[THEME]

All was silent in the halls of the Imperial research facility, emergency lights casting an eerie red hue over the grey durasteel and almost concealing the occasional splatters of blood across the metal. The tension-filled air was only exemplified when shuffling could be heard in the parts of the facility that were covered in pure darkness, almost as if someone or something was dragging itself against the floor. The silence was broken at random, abandoned test tubes bubbling over or containers tipping onto the floor.

Boisterous banging emanated from behind locked bulkheads, clanging could be heard from within sinisterly-black vents. If one were to listen closely, they could hear a collection of groans sounding over everything else.

Something happened to a secret Imperial site on Rishi's moon, something was alive down there.

Something that shouldn't be.

----------
After the unexplained incident on Rishi that involved all droids in the proximity of Raider's Cove turning on their masters, the Imperial government had been tied up in rebuilding what damage had been caused to the city and the space stations that had been above it when a mysterious signal was broadcasted from an island a short distance away. So much so that nobody, at least those who knew of its existence, noticed that the facility on the tropical planet's barren moon had ceased transmitting, an ominous sign that had only been discovered a week later.

With the Grand Moff predisposed with the coming war against the Silver Jedi Order, the Emperor himself had taken a personal interest in the affairs involving this 'Contingency', so much so that he dispatched the Empire's finest to the moon to 'take care' of matters that had conveniently been left out of the group's briefing. Three shuttles, one being of Lambda-class and two being Sentinel-class, approached an abandoned landing platform and set down.

While a platoon of stormtroopers and a squadron of AT-STs disembarked from the latter, the heroes of the Empire would soon come out to discover a blood-smeared platform, as if there was a great battle there.

But where were the bodies?

This would be her first assignment as the high inquistor, she was not gonna complain, she was better off in the field then setting inside on a data pad...it was hardwired in her brain to kill...to destroy those that threaten her peace by whatever means necessary

It came to no surpirse she was put in what seemed like a easy mission, simply go check out a outpost that was giving off a signal. No big nothing hard. Minute the door opened she looked around seeing the blood smears as she glanced before speaking to no one in particular

either someone's a neat freak about bodies or they simply got up and walked away

Unknown to her...that was the case

Prepare for your... examination.
It seemed Rishi was a common place of adventure for Lab, first a deep space Miners horror attack the space station, and next all the robots go haywire while she was at the hospital, now it would seem the Twi'lek doctor was being pulled into another unnatural occurrences.

She had been brought because of her close proximity to the outpost as well as her medical skill if said station had been attacked, though the true could not be any worse. The amount of blood smeared on the walls was a bit sickening, but she had seen much worse, the question was what happened to the bodies.

Lab crouched down near a pool of blood, her eye scanner analyzing it, "This blood is fresh, but there is something.... strange about it, I would need to do further test to determine anything but I have a feeling we do not have a lot of time on her hand". Short wave biomedical scans were not picking up anything either, it was as if the crew imploded or some thing.

Stepping down off the Lambda Shuttle, Ice's eyes scanned the area around him while he stuck close to the High Inquisitor. Blood was smeared all over the platform floor, nearby walls being just as decorated. This was an unusual assignment for him; so far, he'd been sent in alone or accompanying Stormtroopers - the most recent assignment being an exception. For this, however, he was assigned to the new High Inquisitor. Perhaps this was more of a learning experience for him, but he had suspicions regarding it.

He knew the Shadowguard was looking for prospects, and that his skill with a lightsaber had been noted. What better way to see if he was capable of guarding the Grand or High Inquisitors than to simply send him along with one? He'd grown to understand the need to accept his place for now; his power would swell and grow, then he would be eventually rewarded.

The blood did seem odd, though. He had seen the look of when a body had been dragged, and these certainly hadn't. Splashes of bloods seem to indicate either spurts of blood from a wound or something being torn; neither were good. "Moved with the force, perhaps." He kept his observances to a minimum; force users could easily be on this lab, even if none had been posted. He had found they were much more common than he previously believed.

Focusing for a moment, Varik reached out, trying to feel for something, anything that he could sense that would give an indication, or perhaps a clue as to what happened. He primarily tried to feel for any presence in the force; perhaps if it did not show him the crew, it could show him their attacker. Whatever it showed him, he was confident that he was ready for it.

Inferno One watched as the drop Bay doors to their Lambda class shuttle opened up. The Inquisitor’s had arrived shortly before the navies elite squadron. A small amount of data had been gathered… Enough to know that Inferno could be dropping into a war zone. So, they acted as if they were under fire and this was a combat drop. They repelled from the drop bay doors quickly, with Desmond being the last one out. Verpine Rifles raised, Specter, Phantom, Ghost and Ghoul secured the landing platform. Desmond raised his own Verpine pistol and scanned the surrounding landscape with his cybernetic HUD. No friendly IFF signatures were detected, in fact no life signs were detected at all.

Confident the area was secure Inferno One regrouped in the center of the platform. Before giving orders Desmond stooped low to assess some of the blood that was evidently every where…

“Specter how long does it take blood to coagulate?” Desmond said to the trooper quietly.

“About half an hour sir,” Specter replied diligently.

“The assault team was sent in hours before us and this blood is still fresh,” Desmond pursed his lips in thought “Come on boys let’s see what the Inquisitor have to say about-“ Desmond’s words were interrupted as he entered a vicious coughing fit.

“You alright sir?” Phantom said as he approached his commander, arm extended.

“It’s nothing, just a cold probably. Let’s move men,”

Call-sign Pestilence Actual
Post One
Objective: Assist VIPs with search of AO.

Unknowingly to this whole operation, the new meaning was about to meet its forefathers. The very source of where the dreaded name of the black-clad troopers originated from. Unbeknownst to them all, whatever horrors they had endured over their lifetime, nothing was going to prepare them for this. A dissent into a twisted reality that had for the most part been kept as a myth that most of the galaxy seemed all too willing to forget. What was held within these walls would make forgotten heroes or broken shells. Only time would tell which of these were forged in the facility formerly for the betterment of the Empire.

Pestilence had been called upon once again, being given the briefing and the details of the op regarding the silent research facility located on Rishi's moon, with the amount of VIPs wasn't unusual per say, more so a point of interest regarding the subject matter. Regardless, DT-2417 and his men were once again on security detail for the amount of vital staff that were in attendance for this investigation and whilst the Death Troopers were not alone in this regard, having stormtroopers and walker support at their disposal, it was more than likely that Pestilence was going to be the significant force behind security for the Imperial personnel assigned to this mission. Significant weight was held with every aspect of this mission, the orders coming from the Emperor himself and whilst unable to properly show it, DT-2417 was deeply honored to be assigned to a mission formed from the graces of ones much higher than he. Preparations, as expected, took no time at all as Pestilence formed up and took to their area of operations. A sense of pride deep beneath the surface of every trooper present.

The Lambda-Class landed upon the platform as Pestilence formed up and disembarked in regimented fashion, entering formation as they looked upon the scene. Blood was everywhere, a visceral and literal clue that some form of engagement had happened here yet nothing more was done upon it, that was not their mission. Garbled transmissions came from the Captain as the black-clad sentinels formed up with the Imperial force as a whole, taking up a state of security around those of high value within the Imperial command structure. They were the investigators, Pestilence was merely the sword and shield to stand ready at their defense should something still linger within. Weapons were kept ready but lowered, though in the instant something happened, Pestilence would be ready.

Though nobody was truly ready for what lie within those halls.

Being made aware of the lack of communication from the Rishi moon outpost, Ailuros was sent to investigate what had happened. Since joining the Empire, they forced her to wear clothing at least. Not knowing the reason for the loss of communication though, she wore more than just her light armor.

Today, she actually wore her uniform with pants that had a spot for her tail to come out. How they had managed to accomplish this was beyond her and she could use it freely. The only thing that separated her from the other agents was the fact she refused to give up her personal belt. It held everything she would need for this assignment.

The shuttle setting down, the cat walked off with the rest of the people and looked at the bloody mess before them. Her nostrils flared at the smell and her ears twitched as she tried to hear anything beyond the noise they were making.

Her hand rested on the hilt of her sword, but she didn't draw it. There was no sign of anything left alive and nothing moved out of the shadows to attack them. When Labkahip mentioned having to run some tests on the blood, Ailuros turned her head to look at her before speaking.

"I would suggest collecting some samples and any testing might be done in the medical bay here."

Speaking with a slight lisp due to her mouth formation and having larger canines than humans, her voice was still soft to the group. In theory, she had pitched it so only they would hear her.

Tilting her ear in the direction of Varik when he spoke, she wondered what he meant. The Force was something foreign to the cat and nothing she really knew about. Unknown to her though, she could use it and had done so in the past. Making no comment to the man though, she wondered over to Desmond when he started coughing.

"You weren't ill on the way here. Maybe you are allergic to something here?"

Turning as they started to move away from the shuttle, she made mental notes of her observations to put into a report to present when everything was done.

Heavy footfalls sounded down the landing ramp of the shuttle that they had all arrived in, culminating in the sighting of black combat boots, changing into red armor that ended in a mixed-color helmet.

An Imperial sovereign protector, one of the elite guards skilled enough to actually protect the Emperor or the Grand Moff, was now standing before them. Even with the black-tinted visor of his helmet, some would feel his eyes fix themselves over several figures in the group, most notably the new initiate of the Inquisitorius; Varik Ice.

"Listen up you lot!" The guardsman snarled "I am Sovereign Protector Skaara Carlon of the Imperial Guard, and as a representative of His Majesty, I will be taking command of this expeditionary mission!" He stepped off of the ramp onto the landing platform, seemingly ignoring the bloody scene present.

"You two." He had turned his attention to the feline agent and the Twi'lek scientist "Collect your samples and store them aboard the ship, I'm certain Director Caalgen would want to see exactly what happened."

Ice's eyes darted over as he not only heard the booming voice, but felt the obvious presence of the Sovereign Protector as he came down the ramp. He felt the Guardsman's gaze turn to him, perhaps for longer than it should have. Perhaps he had been right, and he was being examined. Even if he was though, that was irrelevant to the situation.

One of the Emperor's own guard did not just turn up to evaluate an Initiate - which means whatever was going on, it was very serious. Even moreso than he thought, when he'd heard of the Emperor's decision for how to handle such an investigation.

Scanning the room, he tried to see what assets they had. He recognized Pestilence, and was glad to see them. A dozen Deathtroopers would always aid a situation, and he'd worked with them before, as he had C'artyom. He felt that they were more than adequately prepared.

His mind wandered back to the Protector. More than just his status, Ice considered the power he had to wield; the power that he had the potential to reach. He'd grown more fond of the Empire and its ideals, but his own power was still of great interest to him. He would not settle for how powerful he was now, and situations like this were simply steps on the ladder upward.

Inferno One approached the inquisitors, but did not salute. If their were hostiles in the area saluting would paint a big target on the poor bastards backs. So instead Inferno simply mulled about awaiting further orders. It wasn’t long until the man leading the escapade emerged from the Lambda class shuttle and began barking orders. He introduced himself as Skaara, Desmond had been on an ops with him briefly before, all though back then Skaara did not hold such a prestigious position. But, then again neither had Des.

The man ordered a fellow Imperial agent to take a sample of the blood aboard the ship. It irked Desmond that someone who rightfully fell under his jurisdiction would be ordered about by a crazed man who worshipped a cult such as the force. But, it was not Desmond’s op so he held his tongue. Sensing their squad leaders aggravation Inferno One began to dawdle nervously. The clones avoided Des’s eye contact, but just as swiftly as his aggravation had come, it passed. He reminded himself his place in intelligence was that of a ghost.

Very few even knew of his double life, and so it would remain. Even the fellow agents he had worked with only knew him by his codename of Keeper One. Now, he was not Desmond Imperial Overseer, Keeper One. Now he was Reaper, commander of Inferno One and Baron of the Empire. Desmond shifted his cloak so that the shadows would encompass his head and Skaara would not be able to read his facial expressions.

“Your orders sir?” Desmond asked in his thick Imperial accent.

Prepare for your... examination.
She looked at the feline inquisitor? giving a nod in the process, "Ture, that would work, but their is not telling if the medical facilities on the outpost are still at operating capacity, or contaminated, which from the amount of blood and other factors is highly likely, still it doe not hurt to try". Lab placed down a plastiod container and that contained her medical equipment, taking several swabs of a few of the blood smears and pools, placing them in sealed test tubes.

"Okay no...." her sentence was cut off by an authoritative voice from behind, turning around Lab noted the bright red dressed armored person, noting that it meant someone from the Royal Guard. "Of course Sir...." 'Strange why is he here of all places, seems a little strange fro a royal guard to be on a simple investigation, or does he know something we don't'. She finished collecting the blood samples, dividing them up into two separate containers.

"You there, trooper, take these samples back to the ship for testing later, I will press on, something tells me there is more to this situation then meets the eye". The trooper gave a nod and carried the blood samples back to the ship, while Lab addressed the feline inquisitor, "Might I ask how Trianni came to become an imperial agent"?

perhaps but it doesn't explain the blood leading inside...unless someone played dead and made it in...to much blood though

She said to varik, his observations noted by the high inquistor. She was about to move forward when a commanding vouce drew her attention as she stood them straighter...soverign protectors...soemthing was up..anya didn't like it this meant something wasn't being said. In any case she simomy approached and bowed

high inquistor lady Malvern at your service sovereign protector carlon. I was about to move forward to investigate the blood trails leading in. I'm at your command sir

She said and stepped back bowing again as she looked to the doctor? And the feline, interesting....hiwever the feline made her blood boil...last one she saw took her eye...bad blood agaisnt the species

Ailuros turned when Skaara came down the ramp and introduced himself, almost jumping to take action on his order. Collecting several blood samples, she placed them in the vials she had on her belt. Her time with the Empire had changed some of the items it carried and now she had more investigation tools instead of those used to repair ships. Some of those still remained though.

He ordered them to be stored on the ship and as soon as her task was completed, she took them to the shuttle herself. Once that was done, she returned to the gathering in the ruined room.

Walking over to what was a security feed console, she attempted to pull up any video footage. She took words are their face value and when it was suggested that Director Caalgen would want to SEE what happened, that is exactly what she was looking for. While the feed was running, she turned away from the console to look at the others to see if they were accomplishing anything or just waiting to see orders were.

Labkahip addressed her and asked how she had come to be an agent. Looking at the woman, Ailuros tilted her head slightly before answering, "Grand Moff Graf recruited me after capturing my ship passing through the system." The answer was simple and the truth. Though Ailuros was surprised the woman knew she was a Trianni. Quite often she was confused with the Cathar. She would have to ask how Labkahip knew what she was.

When Lady Malvern spoke, she turned to look at her and Anya was looking at her with thoroughly evil eye. It was one of those looks that if it could kill, she would be a smoldering husk of a corpse. The cat didn't back down though, right now she viewed Anya as a predator and as prey to show any weakness was a bad sign.

Keeping her jaw shut though, she moved back to the security console to see if the recording was there.

Normally, if old Kirk were feeling nice enough, he might’ve ask if there was a no-smoking policy about this ship. He didn’t care for the socially-responsible businesses getting in his way, but a potential employer was worth looking out for. It was a political thing. It still didn’t stop the itching sensation at the back of his throat.

There were two problems with all of that, though.

One, was the fact that he’d been wearing his mask. It featured a rebreather, along with several visions to see in night vision, the infrared spectrum, and the ultraviolet spectrum. It was handy, but when he wore it, he didn’t look any different from some kind of Outer Rim raider; it was the same kind of sod he’d kill for credits when he wasn’t playing janitor for the Imperials. Still, the point from earlier remained. It’d be tough luck catching a cigarra through this thing.

Getting back on track, the second problem, was that whole crew apparently just up and left. There wasn’t anyone to tell him not too was the problem. He might’ve called tech support if there was a single worthless terminal that wasn’t covered in blood; maybe then Kirk could’ve at least have a clue what the hell was going on, and why the hell there were no bodies.

“Damn.”, he thought to himself.

The aged, methodical bounty hunter glanced about the bloodied terminals and room after breaching the room with his Westar M5 Rifle raised. He noticed that the Sovereign Protector was the one looking like the guy that was leading this charade after he gave a short-lasted speech; the bounty hunter wasn’t picky. Kirk looked to make some minor small talk-

“Well, this’ll be fun.”, he said lowly, as if to pick up a conversation.

As the members of the expedition began their investigation of the landing pad and the surrounding buildings, a strange sight would soon become very noticeable to all of them. A good dozen meters away from where the shuttle set down stood a sizeable blast door that opened into a wide tunnel which in turn led into the facility after a while. What was strange is that it was slightly ajar, with an abyss of darkness visible through the small gap. Even stranger is that a hand, mangled and as black as the dimness around it, suddenly appeared against the grey durasteel.

A few seconds passed and the massive door was wrenched open by a single individual, what turned out to be a stormtrooper. But they would now see that this was no normal stormtrooper. Flesh hung from the creature's mouth, visible through the front of the helmet that was ripped off, blood was prevalent all over its armors and intestines were spilling from its exposed torso. A low growl came from its supposedly decomposed vocal chords, indicating that it had seen them all, and it was hungry .

It began to move, dragging its snapped leg across the floor with terrifyingly amazing balance, its arms raised towards the closest person; High Inquisitor Malvern. She needn't have acted though, as a glint of metal shone in the air between them, a vibroblade bisecting the creature in two. Sovereign Protector Carlon cleared his blade from the beasts muscle, before driving it through its head, causing the thing to cease all movement.

Desmond watched as the decrepit hand flung the durasteel doors open with ease. At first Desmond assumed it was the work of the force, but as the trooper dragged himself into the open Desmond began to realize much more was at work here. Spectre began to walk towards the undead trooper but Desmond placed a hand on Spectre’s arm to stop him. There was no saving that man and Desmond knew it. The creature made it about five more steps before Skaara cut it down. This raised Desmond’s suspicions about Skaara.

Why didn’t he try to help the trooper? Unless he knows too…

Desmond had seen creatures like these before. He had unleashed the unrefined version of such a virus on the Capitol of the Galactic Alliance. All though back then the virus Desmond had made was not nearly as lethal and it needed the support of nanites. It appeared as though this facility had perfected Desmond’s work though. With a hand to chin Desmond pondered on what their true objective here was.It quickly dawned on Desmond and he communicated his idea to the rest of his squad. The reason they were here was to secure a vial of the virus for further testing.

“Skaara, why’d you kill that trooper?” Desmond asked, feigning shock. Desmond’s squad immediately sensed Desmond’s deception, but they played dumb as well. They all raised their Verpine Shatter rifles at Skaara, but Desmond motioned for them to lower their weapons. “Now’s not the time for us to turn on one another. Look at the corpse men.. It’s been dead for days. This thing was not human. Skaara was right to kill it. Now if only he’d tell us what’s going on,” Desmond asked

The descent into madness began.

The Death Troopers had trained their rifles on the shambling corpse, although it had appeared that the Sovereign Protector had the situation under control. DT-2417 had unwillingly overheard the rumors of this sort of thing, though simply brushed them off as his fellow Imperials soaking their fears and interests in the matters of the supposedly undead. What Pestilence, and the VIPs they had been assigned to protect, changed all that. The rumors were here, running amok. Yet nothing came from the black-clad troopers, no fear or emotion, they simply kept their weapons ready for whatever would come next. If a single one of those things could open a door by itself with ease, the escalation of the situation they found themselves in had exploded ten-fold. The matter of fact that the Chiss' squad raised their weapons at the Sovereign Protector before being ordered to lower them. Tensions were high already, and they hadn't even entered the facility.

Pestilence would need every part of their training and field experience to survive, just like everyone else. There were no betters in this hell, only the living and the undead.

Varik's instincts kicked in, and he was already preparing to cleave the trooper as it got close enough, before Skaara stepped forward and acted first. It made sense that he would have protective instincts of his own, after all. Varik's saber stayed put - for now. He now stepped forward, just slightly in front and to the side of the High Inquisitor, not blocking her view but able to get between her and threats if necessary. He crouched down near the now headless corpse, examining it without a touch, curiously.

He knew he had felt something out of place here, though he hadn't been able to put his finger on it. This was it. It didn't take a genius to work things out; with the amount of blood over the walls, there was far more of them. He had felt what presence in the force this thing had, and he felt pity. It was a rare thing for him, but he knew whoever was like this, was far better off dead than being left in this state.

This could be a result of two things - enemy intervention or Imperial accident. This was too wasteful to be intentional. Which meant either way, they would exterminate these abominations. He felt a twinge of conflict. If Imperial research had created this...was it research that should be saved? Rarely did thoughts of morality affect his judgement, but perhaps he was only concerned for the potential danger it held for the Empire. Yes, that was it.

He immediately glanced over to Desmond, speaking quickly. "Perhaps a conversation better held in private." Before he had arrived, he knew he was not just protecting the High Inquisitor, but the Empire itself; its soldiers and secrets. There were mercenaries here, the kind who would sell their mother for a lump sum, never mind Imperial research. That, and he had grown used to Desmond - the last thing needed was for a Sovereign Protector to try and cut him down during the operation, and hopefully what he said could lessen that.

She had been glaring to the cat...thing...whatever! She needn't bother herself with such a creature, she turned as she heard the door wrenches down to be greeted with a sight...a storm trooper that, no that couldn't be a trooper least not alive. Her lightsaber was raised minute it started for he ever it seemed the sovereign protector carlon managed to eliminate the threat with superior speed

Not only that but that man, [member="Varik Ice"], had put himself between her and the threat...his actions would be noted and reported to his higher up...maybe even a personal recommendation put in. She patted his shoulder as she crouched by him looking the body over as she reached out then stopped as she stood

You two, doc and cat....get over here now I think you may wanna see this

She said as she moved back and looked to the sovereign protector as she spoke again politely but with a edge of irritation

sovereign protector carlon, may I ask what you know of this mission. We barely got any info on it...and I have a feeling you know more

Mercenaries had no real place when the Empire had some of it's best and brightest dealing with a particular matter, though maybe that says something about Fett. The work with the Empire was steady, it continued and the pay only seemed to get better. Always helped that he enjoyed the jobs he was tasked with. Hunting down Rebels, assassinating Jedi and many more. Though at the end of the day it was anything that would earn him enough credits whilst savoring his insatiable lust for conflict. Repeat business; the Empire could afford it. Though despite being nothing more than a Bounty Hunter, would he sell his mother for a lump sum? Perhaps. He would of sold the tube that birthed him if given the chance.
What did this? The question echoed about inside his helmeted head, a scowl of confusion expressed across his hidden face as he couldn't quite pin-point what all this blood was the result of. Galactic Alliance, no, not their way of doing things. Something I'm not being told. He knew that much. Especially when the Sovereign Protector carried themselves as if they knew exactly what was going on. Doctors and Scientists too? Hmph. Everything looked increasingly suspicious as time went on. Whatever was here, he was in for a treat.
When his fellow Hunter made his comment, Fett shot him a glance, whether he looked back or not didn't matter considering Koda glanced off shortly afterwards to keep looking around. The rangefinder folded over his visor, despite it being relatively dark, Fett could see just fine due to his helmet's capabilities. Though once a hand began moving and a vile figure was visible everything changed, he caught a good glimpse of whatever it was before it was cut down. Eugh. Things just got a little complicated.
