DESCRIPTION

Aether Technologies was a droid manufacturer based on the planet Keera Major in the Deep Core. The company was also known to design and manufacture arms, munitions, and armor for Aether Security. It was established sometime after Aether System relocated from Taris but before the Mandalorian Blackout Invasion of the Galactic Alliance. The company was known to focus on products that were specifically geared and manufactured for its sister companies whilst also accepting governmental contracts. Its location in the Deep Core ensured that it was capable of maintaining contact with its primary marketplace of the Galactic Alliance, and to keep it hidden away from potential strikes. Aether Technologies was known for its favoring of the Galactic Alliance and was known for its care and consideration towards its employees.

Aether Technologies was known to have relocated its headquarters from the Deep Core planet of Keera Major to the planet of Ferrix in the Morlani System following the Invasion of the Core Worlds by a resurgent Galactic Empire - reestablishing itself throughout the territory held by the Mandalorian Empire with additional locations established in the Unknown Regions between 902 ABY and 903 ABY.

RATIONALE

Aether Technologies was founded before the Mandalorian Blackout Invasion, though sometime after Aether Systems were already established, on the order of Amelia von Sorenn. The company was majority owned by Amelia and was often considered to be a spiritual, if not direct, successor of Titanica Automatica and Trinity Manufacturing which both had gone defunct following the collapse of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Aether Technologies was also known to be backed by silent partners located in the Deep Core and Core Worlds with majority control being retained by Aether Systems.

THE BEGINNING

Aether Technologies was a minor company that specialized in Droid, Arms, and Armor manufacturing; originally founded on the planet Taris, and recently relocated its headquarters to Ferrix from the Deep Core world of Keera Major. Established in the waning days of the Great Hyperspace Wars circa 895 to 900 years After the Battle of Yavin. They first made a name for themselves with the introduction of the AT-XV Battle Droid - an updated variant of the older U-XIII Veritas Series Battle Droid originally produced by the since-defunct Titanica Automatica - to the Galactic Alliance Defense Force to supplement its limited supply of Battle Droids.

The company was also known to focus on limited or specialized blasters as a means to avoid direct marketplace confrontation with larger and more well-known Armstech Corporations, as it continued to slowly grow its name. This was seen in the production lines that were targeted to the members of the Galactic Alliance Federal Assembly and the Strategic Intelligence Agency, with initial success of the AT-SH4 Holdout Blaster and the AT-SI27 Stun Blaster. Aether Technologies' initial successes secured a series of limited Contracts issued by the Galactic Alliance Navy that led to the design and production of the AT-NB5 Blaster Pistol, which became the standard-issue Blaster Pistol for Naval Officers.

Further designs developed by Aether Technologies included the AT-WM9 Blaster Rifle, AT-P5 Blaster Carbine, and the AT-M14 Blaster Rifle, each produced alongside the other in secret. The production of these weapons coincided with the production of the Phantom Assault Armor, NavSec Armor, and the Galactic Alliance Guard Armor - all of which were produced in anticipation of a project to deploy new units that never fully materialized. Though considered unsuccessful due to their limited or lack of deployment, these designs were followed by the AT-RB07 Heavy Repeating Blaster - which was often compared to Si Tech's GABC-17 Boar due to their similar appearance. The continued success of these models further secured additional Contracts, with Aether Technologies further developing the AT-SB10 Scatterblaster and the AT-FL9 Flechette Launcher, both seeing limited deployment in the field.

Aether Technologies has since reestablished itself on Ferrix and maintains weapon testing facilities in undisclosed locations in the Unknown Regions. Whispers have begun to leak, citing a new project that the corporation is currently working on, and if true, its introduction could show the Galaxy that while the Galactic Empire may have taken to the core, Aether Technologies is far from done producing implaments to help the denizens of the Galaxy to protect their homes.

AETHER REFORGED

In the aftermath of the Galactic Alliance's collapse, countless corporations vanished alongside the political structures that once sustained them. Trade lanes fractured, central authority evaporated, and entire industrial networks were left to rot. Aether Technologies survived - not by clinging to its past, but by burning it down and reforging itself on the anvil of Ferrix. What emerged from that process was not merely a restructured company, but a fundamentally different kind of arms manufacturer - one shaped by scarcity, resilience, and a brutally practical philosophy of war.

During the final years of the Galactic Alliance, Aether Technologies operated as a minor defense contractor that had produced a limited run of weapons, armor, and droids for the Alliance. When Galactic Alliance governance collapsed, the company lost access to centralized supply chains, protection contracts, and Coreworld banking institutions almost overnight. Rather than attempting to defend its failing Coreworld facilities, Aether initiated an emergency withdrawal protocol. Key engineers, fabrication schematics, and prototype tooling were evacuated through decentralized routes. Ferrix, long dismissed by Coreworld strategists as a backwater salvage world, became the unlikely site of survival.

Ferrix was not chosen for comfort or prestige. It was chosen because it worked. The planet's culture revolved around recycling, repair, and relentless mechanical improvisation. Its foundries were old, its workers hardened, and its infrastructure accustomed to doing more with less. For Aether Technologies, Ferrix offered something the post-Alliance galaxy could not: reliable production without political interference. Within a standard year of arrival, Aether Technologies converted abandoned yards and smelters into weapons fabrication planets. These facilities were known to emphasize ruggedized construction, ease of field maintenance, interchangeable components, and a tolerance for inconsistent power and materials. Ferrix did not just house Aether Technologies; it reshaped it.

The first products of the Ferrix reforging were the AT-series, a comprehensive line of blaster weapons designed to scale upward in size, output, and battlefield role. These weapons prioritized durability over elegance and reliability over experimental design. Among the most notable platforms produced were the AT-FG15 - a large-frame blaster optimized for sustained engagements that was largely manufactured to supply the burgeoning Ferrixian Guard with a standard-issued blaster. Following was the AT-S7 Blaster Pistol, a compact, reliable sidearm for security and militia use, and its larger counterpart, the AT-HB1 Heavy Blaster Pistol, a high-output sidearm capable of breaching light armor.

Aether Technologies went on to produce the AT-SC1 and AT-C17 Blaster Carbines, both designed as close-quarters weapons that were favored by boarding teams for their compact size. The success of these models in the series led to the development of the AT-XT5 and AT-P2 Blaster Rifles, produced as standard-issued infantry rifles with modular firing assemblies. The AT-X8 Medium Blaster Rifle was manufactured shortly after and was designed for squad-level suppression when heavier weapon platforms were not available.

The AT-MR3 Medium Repeating Blaster was designed as a mobile fire support system and included a specialized cooling system. The AT-series was further developed with the inclusion of the AT-P1 Light Repeating Blaster, a compact repeating system for boarding parties and close-quarters combat. The AT-B12 Scatterblaster, a short-range, devastating breaching weapon, as well as the AT-M15 Sniper Rifle, a long-range precision platform that emphasized stability and optics integration. These weapons earned a reputation across frontier systems as unrefined but unstoppable - blasters that kept firing long after cleaner designs had failed.

Aether Technologies' success on Ferrix did not go unnoticed by its parent corporation, Aether Systems. With regional conflicts intensifying and private security forces replacing fallen state militaries, Aether Systems sought to expand into a fully branded paramilitary supply. That expansion came through Dreadstar Security Solutions, a rapidly growing private security and enforcement contractor. Aether Technologies was formally contracted to design and manufacture a dedicated weapons suite tailored to Dreadstar's operational doctrine - intimidation, overwhelming firepower, and operational longevity.

The result was a series of weapons that reflected Ferrix engineering, refined for corporate warfare. The first in the series that was manufactured was the DSR-series and consisted of the DSR-19 Blaster Rifle, which became Dreadstar's standard-issue infantry weapon. The DSR-27 Precision Blaster Rifle and DSR-23 Medium Blaster Rifle followed, providing Dreadstar Security Solutions with a weapon platform for enhanced accuracy for designated marksmen, and a balanced platform for urban and shipboard combat. The DSR-series saw two final platforms produced, being the DSR-31 Heavy Blaster Rifle, a platform with high-energy output for fortified targets, and the DSR-42 Heavy Repeating Blaster, a crew-served suppression and emplacement weapon.

Initial successes with the DSR-series led to the DSP-series, which was designed to provide Dreadstar Security Solutions with standard-issued sidearms. The first in this line was the DSP-11 Blaster Pistol that was issued to all personnel. This was followed by the DSP-17 Heavy Blaster Pistol, designed as the preferred sidearm for command and enforcer personnel. A hybridization between the two lines was developed, resulting in the DSRP-21 Light Repeating Blaster, which was a compact, mobile fire support platform for rapid deployment and reconnaissance teams. Engineers at Aether Technologies would also experiment with other designs, most notably the DSI-24 Ion Blaster, an anti-droid and vehicle-disabling platform, and the DSG-12 Scatterblaster, which was utilized for close-range crowd and breach control.

Today, Aether Technologies stands as one of Ferrix's most influential manufacturers and one of the few arms producers to survive the Galactic Alliance's fall intact. Its identity is no longer tied to Coreworld prestige or galactic politics, but to production under pressure. The Ferrix reforging transformed Aether Technologies from a conventional defense contractor into a weapon foundry for a fractured galaxy - supplying militias, security forces, and corporate armies alike. In an era defined by collapse and conflict, Aether Technologies did not rebuild what was lost. It built something stronger.
