The Acharon-class Assault Carrier was built as a spiritual successor to the Acclamator-class Assault ship employed by the Galactic Republic and would serve in a similar role as a planetary landing vessel.

The interior of the vessel was mostly empty, with enough space reserved for a large complement of ground vehicles and atmospheric craft. The vehicles predominantly carried by the Acharon included but were not limited to;
All-Terrain Assault Enforcers, Uniwheeled Mechanized Assault Cavalry, Assagai-type Fast Striker Walker, Emeici-type Speeder Bikes, Parang-type Light Repulsortanks, Warblade-type Medium Repulsortanks, Lanvorak-type Heavy Repulsortanks, and Barrage-type Turbo Tanks. These were deployed via a large boarding ramp that extended from between the fork-shaped prow of the Acharon, which would be activated once the Acharon had landed on the surface of a planet. Six large landing gear were extended from the ventral hull for this maneuver.

The Acharon also possessed lateral hangar bays segmented by reinforced beams and protected by magnetic shielding. These bays were reserved for the launching of flying vehicles as the Acharon entered a planet's lower atmosphere. Atmospheric vehicles launched in this manner range between
Talon-class Atmospheric Gunships, MV-D1 Vanguard-series Aerial War Droids, and Vindican-class Troop Transports. While the Talons and the MV-D1s could only operate within a planet's atmosphere, the Vindican could be launched in the upper orbit and in deep space.

Inside the Acharon were barracks and assembly grounds large enough to hold twenty-five-thousand-and-six-hundred
Grand Army troopers and their support personnel, the equivalent of two legions. The composition of these ferried legions was dependent on the scope of their mission parameters and the tactical inclinations of their commanding officers, although in accordance with Grand Army doctrine there was a healthy division of infantry, vehicle operators, and battle droids.

The Acharon was lightly armed for a Star Destroyer, equipped with only laser cannons, flak guns, point-defense cannons, and ordnance launchers. Its defenses were in standard compliance with a vessel of its size, although it was also protected by an electromirror that could reflect or absorb energy-based attacks but was vulnerable to kinetic bombardment and concentrated fire.

Likewise, the engines systems of the Acharon were robust despite the carrier nature of the destroyer. A Jumpmaster 1.01 Microdrive was installed in place of a traditional hyperdrive unit, which not only allowed the warship to reach a 1.01 class lightspeed but also microjump short distances.
