SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Stealth Systems: One of Altagak's primary purposes is to naturally increase the user's passive stealth abilities. To that end, Altagak is made primarily out a pair of sensor-dampening materials: Shadowsilk mixed fabric and Stygian-triprismatic polymer plating. Shadowsilk is also noticeably excellent at absorbing sound, making the movements of Altagak's users almost silent for most practical purposes. While these materials do make it harder for sensors to detect the users, they do little to actually visually obscure the users except in low-light conditions.
  • Climbing Enhancements: Altagak is designed to increase a user's ability to climb. Artificial muscles permeate the inner layers of the armor and reinforce key muscle groups with added strength to increase the user's natural power and endurance. Additionally, the palmar surface of the hands and fingers as well as the soles of the boots are coated in FrictionGrip to allows users to maintain a better grip on surfaces, even allowing users to cling to smooth, vertical surfaces.
  • Three Dimensional Mobility System: Mobility is often an issue on the modern battlefield or during infiltration of large structures, but many common mobility systems such as jetpacks and repulsorlifts are easily detected by even the basic sensors and scanners. To provide the user with extra mobility, Altagak uses a unique system of six swiveling ascension cable launchers with power winches: two firing upwards, two firing downwards, and one firing on either side of the user. Typically a pair of cables are fired and attach themselves to an object and then pull the user towards the attached object if the object is larger and more massive than the user or if the target object is smaller and lighter, pull the object towards the user. This unusual system allows users to easily scale vertical terrain or navigate through obstacles in artificial and/or closed terrain, but it tends to not be very useful in open terrains such as most deserts or plains.
  • Loth-Wolf series Combat Scanner with SC-1 Hardened Comlink: This system provides Altagak users with its standard package of HUD, sensors, and basicarmor command and control systems as described in that submission. An open sensor slot in the Loth-Wolf has been plugged in with a small full-spectrum transceiver, which acts as a 'radar' for the user, allowing the user to detect starships, space going creatures, and get basic readings on energies and fields. Not only does this provide the user with basic situational awareness, but it allows the user to lock onto moving objects or analyze stationary objects for use with its vertical mobility system.
  • 888-series Tactical Computer (Left Wrist): Altagak has a built-in tactical computer on its left wrist, which typically holds a pair knowledge cartridges to support mission objectives that the user normally typically isn't very knowledgeable about. Commonly used cartridges include demolitions, slicing, interrogation, cultures, and languages.
  • Quietneedle Dartcaster (Right Wrist): This small dartcaster is built into Altagak's right gauntlet and allows user's the ability to use a variety of unusual payloads, from transponder darts for tracking targets to acid-filled darts for destroying sensitive items from a distance to hallucinogenic darts often used to create distractions.
  • Asclepius Bio-support Dispenser: This internal device provides basic physiological monitoring, emergency topical bacta/kolto administration, and can also inject users with a variety of emergency or performance enhancing drugs. As infiltrators and spies often work alone or in small teams deep behind enemy lines, Altagak users find the ability to immediately and automatically receive basic medical care a comforting
  • Bia series Portable Fusion Generator: Altagak has a single, smallfusion generator located in its pack that is primarily used to power the vertical mobility system along with the suits basic electronics, though a pair of power ports can allow it to be connected via power cables through the suit to provide supplemental power to external devices, which typically are personal shield generators, cloaking devices, individual field disruptors, or energy weapons.
  • Ysalamir Mental Resistance Collar: Altagak incorporates a mental resistance collar to help provide the user with protection against telepathetic attacks, potentially allowing users to resist mind tricks and illusions.
  • Pneuma series Rebreather System: Because users might infiltrate locations in relatively hostile terrains, Altagak incorporates a Pneuma rebreathing system into its helmet, allowing users to survive briefly in vacuum, hostile atmospheres, and even underwater for at least one hour.
  • Utility Belt: Altagak comes with a streamlined utility belt with compartments made out of the same stygian-triprismatic armor plating as the rest of the suit. While heavily inspired by the classic stormtrooper belt, it contains fewer items in terms of types and quanitities in order to cut down on bulk. Each belt contains the following equipment: a spool of high tension wire, one grappling hook, 2 power packs, two ion flares (for illumination or emergency signaling), a combat de-ionizer, a FastMed Emergency Medpac, and two ration packs.
  • Dump Pouches: Altagak has a series of pockets and pouches as well as a bandolier sewn throughout the suit. All of these are made out of Shadowsilk-Defensa fabric blend, providing both physical and stealth protection to the contents within these containers. These typically hold power packs, explosives, and other small pieces of field and mission equipment.
STRENGTHS
  • Stealthy: Altagak is designed to integrate some basic combat abilities with an ability to be stealthy through the extensive use of shadowsilk and stygian prismatic polymer to passively hide the wearer from both organic and electronical means of detection.
  • Energy Weapon Resilience: Altagak provides reasonably good protection from many blasters and other common energy weapons thanks to much of its base layer containing Defensa textile, with some areas of the body further reinforced by polymer armor.
  • Kinetic Resilience: Altagak provides reasonably good protection from many slugthrowers and other kinetic weapons thanks to much of its base layer containing Defensa textile, with some areas of the body further reinforced by polymer armor.
  • Environmental Resilience: Altagak is designed to provide its wearer with reasonablly good protection from common, hostile environments through the use of an entirely atmospherically sealed suit with rebreather as well as good insulation from both heat and cold. These all in turn allow the user to make their way through some less than hospitable (and hopefully lesser used and occupied) areas.
WEAKNESSES
  • Weak Protection (Sonic): Altagak has very limited protection against sonic weapons. While the helmet does provide sonic protection for the user's ears through its HUD system, the rest of the suit was not designed with sonic weapons in mind.
  • Weak Protection (Radiation): Altagak was not designed with providing any sort of radiation resistance in mind, with its thin materials providing little shielding from either naturally occurring radiation or radiation weaponry.
DESCRIPTION
With an eye to the future operations in the densely populated Core Worlds, Admiral Quee directed Lucerne Personal Defense to develop an armor for infiltration purposes to be used by spies, commandoes, saboteurs, and other irregular personnel. To that end, LPD took many of their off the shelf products and combined them with existing stealth materials technology to make a basic infiltration suit. This infiltration suit did not impress Admiral Quee, particularly in that it was altogether too conventional and predictable. Further improvements made to the suit by including an unusual mobility system, climbing enhancements, and the inclusion of a modular tactical computer satisfied the admiral. The resulting Altagak-class Infiltration Armor is one of the few products made by Lucerne Personal Defense that does not appear in its HoloNet product catalogue and doesn't officially exist. Instead, the armor has been produced in limited numbers by a handful of Hephaestus-class Factory Ships which then directly offload it into Directorate installations and warships. Altagak-class Infiltration Armor has been subsequently been issued to Directorate spies and special forces, who employ it for a variety of purposes in which stealth is needed.

This is a very cool armour, nice submission! However I found two problems:
  • First, the Directorate's link is broken, please fix it.
  • The second, this can't be a limited scale-production item. With the Stygian-triprismatic polymer this is able to avoid scanners (just like the Personal Cloaking Device), that means it is a restricted item, because of this this can be only Semi Unique or Unique.
That's all, please let me know if you edited these.

Thanks for the catch; fixed accordingly.

I'd argue that stygian-triprismatic polymer isn't equivalent to personal cloaking devices - keeping in mind this should be fully equivalent to a personal cloaking device in all aspects if it's going to be semi-unique or lower production.

While it does have some sensor stealth properties, it does not provide any more visual concealment than anything else that is dark-colored. The Shadow trooper article is interesting in that is specifically references both the stygian triprismatic polymer and personal cloaking devices. If the two were equivalent in abilities, there would be no need to have both the polymer and actual personal cloaking devices.

In addition, we have the entry for Reflec to consider as well since it specifically references stygian-triprismatic visual characteristics:
The armor worn by the death troopers of Imperial Intelligence was coated in reflec, which gave it a black finish and made the troopers harder to detect. In that regard, it was similar[SUP][1][/SUP] to the stygian-triprismatic polymer that coated the the shadow trooper armor.

I've tried to make this distinction clear within this submission itself as well to make sure that it is not conflated as being equivalent to a personal cloaking device when it comes to visual observation:

While these materials do make it harder for sensors to detect the users, they do little to actually visually obscure the users except in low-light conditions.

Thank you! I had concerns because of what the Wookieepedia write about this, but what you wrote and I asked the others as well, I accept it as a limited prouction-scale submission, because the stealth is imperfect.

Approved.
