WEAKNESSES
- Cortosis:
- Cortosis will temporarily short out the contained energy blade on contact
- Lightsaber resistant materials:
- Contained energy blade cannot cut through lightsaber resistant materials, Such as reinforced Duraplast, Cortosis, Beskar, Allusteel, etc.
- Structural design:
- The angular and jagged design of the blade provides the wielder's opponent leverage when attempting to control the wielder's blade, As well as the wielder. It is quite literally, A double edged sword.
- Not a throwing saber:
- Trigger based activation means that the contained energy blade deactivates when the trigger is released, Making it a poor choice of throwing weapon.
- High maintenance:
- Despite the mullinine edge, The saber-beskad and Kal require frequent sharpening, And the polished ori'ramikad wood sheath requires re-polishing and treatment. Additionally, The electronic internals should be regularly cleaned.
DESCRIPTION
Based on an Ancient mandalorian design from Aloy Vizsla's past, The Roonic pattern Beskad and Kal were both designed by Aloy Vizsla as a Duelist's blade set for mandalorians hunting the Sith. The design featured a traditional styled Beskad blade that was wider near the tip and designed to cleave through enemies and batter their defenses, But featured a longer and more slender blade than traditional mandalorian designs, Giving the wielder an elegant and precise form in battle.
The weapon was given a segmented activation trigger; Holding in the upper rigger would activate a plasmatic-lightsaber blade along the edge of the weapon, Which was cruder than Jedi or Sith designs, Bearing similarities to the Ren saber designs, Which were slightly unstable and resulted in a rippling energy blade that was known to spark violently and make unsettling crackling sounds.
Holding in the lower trigger would activate the ultrasonic vibro-generator, Causing the weapon to produce a high pitched humming sound when swung and cause cut devastating wounds clean through organic matter and metals alike.
This second method of damage was included to provide a backup alternative in the event that the contained energy blade was shorted out by cortosis. Though some might say that Aloy simply wanted a "Mandalorian aesthetic" to prevail over the weapons of Jedi and Sith.
A smaller version in the form of a mandalorian Kal was constructed after successful tests and typically constructed in paired sets like the the Kal & Beskade wielded by the ancient Neo-crusaders.
Single handed Saber-Beskade were worn on the hip, With the Saber-Kal worn on the same hip above it. They both came with decorated sheaths made from polished Ori'ramikad wood.
Two-handed variants of the Beskade were sometimes worn on the back, While Kal that had not been paired with a single handed beskade were worn on hanging sheaths horizontally on the front of the belt, Or at the small of the back.
