OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: The Globex Corporation
  • Affiliation: Globex Security Division
  • Market Status: Open-Market
  • Model: Viper-series Multi-Role Blaster Rifle
  • Modularity: Very High; numerous variants exist, significant degree of interchangeability post-production.
    • Standardised Scope Rail; standard-issue Vipers come either with no scope (appropriate if relying on helmet sensors and the like), a sleek scope designed for CQC and mid-to-long range combat, or a large scope packed with sensors (see art) for dedicated snipers.
    • Ergonomic alterations are common for VIPs and special forces as well as for species with unusual biologies, such as Lamproids. Can be scaled up or down during manufacturing to suit larger or smaller soldiers, increasing or decreasing firepower as appropriate.
    • Commandos, special forces, and the like are sometimes issued flash-hiders and high-end silencers that reduce the sound generated by the weapon firing to something akin to a soft pop; while certainly useful for "more subtle roles", the bolts are still quite visible.
    • Attachment mounts for vibro-bayonets, ascension cables, grenade/microgrenade launchers, flame projectors, scatterguns, etc.
      • See spoilered art for standard grenade launcher; micro-rockets have better range/accuracy but are less destructive.
    • Optional biometric locks and/or electronic anti-theft countermeasures; can be linked to compatible armour/implants.
    • The barrel can be shortened to make the Viper better suited for close-quarters combat at the expense of range.
    • Compatible with extended magazines and other standard modifications.
    • Camouflage and numerous potential cosmetic alterations.
  • Production: Mass-Produced
  • Material: Hexaplast (Standard)
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Blaster Rifle
  • Size: Large
  • Weight: Heavy
  • Ammunition Type: Power Pack or Visium Cell
  • Ammunition Capacity: Large (Standard; 360 Bolts) | Average (Supercharged; 120 Bolts)
  • Effective Range: Average (High RoF) | Long Range (Average RoF) | Battlefield (Low RoF)
  • Rate of Fire: High (12 RPS) | Average (4 RPS) | Low (1 RPS)
  • Damage Output: Average (Standard) | High (Supercharged)
  • Recoil: Average
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Vipers are outfitted with hair triggers, cautionary pulsers, flashlights, and numerous other utility features.
  • The Viper is equipped with the specialised machinery required to supercharge its bolts, tripling the strain it puts on the power pack in order to fire potent particle beams that explode upon contact with significantly more force than its blaster bolts; certain models are modified by GMCs to include an ion mode, especially if significant droid resistance is expected, while others enhance the stun mode at the expense of lethality.
  • To aid in its role as an all-purpose service rifle, the Viper is outfitted with an innovative Bolt Integrity Enhancer, allowing it to sacrifice rate of fire in favour of range, switching between modes on the fly as appropriate - that said, Vipers are not recommended for anti-material duties.
  • In addition to the optional features listed under "Modularity", all Vipers possess an integrated bipod stand which is often replaced with a sturdier variant possessing integrated stabilisers when issued to dedicated snipers.
STRENGTHS
  • All-Purpose: Suitable for nearly any environment (including underwater) and everything from close-quarters combat to sniper duty even in its default configuration, a truly vast lineup of possible modifications only adds to the Viper's versatility, as does its large ammunition capacity.
WEAKNESSES
  • Hot, Hot, Hot: Firing supercharged bolts on full auto for prolonged periods risks literally melting the barrel.
  • Trained Hands: Given their range of features and hefty weight, Vipers should be kept out of ill-trained hands.
DESCRIPTION
The mainstay blaster rifle of the Globex Security Division and a smattering of planetary security forces, the Viper-series is an impressively modular design well-suited for everything from Ewok infantrists to Epicanthix marksmen - assuming a General Manufacturing Construct is used to modify the design as appropriate. In its most common (and by extension cheapest) form, it is best wielded by roughly human shaped-and-sized beings.

From its Bolt Integrity Enhanced to its distinctive scalability, clear parallels can be drawn to
the Judicator; as a result, it seems likely that Globex would be under investigation for industrial espionage by Sith-Imperial intelligence, if said intelligence was not mostly occupied with various wars.
