We're Going To Annihilate... [OOC]

| [member="Alen Na'Varro"] | [member="Ashin Varanin"] | [member="Aken Bosch"] |

Why have the two of you continued to post attacking and stating damage on the Obscurity, without checking in when I was replying? And in the case of Alen, why have you stated damage on the Obscurity, without taking into account the Marg Sabl maneuver in place, nor the subsequent fighter screens surrounding the vessel?

Forum roleplaying is turned based and it was my turn to reply next, so why have the two of you in particular continued to roleplay without me? Is it because Bosch was replying to you and vice versa?

In particular to writer of Ashin Varanin - I first checked in with you to ask when you were going to reply to the Annihilate thread because I had the common decency to do so. Why shouldn't I get the same behavior in return?

I never stated the damage to your ship, and if I did, it was a slip of wording. I stated that Ashin was assuming, based on all her knowledge of ship combat, that after a bombardment like that, she felt pretty comfortable in assuming that the Obscurity wasn't a factor anymore.

Here's why. I spent posts 32, 38, 41, and part of 45 bombarding your light star destroyer with eighty energy torp launchers and ten heavy energy torp launchers from outside your weapons range. That's OOC time. As far as IC time goes, you sat there and performed a Marg Sabl closure maneuver without the closure, but made no attempt to evade my fire or close to response range, for as long as it took for an entire reinforcement fleet to arrive. We're talking hundreds upon hundreds of shots, each equivalent to a proton torpedo or an assault concussion missile. (I'll note that the bombardment first hit, and continued for many lines of your own dialogue, and for the launch of your entire fighter complement, before you raised shields.)

I wouldn't have put it this bluntly if you hadn't complained so publicly, but you made a really, really bad call as a shiphandler, and as a result, my character and I both felt pretty safe in assuming that the Obscurity was no longer a viable factor in the fight. Because by any rational standard, your ship is absolutely dead, was even before Ashin fired on Bosch, and should have a note to that effect in its tech submission.

To sum up: You made no move to enter weapons range of me while you had the capability to do so. You lost that capability when you sat there and took wave after wave of energy torpedos without acknowledging damage or even impact. The Obscurity's actions could not have been factors. You were out of the fight and I was fighting Bosch, at least until the second reinforcement fleet arrived. Feel free to request RPJ mediation should you prefer, but I suspect you'll find that any reasonable third party will tell you that you got yourself killed and just weren't acknowledging it, and that I was within my rights to move me and my people on to the party that was actually in a position to be capable of fighting.

I think that about covers my opinion on this. I'll be out for the night and have no more intention of responding here, unless requested by a staffer.

You're absolutely correct. You did state damage and I know that from experience as a fleeter for several years, I know how to take a hit. My point was that you stated these posts without a response from me; and said posts occurred after other players in the thread posted their reply.

The reason why [member="Malus"] never moved the Obscurity to engage the Chimaera is because it would of suffered a lot more damage before it got in range to fire upon your vessel; and when the Obscurity is in range to fire on the Chimaera, so are the other armaments your ship has. It isn't a sound strategy to put my boat in a position to get further owned. Marg Sabl is a valid manuever in such cases. The underbelly of a Star Destroyer is more heavily fortified than other areas of the ship. There is more hull to take the damage being sustained on the vessel; and I had my starfighters ready to ambush the Chimaera, if it decided to capitalize on it's advantage and blow the Obscurity out of the water by getting the rest of it's armament in range to take out my ship.

Again, my problem wasn't with you shooting my ship out of the water, metaphorically speaking. If that is what happens, then that is what happens. But you posting responses without waiting for a reply from me and then subsequently telling me "That's fair game" doesn't actually make it fair game. Hell, 24 hours hadn't passed before you did these replies and that is the core problem with my issue currently with the thread. You know me better than to put my fingers in my ears and scream "blah blah blah" when it comes to roleplay. If I lose, I lose and I don't have a problem with that.

I made this OOC thread because there have been issues that have come up before and here in a public medium, they can be sorted out fairly. Now, if you want to make a response to this post over PM, no problem.

Technically, the Obscurity was being brought in under charges of desertion. Bosch's reserve fleet was the first requested to come, then came Corey's fleet(the actual sector fleet). I wouldn't really call either "reinforcements."

Pretty sure that is what the process of 1. PM your partner -> 2. request an RPJ, is for. Public debates of private matters never accomplish anything but public butthurt and private repercussions. I know it's tempting to believe that the masses will hear your plea, take your side, and cry "Off with their head!". But in find that conviction personally to simply be an abuse of creating negative peer pressure and mobilizing mob tactics. It's not a dignified format to resolve a personal issue. :(
