At the Gala! (CIS)

The Eternal Queen

Bothawui

This had been a carefully planned event.
Catering was being done by the best bakery in Bothawui, serving up a very wide array of deserts and sweets. On a long, white table, dishes were spread out, filled with all manner of delicious things, from chocolates, to cakes, to sweet ice and even sweetmallow squares. Drinks were available as well, at the fully stocked bar on the opposite side
The music was something quite special. They had managed to book Lala White to sing at tonight's event. A difficult thing indeed, with the opera season in full swing.

But none of this could quite outshine the dancefloor. Smooth, solid wood flooring, modern lighting. It was crisp, yet elegant. Modern, but with class. Perfect for tonight.

Lancer was a rugged man, and didn't quite fit the dancefloor, or the table scene. The fastest gun in the galaxy (as he had yet to be proven wrong), didn't quite like formal events, but he made an exception for this one to make good for his new friends. Friends, was relative. Friends subtracted from contract pay. He adjusted his holsters, and threw the poncho over them. The medallion on his neck, glinted in the dim light near the bar. Say what you want about the Mandalorians, they made some pretty strong liquor.

His piercing his eyes glanced about, never focusing so long on a single object. The shadow on his hat made the frown on his face especially...frowny, as he glanced towards the dancefloor. He took a sip of the clear Mandalorian liquor, shaking his head as he downed it, gesturing for the bartender to get him another, as he would probably need it if the night went on any longer."Tell me, Mr. Damar...how did you end up here..."He said sarcastically to himself, taking a sip of his liquor that could (allegedly) clean engine parts.

Keter

"But daaad," Felicity pouted, swaying in place, "these shoes hurt my feet!"

Keter sighed as he tapped his eyes. "Sorry Princess, but you know how your mother is about appearances," he apologized, looking at his eldest daughter. The young girl was dressed in a pretty little dress Feena had picked out for her, matching the dress that she had chosen for Celeste. Both were adorable, but Keter figured he was somewhat biased. He himself was dressed in nothing approaching finery. Just a simple clean tunic over a long sleeved shirt and leggings, all in muted colors. He wore boots as always, and he saw in himself the perfect pauper to Feena's queen. Because she was a queen. In all but name really. Oh sure the CIS was run by an Executive Council, but Feena held the majority of public support. Her Sanctuary project had won the hearts of the people, just as Keter had known it would.

But it did little to win the hearts of her own family. She was too busy with work. She was beginning to neglect them. Keter understood her work was vital. But saving the galaxy was pointless if there was no one left to be saved. And she could start with her own family. The blond sighed and hung his head before forcing himself back to the present, looking at his disheartened daughter. She was trying so hard to catch her mother's attention, it was only a matter of time before she started acting in extremes. He had already caught her trying to sneak into the training rooms to take one of the practice sabres.

"How about we get you some matching slippers then?" he offered, and the girl's face brightened.

Barnabus and Slevin were keeping eyes on Celeste as he dealt with Felicity, in one of the rooms Feena had set aside for their use. Hopefully, she would get some use out of them as well this evening.

The Mandalorian sauntered into the ballroom, still clad in his armour, but he had taken the liberty of removing his helmet. It was rare to see him without his helmet, after all. He wasn't used to such a formal affair, but it was needed for his new job, he assumed. Such work was thirsty work, and no doubt there'd be drinks flowing at the bar for the rest of the evening. He walked to the bar and ordered a black ale, and took a seat on one of the stools, and watched the room. This might not be bad after all, he thought.

The Eternal Queen
The Archon stepped into the room, with her hair pinned up, wearing a plain white slip.
Little seven year old Felicity was the very picture of charm and sophistication- Feena had made sure to take extra time for getting her ready. She'd curled the girl pretty blond hair, tied it up with ribbons, even put on a touch of make up on her face. The girl was dressed in beautiful sky blue, a dress handmade with love and yards of exotic silk- gathered during Feena's travels. If there was going to be anyone stealing the show tonight, Feena was sure it would be her own little girl.

As for Feena herself, she was just pleased to not be pregnant anymore. She could fit into her old dresses now- even the fitted ones. She had plans for tonight. She was going to do the things she had not been able to do. She was going to wear that slinky dress (slinky for her, at least). She was going to have a drink or two... or five. She was going to dance. She was going to feel confident.
Because now she could. Now she wasn't carrying a little person inside of her. She was free! And tonight, stressful as this was, it was about her. Her, and the two others who were being handed the CIS, rather awkwardly after Genesis lost his mind. Feena was still not happy about that situation there.

"Keter," Feena sighed, holding up two gowns, "I haven't decided what I should wear."

In her left hand, she held up a plain, champagne colored gown, long, with a low dipping neckline. In the other, she held up an asymmetrical burgundy gown.

"Oh... Is that what you're going to wear, Dear?"

Vendir

לוֹחֶם מְפַקֵד
Vendir wasn't going to stuff himselft in a suit to go to this event. But he did shine up his armor and take out some scratches, he wanted to make himself presentable. He had been standing at the bar for a while, looking at who had came to this "gathering" and whoever was brave enough to step on the dance floor "you ordering?" The bartender asked "no," Vendir said "not now." he wouldn't have a drink this early in the party... Actually he wouldn't have a drink at all, because his face, everyone would probably lose their appetites. He continued to look around before sitting down 'I need to do something with my face' he thought 'or at least get some synthflesh to cover it'

Aella had spent the previous day finding an outfit for the formal event. She had decided upon a sweetheart neck line strapless, long, turquoise gown. Her heals were silver stilettos. For this occasion she had most of her hair pinned up with the odd curl gracefully falling down across her shoulder. Upon her neck was a beautiful, decadent, diamond necklace.

She smiled at the sight of the venue. Beautiful and perfect for dancing. She began to mingle and greet the others. Finally some time to relax and have some fun!

Daxton seemed rather distracted, arriving dressed in a rather simple robe of muted purple, his silver half face mask firmly in place. Nodding to familiar faces, he headed straight for the bar and sat down in a corner, signalling the bar man for his usual drink as he eyes idly scanned the crowd.

She wasn't happy, he could tell. Keter stood up from where he had been kneeling by his daughter. "Well, I can hardly go and overshadow you now can I?" he teased lightly, smiling as he nodded his head at the champagne colored gown. "That's a finer color for you, or so I believe," the blond explained, tunring back to his daughter. "What do you think, Felicity?"

Felicity tilted her head to the side, studying each dress carefully. Neither dress looked comfortable. That seemed to be a theme with her mother- uncomfortable clothing. The child tugged at the stiff blue fabric on her arms, shifting uncomfortably in the tight shoes.

"Daddys right," she finally decided, "That one."

Her eyes swept the room, taking in both her parents. Mother was pretty, even when she didn't try to be. And Daddy... was Daddy.

"You should dress up too," she said, shaking her head at her father, "Mommy doesn't like what you're wearing."

Strask managed to clean up enough to pass muster, but no more than that. The bothan muttered to himself "Way to go. Why did they invite you again?" He spun the ring on his finger. Why would they invite a street urchin to this? Ah, well. Enjoy it while you can.

The Eternal Queen
So her family had spoken. She looked the champagne colored dress up and down, then the burgundy one. No, they were right. It was absolutely the best choice. Problem solved. She put the other dress away and carefully started pulling the one that her family had picked up her body over the slip.

"Listen to you daughter," Feena said, nodding in approval of the girls observatons, "She is right. I don't like it. It's too casual. And you know I don't buy the 'not wanting to outshine me' excuse anymore."

She turned in front of the mirror, fingers slipping on the fasteners in the side of the dress. This was the hard part, trying to get the dress to close.

The blond sighed as his shoulder's slumped. "Well...I only have the one suit you know," he pointed out, but went over to the wardrobe where he had prepared it anyway, knowing this could have well been an issue. It was his only piece of really formal clothing. He didn't have Feena's love for fashion or showing off. He loved blending in, being beneath notice. No one paid attention then, and he could get away with anything. He had walked on Jedi worlds when a Sith, and on Sith worlds when a Jedi simply due to appearing like any other civilian.

Still, to argue with the women of this family was a futile effort. That thought made him smirk slightly as he headed to the bathroom to change. "Shall I bring my sabers too? Since I' sure most of the men folk at your little event will also be bringing their weapons..." he said, shooting a quick smile at his daughter.

The little girl grinned as her father headed off to change. His suggestion made the girl nod vigorously. She loved watching when her Daddy trained with his lightsabers. She'd never seen anything like it. They were so pretty, so impossible. And such a pretty color. Of course, she knew she wasn't supposed to play with them. She'd been warned how dangerous they were.
And she prided herself on being a good girl.

"Bring 'em! Bring 'em! Bring 'em!"

Felicity turned her attention then to her mother, who she knew would have the final say.

How could he only have one suit? Had she just not noticed that every time they went out somewhere nice, he wore the same thing? She needed to get her implants checked then, if she couldn't see that much. She could take him shopping later and have a tailor make him something nice. She couldn't very well let him get away with being so casual in front of her co-workers.

She found the hook at the side of her dress at last and hooked it together, turning this way and that to get a better look at herself. Now, should she wear jewelry, or...

"You are not bringing those tonight," she snapped, "I don't care how many weapons everybody else brings. Don't you know who I am? What kind of message would it send if brought my own husband to an event like this armed? Not another word about it. Get changed. We are already late as it is."

In the wake of disaster, there was always a silver lining. Sure, the former Grand Marshal had gone marking insane and dropped a quintet of Lucrehulks on the Space Asian capital of the Galaxy...but out of it came a leadership change and a hefty promotion for the Mandalorian. Now, he was more than a hired gun, but a legitimate member of the Confederate military: commander of the Phantom Corps. Yet despite this elevation, this evening wasn't about ranks or titles. It wasn't about who now presides over what division or who is leading which fleet. Tonight was about the Confederacy of Independent Systems, coming together and having a good time. For, after all, they were a strong, and growing, family...with the occasional bout of dysfunctionality. In any case, Isley Verd arrived to the Gala shortly after the other guests; and had one helluva time getting through the door. This was due to the fact that, for the first time in forever, he was not wearing his armor! Instead, he was wearing a black suit that was Kuati in origin. Only the very best, of course.

Isley was the definition of fresh as he stepped within the ballroom, yet he felt relatively naked without the presence of his armor. Sure, he had his saberstaff and machine pistol tucked away, and even incorporated a conservative, armorweave vest that laid just underneath his dress shirt. Regardless of these accommodations, he felt "weird" without the presence of his beskar'gam, but a single evening "naked" wouldn't kill him; or so he hoped. As he stepped forward, he plucked a glass of champagne off of the tray of one of the hostesses roaming around, swirled the golden contents about in said glass, and gave the beverage a swig. From there, he roamed over the the bar and greeted those seated with a warm smile, before adjusting his sunglasses.

"How's everyone doing this evening?"

Phoebe was a new member of the confederacy and was still adjusting to life outside her prison. It was awkward at times as this was a whole new century and she wasn't sure how to behave in certain situations. A gala however she could handle as in her day Phoebe had hosted many such events. This would be a good way meet others and perhaps spend some time with Isley.

She had developed feelings for him though she would never admit it. There was no way he shared her sentiments so Phoebe did her best to brush them to the side. Her feelings were nothing more than her being lonely and him being her the one whom saved her and gave her a home.

As Phoebe stepped into the ballroom she swiped a champagne glass from one of the waiters and took a sip as she scanned the room. Phoebe had chosen a beautiful red and black evening gown(http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/236x/f4/74/38/f47438e9fd37f35ff85167cd2d4ea7a5.jpg)for the evening. Her hair had been neatly pinned back behind her head in a bun. She couldn't help but smile as her eyes happened to glance at Isley whom cleaned up rather nicely.

"Don't you look handsome all dressed up in a suit,"she smiled taking another sip as she approached him.

Keter smirked at his daughter even as his wife vehemently denied his request. The blond slumped his shoulders and shot his daughter an apologetic look as he went on with getting changed. After a few minutes he emerged, dressed in his suit. "Alright, let us be off and see your subjects Queen," he said, offering an arm to his wife and reaching down to hold his daughter's hand.

Lightly clasping the left arm of her husband, Feena arrived at the ballroom some time later. From what she could see, it was turning out to be a decent enough event. At the very least, it looked like the bar was decently stocked. True, she was instructed and urged not to drink in her condition, but Feena wasn't one for taking her own doctors medical advice. Rather ironic, considering she often threw a fit about her own patients ignoring her advice.

As she walked down the staircase with her family, her fingers tightened on her hand bag. Inside, she had all her medication. It was nearly time for another dose. How embarrassing. She couldn't even enjoy a party anymore without needing to medicate herself.
She was starting to feel lightheaded already.

@[member="Keter"]

She hardly recognized the mandalorian as he wasn't in his armor. "Why hello there! Clearly this is a special occasion!" she said as she approached @[member="Isley Verd"]. Taking a glass of champaign off of one of the trays that walked past she smiled and greeted the others sitting at the bar as well.

"Seems we meet again," she said winking at @Lancer Damar. "I promise this time I'll stay conscious." she laughed remembering when they had first met. She had let her blood sugar levels drop dangerously low in the middle of a heated argument between Cantina patrons and passed out. The gun slinger was good enough to help her out with a protein bar, which she had not forgotten.

"I absolutely LOVE your dress!" she said to @[member="Phoebe Draclau"], "Where did you manage to find that gem?"
