off of the bridge of the Bail Organa, returning the nods of the crewmen on her way out. "Keep the engines warm," she muttered to herself as they made their way towards the disembarking area.

But by then before they could approach close enough to the two other force user he'd pick up on that another ship appears to come in for a landing as well. One which he couldn't quite make out from what delegation they were with other than as best he could sense they were not of the Force user variety. At which case, once they've dock and the two exited the ship that he instead of pullback or just wait it out on the ship decided to hop off. To maybe go off and accompany [member="Jessica Matthews"]. At which time once they've got off the docks and was proceeding towards the core world proper that another rather strange being coming from the sideline towards them. One that from his vantage point appeared to be some sort of being suspended inside some strange hovering containment device.

At which time turn towards the Jedi Master he accompanied them that he spoke.

"Well seem the welcoming committee here and then some..."

As did another Jedi, one who at best he could recollect he'd had the chance to meet once before and so. "Perhaps. Though, I truly don't see our host just yet. Hehe."

In her minds eye, Jess imagined Grand Marshall Rhen or Master Qel-Droma coming out to meet everybody. They would make a welcoming speech, make polite introductions between orders, and then speak individually with each representative. Exchanging gifts and pleasantries. Talking hard business. Then food. Always, always. Food. Concluding the day with the Silver Order moving to take possession of the Grand Fortress and beginning the long process of building an Embassy. Unity by division.

Or,

So it made sense in her mind anyway. Perhaps? Well. Perhaps their great host was still busy with work elsewhere and they'd all have to be a bit patient until her return. Sh'maybe. :D

She gave him a naughty wink.

"Ahem. Anyways... Perhaps it would be best if you went and said hello to a few our these other Jedi chaps around here. No doubt they'd enjoy the company. And, the chance to remember a few new names before we got started in earnest."

Again. Matthews shrugged.

"I'll be along in a moment perhaps. We'll see. Mmm."

It was then glancing back at [member="Jessica Matthews"] chuckling and with arms folded came reply back with her own to him.

"Oh? So you're going to put the lady in charge of the foreplay eh? My.. my.. Mister Ronin Wendigo. Now I see how you like to enjoy yourself. Hehe. Oh, my."

Which no sooner noting the naughty wink she gave at his direction that it garners him to momentarily lean a bit closer to her as he'd replied.

" Well, if you put it that way maybe I do .... guess only see what expect from what said lady brings to the forefront. But yeah I do enjoy the company of a new acquaintance or two...and in regards to the latter? Well, what else is there left to look forward to? If one can't find enjoyment with or without company....though yes I do enjoy bit peace in solitude from time to time. Which am I wrong to assume otherwise? Seeing as we're not in the Order of old and having the occasional company along not bad, isn't it? But then again I beg to differ as now that you open that subject .....that I ask the latter question of you as well? "

He pauses and taunts her with a grin on his face if only egged her on to call her bluff as the two pass the time waiting for their host to arrive. At which time she then seem all too aware of the game afoot replied back as seem others came to enter.

"Ahem. Anyways... Perhaps it would be best if you went and said hello to a few our these other Jedi chaps around here. No doubt they'd enjoy the company. And, the chance to remember a few new names before we got started in earnest."

And he lifts a hand to his chest acting as if being struck by her words before reply back.

" And so it seems the Master speaks then? At any rate, as you wish my lady or is it Master Matthews?"

At which time she shrugs as he then nods back in a respectful bow before slowly making his way towards the other "Jedi chaps" she spoke of. Stop but briefly midway and turn towards her add.

"Well, you sure you be ok to be alone for a bit ?"

An eyebrow loft up a bit with a slightly coy mischievous innocent look on his face as she in turn replied.

"I'll be along in a moment perhaps. We'll see. Mmm."

And he spoke back before moving off.

"Well alright....and I'll see about asking if they got any refreshment that can be had here while we wait. And maybe I'll bring you some if I do."

Primary Landing Pad

By the time Oros' repulsorlifts had reached the main courtyard, he could sense the presence of the Grand Marshal descending to ground level from one of the stronghold's still standing towers. Master Rhen had no doubt also witnessed the arrival of the first wave of foreign transports, and as their paths intersected the Celegian fell into floating stride at the leader of his Order's side, confident their final destination was shared.

Grand Marshal, almost melodic greetings touched Omai's mind telepathically, and as he did so Oros noticed for the first time a conspicuous absence, Where is Master Qel-Droma?

"Chief Librarian, glad you could join us," the elderly human greeted him warmly, offering a rare brief smile as he inclined his head respectfully at the sentient invertebrate, "Qel is attending to some last minute details. He sends his regrets he could not be here to greet the first arrivals, but should be along soon enough."

A harmonious chime filtered into Rhen's thoughts, and the Grand Marshal was at least familiar enough with the Order's Chief Librarian to recognize it as the Celegian equivalent of an agreement or positive acknowledgment. The two continued the rest of their walk to the landing pad in relative silence, Oros taking comfort in his companion's calm and well-ordered mind. Most humanoids were buzzing with telepathic surface thoughts, even among certain Jedi, and living among the non-telepathic could sometimes be akin to drifting through a sea of white noise.

The primary landing pad was located just outside the main compound, far enough to cut down on some of the noise pollution regular liftoffs and landings brought but no so far as to be outside easy walking distance from the stronghold's outer walls. As they approached, the Chief Librarian's unique form of sensory perception detected the auras of the waiting dignitaries before Grand Marshal Rhen could make them out distinctly.

They are prompt, almost all of the Orders have arrived, he informed the simply robed human beside him. Oros offered to share his recollections on names and specific details, but the suggestion was waved away politely. In his sixties, Omai's mind was still sharp enough to recall who he was dealing with from the communications accepting their invitation.

"Hail, brothers and sisters from foreign lands!" Rhen called out to them as the two greeters approached, "On behalf of the the New Jedi Order and Galactic Alliance, I welcome you to Coruscul. I am Grand Marshal Omai Rhen, and my companion here is one of our volunteer delegates, Master Oros."

Greetings to you all, monotone words with an undercurrent of pleasant, chiming melody touched the minds of everyone in the area, It is my honored privilege to be of service.
