- Some battle droids are made to perform maintenance, operate vehicles, and appear relatable to civilians. Some. The Avalance-series is the culmination of Globex's decidedly less humanised design philosophy, murderous blood machines deprived of fear or mercy. Once they have taken to the field, nuance quickly withers and dies - woe betide those who dare place themselves in the path of their objective.
- Avalanches are programmed to fulfil their objective in the most efficient manner possible, which sometimes entails their own violent destruction. It is far from unheard of for these droids to detonate their power cores/remaining munitions when Sith/Jedi close in.
- Avalanches may carry deployable eyebots for reconnaissance purposes.
- Blood Machine: Avalanches are incredibly durable, ruthlessly efficient, and packing as much firepower as your average infantry platoon.
- Inexorable: Avalanches possess the heavy armouring and layers of redundancy needed to shrug off small arms fire with impunity.
- Blood Machine: Avalanches are, as the name would indicate, cumbersome, unsubtle, and incapable of cunning or deception.
- Bullseye: Avalanches are resilient, but not invulnerable - even a normal service pistol can disable one by focusing down an 'eye'.
"It was supposed to be an easy job - nab a Corpo's kid, make a quick buck. We didn't mean to hurt the brat and never in our wildest dreams would we have anticipated the response: Those accursed... blood machines. Butchery without due process and yet CorpSec did nothing."

Butchers, blood machines, inhuman engines of destruction. Despite their fearsome reputation, most Avalanches are not programmed to enjoy the carnage they wreak, instead being driven by nought but cold logic and heuristic targeting protocols. That said, 'terminating valid targets in a brutal manner to demotivate the opposition' is all too often beneficial to the mission at hand - as a result, Avalances often crush body parts underfoot.
"Sixteen dead, two wounded. DNA samples retrieved from unidentifiables, incendiary clean-up protocols recommended due to organic detritus in difficult to reach places. Surface damage to Unit C-1155, diagnostics reveal 3.7% divergence from optimum; maintenance scheduled."

Whatever the temperature, the Avalanches advance. Whatever the surface, the Avalanches advance. Atop the hulls of spacecraft and across the most humid of swamps, the Avalanches advance. They do not cease until destroyed or ordered to redeploy, not even when their gas cylinders run dry and their munitions launchers lay barren, not so long as they are properly supported - typically by airborne or burrowing delivery drones.
