- Unlike other starships designed by the company, the Atomos Shield Corvette is specifically designated for a support role due to its central system: the Projector Ring. The Projector Ring, inspired by some planetary shield generators, is designed to project full coverage shielding, or boost existing shielding, on four other starships that the Atomos is supporting.
- The Atomos is a very defensive ship in of itself, boasting a triple-layered armored hull and a dual layered deflector shield and ion shielding, making it a very tough ship for a corvette. In addition, the ship is equipped with several of the latest defensive weaponry designed by Aurora Industries, and four shield leech weapons to drain away an enemy's own shielding systems and strengthen its own.
- Utilizing two Aurora Crest Drives, the Atomos is surprisingly a fast starship considering its more defensive role as a support ship, easily outpacing many other corvette-class ships.
- While the ship excels at defense and support roles, it does not have any offensive weaponry of its own to fight against other ships of its class or larger, forcing it to rely upon the ships it is supporting to engage larger hostiles than a starfighter.
- If the Projector Ring becomes damaged, it won't be able to project additional shielding to other ships until the damage is repaired. Similarly, if the dedicated reactor for the ring is sabotaged or damaged, the ring won't have enough power to project the shields.
- While the Atomos can project shields to four other starships, it does have some limits on how much another ship would be bolstered/protected due to the prototype nature of the design:

A new design to come from Aurora Industries, specifically from the design team at their new Bassadro facility, the Atomos-class Shield Corvette is a deviation from many other Aurora starships. Emphasis was placed less upon firepower, and more upon how the vessel could be a support ship for fleet formations with the engineers taking inspiration from some planetary shield generators in creating a system that would allow the Atomos to project deflector shields to nearby starships. The vessel is built around and in support of this Projector Ring emitter, itself able to send shielding to four other nearby ships to bolster or completely cover their protection. Utilizing a dedicated Aetharstar Reactor for its power source, the ring has four miniaturized shield projectors like what one might find on a ground installation to project the additional deflector shielding.
The Atomos is designed to be an incredibly tough starship to destroy, with a triple-layered armored hull and a dual-layered deflector shield of its own to make sure enemy attacks won't break through the corvette. Defensive point defense emplacements and quad laser cannons of Aurora's latest weaponry were installed on the vessel to give it, and other ships near it, protection from enemy starfighters and missiles, while the company also included four shield leeches to further help allied ships inflict more damage while weakening an enemy starship. Two Aurora Crest Drives were installed to give the ship a high degree of speed, easily allowing it to keep pace with other corvette-class ships.
