What would you like the first event of SWRP 2016 to be?

Whatever comes about, let's have something the FUs can only "accomplish" but something the NFUs can also only "accomplish", so both sides can feel just as equal in the success of whatever needs to be found/stopped/beaten up etc. Without one succeeding, the other can't - bridging the gap between both but also letting the underdog NFUs shine too which they deserve.

I didn't read any of the other posts, so I don't know if this had been thrown out there yet:

A sect of crazies (or perhaps really smarties) has, ever since Netherworld, developed a "vaccine" for the Force. It's essentially a plague, but it targets midi-chlorians and destroys them. In most instances, the affected individual dies too, but the few survivors make one of the purest forms of Force Dead since the Yuuzhan Vong.

This would be a bit of a game-changer, because the groups who would be targeted the most would be ones run by or with strong ties to Force Users (OS, SSC, GA, GR, etc.). Low-key groups wouldn't be immune, but they'd be able to lay under-the-radar more easily because there's no galactic limelight on them.

Outside of the revolutionary/radical group to kill the Force, could be people who view it as a monstrosity and others could view it as a way to bring balance to the Force if applied correctly.

In theory, it seems like a good way to stir up interstellar events, character development, and maybe even give some people an out for their level 100 characters that they otherwise don't have a way to reasonably kill. Just a fun thought.
 
A sector deep in the outer-rim is dying.
Although small and scattered the four planets involved have called out for help against the dying star that is about to end life as they know it.
The kick however is that all four planets have had geometrical shifts revealing vast wealths of rare minerals as well as several ancient temples ripe for the plunder.
Factions and individuals converge on the sector in waves, creating an all out war for the race to gain what they can, some are there to help the civilians by evacuating them to other planets before the star goes supernova, others are there to rip the very soil apart in the search for treasure.
The force is calling those who can feel it and nobody really knows why, but something about this sector has everyone on edge...

THE RAPTURE WARS
It is a time of chaos. RIFTS have appeared across the galaxy
temporarily creating massive wormholes to other sections of
the GALAXY. From these portals machines of unknown ancient
power emerge and begin ravaging worlds across all sectors
with orbital bombardments and invasion by armored beasts.
Over the ravaged remains of OSSUS, a JEDI unearths the dark
truth that these armored beasts call themselves the VOID
CELESTIALS. An army out of time ruled by a mysterious deity
known as the KING IN YELLOW. Their armies search for what
they call THE FINAL SALVATION and will burn worlds to find it.
The military might of the Galaxy now must fight a new war,
together or not, against the legions of the Void and seek
to destroy the massive VOID FORTRESSES that control the
RIFT gates...
Taking a page out of 40k's book with the Eye of Terror and the Black Crusades - Rapture Wars works as a series of flashpoint war threads that involve onslaughts by the VOID CELESTIAL horde and the besieging of the VOID FORTRESSES to remove the RIFTS or raptures.

The Void Celestial are a malevolent race of ancient warriors that the early hyper technological races banished into another void centuries before the first human civilizations gained hyperspace capabilities. They are lead by a mysterious deity like emperor whom they call the King in Yellow who controls them via a huge area of effect Force Meditation from the HQ of all VOID FORTRESSES.

Jedi, Sith, Imperial, Mando, NONFU, must fight together to defeat the legions as the Celestial Army has powers over Force Neutralization as well as heavily armed machines of war.

Someone unearths a hibernating Zillo beast and soon Zillo beasts are waking up on all different kinds of planets.
 
Something vague and left field. How about a galactic wide 'Ice Age', resulting in anarchy within systems, controlled space .. galaxy wide. Unrest, civil wars along side the usual good vs evil. A fight for survival not only of the wars etc, but largely effected technology and the environment as well.
 
I would like something that threatens the status-quo of the site. I think the most active Events have had that quality about them - whether it's the potential for rewards or drastic, permanent changes to the map.

If the goal is to have an active Event with high member involvement and post count, I think having that element of threat is a requirement. I don't see as much active involvement in Events and parts of Events that do not threaten to change the status-quo once the Event is over. And it's not like rewards and map changes are the only options to give that threat - but they've been proven beforehand.

1. Allows focus on minor, companies, and major factions.
2. Risk cause planet can be -- rebelled to neutrality at 100 posts with all standards dominion rules of a good story.

Please, don't... What about some sort of natural-ish cataclysm like a system's planet going banana and spews radiation all over the place making its planets either scorched heaps of geological material or deserts. Goal for the PCs, well, help the poor sods there not to get wiped out.

In alternative, what about something in the Unknown Regions? Charting something there that will go on the official map, something like a massive Sith Culture with big-league muscles that will consider our Siths as posers or pranksters (and will have the muscle-power to show them), or a droid empire that will react with extreme prejudice as the PC are the invaders.

Mercenary, Artist.
Crazy-ass spacial anomaly scrambles up the location of the systems and planets in the Galaxy - maybe Celestial nonsense? Every faction immediately goes to war to re-establish their influence clouds and grab the choiciest planets for themselves. People who aren't in major factions have the option to join up as mercenaries or otherwise influence everything trying to come together again. Sure it'd be a logistical/carebear nightmare, but if nothing else, it shakes up the antfarm like whoa.

I kind of like the idea of just entire regions of space simply going... poof. In a way.

What if stars just started.... going out?

The first thing that would be strange, is that light takes a long time to update the sky... so if they immediately go out... something else is afoot than dying stars. Something other, something dark and ominous.

Who are they? Why are they kidnapping stars? What will they do with us when they finally reveal who they are? Or will all the stars be gone before anyone can do anything?
