Castellum is the seat of the Senate and the main Cathedral of the Church of Light. The area around the Cathedral is primarily given over to housing and support of the Church, and is known to the locals as Paladin City.
The Campus
The main schooling and training location of the Church of Light, the Campus is set 50 kilometers outside Castellum in its own compound. Culture:
Zernia is a planet where two cultures have mixed, merging into something new and special. The basis for the planet's culture has always been that of the Azure Imperium, a liberal Imperial culture with a stratified class system. However after their arrival on Zernia that culture was tempered by that of the Hellyni to create an alloy of parts of both cultures.

Life on the planet is all about your status, your position in society. This isn’t a simple caste position but rather a reflection of your job, your social position, the number of people who look to you as a Patron, and the people who you look to as a Patron yourself. Within that structure, there was plenty of room for mobility both up and down the ladder. Sitting at the very apex of the Ladder was the Imperial family, their social and economic position unassailable, the rest of the citizens from the grand families to the lowliest indentured servant, were ranged beneath them.

The indentured servitude was one of those twists which came about through the influence of the Hellyni. Although slavery wasn’t something that was considered, the policy of indentured servitude was one through which citizens in the Imperium could sell their time in order to gain the skills, financial backing or patronage they needed to lift their social standing. The skill of an indentured servant was the key to their price, but all indentures were registered with the government, who held onto their funds until the term of service was over. The presence of indentured servants was commonplace, while much of the labour and menial jobs on the planet was the providence of droids, the two-way social flow of indenturation and patronage provided jobs for those who need it and a way out of poverty if you were willing to take it.

The presence of the Church of Light also acted as a safety valve for the population of the Azure Imperium, providing a level of pastoral care that the government was unable to. The Light, what the rest of the galaxy knew of as the force, was an undeniable presence linking every living being. The philosophy of the original force wielders had been twisted by time, especially the idea of the force having a plan and guiding individuals. The church’s influence pervaded all levels of society, helping to tie the Azure Imperium together. For the everyday man in the street the church represented a safety net, a place to turn to if you needed a sympathetic ear or some advice.

The influence of the Hellyni could be seen to pervade the arts as well as the structure of society. From the diet of the Imperium, heavy emphasis on the wine the Hellyni were so fond of, to the plays which were performed in the theatres. The culture of Zernia mirrored that of Hora in many ways. However, perhaps because of the amalgamation of cultures which had started it, the inhabitants of Zernia were more open, more willing to accept others who wished to join them. The Imperium was also open to new ideas from within, but was primarily dedicated to providing a stable and safe life for its citizens, a place where they didn’t have to worry about crime and the vagaries of the galaxy. Where they knew more or less what to expect from tomorrow, and where the Imperial Family and the Church, driven by a tradition of service were those they could trust to guide the Imperium so the citizens could focus on their families and on climbing that social ladder that was such a part of society.

GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY

Government: Imperial
Affiliation: Azure Imperium
Wealth: Medium
Stability: Medium
Freedom & Oppression:
Zernia is a planet of contradictions, a generally stable and liberal society willing to accept people for who and what they are the planet’s society is built around the stability provided by a strict social order. You always knew where you stood in relation to people, and everyone could see a way to move up the ladder at anytime. However, despite the presence of a legislature senate, it can’t be denied that the planet is the heart of an Imperium, ruled by an Emperor in whom was divested absolute power. Propaganda from his opponents, both domestic and abroad, often described the Emperor as a tyrant, ruling through fear and dictate. The truth, the truth is a bit different. The Emperor holds power but has to be ratified by the representatives of the people in the Senate. This is the rule from the Imperial Family all the way down to most unskilled indenture, everyone in the Imperium is accountable for their actions in some way. As with the church, why you do something, to hurt or to help is the basis for the rule of law. But when exercised the rule of law is paramount, and every criminal is to be given a fair trial and then judgement. As a state-based around providing stability for its citizens are given a large amount of laxity in their lives, as long as no laws are broken, and no one is hurt, they are free to act as they will.

MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY

Military:
The Legions play a key role in the history of the planet, acting as a buffer, the wall between the citizens and the galaxy. From a start of just a few ships to defend against pirate attacks the military protecting Zernia has expanded to consist of a respectable fleet backed up by sizable ground force. The military is made up of highly trained volunteers, supported by extensive droid forces and automation. The military tends to maintain their forces at the level where they are able to prosecute a campaign against pirates, slavers or other hostile powers while leaving enough forces to hold Zernia against most militaries that would attack them.
Technology: Galactic Standard.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Zernia is the sister planet of Hora, settled many thousands of years ago by Hellyni colonists who wanted to set up a new colony on the other side of the galactic wheel. It had started as a throwaway thought, a random thought amongst the youth. After all, the Hellenyi were strong and had no need to form a colony of their own, especially one so far away, not when the friction between the city-states proved to be such a good impetus for the Hellyni to constantly push themselves and improve. But that was exactly it, the city-states were constantly at one another's throats, alliances that seemed to shift and twist with every passing day. While the loyalty to one's city-state was strong, there were those who wondered what the Hellyni could be if they worked together instead of against one another. It was that question that prompted the exodus. Not a huge colonial effort, but enough of one to set them up on a new planet safely.

It was during that journey and during the founding days of the colony that the vision was realized, so far away from their political structure and the support of Hora the colonists were forced to band together to set up their colony. Forged by those fires the colonists grey together, there weren’t enough of them to fracture into their original city-states, instead, they banded together into one large city. They had to do it in the early days of the colony, there were only so many doctors and teachers to go around. Instead of fouling their chances for survival the colonists chose to band together, their leader's mingling forming the great houses of Zernia.

From there the Hellyni spread out across the planet, slowly developing the cross of farms and industrial centres that were so important to any fledgling colony. It would have taken time,a few centuries or even a millenia for the population of Zernia to match the original planet of Hora, but they were well on their way. That timeline however was disrupted by the arrival of a new wave of settlers, a new exodus from the core.

With the rise of Coruscant’s influence, the ever growing union of planets which could be seen to be the precursor to the Republic, many planets saw the potential for increased growth and security. It was the same for [name here] the capital of the Azure Imperium. However, not all citizens of the Imperium were happy to see their culture subsumed by Coruscant and so a colony of these people was put together, an exodus to the outer rim. A hope, a search for a place they could live away from the influence of Coruscant, without subsumption by another culture. So imagine their surprise when they arrived at Zernia, only to find a colony already present. For both the Azure and the Hellyni this came as quite a shock, however, neither group wished to head out into the unknown void of space, to find a new planet to live on, one that might not be as well situated as Zernia. And so a compromise was reached, between them the two groups had the people and the resources to rapidly speed up the colonisation of the planet. It might had ended there, with the two groups forming separate colonies, acting in support and competition with one another apart from one thing. Both groups sought a more inclusive structure, not a competition similar to the City-states on Hora. So they agreed to merge their people, to form one planet with one population. The more numerous Azure were granted Supremecy, but the Hellyni had their right and representation enshrined in the constitution of the new Imperium.

Of course, not everything about those first years was entirely smooth, the largest challenge actually came from the ranks of the Azure refugees. A small group of force users that had come with the Azure exodus made a play for power, feeling they would be better leaders than the noble families who had taken control of the planet. They forced their way to the emperor, taking apart his guards like they were nothing only to find a man struggling under the pressure of doing what was best for an entire planet. Faced with the truth of leadership, none of them found themselves able to take up the burden. Instead they agreed to work with the Emperor, creating the Church of light an organization which served both to train Force Users and to provide local pastoral care and guidance to the citizens of the empire, in much the same way the Jedi would for the republic.

Left to their own devices the citizens of Zernia might have spent the next centuries and millenia consolidating and expanding their territory in a slow measured form. However, life in the outer rim isn’t ever so nice, and the developing Imperium attracted the attention of some less savoury neighbours. The Imperium found themselves under attack by pirates, and hostile empires leading to a rapid development of their military arm, the legions, into a force capable of seeing off those threats. That was until a small empire nearby controlled by a Sith sect turned their attention on Zernia. Assailed by not just military but by force adepts the Church was forced to step in, cementing the bonds and ties that made up the government of the planet. Now, millenia after that first encounter the slow growth of the Imperium has finally reached the point where they can look to the outside galaxy, The planet of Zernia is finally ready to open its doors to all those who would come.

So a few things to address:
  • So AG-38 would put this planet in the Outer Rim or the very edge of Wild Space, considering how close it is to Hutt Space, not the Unknown Regions (That is out towards the First Order)

  • Lunara Azure said:
    Earth-like
Remove this and just say Temperate

  • Lunara Azure said:
Remove that and just keep it Hellynic, even if you'll be using Latin for it

Thank you for picking up the planet submission :)

I have now adjusted the submission as requested. My apologies, I forgot to adjust it when I moved the planet from the location I had originally planned.
