Faction What is it Good For? | Sith Order

Whatisit-Good-For-Title.png
The Battle for Thyferra had proven somewhat exceptional, even amidst the plethora of engagements and wars that the Sith had waged in living memory.
It was expected that the High Republic wouldn’t allow the heart of galactic Bacta production to be torn from them so easily, that they would wield enough forces to make even the most aggressive of Sith Lords pause and consider the best method of approach. Yet what had been brought to bear against the Sith Order’s assault had been far more than mere conventional arms or even Jedi trickery.
Aboard the Grace of Theed a Force Suppression field had originated, one which had rather quickly engulfed the entire world and orbital battle in its nullification. In an instant Sithspawn had reeled, Jedi and Sith alike found themselves stumped and powerless, and all it caused in the end was a far bloodier battle than was intended.
The High Republic’s trap had been repaid in an even more destructive wrath being visited upon Thyferra, the Alazhi paddies being scorched in flame and many of the Bacta refining complexes being rendered into crumbling ruins. Infections spread into plagues, Sith Lords resorted to more technological means of massacre, and much of the Bacta that survived was soured and tainted.
The nullification had revealed not a cornered and cowering beast as was likely intended, rather it had simply provided the armies of the Sith an excuse to show their quality and loose their deadliest weapons of war. One that they had eagerly made use of.
Yet the mere existence of such a capability in the ranks of the Sith’s foes has naturally caused quite a stir, with plenty of voices calling for the capture or destruction of the source of the Force Suppression field now that the battle itself has come to an end. So much so that rather than a mere celebration of Thyferra’s ruination being held on Jutrand, a summit has been called instead.
One which is meant to address not only the weaknesses highlighted by the grand-scale nullification with decisive action, but also to formulate a proper method of retaliation for the High Republic’s new toy.
Inthe-Army-Now.png
Gathered on Jutrand, the Dark Council has unveiled their newest decision in the wake of the Battle of Thyferra for both the Assembly and the wider Sith Order to witness. The creation of a formal, centralized military.
The Tsosûtormaskon, divided into two main types of fleet groups for offensive and defensive purposes, will encompass a newly reorganized and unified Sith Armada. The Kairyon, comprised of both volunteer and conscript forces and with the existing Legions as their specialized branches, will serve as the grand Imperial Army. Yet the existing framework of individual Sith forces isn’t to be disbanded entirely, instead it will also be formalized as the Valdias, the Warhosts of the Sith Lords.
The-Bacta-Issue.png
Thyferra had been severely ravaged during the battle, its fields and refineries almost all irreparably destroyed. The wider galaxy is already suffering mass calls for Bacta due to incoming shortages. Shortages which cannot be allowed to exist behind the Blackwall. As the new military is formalized and the industries of the Sith turn to adjust accordingly, this lack of Bacta must not become an issue.
New refineries and Alazhi paddy fields must be constructed, sources of both natural and synthetic Kavam secured, all so that the armies of the Sith need not fear injury or lack of supply. Already governors and corporations have begun to vie for contracts and deals to establish new industries, both to repair Thyferra and in an attempt to supplant it. Only the most worthy shall receive official support, but all are free to parley and negotiate as they please.

Xucphra City was a catastrophe.

The city sat in eerie silence, its pavilions and boulevards empty of life. Errant fires still burned from exposed gas lines, bonfires that illuminated entire districts where power had yet to be restored. Shyrack reconnaissance craft fluttered overhead, occasionally slowing to an idle before its guns raked buildings and streets with concentrated laser-fire. They were hunting for survivors of the conflagration, citizen and soldier alike. Anything or anyone that wasn't logged as property of the Sith Empire was to be exterminated, that was the driving edict thus far.

A massive citadel hung suspended above Xucphra's gubernatorial palace, anchored in place by a single inverted spire, an impossibly huge banner flying the colors of the Sith Empire and emblazoned with its symbol hung from the center of the citadel. Within the citadel, the Dark Lord of the Sith - Darth Carnifex - watched the ruin of Xucphra City from behind a massive viewport, one that spanned the entirety of the thirty by sixty meter wall in front of Him.

Hands held loosely behind His back, the Dark Lord stood in silence for several moments longer before turning around. Behind Him was an elevated conference venue, encircled by more banners and tapestries proclaiming the immortal glory of the Sith. Several corporate magnates with ties to the Sith Empire, both public and secret, sat around the conference table, as did several Sith Lords and Ladies who likewise had a mind for business and industry. They'd all assembled here today to heed the call of the Dark Lord and His steadfast ally, Lady Taeli Raaf, to shape the future of Thyferra.

The Dark Lord approached, His booming footfalls reverberating through the floor beneath them. When He assumed His place at the table, every eye turned towards Him. "Esteemed lords of commerce and industry, the time has come to determine the fate of the bacta market. With Thyferra now under the total control of the Sith, we have deemed it essential to establish a new center for bacta production atop the ashes of the old. To expedite this, we have called upon you to share in our newfound prosperity. Let it be known that Thyferra is open for business, my colleague can explain what this means for you and your shareholders."

Now more than ever, Nefaron needed his cane.
Thyferra had been a surprise for the entire Sith Order, Nefaron included. The Jedi and their lickspittles nearly crippled the invasion force in one fell swoop, making many Sith mere mortals once more and providing a sharp wake-up call to one such as the Corpse Lord, for whom the Dark Side had become so ingrained within that he could not survive without it. While the newly ascended Lord Helix Helix had provided him with a score of new technological innovations to maintain Nefaron's physical condition, he would need to wait on the permanent solution that was promised on Anoat, but that would take time.

Yet he could not rest. This assembly was to be important; the birth of a united Sith military could prove both advantageous and disastrous for Nefaron and his allies.

The Corpse Lord took careful steps, leaning upon the twisted, black wood of his cane as he made his way into the grand assembly hall; he might have gone to sit with Lirka Ka Lirka Ka 's cabal if not for his current state, healing and mind clouded with pain. He cursed the Jedi Order and planned an endless parade of destruction and suffering for those who supported the Order, but that had to wait until the end of the assembly. He would let the Dark Council argue on as they were prone to do; only after they had said their peace would he mingle with other Lords and broker support in the power structure that was to come. While individual Sith would maintain their personal forces, placing allies within the new unified command structure would be vital for the Dzara's plans, both behind the Blackwall and beyond.

Nefaron all but collapsed into an empty seat, tucked several rows back from the Dark Council, his row blissfully empty as he carefully adjusted creaking bones, his hands shaking ever so slightly. While Helix's wondrous machines were doing their work, it was a slow process and a painful one at that, for they had much to repair and little fresh genetic material to work with.

He hoped the Dark Council would say their piece and get this over with quickly. The sooner he was back on a shuttle to Anoat, the better.

The war for Thyferra had ended, but the Shadow Hand hadn't permitted the machinery of conquest to grow quiet.

He stood before the immense viewport of the suspended citadel like some black idol raised over the corpse of Xucphra City, the ruined metropolis burning far beneath his feet. Reflected fire crawled across the glass and caught upon the overlapping scales covering his torso, dark plates of Mandalorian beskar, each one blackened, reforged, and set into the foundation of his war-tyrant regalia. They hadn't been purchased, gifted, or honorably won. The metal had been taken from the dead during the genocide, stripped from warriors whose people had been broken beneath the Sith's advance and remade into something profane. Old stains had been worked deliberately into the alloy during its reforging, the beskar chemically darkened until only traces of dried crimson remained caught within engraving and seam. Sith runes had subsequently been carved across every scale, transforming trophies of a slaughtered warrior culture into a warded cuirass worn openly by the Shadow Hand. Over it fell layered robes of black and subdued blood-red, severe rather than ornamental, reinforced at the forearms and waist by blackened bloodsteel and bound with narrow strips of runic script. Nothing flowed unnecessarily. Nothing softened His silhouette. The entire vestment had been constructed around the idea of a sovereign prepared to walk directly from a throne room into a killing field.

Behind Him waited the men responsible for ensuring that the conquest below became permanent.

Xorvak Drathuun barely resembled something that ought to have possessed a military commission. The Red Butcher, Commander of the Second Blackblade Legion, was a hulking Massassi whose scarlet flesh disappeared beneath slabs of black warplate. He stood nearly motionless despite the violence inherent in his proportions, enormous hands clasped behind his back while a jagged ceremonial blade hung from one hip. Dried blood still darkened the recesses of his armor from the fighting in Xucphra. Drathuun had personally led the Second through the city's defensive belt during the invasion, smashing through positions that had refused surrender and driving surviving resistance inward until organized opposition ceased to exist. The Blackblades had since withdrawn from much of the routine occupation, but detachments remained positioned throughout strategic districts as rapid-reaction forces. They were not policemen.

Beside the Massassi stood Legate Varkhess Tor, commander of the Immortal Legion brought down in the conquest's wake. Where Drathuun represented the violence of the assault, the Legate represented what came afterward: occupation rendered mathematical. Sixty-six thousand, six hundred and sixty-six strand-cast legionaries now formed a tightening cordon around Xucphra. Infantry cohorts controlled the major arterial roads. Armored formations occupied transit junctions and landing districts. Mobile batteries had been emplaced beyond the city limits, their firing solutions already calculated against every avenue through which a counterattack or mass evacuation might be attempted. Nothing entered Xucphra without passing through Kainite inspection. Nothing left without authorization.

"Outer encirclement is complete." Tor reported. His voice held the impersonal cadence of a man reciting production figures rather than describing the imprisonment of a city. "Third and Seventh Cohorts control the western approaches. Ninth Cohort has assumed responsibility for the starport district. Subterranean access beneath the southern refinery quarter proved more extensive than Imperial intelligence anticipated, but engineering companies have sealed all routes except those designated for logistical use. Civilian movement has been restricted."

Prazutis didn'tturn.

"And the refineries?"

Another figure stepped forward.

The technoadept's robes were reinforced with machinery until it was difficult to determine where the organic creature ended and Shadow Mind began. Mechanical limbs folded against its back like the legs of some dormant insect, while crimson script crawled silently across the lenses covering its eyes.

"Recoverable, Shadow Hand."

Only then did Prazutis shift His attention.

"Recoverable is not operational."

The adept bowed deeply.

"No, my lord. Four primary production complexes suffered substantial damage during the fighting. Two sustained catastrophic failures in their filtration networks. A third lost significant processing infrastructure when withdrawing defenders initiated demolition charges. Shadow Mind cadres have stabilized all major reactor and chemical systems. Technoadepts are presently reconstructing damaged processing lines alongside captured Thyferran specialists."

"How long?"

"Initial bacta production can resume within seventy-two hours. Reduced capacity. Full restoration will require substantially longer."

Prazutis finally turned from the devastated city. His eyes passed first over the technoadept, then Tor, and finally Drathuun.

"Seventy-two hours." The words were neither approval nor complaint. They were expectation. "Whatever has survived belongs to the Empire now." His gaze returned briefly toward the burning city beyond the transparisteel. "The purpose of conquest is not merely to destroy what stood before us. Destruction is the privilege purchased by victory. Dominion is what must follow."

Drathuun's monstrous features twisted faintly at the edges.

"There are still resistance cells beneath the eastern districts." Prazutis looked toward him.

The Red Butcher continued.

"Small groups. Former security personnel. Militia. Civilians with weapons. They strike patrols and disappear into the utility passages."

"Commander, commence a grid search of the city. The population is to be held in designated sectors. All who do not comply, and all who remain are to be liquidated immediately." A silence followed. A savage grin slowly exposed the Massassi's teeth.

"War Droids. Initiate wide deployment behind your movements. All life remaining in cleansed districts to be swiftly terminated. The Immortal Legion will provide support as requested, by your discretion." Prazutis stepped closer to the conference table dominating the chamber, one gauntleted hand settling against its black surface. "We will strip away all available options, beyond compliance or destruction."

Drathuun struck one massive fist against his breastplate.

"It will be done."

"Not by indiscriminate bombardment." Prazutis added. That drew the Massassi's attention. "Thyferra has already paid for our victory. The Empire intends to rebuild Thyferra. The Shadow Armada will provide precise support if it is required, and approved by my will."

The Butcher inclined his head.

"As you command, Shadow Hand."

Prazutis turned toward Tor.

"The Immortal Legion remains. Complete the blockade. Establish permanent exclusion zones around every refinery, processing center, research complex, reservoir, and transport hub relevant to bacta production. Shadow Mind receives unrestricted movement through those districts. Commander Drathuun will reach out with what his forces require for their operation. All others who attempt to breach the blockade are to be summarily executed."

"By whose authority?"

The question was procedural rather than doubtful. Prazutis looked again toward the burning horizon. "Ours." That was enough. Tor bowed. Prazutis allowed several seconds of silence to settle over the chamber before dismissing them with a minute movement of His hand. The Legate departed first, already transmitting fresh instructions across the Imperius Strategic network. The technoadept followed, mechanical limbs unfolding as encrypted orders raced toward the reconstruction cadres laboring below. Drathuun remained a moment longer, red eyes meeting those of the Dark Lord before he too turned and strode from the chamber in search of whatever resistance still possessed the courage to call itself alive.

Only then did Prazutis move toward the inner doors.

Beyond them waited the Eternal Father, Darth Carnifex Darth Carnifex , Dark Councilor Taeli Raaf Taeli Raaf , and Business Magnate Lodd Grimmin Lodd Grimmin . The Shadow Hand rounded the chamber to stand beside the Eternal Father, following his speech, he spoke. "I've begun the next stage of our occupation."

Vɪᴄᴇʀᴏʏ ᴏꜰ ᴀ Tʀᴀᴅᴇ Eᴍᴘɪʀᴇ

Lodd looked out the window of his executive shuttle as it passed through the formidable blockade surrounding the now-occupied Thyferra. There was nothing out there but a wasteland, as where once profitable bacta facilities used to sit there was now just rubble and smoke beyond the garrison now occupying the planet with temporary fortifications in case of Republic reprisals.

The Trade Federation didn't work miracles, and he'd have to remind the Dark Lords of that soon enough. Still the Sith were his best clients for a reason as their constant destructiveness meant he could turn a massive profit financing the reconstruction, all without the hassle of actually owning the land long-term where his assets would be vulnerable to infighting.

His earlier meeting in the High Republic had been full of doubts about his abilities and If he could secure the supply of bacta straight from the source, he'd hold double the leverage back in Republic space to corner the production of Kolto as well. Even so, he wasn't about to ignore the risk of sitting in a room with conquerors without protection. Before landing, he made sure the ancient shield amulet was secured around his neck beneath the robes, a simple precaution that protected him from force powers even of Darth Carnifex Darth Carnifex level.

The shuttle landed, and Lodd made his way into the elevated conference room. Grand banners hung around the chamber, and various Sith Lords and businessmen were already seated around the long table. He listened quietly as Carnifex gave his speech about opening Thyferra up for business, followed by Prazutis stepping into the room to report on the next stage of the occupation.

As soon as the speeches finished and the chamber became quiet, Lodd took his seat and remained silent until a moment presented itself. "What were you thinking when you leveled so much of the city?" Lodd asked in a displeased tone of voice before continuing. "Its going to take twice as many credits just to get the base level-facilities back to where they were before the war. Bacta prices are already down to 800 ABY levels across the Outer Rim and the Core Worlds" He didn't want to sound outright hostile but he found it difficult to contain the numbers running in his head over the fact that the bacta market was practically non-existent given the shortage. Investment here would take considerable capital and the Federation wanted returns on said capital, it wasn't a free loan to the Eleventh Sith Empire.

Amethyst eyes watched as the Kainate forces continued their operations below, her gaze following a pair of Shyracks as they did another strafing run, to another detachment of soldiers cordoning off another district. She would click her tongue as she watched, both Lords of the Kainate all too aware of her thoughts on what they were doing and how the battle had been conducted. If they needed to stamp out remaining pockets of resistance, she would prefer a subtler approach to what was ongoing below the massive citadel anchored above Xucphra City. A few packs of Thought Hunters, some quiet disappearances, but the outright killing and culling needed to stop.

It was bad for business after all.

Their plan for Thyferra required far more work than even the initial estimates and calculations she had seen from Halm. Her re-arrival into the system and her flight over the city to the meeting had demonstrated that to her. Millions, if not billions, of credits would be required to develop and reconstitute the bacta production on the planet. The Sith Empire could have devoted the resources themselves to that project, but there were problems with that approach. She and Danger were still finalizing the details of the Empire's economic and fiscal stability, and adding Thyferra as a direct investment would no doubt strain it.

So another idea had come to mind for what to do with the planet and its absolutely vital commodity.

Still... as the meeting began, and the Viceroy made his thoughts known...

"As hard as it is to believe, I'm rather in alignment with the Viceroy on what I've seen of the damage," she said quietly, her eyes turning directly towards Prazutis as he joined the meeting. She was well aware of how he had, for lack of a better term, arrived on the planet and the further actions taken by him, their fellow Sith and the ground commanders, and even the Republic forces. "The level of destruction was beyond what was necessary, and that is before we even begin talking about the contamination that occurred of the environment. But..."

She would bite her tongue. She could give Prazutis a proper lecturing in private.

"That is why we have begun inviting corporations to Thyferra. With the permission of the Empress, and between my own authority and the backing of the Kainate, we plan to allow direct corporate influence over the planet and its rebuilding processes. While we have many partners in mind that we want to bring into the project, the initial phases of getting the bacta production operational and the planetary infrastructure rebuilt are what need to be discussed today."

Between the Trade Federation and Arceneau Trade Company, and their various subsidiaries, there would be plenty of work and investment opportunity for both megacorporations to bring their direct influence and ownership over parts of the planet. Taeli knew ATC had far more experience in terraforming and environmental restoration than most galactic corporations, even major governments, and they would be vital for restoring the alazhi paddies.

Darth Carnifex Darth Carnifex I Darth Prazutis Darth Prazutis I Lodd Grimmin Lodd Grimmin I Taeli Raaf Taeli Raaf I Danger Arceneau Danger Arceneau

He sat at the table waiting for the Sith leadership to arrive. The conversation among several of his ilk filtered through his ears, soft words spoken before the weighted presence of the most powerful beings in the galaxy arrived. He felt no desire to join the murmurings. The man wasn't there for them. Nor did they offer him anything of import. And while bandying words may have fostered a higher status among peers, the giant form of Tobias Dib, known collectively as Nemesis, remained silent. He needed no status—only opportunity. So, the massive figure waited in continued silence.

Slowly, the others arrived. A hush fell on his compatriots- awe, trembling, hunger, and more than a little fear filled the lesser attendees. A momentary quirk of amusement lifted one corner of his lips before vanishing. Another figure appeared, a woman known to all of them. Taeli Raaf. She was responsible for the intelligence on the device the High Republic activated above Thyferra. Of course, the amethyst-eyed beauty was so much more than a mere combatant. Her reputation preceded her beyond anything those in attendance could hope or dream of attaining.

Well, most.

His glowing blue eyes left her countenance and swept around the table. Opulence, millions of credits in vestiges and apparel, not to mention the gaudy trinkets that spoke less of affluence and more of cheap whores vying for attention. Aristocratic elite and their grand appearances. On the other end of the spectrum were those dressed in ceremonial armor and weapons that never tasted an enemy's blood—showmanship at its hypocritical finest. These were the influential magnates of corporations and industries that the Sith sought to use to rebuild the planet and advance bacta production—a necessary evil. Still, some wore their armor as simple extensions of themselves. Like the matte black beskar'gam adorning his own frame.

Darth Carnifex approached, drawing every eye to the formidable figure before the aura of the Eternal Father swept over the room. Nemesis turned his head, shoulder-length hair swaying upon his shoulder pauldrons as he watched the man, if he could be called that, take his place at the head of the table. Words reverberated, heard and felt, as he greeted those gathered beneath the Sith tapestries. Then another joined him, Darth Prazutis. Nemesis's glowing gaze flickered down to the man's garments, seeing not the cloth but the beskar. Trophies from the fallen become bastardized and profane through arcane sorcery. The seated giant did not indicate personal thoughts or emotions through expression or body movement. Who was he to judge what the Shadow Hand had taken in victory, or manipulated in ownership?

Lord Gimmin interjected his displeasure. A brow twitched as Nemesis listened to the Viceroy's concerns. The man was unhappy with the state of the planet under the invasion tactics employed. Understandable. He was disgruntled by the current price of bacta. Agreeable. He also expressed concern about the cost of credits to get operations back to pre-invasion distribution levels. Made sense. Yet Nemesis shook his head almost imperceptibly in disagreement. Taeli gave her own assesment of how things could have been handled with more care, though it seemed her thoughts on the matter were unceremoniously cut short by her own devise. Open partnerships with companies and corporations that would fund part of the restorative projects in exchange for a percentage of the bacta profits would also have a voice in the planet's infrastructure.

He listened quietly, his mind processing what had already been said before he raised his voice about the situation. "Viceroy Grimmin, I believe the thought was victory. And breaking our enemy. Both objectives were completed. Thyferra is an example of what the Sith Empire can do, should we choose to. And when it is rebuilt, it will be another example of what we are capable of." He offered the Viceroy a small smile to remove any unintended barbs of ill will conveyed. "As far as the plummet in bacta prices, that seems counterintuitive. I believe the term is called supply and demand. The galaxy's demand for bacta has not diminished. The supply has. If prices have suddenly fallen, then demand isn't high enough. I'd recommend cutting off the tentative supply we're offering until prices have risen. That is simple business. What is the point of a monopoly if we do not monopolize the product we control?"

His right hand lightly drummed upon the surface of the table as he glanced from the Viceroy to Taeli. "Yes, startup costs are higher due to the damage to the planet, the production facilities, and the indigenous species who produce the bacta. However, this isn't a fly-by-night operation or a get-rich-quick scheme. The Sith Empire is offering a partnership in one of the galaxy's most important commodities. Bacta. Its importance has endured for multiple millennia. This partnership will reverberate in significance through time. The initial costs will pale in comparison to the net profits attained in less than a decade. If any company cannot see the longevity of this enterprise, we do not need them."

Leaning back, he mused to himself, yet loud enough to be heard. "Wouldn't it behoove us to meet with Daegon and Seraphina Corvinus about their Xucphra Corporation?"

Helix's perspective flickered from form to form as he observed. The enemy's forces had finally been killed, driven offworld or captured, or at least most of them had.

The rest were enclosed in increasingly-small, increasingly-rare pockets here and there, hunted down relentlessly by the forces of various Sith interests. He didn't envy them that fate, but such were the costs of resistance.

His own minions picked through the wreckage, pecking over the bones of this once-remarkable world and squabbling over the occasional shining trinket. It was profound, in a way, what this beacon of scientific progress had been reduced to, and how it had come to be reduced.

Still, not much was left by now. The Liberator just wanted to be sure he'd gotten all he could before the Order's full might swept through. As ever, it was all about his piece of the pie.

Most of the unliving hordes had already been packed away in dropships and sent offworld, aside from those few emerging from infected stragglers. Those too would be corralled and sent away soon enough. After all, they were his, and he had better uses for them than allowing them to mill about mindlessly on an empty planet.

More importantly, it wouldn't do for the cybernetic terrors to be running freely, passive as they were to the Sith. He knew the rest had plans for Thyferra, plans to rebuild it into something rather more useful, and hopefully more interesting. He didn't have much say in those plans, but would at least like to know what they were.

With Darth Nefaron Darth Nefaron keeping an eye on the Council's doings, it was up to him to keep an eye on the rest. Of the two of them, he was of the opinion that Nefaron had gotten the better deal. That meeting would likely be more fascinating than this one, but he was well used to bearing uncomfortable burdens. It seemed to be his lot in life.

Helix listened as some present aired their (understandable) woes about the scale of the destruction. This was one of the rare times when having such an inexpressive visage was of use, or the creature probably wouldn't have been able to suppress a smile.

It had been pointless waste of resources, true, but for once, he wasn't responsible for it. That order had come down from on high, and if asked, he would helpfully point the finger towards the ones who'd made the call.

He didn't bother to air that opinion, at least for the moment. The more time the emotions in the room had to air themselves out (at someone besides him) the better.

For now, it was time to help his fellow countrymen a little with their problem.

"If I may." Put forth the apparition. "I might be able to be of use with some small portion of this debacle. My specific part of the operation is confidential, and not something I can go into great detail about in present unauthorized company. I can only say that as part of it, we were instructed to render the bacta unsalvageable to the enemy, using any means necessary. To this end, the Blight was deployed en-masse by myself and others."

"Unsalvageable to the Republic does not mean unsalvageable to us. A significant quantity of bacta was tainted by the Blight, it's true, but the Blight answers to me. It would be a simple matter to render the product pure again."

"By my count, this would render approximately fifteen to sixteen percent of the total unusable bacta on-planet viable, providing us with a modest but useful windfall until production can be re-engaged."

"Of course, I'd need clearance to contravene those standing orders in this way." He added apologetically, deftly clicking the next portion of his scheme into place. "I mention it only because in technicality, it is within our power to reclaim some of the currently-ruined stock. Doing so would cushion the blow slightly, saving a significant quantity of labor hours and credits that can be put to better use putting out fires elsewhere. Provided that I can secure such clearance, I would of course be only too pleased to help."

Vɪᴄᴇʀᴏʏ ᴏꜰ ᴀ Tʀᴀᴅᴇ Eᴍᴘɪʀᴇ

Lodd rubbed his eyes for a moment in surprise that Taeli Raaf Taeli Raaf of all people would agree with his points about the sheer waste of turning a once profitable planet into a pre-industrial wasteland. He stayed silent as she laid out the reason behind the apparent destruction and the solution, that being offering exclusive contacts to the corporations in the room to fix their tactical mistake and get bacta shipments back on schedule.

Lodd knew the Arceneau Trading Company was by far the largest corporation in the galaxy by weight of subsidiary volume. He regarded them as a rival, one with enough influence to collapse the Federation's plan to monopolize both the Kolto and Bacta production. He was about to voice his terms when Tobias Dib Tobias Dib came into the discussion with a lecture about basic economics.

Dib seemed to think he was educating a Neimoidian on supply and demand. The demand for medicine across the galaxy was high but that didn't mean desperate buyers would sit around paying artificially inflated prices for limited bacta when kolto and the other medical compounds were filling the gaps in the supply.

Lodd refrained from responding to conserve his brain cells, shifting his focus to the murderous robot Helix Helix who appeared in holographic form. They were offering a quick fix by using his control over the Blight to purify a chunk of the ruined stock. Lodd tapped his fingers against the table, immediately running the numbers on a fifteen percent inventory recovery.

"Purifying existing stock will cut down on our holding costs, but it doesn't fix the physical infrastructure." Lodd said, keeping his voice direct and entirely focused on the bottom line. "The Trade Federation in partnership with the banking clan under Sossi Hallisk Sossi Hallisk will bankroll the heavy machinery and bringing in the off-world skilled laborers in exchange for 20% of all distribution of bacta within the Sith Empire. That leaves an appropriate 80% share for the rest of the corporations." The proposal was simple in his mind, the Federation provides the capital and the laborers in exchange for 20% of the product coming from the now opened facilities. This would give them 10% to inject into the High Republic economy while having 10% reserves as a financial cushion.

The-Bacta-Issue.png

The Dark Lord sat quietly as the others spoke, letting their grievances be known and discussed at the length they deemed sufficient. Pertaining to the topic of destruction, the Dark Lord had a direct hand in the Empire's fault. Near the conclusion of the battle, He'd deliberately fired on one of the last standing urban centers on Thyferra, leveling it utterly in less than half a minute. He'd accept whatever tongue-lashing Lady Raaf had in store for Him, as He deemed the destruction ultimately necessary.

"The destruction of Thyferra's industry and agriculture was a necessary step, as hand-wringing and teeth-grinding as it may be. The board has been wiped clean, very little of the Republic's infrastructure remains and we no longer have to play by their technological rules." He waved a hand, and a holo-projector built into the table whirred to life. Illuminated above them were many detailed charts and data lists, all of which pertained to various trials and operations conducted by the Sith Empire on worlds behind the Blackwall. All of them shared one commonality, they were all Yuuzhan Vong bio-terraformation.

"Years ago I conceived a
stratagem involving Yuuzhan Vong biotechnology uniquely tailored to transform and cultivate a world's existing ecosystem, or a lack thereof, into a state that aligned with the Empire's stated economic directives. Through the power of the Yuuzhan Vong, the Empire could turn barren worlds into ecological paradises or increase deficient crop yields a hundred fold. I presented my plan to Empress Talon, and she approved of my work. The data presented before you will show the progress and results of my experiments."

The Dark Lord hid little, the information He gave showing both the successes and failures of the project. What would be notable was the gradual adaptation of the biotechnology after such failures, the living mechanisms learning from where they had fallen short. The next time the experiment was conducted, the results were far more promising and became exponentially so. There were worlds even more devastated than Thyferra that bounced back to fully operational status in the reports, worlds that eventually would become host to both staple and cash crops needed by the Empire.

"With the combination of corporate machinery and Sith biotechnology, Thyferra will be grander than it has ever been before."
