A blatant trap.

The only area not guarded by enemy forces, directly corresponding to the coordinates found on the Holonet. It was too convenient. So much so that it made her skin crawl and every fibre in her body beg to seek another way forwards. Yet it was what the Supreme Leader had ordered. That she take a team and find the stronghold of their newest enemy, the one who dared strike them at Alexandria. She'd found it. Samka had wished to delay the operation for longer yet a sudden spur of activity by other galactic powers said that they must strike now or not at all. It couldn't be left entirely for Jedi to take the glory of vengeance.

Or the valuable weaponry these machines may posses.

So she had to walk into the trap. There was no other option.

The Knights of Ren remained, for now, separate from the others moving into the tunnels. At first Samka had hidden and let the others spring any potential ambush that might be lurking but all seemed quiet for now. Eventually, she signalled for the others to follow her lead.

"Alright," Samka's voice distorted by the helmet which hid her face. She spoke rhythmically, almost sing-song in delivery, but there was no hiding the coldness in her tone. "These machines have sealed their fate from which there can be no escape. By the time the day is done, we shall have crushed them and can resume our focus on more pressing conflicts." The young Ren gazed deep into the foreboding tunnel before them. "We won't be alone in there, I can feel them. Not just the machines, we have other foes too. Don't assume every Jedi is our enemy but a great many are. Anyone you recognise as having impeded our progress before, crush them swiftly. No mercy for any enemy of the First Order, be they man or machine."

Samka straightened her leather gloves and made to move into the tunnel when another landing craft came in to land.

"Drat," the girl mumbled beneath her breath, her instinct to run in now to remain largely undetected. Until she recognised a presence in the ship.

If her face could be seen, a single, sharply raised eyebrow would be displayed on her features. Samka stood with her arms resting on her hips, somewhere between curiosity and exasperation as the ship's occupants emerged. The first, [member="Tmoxin Temi"], Samka didn't recognise but the second she certainly did. [member="Kyrel Ren"].

Samka stood silently and patiently, awaiting the man's explanation for his separate arrival.

“Holy Gah-.” Pom Stych Tivé had gaped at the presence of the Sith among the Order. The Sorceress, living her young adult life mostly in exclusion up to this point, had met Vereshin who introduced her to the Sith during this quest. It seemed important to her. Some thing is threatening all organic life? Why it might try and devour the organics she uses daily. She would not have something going around harming the ecosystem she relies on in any fashion. She felt the Force heavily veiled amidst the presence of the Sith, as she found it to be emitting on an increasing scale from Vereshin. It was suffocating to be among them. It was absolutely splendid an experience. She basked in it. And his comrades did not appear to harbor any notion of intent to kill her, so that was also pleasant!

She walked among the assortment of individuals, her typical feeling as one out of place. They had their armor, cool weapons, fashioned by mechanisms and muli people before they obtained them or constructed their parts. Pomsty held her creep out factor entirely on a different scale. She donned herself all in obsidian from head to toe. Everything she brought with her, she had toiled over and fashioned by her own hands. Everything she used for Sorcery organic, relics of flesh and bone, or metal and crystals. She was armed with her apothecary, her religion. Her shield existed through the whispers of those unseen by eyes of the living, her demons and minions. Should she ever catch on to the hype and spark an interest in modern weaponry, this Sorceress could be so much more than the legendary creepy witch who lives in the woods.

“Go in there? Why? Shouldn't whatever is in there come out here for us in time?” She obviously hated the idea of entering the unknown, but she followed. Not her best decision yet. Then the transport ships were exploded, so maybe not her worst decision, to at least move out of the reach of canon fire. “They are luring us like cattle.” Her best decision, at least she thought so at the time, would be to save some of the oily sludge that rained down upon the lot of them as she drew it from her patent leather hat and trench coat. She wanted to test it for its chemical construct, afterall it might be a worthy potion component. Ancient things are often found to be comprised of components more pure than those today effected by mass populations, or maybe be of something lost to modern day mechanics. She capped the draught within a crudely fashioned vile tightly with a cork and slid it into her vest pocket.

She allowed those more experienced in scouting, to scout, and those who lead to lead the group. She herself reached out and felt around herself, some mighty alien sensations from those who were called Jedi. They baffled her the most. She reached beyond. How would one psychically sense a mere contraption, a machine? Whispers of warning from her protectors tried to convey a message, and define what they could not explain for lack of previous encounter. All she could decipher for sure, is that people must pursue and prevail, for all the galaxy is in danger of termination.

"So...where might the energy source be; anyone?" she asked the group. "Batteries have to charge." Chances are, if they could find the power sorce they could stop traps from charging up.

"Thing is, Sir, we're soldiers. We don't take up arms assuming we'll live to see tomorrow, not in a galaxy like this. We fight fully expecting death to come for us when it's most inconvenient, and ultimately when we're least prepared for it. But we fight things that can be shot, people, droids, beasts, if you give us soldiers a target we can fight it. But I have the suspicion this... 'machine' isn't so simple, and oh too real. That is why I am requesting permission to investigate myself, with whatever allies we can muster, to tend to it directly."

The older man behind the desk seemed to take an eternity pondering her words, as she stood at attention. One could feel the tension as she nervously waited for the go ahead, or the denial.

"Permission Granted, High Colonel Vass. Do the Empire proud."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Being in the back part of a group had benefits. There were a good number of people between her and most of the drones that released goo everywhere. The paranoid woman had voiced objections to this poorly veiled 'mistake' in a droid installation, but perhaps she had been drowned out by everyone. Still, it wasn't like they had much choice, her words had been more 'stating the obvious' and warning caution than anything. Assuming anyone had actually heard her, of course. So when the drones arose, the woman had moved quickly, ducking down and covering herself with her cloak cape, praying whatever was spewed wouldn't land on her skin. Granted, her suit was sealed, but it would still be annoying to keep out of her. For the most part she felt as though she succeeded, and she quickly removed her cloak when she stood up straight, shaking what she could off of it before returning it to her shoulders.

She wasn't quite aware of where the gunk had managed to land, she thought she felt something splatter on her hands, the back of her leather gloves specifically, but she wasn't certain. Anything not filled with the force was hard to see, even the droids were only echos of energy to her. However she had little time to ponder, as the group continued on, arriving at a fork in the road. She huffed a bit, kneeling down in the center and focusing. Since connecting more openly with the force, she was growing ever stronger. Though certainly not an apprentice yet, her affinity for her sight was entirely natural...

"I may not be a master, but neither path feels overly safe compared to the other. Perhaps it is simply me having difficulty sensing the droids. Either way, Sir droid (@HK-36), we cannot linger. Whatever is going on, time is not on our side. Perhaps a suggestion of chance." She shouldered her sniper rifle, and pulled a small chance cube from her pocket. "Blue we go left, red we go right. We're likely to face opposition one way or another, we'll remain cautious either way we take. There's little point standing around waiting to be found, unless anyone else present has more insight than me?" Regardless, she turned her head to the droid and tossed him the chance cube to use if he desired.

The Miraluka's helmet, void of any visor, and its design of a cruel monstrous mouth, certainly looked somewhat stark in contrast to the remainder of her leather and phrick armor, even as she pulled the face mask portion of her cloak up over the 'mouth'. She certainly seemed to invest in styling quite a lot for a blind woman. And carry quite the sniper rifle as well... which she was steadily returning to both hands as she took up a position alongside door #2, in case something came down from it. Door #1 already had individuals taking their choice, might as well have a guard stationed for the other while the path was chosen.

Jessica stood in the room with two doors. She saw the others and the others saw her. The light and the dark. The neutral and the uncaring. Together at the fore and poised for whatever chaos came next. And yet. The Force. That same energy gesturing to her that a greater concern would occupy them all in due time. All in due course.

And so, she waited.

Garbbed in her brown Gems Coat and with only her silver blue saber to ward her. The Jedi Master of the Silver Order waited. Even with her dark helmet half covered in goop. With no escape and with no answers to protect her. She waited. Reaching out with her feelings. Deep, deep into the void.

Jessica stood in the room with two doors. Where their grand new adventure was just beginning.

With a hand resting gently around the shoulder of the beautiful Sorceress, Vereshin protected her with sharp eyes from the surrounding Sith. The healer treated after over-exerting his powers on one occasion and performed her task dutifully. An alchemist, intelligent, cautious and darkly, the young woman caught his eye in ways beyond her talent in the arcane. An obsidian ring sat on his finger behind her back, beneath his long black coat and buckled boots. He wore a black shirt with a standing collar and around it hung an obsidian crystal which fell over the double breast of his coat. The little woman stood closely beside them as the Sorcerers prepared for their arcane front.

Like all the Sith present, Vereshin arrived to bring a swift end to the droid insurgency and investigate the malignant presence seeping from the facility. They moved into the corridor and great cacophony resonated from where they entered. The transport destroyed, the insurgency cornered them within the facility and forced them to press forward. At the sound of the explosion, Vereshin's heart rose into his throat and he felt his grip on Pom's shoulder tighten. He turned his head back around and moved forward into the darkness. Wires covered the looming entrance and the smell of droid oil and fuel crowded the space.

"Be on your guard, make no sudden movements to avoid detection." He leaned in closely to Pom and whispered. Glossy sludge now poured down from the ruptured machinery and quicker than a second, Vereshin raised his palms and conjured a shield of thick energy to protect them both. He smiled in delight as he watched Pom scurry to collect the substance for potions. While primarily a magus, he leaned closer to science than the occult and found the disposition of the witch charming. The Sith soon broke away to leave Vereshin with Pom and the sorcerer peeled his senses for a source of the transmission. Detecting force energy was one thing he could, not energy travelling from a electrical device.

Listening to the drone of the machinery and the hum of the wires, Vereshin left Pom's side as he strode towards the wall and pressed an air against the thick cords. He tried to detect any vibrations through the Force, trailing his hand across the wire and sensing any empty space behind the wall. The matter dispersed and became light and he detected the end of the wall to make way for an empty corridor. The electric current came to an end before the wide space and he quickly grabbed Pom's hand.

"Follow me directly, do not let go." Taking a deep breath, he felt the woman close in behind him as he placed a palm against the wall. He breached the mass before them and concentrated on the dispersed the fabric of the wall separating them between the next hallway. Taking a step forward, he stepped directly through the wall and lead Pom with him as the sturdy material dissipated in a surge of black smoke. They strode without effort a sprawling hall, the spacious air feeling welcome on both of their faces. Vereshin gripped both of the woman's hands in excitement and turned around to give her a gleeful smile. He only tried the technique in practice and had never put it to proper use. Red lights coursed down the gathering wires across the walls as the electric pulse grew stronger with the muted hum.

Kurayami had been kicking back in his office at Nubia StarDrives, sipping on a bottle of namana nectar as he went over expense reports and saw that his latest project had finally received the all clear from the accounting division. He sent the order to the shipyards to start construction immediately. Deciding to take a break after a long day of mind-numbing, if essential, business he switched over to an encrypted channel and began browsing the Holonet, just checking to see what was going on in the galaxy. An Odd signal was being talked about on a few of the message boards that usually had to do with some conspiracy theory or another. It seemed that it was just a set of astrogational coordinates with a message underneath. His eyebrows furrowed in thought as he read it and sat letting his mind wander over the possibilities presented by this odd message. Either it was someone's idea of a creepy story, a prank, or the slight chance that it was legitimate.

It was that last possibility that worried him most. He had decided to suit up in his Aquila armored flight suit and copied the coordinates and message. He began a holonet search for any mention of the cryptic message and soon found that there were some odd happenings around where the coordinates pointed to. He was going to see what exactly this was all about. He was sure many others would also be headed to see just what this "Machine" was. He wasn't going to bring as much weaponry on this go as normal, instead settling on the two Punisher revolvers that he had purchased from Ardgal sometime ago. He made sure to grab plenty of HEIAP rounds, ion rounds, and a decent supply of 40 mm grenades for the underbarrel launchers. The pistols were holstered on either hip, and behind the holster on his left sat Jenni's old saber.

It seemed like forever ago he had left the comfort of his office for the less than roomy conditions on this stealth shuttle. He took the ride to perform basic maintenance on his chosen weapons, loading the revolvers as he heard the call that they were approaching the LZ. He sealed the helmet to his flightsuit, taking a deep breath as the world went black while all the sensors came online. He made no attempt to hide the fact that he was a Force user, he saw no reason to do so any longer. He stood as the shuttle set down with a subtle bounce. He wasn't in a hurry to depart, waiting until those who were overeager were already offloaded, following at a casual pace. It was not in an attempt to make himself seem jaded or detached, he was watching his scanners as each different spectrum sent torrents of data through the HUD, the bioscanners showing relatively few other lifeforms nearby. Nothing of such from The Machine in front of the assembled group. It was clear that not only were Jedi here, there were plenty of Dark siders gathered as well. He had no qualms about working with either side as long as they kept to their side of the deal. Perhaps even the Sith could be persuaded to work alongside the Light for a short time. At least until this threat could be eliminated. He would not be the one to start such a dialogue, but if it were presented as an option he would voice his support of such.

A maintenance tunnel, that was the single undefended area on this monstrosity. Of course it was. That would be the entrance for everyone, and it didn't seem to be very spacious given its intended purpose was not to allow infiltration teams in. Then again such was true about most entrances in the galaxy. He simply fell in line and follwed the others into the innards of the Machine. It wasn't long before the first droids showed up. The audio enhancers in his helmet picked up a sound that was usually indicative of bad times ahead. Not far in front of him, he heard someone tell any who could hear them to get down. Kurayami had just lowered his head and was almost fully down when the droids self destructed and released...oil? Is that what this black stuff was? Thankfully it didn't seem to cause harm to his armor, it just felt wrong. Utilizing a bit of telekinesis he pushed the black substance off of himself and to the floor as he followed the others further in. It wasn't as though there was any other choice given that their ride had been shot down as they tried to high tail it out. He sighed as they entered a hallway with two doors. This was just krffing fantastic, he was sure neither door hid a fun surprise behind it.

As the thought crossed his mind he saw one man in black beskar'gam wander through the first door. Behind his helmet his eyes narrowed slightly. It didn't make sense to wander off in the guts of a Machine no one knew the layout of or what purpose it was for other than 'punish all organic life' apparently. Oh well, it was his mistake to make. Kurayami turned his attention to the discussions around him simply listening for now. If any recognized his aura or asked him directly for input he would respond, but until then he had nothing useful to add as of now.

    Objectives: Eliminate All Threats

The supposed "leak" had reached the upper echelons of the Shrouded Republic through the nomadic fleet's extensive intelligence network. The Shrouded, under the command of Kainan Wolfe, had taken an interest in the Contingency after the events at Far Harbor, where an agent named Sapphire had attempted to coerce the station's visitors into joining their mysterious faction. The Lord of Shrouds, himself a master manipulator, had been unimpressed by what he considered to be their amateurish attempts to convince people to support their cause. Likewise, he could see through their current ploy as well. The data which the Shrouded Republic had surprisingly not been much, but a pattern seemed to emerge. The Contingency would lure people they had taken an interest in, to a location, then attempt to force them to join their cause under the threat of death. The reason for this, as well as the criteria they used to select their persons of interest, remained unknown, however.

This was too big a threat to ignore, however, despite being an obvious trap. If this Contingency had some kind of superweapon at its disposal, which the so-called "leak" suggested, then they had to be prevented from using it at any cost. There was also an opportunity, here. A chance to seize the day which, if taken, would change the course of the galaxy. It was decided that in this situation, fortune favors the bold.

A plan had been secretly formulated. The Lord of Shrouds would join the infiltration team along with some of his best agents, to enter this facility and neutralize the threat. Wolfe also had another agenda of his own, which he had not shared with anyone so far and would only do so at the right moment.

As the cloaked shuttle deposited the infiltration team within the belly of the facility, Wolfe followed the diverse group in and cursed under his breath when the departing shuttles were destroyed by the facility's defenses. In truth, he had expected something like that to happen, given the Contingency's previous actions, but he had hoped their ships would have escaped notice. Now, there was no other way to go, but forward.

Wolfe lifted his slugthrower rifle up as the swarm of drones appeared out of nowhere, then swiftly shielded his eyes with his left hand as they exploded, covering everyone in black goo, prompting another silent obscenity from the warlord. Whatever this substance was, he concluded that they had to get it off as soon as possible. So he opened the first aid kit he had brought along, then tore a strip of bandage which he used to scrub off the foul ichor as well as possible, given the circumstances. Whatever the purpose of this substance was, he did not want to experience it on his own skin.

He found himself agreeing with the droid and with Razel Kolt, one of his fellow faction members. "This is an obvious trap and given how the Contingency has operated in the past, we can expect that they'll do everything within their power to isolate us and pick us apart one by one," he said. Checking his weapons one by one, he continued "If we split up, we die. Stick together and we might have a chance. Mister Kolt, Formorta, take position on either side of me. Weapons free, you may fire at will."

As if to prove the point, the warlord took position in the front row, slugthrower rifle trained on the darkness in front of him, safety off and ready to unleash a hailstorm of projectiles at anything that they would run into.

He should have known things would end up this way.

The Contingency were powerful, possessing resources and technology beyond that of the other major players in the galactic field. But in their position of power they fell victim to the one vice that befalls many in similar positions: they grew comfortable. Cocky. They had been stirring up trouble all over the galaxy, and as they failed to be defeated, they grew arrogant. These "pitiful organic parasites" didn't stand a chance, they thought. And they were right, at first. They surprised everyone, and fighting them proved to be a problematic task. But with every appearance they made, with every action they took, they revealed a bit more about themselves. Yes, the Contingency were powerful. But the arrogance, the pride they lauded upon themselves, it would all come back to haunt them in ways they couldn't even begin to fathom. In previous encounters the Contingency had attacked factions individually, striking from the shadows. But now, with the combined might of the galaxy standing all around him, Lark thought maybe they stood a chance.

He wanted to gag just thinking about it.

Lark despised the fact that fighting alongside the Jedi and the rest of their hopelessly naive, callow ilk was necessary in order to even stand a chance against the Contingency. But for the time being he would put whatever malicious intent he harbored for them away, now was not the time. The masses that landed in hopes of taking down the Contingency had already seemed to sector off into different groups, planning their next moves. But Lark was all to familiar with the way the Contingency operated, he had been ensnared in their games many a time already. They were nothing but puppets for the moment, and the only precautions one could take would be to mentally prepare oneself for whatever trap sprung first.

In this case, it was a slimy, dark ooze that rained down from some source up above. It covered all those wandering below like a gloss, and Lark couldn't help but laugh. Was it oil, or something else? "Do they think to stop me by setting me ablaze?" They would have to remain disappointed. He had survived being alight with hellish fire before.

The Contingency, for all of their prowess, had made one apocalyptic fault: They had made any enemy out of Lark. And he would strike back with a wrathful vengeance.

Contacted by The Silver Jedi? Check. Going on risky mission? Check. Infiltrating a base that was clearly a trap? Check. Sighing I'd departed the dropship and been activating the charge on my weapons when a barrage of missiles destroyed the dropship. Our only way of this rock.....Fierfeck. Should've expected that....as the entry team breached the door I'd stood back a bit people through the breach first were always the first to die in the holovids. As it was I was incredibly thankful I'd come decked out in my full Vespera Beskar'gam. Once the first team had breached there'd been drones that had destroyed themselves and coated everyone in at least some of this thick black goop.

Lovely, opening the container of sand on my belt I used The Force and simply sanded it off my armor. I'd have to repaint later. Channeling the sand back into the container I simply unlocked the magnetic clamps holding my weapons locked in place. Shouldering my Omen blaster rifle I simply headed down the halls with the holographic display of a smiling revolutionary in place. Not exactly like I knew any of these people but I'd come due to info from Celiana. She'd also said there was one of the Masters she'd trained with coming along. Guess at least I was in trustworthy company....making my way away from the others I headed to an open room with two doors I saw what appeared to be a woman with a dark helm and a brown coat. The saber hadn't escaped my attention either, clearing my throat I announced my presence "Ma'am mind if I join you? You seem a capable sort and the saber speaks to your status as a Jedi I was hired by the Silver Order so at least I'd be in company that I could somewhat trust."

I knew Sith were here, I knew their tendencies, I knew a person in full Beskar would draw attention and odds were I'd be either attacked or someone would try offering me something. As it was I was loyal to who'd recruited me for this mission. I knew murderous sentient machines were involved, I knew that "All organic life was to be processed" I wasn't okay with that. The rest? I'd learn as I went I supposed.

This...contingency... it brought anya to actually stop and think about it...they'd made themselves and their intentions known through the galaxy in the most horrific way...they wanted organic to be wiped out, no this wouldn't happen not if anya could raise her blade. She had a family to protect

She wasn't given orders to go, she was going to head to these coordinates she had found herself, she wouldn't be alone as she was taking a death trooper and his squad...one who she had witnessed in battle and she knew was battle proven

DT-2417, get your squad geared up and report to platform 3-A for briefing and boarding

Her words were neutral, what information she gathered had worried her...but maybe if they could stop this madness...she could sleep knowing peace was there from a greater threat. Before she left hiwever she left a message to those who knew her well

to all those that read this, I'm not sure I'm coming back. This is a battle that is greater then anything I've done...i want all of my family to know you've been the best...my the force save all..

She left it to be read on case of her death as she waited on the platform, when the squad came she briefed them quickly

not gonna lie, this will be the biggest mission of your lives, we've received coordinates for a location we suspect is the heart of this contingency that's threatening our empire. We are heading there to investigate and eliminate it, that is all. Now get to the ship!

She ordered as she went then stopped...she was smart but no medic and from what she saw before...even if she gritted her teeth at this...she sent a message to [member="Ailuros"] to be geared up and to the shop within 15 minutes when she arrived she glared at her before sighing

listen I hate cats and I'm killing myself inside telling you to join...but you've better medical experience then i...get on

She said and turned as she ordered the pilot to lift off and start towards the coordinates

Hours later...

They arrived and landed, she ordered for everyone to disembark as she walked out armor on saber in hand a s-she looked around the jungle awaiting the others to be at her side....sowmthing about this place she jist wanted to turn away and run...run far but no...no...determj action would guide her

When the Rishi situation happened, Ailuros had been one of the first to respond to it. What she had found confused her and that was that. Nothing had ever been discovered of what had happened and those unanswered questions remained. Returning then to her duties, Ailuros carried on.

To her surprise, a message and order was given to her by Anya Malvern. Their one meeting had been almost hostile, but they were on the same team and worked together then. Obviously she saw the benefit of doing it again. Gathering up her uniform and belt, she reached the ship, gave Anya a salute and listened to the admission she made.

Giving her a formal and polite salute, Ailuros went to speak, but was ordered onto the ship.

The trip was pretty silent and Ailuros went over the reports they had been given. Climbing off the ship, double checking to make sure she had everything, the cat followed Anya off the ship. Whatever was here, was out to get them and that needed to be stopped.

Mishel had accompanied her master and several others to the remote location. After her experiences on Rishi, and the attack on Alexandria she supposed it was only a matter of time before they would find a way to strike back. Mežsrožu lurked within her mind, the devoted woman who would do anything to expand her father's influence. The teenager took a deep breath and exhaled she knew why they were there and only wished she had said something to Samka earlier about Rishi. Rishi had been on her way back home from Ossus, and it was only one of her stops, she'd returned home to Monastery where her mother [member="Hazel Zanteres"] resided. The teenager was a walking hypocrite she knew, but shrugged it off and as she listened to her master speak her attention was drawn to the presence she felt.

Tmoxin.

The girl smiled and gave a slight bow, "Ms. Temi, a pleasure to see you again." There was a slight curl in her lips as if the two had been acquainted before, and who was to say that the girl just wasn't being polite. After all - they had met on the floundering that had been Fleet Admiral Rausgeber's performance over Phu and Belgaroth. The Tygaran teenager said little else as she felt the eyes of others on her. Perhaps the youngest and most inexperienced of the group Mishel had to make the decision now, let loose Mežsrožu Ren upon the droids or rely on her own self-wit.

"Rishi."

She said almost out of the blue, "I encountered these droids on Rishi. I had stopped to resupply on the way home, I may have acquired a piece of technology and a way we can get in, maybe avoid the others." Unless of course, "or we can just kill them all, either way."

Mežsrožu Ren would be kept away for now, but it was only a matter of time before she would find her way out of the cage that Mishel had placed her in.

To say that Audren was still catching up would be quite accurate. The Sephi had been away from the galaxy at large for quite some time, and though rumors had reached his pointed ears he had not been involved in events to a large degree.

Before

The Master was working hard. Not in the martial or physical sense, there was no sweat involved. Nor in the business sense in any degree but tangentially related. No, he since he had returned to the galaxy at large he now needed to get an accurate history and figure out his place in the larger scheme of things. Having a factual knowledge of the status of the galaxy would help him figure out the next steps of his business as well as his next steps, which was really what he was going for.

Something that was coming up again and again - sometimes tangentially, other times not so much - was the mysterious message that had been found on the Holonet.

When he asked his cohorts about it, he received mixed answers. Information and rumors about a Contingency, holovids circulated, bits and pieces about attacks around the galaxy. Individually, each piece of information was worth little if anything. Taken all together, a rough picture was starting to emerge. Not a pretty picture either. Toss in the sense of impending something that he'd felt before, and the faintest hint of that when hearing the message, and the question of his involvement was answered.

When queried again, others reluctantly provided knowledge of a rendezvous with those who claimed to fight the Contingency and who claimed they were going to be taking steps in regards to the message. To Audren's dismay though, the only ship available was a freighter over a century older than him that was scheduled to be broken down for scrap. The Tarlanc was scheduled for something else and his fighter was too far away to get him there on time. It would be a long, uncomfortable journey.

Current

Fortunately for him, the fighters had provided dropships; his vessel wouldn't have been able to arrive undetected, even if it had made it groundside in one piece. The ships managed to stealthily slip past patrols and down to the platform outside a maintenance entrance, yet as they were taking off missile after missile slammed into the vessels, apparently no longer stealthed. There would be no reinforcements and no sure way off this planet, and this entrance may have ended up simply being an ambush point for the gullible who thought themselves clever. He was stuck here with an eclectic assortment of beings, some he knew and most he didn't. Jedi, Sith, other. They were all mixed into this party. Here was hoping none of them started killing the others; they had a common goal at this point.

Like so many of the others, Audren wore a set of personal armor. While clearly made of metal, the coating looked almost organic and the armor didn't gleam like it otherwise would have. At his right hip a lightsaber hung from his belt, while his left held a holstered sidearm. Sheathed at his back so as to be within easy reach but not impede him were two long daggers. Plus he carried fairly standard Jedi equipment like a comlink, grapple hook and line, datapad, etc. Well armed without being armed to the teeth like some of the others present.

The Jedi Master had gone in with the others he'd arrived with, near the middle of the group. Similarly with several other Force users, he'd sensed the oncoming not-quite-danger just before it became reality, and had created a Force-based shield to protect himself against whatever it was. His shield was woven of a number of individual strands of Force energy and as a result a couple spatters of the goo had gotten through and landed on his armor before the shield had finalized. It smelled horrendous, reminding him of how the building felt through the Force, and who knew what properties it had? A thought backed by the barest sliver of Force energy cleared what he was aware of off his armor. He didn't really like using the Force in such a way, but better safe than sorry in a case like this.

Silence returned as the group moved along, eventually coming to a room more brightly-lit than the hallway they'd been traveling through. At either end was a door, but there was no writing or other indication as to where either led. One of the people near the front immediately headed through the door on the right with weapon raised. The Sephi did not follow, did not head through the other door, but instead stopped with many of the others. At spoken request but without comment, he stretched out with the Force to try and get a sense of where to go. While he did so, another two turned and walked through the doors. Others peered through the doors as if trying to see through the darkness or prepare for monsters to come rushing out.

For his part, Audren would not simply toss his lot in with a particular group and follow them. He'd wait for potentially useful information; or if none was forthcoming, he would pick at random.

Jess nodded her helm to the iron soldier. She would accept him as the Force did. Freely. Without restraint.

"You may join us all, good soldier. Please... Stand at my side. ...And be ready. For what must surely come next."

Her voice was sweet and faintly carefree. An easy temptation to misjudge her sentinel form. Her regal posture. Her steady hands. A warrior's pose and a swift demand. No. No odd detail nor hidden whisper escaped her deadly poise. Here she was readied. Here she was calm.

The Force would make her free.

Jessica stood in a room with two doors. Jessica stood with Vikar.

((I'm bad ad Threads like this, tell me if I'm doing it wrong.))
Ra'lis Ironbeard losely followed the lightsiders, but kept to the edge. He wasn't there freind, not really. Just some extra firepower.

He'd only chosen the mission because if was to save the galaxy. Any other day, the Jedi wouldn't be his first choice.
Still, he'd hopefully get something to make his crew better out of this.

The captain saw a jedi straggleing behind, much like himself. His crew hadn't joined him this time, so he needed more help. He walked up to the Jedi.

"There's no use going in alone, even if you are the greatest force user ever seen. Need some extra firepower?"

Two days ago
Kiara

“Coordinates.” The girl said as her hand smacked a flimsy plastic note against the wooden table with a loud thud that almost threatened to break the table apart.

“Coordinates?” One of the gathered masters had asked. “Coordinates for what?”

“A trap.” Kaili would quickly follow up. “They are leading us in with curiosity.”

“And you are planning to…” Master Keer sounded most confused at what she was saying. Was the child actually going to risk herself like that?

“Yes.” Kaili confirmed.

“You can’t, you’ll die!” One of the other masters chimed up.

“I know, but this is a gamble I have to make.” Kaili looked over her shoulder and back towards the door. It wasn’t for herself in the end, not really. There were other reasons for a woman to go charging the organic-hating machines. “For Allyson, and everyone I hold close.”

The third master in the bunch groaned and stepped forward. “And you do realize it will all be in vain if you die.”

“Yes.”

He looked bewildered. “It’s your choice. We can’t stop you.”

“Pretyr!” The one woman in the group gave him an accusing glower. “She’s shown us she has good judgment once before. And she’s already fulfilled her promise to us.”

“... Master Bu, has a point.” Master Keer said and looked at Kaili. “The girl has served her purpose already. Staying has no further… Impact, so to speak.”

“Fine then. Let her die.” Master Pretyr threw his arms and shook his head. “See what happens when the machines eventually finds us here then.”

“We’ve kept our people safe before, we can trust in our abilities to continue and do so.” Keer gave him a stern glare and then turned back to Kaili. “You can, and probably should go. We can hold the fort until you return.”

Or not. The thought did linger on his mind, but Kaili took the shot to leave anyway.

The ship had long since touched ground. For the longest of times Kaili had stood and wondered what she would bring with her, but nothing actually struck her as the right thing to bring with. Her armor was a no-brainer, but a sense of unease had swept across her mind like a tidal wave that got worse the closer they had gotten to the system that the coordinates pointed to. With it came the rational paranoia that perhaps it was best to just leave most of her things behind, just in case. Gun belts, belts in general, and even more equipment that held computers or was too reliant on tech just felt, for a lack of better word, stupid. It was a fear that these droids had someone like herself working for them, a fear Kaili held more often than not when it came to conflict, and as such she would let all of it stay on her ship.

Eyes set on the holopad on her wrist and the constant stream of information it supplied her brain with. The locking mechanism at the top of her wrist clicked open. The device shut itself down and she discarded it on her dresser. The buzz in her mind stopped and the sense of unease that she felt was hard to even describe.

“Bring your gun, your armor, and nothing else.” Kaili said and turned over towards Allyson. “Or leave, if you want. I…” Kaili inhaled for a moment and followed it up with a sharp exhale. “I wouldn’t blame you if you did.”

“But I need to do this, and I need to know why we were all sent here.”

“For our sake. For organics too, I guess.”

Tempest followed behind Nima. She too wore sealed armour, and so the liquid could find no purchase on her. She created her own barrier to keep it at bay and followed the Twi’lek onwards.

She had not had the opportunity to engage this ‘Contingency’ yet, but she had heard much from Nima, Tegaea and others who had. Evil genocidal droids, but clearly not Archangel. A new force in the galaxy.

Where this would take her she did not know, but she kept her lightsabre close at hand, watching the backs of her companions. She was glad Nima had taken charge on this mission – it’d let her focus more on watching all their backs….

Location: Divergent Chamber, Contingency Facility
Team: Lightsiders
Objective: Provide support as engineer and try not to get in the way.

Summary of Actions:
  • Had a panic attack, then calmed down
  • Checked his equipment (blaster rifle, tools, explosives)
  • Joined a team and prepared to move

'What have I done?' Zai thought to himself, fighting down a wave of panic. 'Why did I choose to come here?' He was pressed into the corner of the chamber as more and more of the assault force pushed in. They had halted here; there seemed to be some sort of debate about how they should approach the fork. They were an eclectic bunch, comprised of people from all over the galaxy. Zai felt very small in presence of such individuals. There were heroes here as well as villains, conquerors, murderers, healers and peacekeepers. The tension in the air was palpable. Everyone was united by a common goal, but it was a tenuous alliance.

Once again, he asked himself why he had joined in. Maybe it was the call for adventure. Maybe it was revenge for Rishi, his homeworld. Maybe it was because he was sick of watching from the sidelines. The reason didn't matter. He was here, and he was terrified. His armour was light and in poor quality, unlikely to stop much more than a few shots. His blaster rile was simple, unmodified. His most prized possession was a pack full of tools and explosives. He knew his combat skills were limited, but maybe he could help dismantle this 'machine'.

He tried to clean some of the gunk off of pack, without much success. Parts of his clothes were covered in the black ooze as well. Thankfully none had landed on his face or in his hair. He let out a sigh, performing a final check on his equipment and standing up. He approached one of the teams, and prepared to move out.

A suprised scream escaped Aster's lips as the small drones suddenly emerged, erupting in shrill beeps and sullied those in the room with a strange black substance. "Ugh," she muttered in disgust, wiping the liquid from her face and belongings, annoyed that they had been dirtied.

"Are you alright pri-," the Vice Commander of the Wolfsglaive paused to correct himself. "Are you alright Aster?"

"Yes, I was just a little surprised," the teenager replied, her eyes drawn to the beguiling light that seemed to be inviting her to follow it.

Sensing her intentions, the Vice Commander placed a firm hand on her shoulder, ready to stop her. "Aster," he frowned. "Stay behind me," he ordered. As one of her sworn protectors, he was duty-bound to ensure her safety.

"Okay," Aster agreed and followed the man towards the light into a larger room with two diverging paths.

"You, investigate the first path and you, investigate the second," the Vice Commander ordered the two members of the Wolfsglaive he had brought with him.

Acknowledging the order with a silent nod of their heads, the two members of the Wolfglaive set down their assigned paths, their fingers on the trigger of their blasters.

The minute the ramp dropped down, slamming against the surface, Darth Venefica emerged in the doorway with her hands firmly grasped together behind her back. The black, red flecked eyes of the Swamp Witch surveyed the area, focusing intently on the facility to her left, almost seeing the aura of foreboding radiating off the structure.
With a slight huff, she slowly walked down the ramp, her bare feet slapping hard against the metal, grated walkway. Upon touching the surface, she quickly noticed several footprints in various sizes in the surface, all pointing to the lone door to the facility. With a small shake of her head, she too headed to the lone door, eagerly anticipating to discover answers to the numerous questions that plagued the galaxy under this veil of mystery.
The door opened before her, by it's own accord.
With a slight smile on her face, she stepped into the facility and began walking down the dimly illuminated hallway. The Force alerted her to several other persons already scampering through the facility, each also in pursuit of answers. The Jedi were here, and more would be coming no doubt. The self-proclaimed guardians of the galaxy wouldn't miss this for any reason, and the idea she may be thrown into working with them held no opinion with her.
She stopped her advance, closing her eyes with the hope the Force would act as her guide; but nothing pinged. Shaking her head, she continued down the hallway with the fate of the galaxy firmly in the hands of those that answered the challenge, and those willing to go beyond the limits of their own morals; cause if victory was to be had, morals must be cast aside, even for the Jedi.
