Personality and Beliefs
Bernard is completely devoted to the destruction of the Dark Side. His commitment to the Light has historically drifted into the realm of zealotry, though decades of bloody conflict have dulled those flames. He's not one to pontificate on the nature of the Force, and instead prefers to take action.
Despite his dedication to the Light, his morals are all kinds of screwed up. In terms of traditional Jedi, he comes across more like a warmonger than a peacekeeper. Moreover, he has a very narrow and rigid definition of good and redemption which many of his peers would disagree with.

- Veteran of a Thousand Wars: Bernard has lived through, won, and lost more battles than is good for the soul. He's a deadly combatant and more than capable of holding his own against powerful Sith.
- Jedi Soldier: He takes to war better than peace. In the quiet, the dead meet him with rancor. The battlefield is solace to him.
- Irrational Conviction: He's caught in a never ending battle against the Dark Side. He doesn't allow for compromise in his conviction to serve the Light, even when he should.

Bernard belongs to the old guard of Jedi who founded the New Jedi Order and built the Galactic Alliance. He's fought in countless wars, been both hero and villain, and carried out selfless acts as well as heinous crimes. Throughout it all, he's never relented in his service to the Light Side.
Over the decades, he's become increasingly disillusioned with the Jedi and the Alliance, and has gone rogue to pursue what he feels is necessary in the fight against the darkness.
