    • Advanced Power Coupling(s) - Capable of Shunting additional Power to Shields, Weapons, or Engines for Marginal Performance Increases.
  • Squadron Mask - Disables Starfighter's Transponder via Dedicated Jamming Module; Best Used in Dogfights due to Pilot Confusion.
  • SLAM System; Temporary Speed Boost at the Cost of Disabled Armament.
  • Sensor Inverter; Short-ranged Missile Redirector via Microburst EM Pulse - Works best with Conventional Warheads.
  • Dedicated "Blockade Buster" Fighter; Powerful Alpha-strike Capabilities coupled with a Powerful Armament.
  • Gyroscopic Cockpit Module - Capable of Spinning the Fighter to Aid Operational Maneuverability.
WEAKNESSES
  • Heavy Automaton and Slaved Systems; Combat Performance is Significantly Hindered if Disabled by EMP attacks or excess Ionization.
  • Limited EMP and Ion Resistance(s); Sustained Damage is Dependant on Attacking Device(s) Potency / Scale and Proximity.
  • Fixed Forward Weapon Placements; Consistent Reorientation for Target Acquisition.
  • Repulsorlift Jammers; Proximity Dependent as Jammers are Less Effective at a Distance.
  • Advanced Power Couplings - Notable Dips in Operational Performance when Power's Allocated away from Major System(s.)
    • Shunted to Engines: Weapons and Shielding are Weaker.
    • Shunted to Weapons: Speed is Reduced and Shielding is Weaker.
    • Shunted to Shields: Speed is Reduced and Weapons are Weaker.
  • Large Dorsal and Ventral Attack Profile - Higher Probability of Scoring Hits.
  • Squadron Mask - Disables Starfighter's Transponder via Dedicated Jamming Module; Ineffective at Range.
    • Conventional Sensors are Not Effected and the Starfighter / Squadron can still be Targeted.
    • Requires a "Cooldown" After Each Use.
  • SLAM System; Reroutes Power from Weapons to Engines - Temporarily Disables Armament.
  • Assault Shield - Double Front; When Utilized, Port, Starboard and Aft Shielding is Weaker than the Bow / Fore Vector.
  • Sensor Inverter; Works best with Conventional Warheads; Higher Chance of Failure in more Advanced Warheads.
  • Slower model Starfighter with Ponderous Maneuverability [Wide Turns.]
  • Gyroscopic Rotation - If Damaged, the Module Locks and the B-wing Cannot Rotate.
  • Alpha Strikes; Consecutive Usage can Fry the Firing Circuitry - Wholly Disabling the Fighter's Armament - Firing Cycling Recommended.
DESCRIPTION
While the REC-AS01 B-wing Assault Starfighter was designed to be a loving re-creation of the venerable Mon Calamari design, the REC-AS02 B-wing Heavy Assault Starfighter was intended to be a wholesale enhancement. While a majority of the armament was the same, there were several noticeable differences that set the two Starships apart. The first was the replacement of the Twinned Autoblaster Cannons beneath the Cockpit, with the far more powerful Quad Laser Cannon - which boasted the firepower to destroy unshielded Starfighters in a single-fire cycled volley. While this was a capable addition to the B-wing’s armament, it sadly took up a considerable portion of space beneath the cockpit module - which meant that the AS02 couldn’t carry the single-use Bombs into battle.

However, as much of the Starfighter’s dimensions were increased to house more internal systems and fire control modules, the Cockpit managed to have enough room to house a Twinned Autoblaster at the rear - which would be capable of shooting down whatever pursuit craft, or munitions, the AS02 would encounter.

The second, and most prominent feature of the AS02 Heavy Assault variant of the B-wing, was the Composite Beam Cannon that was affixed to the forward, and core sections of the Starfighter. This design harkened back to the original B-wing - or more commonly known as the Blade Wing - that was first piloted during the Rebellion era. While the armament the B-wing carried into battle was formidable, the Composite Beam cannon made the Starfighter extremely dangerous to Capital Ships. As the highly concentrated firepower given off by the weapon system could wreak havoc on a Starship’s external plating, likely causing a hull breach, which could then be extended further along the starship’s exterior as the B-wing completed its strafing run.

However, as shielding systems became more advanced and were increasingly populating more mundane designs, the Republic Engineering Design teams made the Composite Beam Cannon mountings modular. Which in turn, allowed the system to be swapped out for something that was all the more dangerous to a Capital Ship’s defensive barriers. Originally seen on ancient Republic Repulsortanks and Mobile Artillery Walkers, the Sustained Ion Cannon would become a fearsome replacement for the Composite Beam Cannon. When in use - the Sustained Ion Cannon would be capable of constantly bombarding a Starship’s deflector shield with highly ionized energy, before eventually punching through the defensive screen. This breach in a Starship’s defences could then be wholly exploited by the AS02 - or any Starbombers that followed their cousins into battle.

The results of which, would likely be devastatingly explosive for whatever craft stood in the B-wing’s path.

From there, much of the REC-AS02 B-wing Heavy Assault Starfighter was functionally the same as its previous iteration. The entire space frame was still capable of rotating around the Cockpit to reduce G-Force stress when the Starfighter’s momentum was altered and allowed for the larger assault ship to evade incoming enemy fire - whilst retaining the Pilot’s focus on their target. However, in addition to the new weapon systems, there was another difference between the AS01 and the AS02. The apparent lack of an Alpha Strike functionality. While that capability made the AS01 wholly dangerous in a dogfight or strafing runs against Capital Ships / Ground Emplacements, it was the addition of the Heavy Weapon(s) that made it impossible to fire everything at once. There would’ve been too much strain on the reactor, and it would’ve left the Starfighter wholly starved of power - which would’ve disabled the ship after a single Alpha Strike volley.

So, with the various changes wrought on the B-wing’s more heavily armed and armoured successor, the REC-AS02 B-wing Heavy Assault Starfighter was poised to become a true terror to whatever targets had the unfortunate circumstances of falling into the Pilot’s targeting reticule.
