DESCRIPTION

The first major expansion set to be released by Galactic Illusionary Gaming for its card game: Age of Chaos. Titled Industrial Politics, the new expansion was designed by the company to focus on the galactic economy, politics, and the seedy underworld that spans the galaxy. Roughly divided into thirds, the first 100 or so cards are dedicated to the new Megacorporation card and the Corporate Executive Being cards. Eight different types of Megacorporations have been introduced in this set, showcasing some of the galaxies largest or most influential companies and their leaders, along with their products to give the game a slew of new Tech, Artifacts, Ground Vehicles, and Starship Vehicle cards. The company also introduced a brand new mechanic to represent a primitive economic system for the game, as detailed below:
  • Credit Counters - Generated by certain cards, Credit Counters can be sacrificed whenever the player is summoning a Tech, Ground Vehicle, or Starship Vehicle card and essentially act as 1 supply/energy towards the cost. This new mechanic is designed to allow players the ability to rapidly field technology and vehicles to support their other cards, and can also be used to summon certain cards like Mercenary Being cards and can otherwise be used for certain abilities as dictated by some cards.

The second third of the set is devoted to showcasing the politics of some of the galactic factions in the galaxy, specifically the Galactic Alliance, New Imperial Order, the First Order, and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. New Planeswalkers represent some of the major political leaders of these factions, while other prominent politicians are included as part of the new Politician type of Being card. Included with these new political cards are the new Debate and Law cards that make use of the various Orator abilities on the Politician type cards, which are detailed below:
  • Debate - Both players roll the number of D20 dice as specified by the Orator abilities on each of their Politician cards, with the players adding the dice rolls together into a final combined total. The player with the highest combined total gains a beneficial ability while the loser of the Debate suffers a large penalty. Debates are then placed out of play.
  • Law - Both players roll the number of D20 dice as specified by the Orator abilities on each of their Politician cards, with the players adding the dice rolls together into a final combined total. However, unlike Debates, unless the Law card specifies its effects target both players, the player who played the Law card either gains the benefit or suffers the penalty for losing. Law cards remain on the players field if they Pass.
The final third of the set is based on the criminal underworld of the galaxy, along with some of its more infamous or skilled individuals. Along with two new Planeswalkers, new card types are introduced to represent several of the more prominent professions in the underworld, along with several new abilities that can provide powerful advantages to the player. The company also introduced new mechanics based on the underworld such as:
  • Spice Counters - Generated by certain cards, Spice Counters are a nasty addition. When placed on a card, it gains +1 to its attack and defense values. However, the card cannot attack or defend unless another Spice Counter is placed on it at the beginning of each turn as a way to symbolize withdrawal. Cards that have Spice Counters are also able to be targeted by cards with Arrest, while cards with Blackmail and Extort have a reduced activation cost when targeting a card with a Spice Counter on it (Activation cost reduced by 1 for each Spice Counter on the target). Some cards are immune to the effects of Spice Counters.
  • Fake Credit Counters - Generated by certain cards, Fake Credit Counters can be spent exactly like normal Credit Counters. However, cards that have Fake Credit Counters on them are targetable by cards with Arrest, while cards with Blackmail and Extort have a reduced activation cost when targeting a card with a Fake Credit Counter on it (Activation cost reduced by 1 for each Fake Credit Counter on the target).
