Ah so that was her plan. Kahlil chuckled a little, glancing between Shan and Valery. Another Padawan? Kahlil did already have several, and yet, he did also like the idea of teaching Shan. From the few interactions they've had, he could already see them getting along quite well. He hummed in thought before just chuckling again. Nodding towards Shan. He was nervous now, huh? What a shame that he was. He didn't want Shan to feel nervous, not with the mission that was coming up anyway.

So.. He cleared his throat, motioned towards the seat beside him.

"You look eager to learn. C'mon. I'll show you how to fly this thing."

"That might be a lesson for another time," Valery said with a chuckle in response to Shan mentioning Light Side abilities to deal with Sithspawn. "They can be quite complex, but I can teach you." So could Kahlil, but she didn't want to put that pressure on Shan right now. This wasn't the type of mission where you'd try out a new ability you were studying.

She wanted him to learn in a safe environment yet, and failing with an ability like Force Light could instantly mean death.

Valery then glanced at Kahlil and smirked a little when he seemed to catch on to her plan. She was by no means going to try and force a pairing, but there were so many similarities between them in terms of how they wanted to approach being a Jedi that she had to bring them together. All that remained was to see if the Force willed it.

"I'll sit in the rear row of seats, then," Valery chuckled and sat back while they manned the pilot and co-pilot seats, both of which could be used to control the vessel.

"The trip shouldn't be long, but try to bring us down near the camo coordinates I put in the computer. Some people will be waiting for us there."

"O-Oh. I'm completely alright waiting to learn. Patience is a virtue and everything." He understood that trying something out without practice would be a bad idea, and there wasn't going to be enough time for him to learn on the flight there...Especially since he was already a bit nervous and also especially because it seemed like he was about to learn how to fly. Which ironically made him forget about his nerves. Learning was the one thing that he always looked forward as Shan headed over towards the co-pilot seat.

"I never originally wanted to fly, since the idea of it used to scare me but erh...Vera may have changed my point of view on flying, during the race." It was amusing to him actually. He could technically credit Vera for him getting this lesson...which would then also technically mean that Shan could say he learned something because of three members of the Noble Family. Learning how to protect his mind, learning how to use his saber more efficiently and then learning how to fly. Part of him was already looking to the future to the idea of being able to train others in what he had learned...before shaking his head. It was better to live in the moment, than to think that far off to the future.

Though he frowned slightly at something Valery had said, turning his head back to look over towards her for a moment. "This...might just be me being paranoid...but is it possible that the Sithspawn might have also went after the people who are waiting for us? Or are they safe?" It was most definitely paranoia from Shan but he always thought it was better safe than sorry. If the Sithspawn was intelligent and as smart as he was giving it credit for, then the idea of it waiting to ambush anyone who arrived was something that he thought as a possibility.

Kahlil_Div2.png

"That sounds like Vera. She can see things in ways most people can't." Time was different for her. Complex. He was still trying to figure out how it all worked for her himself. Right now, though, he just nodded to the controls. "There's no time like learning now. Sometimes you might have to fly, right? Better to know now than not know later." And, well, he didn't see an issue with teaching him the basics.

Which he did. Just the most basic of things. How to handle the controls, the thrusters, landing gear. He'd even give over control if Shan felt comfortable enough to control it. Then, he blinked. The question wasn't something he expected from a Padawan. His gaze drifted back towards Valery, before he smiled softly. Gave her a simple nod. He had this one.

"I'm sure they'll be fine."

Valery smiled proudly all over again when Shan credited their little star for his desire to learn how to fly. Leave it to Vera to have such an impact on people at such a young age. It couldn't make her happier, and she knew that it meant Vera was going to be able to count on a lot of support from other Jedi too. Perhaps one day in the future, Shan would be teaching her something he learned.

"You can do it, Shan," Valery encouraged, when Kahlil had shown him the ropes and even offered to let him pilot. Kahlil could assist with the more tough things like landing or take-off, but flying around and making a jump to Hyperspace wasn't too complex. To her, it was exciting even but she knew that was the inner Noble speaking.

Same reason why Vera loved the idea of finally being able to fly herself.

"Take us there, and we'll make sure everybody will be safe again." She nodded to Kahlil and smiled. "After we land, we'll head for his last known location."

Shan slowly started to take in all the information he could about the basics. Controlling the speed, the actual direction they were heading in. How to land when they were going to need to. It wasn't going to come him naturally, with every slight adjustment he made having some form of hesitation behind it. After some more experience, he'll probably get used to it but for now he was going to keep second guessing himself. Whilst he considered his mind one of his greatest strengths, he also considered it one of his greatest weaknesses.

Though once they were past the hard aspect of flying, Shan was a bit more willing to take control, giving Kahlil a short nod. Valery's encouragement helped convince Shan that he was doing decently enough. It wasn't something he was going to be turned off trying eventually. He might not practice it as much as he was practising his other skills, but piloting was definitely being added to list of things he wanted to improve in.

"If you two are sure they'll be fine, them I am as well." He broke out into a small smile at that. He had fully chalked up that thought he had to paranoia now. If the two Jedi Masters were sure that the people on the planet would be fine, then he saw no reason to doubt them. He just had to stop his mind from wandering to those thoughts, turning his focus to the ship. Once they were going to get near the planet however, Shan was going to give main control straight back to Kahlil.

Kahlil raised a hand, flashing a grin. No, he wouldn't take the controls. Not just yet. Entry into atmosphere wasn't an easy thing to learn how to do, but neither was it the most dangerous. When they weren't being shot at. And, knowing how the Galaxy was going, it was best for him to learn now.

"You've got this. If you don't, well, I'll handle it. But I believe you've got this. Just take it slow, and don't point the nose down too steep, yeah?" It was twofold. A lesson, of course, but also a distraction. Worry, panic, they filled an idle mind. He'd, of course, give guidance to Shan as needed for the entry, but he did want to keep Shan's focus on landing the ship as much as he could.

While the Hyperspace Jump to Bordal was relatively easy for Shan to make, entering the atmosphere and having to land were probably some of the more complex things a pilot could learn. She eyes Kahlil because of it, but he seemed confident that Shan could handle it, and her own confidence grew as a result. The location where they were landing was luckily quite flat, and there were no buildings or other obstructions in the way.

A small camp had been set up by people tracking the beast, but they'd be landing a safe distance away. Soon enough, with maybe just a bit of guidance, the Bastion settled down, and every Jedi on board would be able to feel the darkness in their surroundings. Once the ramp lowered and they stepped outside, they'd be greeted by several civilians armed with blaster rifles and pistols.

Behind them was a small camp, but what stood out the most was the medical center. Both inside and outside of it, people were on beds, and most of them seemed to be dead with fluid coming out of their mouths.

"Masters Jedi, you've arrived just in time. A group of armed civilians decided to try and fight the beast, but they're all dying of a disease that reminds us a lot of the plague we had here. Just... the antidote is not working."

The fact he was doing the landing was catching Shan by surprise but if Kahlil had faith in him, he knew he could do this. It was also helping to keep his mind focused on the task at hand, instead of wondering what the Sithspawn was going to be like. Just slowly bringing the Bastion in for a landing, Shan focused on the camp in the distance. Though his sense of curiosity was replaced with a strange sense of darkness. Even if his ability to sense through the Force wasn't great, Shan was able to feel the darkness around them.

Whilst Shan would have normally started to let some of his fear creep in, the moment he saw the medical center, it was like a flip had been switched for him. Instead of being worried about the Sithspawn, or worried about making a good impression on the Noble Masters, his focus was on the dead that seemed to be piling up, as dozens of thoughts were starting to run through his mind.

He listened to the person informing them about the "plague", but didn't make an effort to correct him on the Masters Jedi comment, as he had more important things on his mind...It reminded them of a plague they had previously yet the antidote wasn't working which possibly meant it was different in its structure...And it seemed to be happening to those who confronted the Sithspawn. Was it possible it was warning people to stay away from it because of the plague? No. No. That sounded more like a kindhearted thing to do, and from what Shan had heard about this sithspawn, he doubted that was the case.

Which then gave Shan a question, as he seemed to snap back into reality. "Since the bodies aren't being properly quarantined, I assume the disease isn't affecting most of the population? Only those who have gone after the..."beast?" In his eyes, the first way of dealing with an illness was to decide how it was being transmitted. Stop new casualties from building up, whilst you focus on treating current ones. He was in his element when it came to healing, or at least that's what he felt.

Kahlil_Div2.png

A sickness?

That would explain why the Sithspawn said to stay away, but it didn't explain why they killed so many people and left only one alive. Kahlil stood beside the other two now that the ship was landed and they were out in the open air. Shan had done pretty good with the actual landing. He'd get more used to it in time, but for now it was time to focus on the coming problems. Kahlil narrowed his eyes and started wracking his brain.

Was it a Sithspawn he actually knew? That was the limiting factor.

"What does the beast look like?"

"Correct, the ones who have been in direct contact suffer from...whatever that is." The Zabrak man frowned as he looked at one of the bodies for just a moment. A familiar face who had died a terrible death, choking on fluids that built up in the lungs after exposure to the Sithspawn. There had been nothing they could do for him, and others awaited a similar fate if the creature wasn't stopped.

The Zabrak then turned to Kahlil as he asked another question, and nodded, "Our first reports described this beast as looking very human, but we believe it is slowly transforming as it claims more lives. One of the survivors who died here later from this plague had a picture taken." He pulled out a datapad and showed them the monstrosity that awaited the three Jedi.

"That's...not good." Valery frowned and looked at Kahlil for help. Would there be any way they could undo this transformation? Or would they have to kill it?

Was it possible that the Sithspawn could be fighting with itself? Trying to tell the people to stay back whilst also being unable to control it's aggression? Was that even a thing they could do? He thought better of asking Kahlil about it now, incase it caused the people around them to act...harshly at the idea of Shan potentially thinking the Sithspawn wasn't pure evil. Either way, the sludge wasn't a good sign if it was only affect people who were going against it...

Though he shook his head afterwards at that thought. They'd be fine. Fear would be a killer at the end of the day but he wasn't going to let his fear get him, Kahlil or Valery hurt. He had to stay focused on the task at hand. Focus on the present, and then reflect on the past once it had been dealt with. He turned his attention towards the picture that had been taken of the beast...and just blinked.

It was hard for him to even believe that used to be human-like. It now just looked something out of someone's worse nightmares...He turned his head towards Kahlil, waiting to hear from the expert.

Kahlil_Div2.png

".. I've honestly no idea what that is. Or what we can really do."

He didn't know this Sithspawn. And the lack of knowledge was a problem in it's own right. If it was responsible for the plague, they'd need a special way to contain it. If it was actually aggressive, they'd need to find a way to keep it from trying to beak out. His lab on New Cov might be useful for it, but they hadn't actually planned to capture a Sithspawn. They probably should've, now that he thought about it.

Crap.

"We'll have to go see it for ourselves, I suppose."

"I haven't seen anything like this either," Valery admitted, which paired with Kahlil's lack of knowledge meant a problem. The two of them had seen just about anything when it came to Sith creations, so what exactly was happening here? An entirely new Sithspawn, or was there just something they had missed somehow? Either way, it meant they'd have to go for a more careful approach, until they knew what they were dealing with exactly.

"We'll have to go see it for ourselves, I suppose."

Valery nodded in agreement, "We'll decide what we do with it when we know more. I'm hoping we can capture and help it, so we might prevent these cases in the future but..." She clearly wasn't feeling so sure anymore. A highly intelligent Sithspawn that could kill people with some kind of plague, if they hadn't already died to him directly? It sounded like something beyond repair, but she wasn't going to voice that yet.

"After the beast killed some people at the nearby village, it retreated into the old abandoned mines near town. That's where these people tried to confront it," he said, eyeing those slowly dying on their beds if they weren't dead already. "You'll have to be careful because the old mine shafts are not always stable, and this beast... well, I don't have to tell you three." It was a lethal creature, so they'd have to be extremely cautious.

"I'd rather go in now and handle it before this problem escalates," Valery told the others. "Unless either of you wants to step out or take more time to plan?"

Both Kahlil and Val seemed to have no clue what the Sithspawn was, which only caused Shan's confidence to waver slightly. Fighting a creature that cause an unknown plague wasn't exactly the best of ideas, and whilst Shan would normally throw himself in headfirst to help in a situation like this, seeing the state of the people who had went after the creature...was making him hesitate. But he couldn't let that stop him, his job was to help the Galaxy no matter how much he was afraid. They had this under control.

Though when Valery spoke up about still capturing the creature, Shan frowned at the thought. Whilst he would normally be all for capturing something like that alive, but this seemed far too serious for something like that. If it could inflict people with a plague or sickness, then taking it off the planet could be worse than just killing it. He was already trying to figure out which was the lesser evil in his head, but he wasn't making his opinion known. Not yet, he'd wait to see what the other two thought.

Hm...An old unstable mineshaft? Why did Shan get an uneasy feeling at that thought...If the place started to collapse with them inside of it, and they got separated from each other, it would only be a matter of time before Sh-...No. Shan couldn't afford to let that thought surface. The Padawan just gently slapped his hands against his face to try and snap out of it. He was better than he gave himself credit for, he had to believe that.

"I'm...ready Master Noble. I'm not going to step back. Came this far anyway." Whilst he could technically fly out of here now...Though he wasn't sure how the second flight would go, Shan wasn't going to give up. Experience was vital and he was going to do his best to help.

Kahlil_Div2.png

Kahlil closed his eyes for a moment. He didn't like this. A Sithspawn like that was dangerous. Very dangerous. All it'd take was the wrong kind of exposure and there might not be any hope of healing them. And Shan was still so young to be facing a threat like this. And yet, he still seemed eager to help. What a problem. Eventually he just sighed and brought back the calm smile before nodding and stepping forward to lean the way.

"Then we go. If things go wrong, however, you're both to listen to my orders. There's no telling what this Sithspawn can do."

<He's holding something back.>Valery told her husband telepathically.

Shan was awfully quiet and seemed to be drawn into his own mind a little, as they found out more about the situation...only to find out that they actually knew very little about it. An unknown Sithspawn, an unknown plague with a high fatality rate, and it was hiding in a dangerous set of mines. It was a recipe for disaster, but any Jedi would know that leaving it there was far more dangerous for the local populace.

They couldn't ignore it, but as Kahlil quickly pointed out, they'd have to be extremely cautious as well. He wanted both of them to listen to his orders in that case, which got her to raise a brow a bit. "Hey, I'm an expert on Sithspawn in my own right, but very well." She chuckled and flashed him a quick smirk before stepping forward.

The trip towards the entrance of the mines was luckily quite short, and outside they already got their first warning. A body was on the floor with huge scratches all across his back that ran very deep. He looked to have been dead for a while already, but the tremors in the Force felt fresh enough.

Then, from within the mines, all three would be able to hear a woman's scream.

"Of course Master Noble. You're the expert." Shan lowered his head slightly, having no clue about the little telepathic communication between the two masters. Just listen to Kahlil's orders. That was a simple enough thing for Shan to do.

He still stayed in his own thoughts as they made their way towards the mines. That gnawing fear in the back of his mind still but he was ignoring it. In a way, fear was its own sickness, if he thought about it. Though the thought actually made him smirk to himself, the idea of him already being affected by a sickness without even coming face to face with the Sithspawn. He shook his head at that, his smirk slowly growing into a smile. He just had to remind himself that like any sickness, fear was treatable. Just focus on his breathing, and listen to Kahlil and Val. That was his treatment plan.

It was during the travel towards the mine however, that Shan decided to voice his opinion about the Sithspawn.
"If the creature is able to cause a plague to this level...Is it a good idea for us to even attempt to capture it? We would have to take it off planet wouldn't? And wouldn't that potentially be a bigger threat to the Galaxy?" It almost physically hurt Shan to even bring that up, as he cringed. There was possibly a chance the Sithspawn didn't want to spread this plague and here Shan was, voicing the opinion of dealing with it lethally before it could even be given a chance. If the Sithspawn had wanted to wipe out the planet, it could have easily just followed where the sick and injured were being taken...

He awaited their responses, before they arrived at the mines where Shan crouched down to check the body, frowning at the sight of scratch marks. Shan was no stranger from seeing dead corpses, but this kind of damage was something that was new...Though his head snapped up at the sound of a woman's scream, his hand shooting straight towards his belt for his saber. As much as his legs were screaming at him to run after the scream, his eyes just glanced between Valery and Kahlil. He was following their lead right now.

"On killing them, yes."

And that wasn't the goal. Kahlil glanced to Shan for a moment as the boy spoke. Dangerous, huh? Ah, that's right. He chuckled, smiled even. He'd almost forgotten something rather important about all of this, and why he'd started to research cures to begin with.

"If we don't help them, who would? No matter how dangerous they could be, it's possible they were turned against their will. That this is their hell, hoping and waiting for someone to come help them. If they can be, we will help." Then the scream. He didn't hesitate to burst into a run, instead mad sprinting towards the mine. It was either the creature, or someone who'd gotten too close. And neither was good.

"On killing them, yes."

Valery shot him a bit of a look for that comment, even though he was technically right. But her expertise at killing them came from an understanding of the beasts themselves, so that would also help her capture them, right? She was certainly going to try after she had seen how Kahlil was able to heal and restore some Sithspawn. She trusted his judgement.

So, she also let him take lead and give orders if necessary.

"It's also possible that whoever created this Sithspawn could do it again, so learning about this plague might become important later. We help the person who was twisted if we can, and study the transformation to maybe prevent others from falling victim." A small addition to what Kahlil said, but she hoped it would help Shan. His question was one she appreciated though, as critical thinking about assignments was always going to be important.

But all of those thoughs went right out the window when they heard a scream. Kahlil rushed inside, and Valery quickly followed after him, spending only a second looking over her shoulder to make sure Shan was coming too. Soon enough, they would all see the source of the scream - in a dark chamber, the beast was on top of a woman who was lying on the ground, biting down in her neck with its twisted maw.

But it had heard the Jedi.

With a poweful jump and unnatural speed, it launched itself up through a hole in the ceiling and disappeared with a loud shriek. Valery's eyed widened, but she quickly moved towards the woman on the ground and got on her knees to check for a pulse.

"She's gone."
