Question What are the rules regarding usernames on this website?

OOC Writer Account
To follow up on the question (in the title) I will expound on my feelings regarding the "Hangul filler (U+3164)" characters, which if you were to Google, "What is it called to have blank characters for discord names?" you would be able to copy and paste invisible letters (which don't spell anything) into your Discord which allows you to appear as if you have no letters in your username.

I have recently done this on all my social media because I find this to be aesthetically pleasing, and while I do not intend to do so with my sub-accounts (although it would be a cool character idea, in theory), I would like to do the same with my OOC writer account. However, I am self-aware that this might be against site rules, so I wanted to ask to see if I could essentially have an account with invisible letters?

I feel like it would be difficult to tag you if you did this, and the idea of a writer account is that you are identifiable. It's one of the core tenants of this site that everything is transparent.

But the staff will have to clarify if it's an actual rule. That's a thinker man

While it does look cool on some systems, I have noticed on my macbook your discord name comes up as a bunch of boxed question marks. While I understand the aesthetic, it doesn't always show up for everyone.

On the note for the site. Please keep it to letters and numbers. Special characters like the one you're looking for might not work with the naming system and cause difficulties for people to tag you.

There is no official ruling, but I will heavily suggest not to and to keep your current writer account's name or change it using letters and numbers.

Aesthetic? maybe, but especially after unprivating all the accounts, invisible usernames feel easily abused to me, by stalkers and bad actors, especially if a lot of people started using it. There's no real reason for anonymity on chaos.

Also tags, I can't rp with someone I can't tag. Had an experience like this with someone who used norse characters in their name, I shouldn't have to reverse image search unicode just to figure out what language a character is from and then try to track down a version I can paste just to tag someone, it's not worth it lol

Site staff reserve the right to change or alter account names if we deem them offensive, deceptive or just difficult for people to interact with.

There have been cases in the past where I have asked people with " " in their names, or excessive non-Latin characters in the first couple of letters to change so people can tag them.
