Selena Halcyon
Jedi Master
Selena stood upon one of the plateaus where the Republic had managed to make a beach head. The fortress world had been hard to crack and many had died to get here. Part of Selena's heart ached at all the death. The Republic had just come out of a painful war, admittedly one that went far more smoothly than expected. It seemed as if the Sith crumbled as they were attacked. It did not surprise her to see it happen. The Sith never could keep themselves together and strong. They fought at each other as soon as they gained any power, unable to hold onto it. Still, it grieved her to think that they were already back at war.
She had longed for peace in the wake of the Empire's fall. And it had been achieved for the most part, albeit rather shortly. Yes, cleaning up and stabalizing the region was a difficult process but one which was working. Some Jedi, like Daella Apparine and Diana Moridena, worked tirelessly to hunt down the remaining Sith and others worked even harder to lend aid to the people. So much of her wanted to focus on that region of the galaxy but here she was in another fighting another war. The Grandmaster tired of this kind of thing, surprisingly longing for the simplicity of training younglings.
Yet, in the wake of the Galactic Empire's invasion of Fondor the Republic was left to act. Though the relationship had been strained at times the Republic and the Protectorate were long lasting allies. It was natural for them to lend aid to the Protectorate when they were attacked and then assist in taking down this Empire. The Grandmaster had reservations about jumping in on this attack. Prior to this she had mostly ignored the Galactic Empire, just watching it knowing what normally came with Empires. Expansion. And that is what they had shown when they attacked Fondor.
Had it just been for that attack Selena would not likely be standing on this plateau right now though. The military could handle this affair well enough given the Omega Protectorate's abilities. Then the news that the Fringe had joined the Empire had come in. Perhaps it was the loss at Fondor that caused it. She was not sure. But she did know that the Fringe was another haven of darksiders. It was even headed up in many respects by the former Empress Ashin Veranin. The Grandmaster could already see the beginnings of a new Sith Empire in the works, even if by another name.
When she had gathered many of the council members together to announce her decision to join the Republic's attack she had made it clear that she would not try and compel them to join her. Many were still tending wounds from the Sith War. She had not ordered them to participate in that war, even less so did she press them to join in on this one. While her tone had been calm, it was clearly tired. Tired of war, tired of fighting, but she was driven to serve and protect.
Though she did not really feel it, one could best say that Selena hated being on this planet here and now. She stood on the plateau looking across a bridge to another where the Fringe Empire were set up. Republic soldiers and Jedi were all around her. Craft moving down to add more. It would be a long engagement she was sure. This planet was set up to force that to be the case. She practically groaned at the thought of it.
She was tired, but ready. Looking to a soldier near by, "Are we ready to move?"
"Yes, Grandmaster, we have assembled enough soldiers to progress."
