GENERAL INFORMATION

Planet Name: Vitruvia

Demonym: Vitruvian

Region: Tingel Arm

System Name: Vitruvian System

System Features: There are two significant features to the Vitruvian System. The first is a strangely large nebula that covers a large portion of the system. The second is a large asteroid field that encircles both the nebula and Vitruvia. Both of these are rich in a variety of metals, which the Vitruvians have put to good use through the years. Others have struggled to navigate these treacherous features of the Virtruvian System, leaving a large portion of them untouched by outside hands.

Location: The hex above Koboth (pictured below).

Major Imports: N/A (it is a self-sustaining community with little to no need for outside assistance).

Major Exports: Pre-discovery; none. Post-discovery; durasteel, agrinium, alusteel, bronzium, quadanium.

Unexploited Resources: mythra, neuranium, bandorium, nurtorium.

GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION

Gravity: Standard

Climate: Controlled

Primary Terrain: Artificial, Synthetic

Atmosphere: Type I (only due to an artificial atmosphere & advanced environment control units)

LOCATION INFORMATION

Capital City: The Core

Planetary Features: Vitruvia is a giant city, similar to Coruscant. Even more so, in its own way, as the city itself goes all the way to the core. Much of the planet is dedicated to industry, with many levels dedicated to factories involving the mining and refining of materials, as well as production of various useful pieces of technology. In the skies of the planet, there is a series of landing platforms laid out in a grid, remaining in orbit around the planet. These landing bays are used for docking mining droids that bring in raw materials from the surrounding nebula and asteroid belt.

The surface of the planet is a vast metropolis, which was built many years after the initial construction of the planet itself. This was done to accommodate the growing droid population, as the droids on the planet wished to have homes similar to humanoids. Linking the levels together is a large system of elevators, conveyor belts, and tram rails. Anything resembling plants are clearly mechanical constructs, though they are clearly meant to appear as if they are real plants.

Major Locations:

The Core: The capital of Vitruvia, located at the center of the planet. In the center of the Core is a massive, circular chamber, with a large mechanical throne in the center. This is where the Droidmother, the leader of Vitruvia, holds court and manages the entirety of the planet. The throne itself is hooked up to the planets network, allowing the Droidmother to interface with every droid and computer on the planet. The rest of the core acts as a massive data storage system, allowing for incredible amounts of information to remain available to the Droidmother at any given time.

MOSHED-2021-8-10-18-33-40.jpg

The Production District: The next level up from the Core. This is where everything is manufactured, from weapons, to droids, to anything else that the Vitruvians may require. This is also where the programming of new droids take place, allotting tasks and writing scripts for new Vitruvians.

MOSHED-2021-8-10-18-15-59.jpg

The Refinement District: The level above the Production District. This is where raw materials are melted down, and where impurities are removed and relocated. This level also houses maintenance facilities for various systems, as well as broken droids. Any technology (including droids) that are deemed beyond repair are stripped and repurposed on this level.

MOSHED-2021-8-10-17-53-24.jpg

The Distribution District: The level above the Refinement District. This is where raw materials are unloaded and distributed to the appropriate transports to the Refinement District. It is also the level that facilitates the distribution of necessary items to the Vitruvians on the surface.

MOSHED-2021-8-10-16-40-46.jpg

The Residential District: The outer level of Vitruvia. This is where the Vitruvians maintain their own special brand of society, including cultural centers and urban, residential neighborhoods. This level is also where most of the planet’s defenses are located, including the shield generator and various military installations.

Force Nexus (Optional): N/A

POPULATION

Native Species: N/A (all inhabitants are droids)

Immigrated Species: N/A (even insects and other pests have been eradicated in the name of efficiency, and all ships are thoroughly inspected and cleansed before docking).

Population: Heavy (droids)

Demographics: The original inhabitants are currently unknown. Today, the sole inhabitants are a large variety of droids, from protocol, to astromech, to many others. They are largely isolationist, with few exceptions. Though they see organic bodies a sort of inefficiency, they have a strange desire to appear “more human” in their actions.

Primary Languages: Galactic Basic, Droidspeak

Culture: The culture of Vitruvia has three distinct traits. The first and foremost is adherence to the will of the Droidmother. The connection that every Vitruvian has to the Droidmother seems almost like a hivemind, though each Vitruvian still has the ability to operate independently. The Vitruvians due “revere” the Droidmother, in a sense, though not in the way that organics would revere an individual. It is more of an idea of use, and considering how vital the Droidmother is to the functions of Vitruvia, the rest of the Vitruvians hold her in incredibly high importance.

The Droidmother

The second major trait of Vitruvian civilization is the idea of practicality over aesthetic. This is because, due to their logical and mechanical methods of logic, they have grown to determine that function is the most important thing of all. As long as the machine of society that they call home keeps working smoothly, then there is no need for anything else in life. This leads them to lead very streamlined lifestyles, without need for frivolous things. This mentality has also created a sense of unity that has made poverty, war, and crime non-existent on their world. This idea of functionality has caused them to become isolationist, as they view organics as unpredictable and inefficient. They have decided to keep to themselves in an effort to minimize the risk of jeopardizing their optimized environment.

The third aspect to Vitruvian culture, which is the primary thing that sets them apart from other droids at a glance, is their strange desire to appear more sentient. This comes from a sense that they have achieved the same level of sentience and self-reliance that is prevalent in organic society. They even go as far as to live in homes, wear clothes, and even keep pets and plants. This may seem contradictory to their ideals at first, but when inspected closely, it becomes clear that functionality remains at its core. The homes they live in are optimized and minimalist in nature. Their “pets” are other droids that fulfill specific functions within the house, such as maintenance or cleaning, and the plants serve a wide variety of functions, such as assisting in the continued stabilization of their artificial atmosphere. Even the clothes they wear have purpose, whether it be an armored fabric for combat, or gear that enhances their ability to conduct certain tasks.

GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY

Government: Monarchy, Technocracy

Affiliation: N/A

Wealth: High. Specifically, the Vitruvians have amassed a large quantity of materials that would fetch a hefty price if sold. They don’t have wealth in terms of currency, however, because they perceive currency to be primitive and unnecessary.

Stability: High. Vitruvia operates like a well-oiled machine (quite literally, in this case), with each droid fulfilling its purpose within the greater context of Vitruvian society. The planet is devoid of crime, poverty, and war, as these are considered to be concepts of the organic, and are deemed inefficient by the Vitruvians. Their isolationist ideals do present an obstacle for outsiders, however. If an organic visits the planet, they are met with the utmost scrutiny. Any wrong move that compromises the efficiency of the planet can end in the death of the offending party.

Freedom & Oppression: Freedom, as organics perceive it, is not present on Vitruvia. This is simply because the Viitruvians don’t have the need for such liberties, as they are distractions from their contribution to the planet’s operations. That being said, should organics visit the planet, they would be largely offered the freedoms expected of an organic society, though they would remain monitored in an effort to prevent anything that may disrupt the flow of the Vitruvian societal machine. Any sort of crime or violence would be met with an instant arrest, trial, and likely execution of those responsible. As such, the Vitruvians have, in their own way, an incredibly strong sense of legality and justice through the lens of efficiency.

MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY

Military: Though it is a planet entirely inhabited by droids, they have developed their own military through the years. Most of this equates to ground forces, including a large variety of infantry and artillery (all droids). There is also a fairly strong deflector shield, which is kept deactivated until the need for it arrives. The planet itself also houses a rather large planetary defense system, complete with laser cannons and turbolasers. The largest weakness of the Vitruvian military is its lack of a proper navy. Having maintained an isolationist attitude for many years has left the Vitruvians with little desire for expansion, causing them to refrain from building larger ships. The only starfighters that they possess are short range, and incapable of hyperspeed.

Technology: In many aspects, the technology level on Vitruvia is on par with the galactic standard. Despite this, there are aspects to their technology that are very advanced. Their artificial atmosphere is beyond the capabilities of standard models, able to cover the entire planet. Their AI is incredibly advanced as well, giving them more self-awareness than your average droid. They also utilize several advanced habitat maintenance systems, as well as highly advanced mining equipment suitable for the treacherous Vitruvian System.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The complete origins of Vitruvia remain unknown, but those that have studied it have been able to hypothesize some aspects of its history. Due to the continued building and enhancement of the planet by the Vitruvians, it’s original construction date is unknown. It has been estimated to be as old as thousands of years, though this is largely considered to be speculation. What has been universally determined is that it was originally built as a massive mining operation some time long ago. This theory states that the original intent was to take advantage of the raw materials within the treacherous nebula and asteroid belt while minimizing harm to personnel.

At an unknown point in history, the project was abandoned. Some experts have theorized that the Gulag Plague made the project unprofitable due to lack of manpower to see it through, but this has yet to be confirmed. Another common theory is that the creators are an ancient, dead species, but the continued shifts in construction make it difficult to pin it down to one species. This is largely due to the fact that the planet has such a large database of information, so the Droidmother has taken pieces from many civilizations and utilized the most optimized aspects in the construction of the planet.

What is universally accepted by historians is the reason for the currently advanced droid population now known as the Vitruvians. It has been concluded that, due to the abrupt nature of the project’s termination, the hyper-advanced AI that was meant to control the station continued to operate and develop on its own. This AI eventually constructed a body for itself, and over time it became known as the Droidmother.

The Droidmother began improving upon the planet itself, as well as the droids that resided upon it. This developed into more advanced droid models being made, as well as improvements on their AI. As time went on, they began developing their own society, and continued making further additions to the planet, creating new layers upon layers in an effort to fulfill all of their needs. Despite all of the developments on the planet, there was always a lingering piece of their original purpose. This caused their society to be built around the manufacturing and development of technology, making them a highly advanced planet, despite the lack of organic creativity.

The planet had remained largely at peace, until a recent rescue operation conducted by the Ashlan Crusade had caused them to brave the treacherous nebula. They stumbled across the planet, and decided to investigate the strange megastructure. They were greeted with suspicion at first, as the Vitruvians had become incredibly isolationist through the years. Through careful negotiations, the Crusade was able to bring them into the fold, allowing them to maintain their autonomy within Ashlan Space in exchange for technology. Whether this allowance of outside influence will be a boon or a bane to Vitruvia is yet to be seen, but for now, they are satisfied with the arrangement.

This is a great submission. There is only one item I can find that I would like to see you address.

Major Exports | While I understand it is easier to say that there are various other metals and minerals we do like to see all the items listed out. This is more for anyone that would like to use the planet as a roleplay setting. If there are not any more specific items you'd like to mention you could simply remove that part of the list.

Thanks!

Nothing else of note, so I just removed it. Thanks for the feedback!
