SPECIAL FEATURES:
  • Small Package: The Hornet's purpose built wings are designed to fold inward, allowing the fighter to be stored away on something as small as a a light freighter, or a hidden rebel base.
  • Ghost of Wild Space: The Full Spectrum Distortion Projector allows the Hornet to jam sensors and targeting computers from locking onto it, making it much harder for enemy pilots to keep track of it, making the already incredibly maneuverable fighter a twirling ghost in the sky.
STRENGTHS
  • Small Package, Big Guns: While the Hornet isn't designed with heavy laser cannons, it's twin Spot Ion Cannons are designed to allow it to brute force through other, heavier starfighter shields, and in large numbers deal with even the shields of a corvette of frigate. It's four laser cannons, while light in power, make up for it in sheer output, allowing it to overwhelm other fighters with a barrage of laser fire rather than sheer firepower.
  • Custom Engines: The Hornet was Si Tech's attempt to embrace the Wild Space mentality, of building your own ship from scrap, and making it work. The four engine mounts on the Hornet are designed to allow basically any set of engines to fit on there, though the stock components are highly tuned engines of Si Tech's own making.
  • Ace Combat Bullshit: The swept wings do allow ace pilots to do some rather nasty tricks with the ship, maneuvers that would normally tear ships of it's size apart. Flips and tricks that, while straining both the skeleton of the ship, and the acceleration compensators, cause the ship to be maneuverability to the point of absurdity to a pilot who knows what they're doing.
WEAKNESSES
  • Weak Drive: The Hyperdrive of the Hornet is only capable of single jumps to nearby systems, meaning their range is limited, and require an insert to allow them to act as escort fighters.
  • Quick, but Flimsy: The R-wing's greatest strength is it's speed and surprise factor. It's not designed to withstand extended dogfights, and isn't designed to be a true interceptor.
DESCRIPTION
With wolfpack actions within Wild Space against The Imperial Confederation ramping up, the WSR's engineers created the R-wing, a small but reliable platform that could be hidden away in anything from a freighter, to a corvette, to small rebel cells that will allow them to hide them in the rebel bases that dot the Tingle arm. The R-Wing's reliability allows it to be highly customizable for whatever a rebel cell might need, but also allows it to be a standard fighter for rebel fighters across the outer rim
